And we are on the precipice of the first round being completed here at TPC, so I'll
press for the players championship, joining me to break it all down. Greg, do sharp. The
Greg head, Dr. Greg head is here. Gregors fired up to be here, Rick. This was, I mean, I know
there's only one round that's nearly in the books, but it felt like four different renditions of
TPC sawgrass today. I have seen a lot, I've seen a lot of golf tournament. It's a my day. I don't know
if I can remember one with this many weather changes. And I was also way off on the wave
advantage. It's looking like anyway. So was I. You know, I mean, it did not look this was not
the forecasted weather. I'm quite surprised. Well, it was not the forecasted weather, but also
it came in like two hours earlier than it was supposed to. Yes. Which, which, which kind of change.
I think it's still a chance it evens out. We'll see tomorrow. But yeah, it was four seasons
in a day. I was on my break. I went out there within five minutes. It started pouring. I was
completely stoked. I had to change shirts. I had to do all that stuff. I did get back out there
in the afternoon. And it was absolutely gorgeous. So we'll talk about that. But we have to talk about
the topic of the day, especially in our world, Gregors. And that is bright and early this morning,
maybe before many of our friends on the on the west coast have even gotten up. After one
completed whole column or cow steps to the 11th T his second hole the day. He takes a practice
swing immediately grabs the back. And immediately it's like this looks, this looks bad. Physio comes out.
They chat for a couple minutes before you know it. column or cow is in a golf cart. He is being
driven back to the clubhouse. He is withdrawn from the players championship after playing one
hole as one of the pre tournament favorites. The most popular DFS fantasy play. The most popular
one and done play. One of if not the most popular most bet player in every market. He sees one
hole of action to players championship. And it's it's kind of wild to me because you think about
so many of these storylines coming into the week. Rory McElroy, of course, the biggest one. He withdraws
last week kind of suddenly somewhat in contention at Bay Hill with draws on Saturday morning doesn't
arrive until late Wednesday night. If this happened to Rory McElroy, I think most of us would have
expected it. But column or a cow comes in after another great performance at Bay Hill. And spends
basically you know 50% of his press conference talking about how he's been working on his body.
And he's never put this much time into his body. And it's never been in such good shape. And
it's led to all these great results. And you know, if if you ask me what has changed with
column or a cow it's his physical fitness. And then he enters his back on a on a practice swing.
Yeah, I don't even think that was a full speed swing. It was a nothing burger Greg. It was almost
like an L to L like nothing burger like this is where the club should go. And and it tweaks on him.
I mean, it's a perfect kind of Kyle Porter normal sport moment, right? You're the favorite of the
golf tournament. I know he wasn't officially the favorite. But like you said, most bet most popular
everybody had the expectations on him. And it's almost like that's just a curse.
What everybody's on one guy. It's like being on the madden cover. Oh god, don't even say that. Yeah,
I mean, and it was fairway on first. His first hole was fairway throw a dart. Miss the putt.
That's fine. And I was like, here we go. He he's he's going to shred this place. Obviously,
things for column or cow he said afterwards. I guess this is something that has happened before
because as soon as it happened, he knew it. And he knew there's you know, there's no five minute
fix for this to get you back into the championship, which is what you what you have to get when
you've already started the round. So obviously, we're wishing him all the best. And we have no idea
what the longer term outcome of this is going to be. No, hopefully it's something similar to
Rory McElroy where it's just a muscle issue. And it's like, you know, I have definitely twinge
my neck in an instant like I felt it happen doing nothing. It hasn't happened to me in the back
that way, but it has in the neck and and it locks up and there's a little you can do. It takes
a couple of days. It's just it's one of those things where you wish you could kind of call a time
out. And there's nothing you can do. You know, it happens so early in the tournament and you're done
for the you're done for the rest of the biggest championship on the PGA tour. So it's very
disappointing, but I don't imagine looking at it that it's anything long-term and in two weeks,
I think it'll be just fine. The let's talk about the implications in our industry, Greg, because
I'm sure you were also tagged in 400 tweets and I got emails and I got all of this. So so let's
describe what's happening here. For the most part, if you bet column or cala, you might be
so well. There are a couple of scenarios. I think drift kings did like the early exit where they
will refund your stuff. And I don't think hard rock has. So I have my waitress in a column or
count. Thank you very much. But they are not obligated to do that, Greg. That is that is marketing
and that is good publicity when they do something like that. Yes. I did have a couple of people
reach out to me and say they got refunded on more cala. Look, this I they you're right. They don't
have to do that. It's it's nothing more than publicity if they do. If I were running a book, I don't
think I would. You know, this is like he played. He started. He played it. What there's nothing you
can do. How is this different than what happened to Rory last week? You know, so you have to draw
a line somewhere if you're in that position. I think where it's really painful is a draft fantasy
line up. Yes. One and done. It just there's nothing you can do. So the thing is this was also an
issue last week with Jake nap that got people all fired up and who who played Jake nap in fantasy
and then who played cala more cala and fantasy back to back weeks and they got nothing out of them.
And there's also a contingent of people who played Rory McElroy in one and done last week and
played cala more cala in one and done this week and got nothing out of both of them. So I
understand there's a lot of frustration. There are a lot of ideas being thrown around Greg about,
there needs to be some level of alternate or replacing with the person who
replaces cala. In this case, that was not a player because cala already started his round. He was not
replaced with a first alternate or something like that. And because he did start his rounds,
even some formats like one and done formats that have an alternate built in, he was not replaced
because of that. So it's like there has to be a line somewhere. I don't know if the industry is
agreeing on where that line is. The industry line is really when the tournament starts, right? That's
like first T-shot on Thursday is the line. Now there have been exceptions made and this is where
this is where it gets debatable. Well, if so and so hasn't started yet, should you be able to
replace them? I know the tournament has started, but so and so hasn't. Can I start another player
who hasn't teed off yet? Yeah, at least can get something. I think that would be a fair compromise.
But once you've started the tournament, there's nothing you can do in my opinion. The only solution
of this in like a fantasy situation is the PGA Tour Fantasy game where you have a bench.
Maybe in DFS, you have bench spots. And if it's a full tournament contest that you're in,
you have some players you could sub out after the first round. And you can kind of make a selection
within the tournament. So it would be like maybe you choose eight and you take four. I don't know.
I don't know if that works. I don't know how that works with salary cap. I really don't think
there's anything you could do in this situation. I think it's tough luck. This is part of the game
that you play. It's gambling. It's gambling. Yeah, it's complicated. I see backstage here. We've got
we've got Mark Himmelman. Mark, can you hear us? Yes, I can. Yeah, you guys. And I'm listening to
the conversation. And I am aggravated. I'm so aggravated at the one and done league. But anyway,
I'll put my best foot forward and I'll put a smile on my dial and I'll talk golf with you.
Okay, we'll smile on your dial and drive carefully. You know, I hate this when you call in from
the car. But what was your initial reaction? You're seeing Colin work out on a cart going
back to the clubhouse. Well, I was watching it on PGA tour live. And I saw him made the practice
swing. And then the next thing I see him grab his back and I'm like, gosh, in fact, I didn't say
gosh. I said something a little bit more adult in terms of the descriptor, but I won't share that
on this family show. And then I see them. Next thing they're stretching and he's shaking his head.
And you're right away. I'm like, this guy's done. It was amazing because I saw practice swings
where he's trying to stretch his arms into the follow through. And that tells me that something
there is just completely locked up and he can't go. And I was, I sort of felt sorry for myself
to be honest with you because I was like, this is the players. This is big money this week.
But you know, it's golf. This is why I say to you guys all the time when we all prognosticate
and we look out for what's going to happen and how many majors is this guy going to win and stuff.
I'm like, injury happens in the blink of an eye. And it's real life. It's like a reality show.
And so in the end, I matured a little bit and I got over myself and I try to galvanize a
bit of plan for the rest of the years now. Okay. Well, that's very big of you, Mr. Imelmond.
Also, Meena had column or a cow in the one and done. They will, unfortunately, Greg be getting
zero dollars this week. We were, we were commiserating the two of us together. Yes. It is,
it is tough stuff. Let's get to good news out of the morning. And the good news, maybe the most
unexpected news, Justin Thomas. This is me cleaning my lenses if you're watching on YouTube.
What? Justin Thomas, birdies his first three holes and shoots a four under 68 and post one of
the best rounds of the morning. Greg, I saw what he did at Bay Hill. He looked like a six-handed
cap. How is this possible? This was really an incredible performance. I did not see this coming.
Although, you know, typically I would say it's never surprising to me when a PGA tour player goes
out and shoots 68. I think that everybody in the field is capable of putting together one great
round of 68. But when Justin Thomas teed off, like we talked about earlier, I mean, this,
this morning was a lot more challenging than I expected it to be. The afternoon a lot more,
a lot easier than I expected it to be. But these conditions he was playing and were very difficult.
And the only answer I can kind of come up with, he talked about how he wasn't really there
mentally last week. Like he wasn't locked in, he wasn't committed. And sometimes you go to a golf
course that just the way that you see the golf course, you get locked in. You know how focused you
have to be. And all of a sudden, the t-shirts start coming out of the window that you want. You
visualize, your visualization gets a little bit stronger and you can dial some things up. That's
what I was most impressed with with Justin Thomas today. At Bay Hill, he could not get it on the
planet. Probably part of the reason why he kind of, he didn't say this, but why you kind of check
out because you just can't get it on the planet. Well, he drove the wall beautifully today,
hit 9 to 14 fairways and gave himself a lot of wedge opportunities, which is really his bread and
butter.
Callemore Cal, excuse me, I got Callemore Cal on the brain. Justin Thomas,
Justin Thomas has a knack for doing this, Mark. We've seen him go low for 9 or 18. We've seen
him come out of the wrong weather wave. And when he is now positioned himself on the first
page of this leaderboard, he's looking around and he's not seeing a lot of other super stars around
him is the 2019 champion. Yeah, there's a lot of that cliche horses for courses involved.
In my opinion, because look, last year I couldn't break an egg dude to Greg's points.
And if you need an element of your game working this week, it's certainly to drive the ball in
the fairway. And you know, if there's a bugaboo with Thomas, that's what it tends to want to be.
It gets that wide, right shot going on once in a while. But you got to hand it to the guy and
file this in the filing cabinet, whether the file goes, you know, golf is just crazy.
Because he has a guy shot what, 279's last week. And he gets idea in very difficult conditions
and shoots four under. This morning was just hard, because the wind was blowing. Yeah, the rain
was one thing, but the wind was the deal. And then in the afternoon, it really laid down and
conditions were a little easier. But I feel like for the first round, with a tour having set up
in advance of, you know, some maybe very wet conditions, a lot of flags weren't like perched
up mounds and stuff. So you could continue play. So it wasn't there to be had, even though
in the afternoon, it seemed receptive with less wind. You had to play and strike the ball really,
really well. And clearly, JT did that. So I took my cap to the guy because, look, he was ragged
last week. And all of a sudden, now he's firmly in the mix around the golf course that he's had a
lot of success at. Ragged indeed. Ragged by his own standards was Scotty Sheffler, who shot
in even par 72 with a big one-way miss off the tee nearly everything going right. And then right
of right, Mark, I'll bounce it right back to you here. Scotty Sheffler, full of frustration.
Scotty Sheffler, full of a new kind of miss that we haven't seen before. Your assessments of
the way that his swing is shaping up this week. Well, look, he had Randy Smith in town,
and the adjustments I saw the making were sort of in the grip a little bit to strengthen up the
grip to square the face for this right shot that he's had going on. The thing is, you know, watching
how much time he spent on the driver and the lead up to the start of this event was kind of
interesting to me because ordinarily he gets his work done then he leaves. And he was on the
range for hours until then Wednesday. And he was on the range in the rain this afternoon after the
the subpar day for himself. And it's the driver that's the issue. I didn't watch much of the round
because I was preparing for my afternoon assignments. But if you again, playing from the referee,
you're going to struggle. And he had admitted as much. And then they're fiddling around with the
driver and tinkering and stuff. And I don't know if this is correct, correct me if I'm wrong.
But he went back to his old driver to play today. So I'm like, why are we even doing all of this
sort of stuff? Now he's caught in this horrible between a rock and a hard place where it's like,
well, we worked in a new driver. I went back to the old one that didn't work either. So I don't know
where they go tomorrow. I think Randy Smith is working hard right now. So it's not the best spot
in the world to be because the golf course isn't playing short by any stretch of the imagination.
But you have to be prepared to drive us on a few holes. And it's sort of the weakness in the game
for Scotty Rift right now. This 72 Greg, I'm going to say it. And I don't say this often.
This was pretty lucky. I think it should have been a lot worse. I think that he hit a couple of
very wayward drives that were so wayward. He had some gaps. He hit, he made a 27 foot pot,
which yes, that happens, but that's also a bonus. I think this very easily, I'm not going to say
could of, I think it should have been a 75. I think that's fair. I do. I mean, even you look at
his bogies, 14 and seven were two fairways that he missed to the right that he made bogie on.
He made four bogies, two, he was in the fairway. And it's a part five and eight.
You know, he pulled this approach out a little bit, but I don't think that was as bad of a shot as
it looked considering you got to play left of that whole location on the right side of eight.
So really the right miss didn't penalize him too much. I think, look, I was looking at his chart.
And if you look on shot length, they have a chart of all the fairways and greens that you missed
and where, which side they're on. Even the hits, it'll be yes. Did he hit the fairway? Yes,
right. Yes, right. Every single one except for one, 13 of his 14 T shots were on the right side.
It's an incredible number. You never see things like that. And so he clearly lost control of it.
I still wonder the biggest fear, the biggest fear with those right shots is that there's a fear
of left. Now, if it's just overcut in a little bit, I think it's an easy fix for Scotty and Randy Smith.
If it's, if he's fearing the left shot, but you got a problem because every single one of these
T shots at TPC sawgrass left is no good. I mean, you just look through this golf course. It's like
10, you don't want to go left. 11 left, no good. 13, well, 12, there's water left. And bunkers,
you don't, depending on where they put the T's. 14, there's water left. 15, bunch of trees left,
no good. It just goes on and on. Obviously, 18 left, no good. The same is true on the front nine.
So if you're fearing a left shot, it's not a good situation to be. And you're going to lose a lot
of T shots right. So I'm very curious to see if Scotty can get freed up tomorrow.
Because if he can, he's only five shots back. Yeah, five under is the lead. Now, I will confirm
that play has been suspended due to darkness. There are just a handful of golfers. And when I say
handful, I think that's generous thing. There's like three or four guys out on the course right now
playing their final hole, including one at that five under number. We will get there in just one
second. Let me get you a couple other notables here. Ludwig Oberg's three under 69 was one of the
three bogey free rounds. That's it Greg. Three bogey free rounds around TPC sawgrass today.
Ludwig hit 11 fairways and 14 greens in route to his 69. Yeah, this was classic Ludwig Oberg.
If you liked him headed into this week, I know you did Rick. I did too. This is why because he was
extremely accurate off the tee also led the field. And so he's fifth in driving accuracy.
11 of 14 is fifth compared to the rest of the field. And he's first in driving distance all drives.
So not only was he nearly the most accurate in the field, he's the longest and it put himself
in some great positions all day long. And you know, I really, the only two shots I can really
complain about for Ludwig is he had two 65 yard wedge shots that he didn't exactly execute
properly. One was on 12, which is a little tricky. And then the other was on he had like 65 yards
into one. If it wasn't one, it was. Oh, yeah, it was a little thin wasn't it? Is that the one I think
of? Yeah, yeah. Thindy said it's so bad. He hit it like 40 feet long. Yeah. If that's the area
you're struggling with, it's you're at a good place because you're not going to make very many
bogies from 65 yards. You did make two bars. Other than that, I think this was nearly a perfect round
of golf. Let me get you another one here, Marcus, we go through so many names to go through a
four under round of 68 from Cam Young. And this was a little kind of under the radar. You know,
it was late in the day. He was playing on the other side of the golf course. He just makes a couple
of birdies late, including the knife hole, his final hole of the day. Cam Young now has asserted
himself in this championship. Yeah. And, you know, well, look, you say under the radar, he sort of
lives under the radar to be very honest with you. You know, he's softly spoken. Never really much fanfare
around him. But I know Greg's been high on him. As I've watched him over the last few weeks, it's
just like the game is continuing to gain momentum. And he's playing, he seems to be playing with a whole
lot of confidence. And the one thing that's very impressive about him that I think goes on said
is that he really backs himself. You know, ordinarily, the guards that are Uber confident,
and they're sort of the alpha showstoppers. You know, they they they loud about the intention,
where there's this quite confidence right now about Cam Young that's enviable and very,
very impressive. And if he continues to because I feel like there's a real uptick on the greens,
if he continues to put the way he does with the natural way he strikes the golf ball,
he's going to contend. We've seen this in years past where he was running up in majors and such.
So I wouldn't say if you try to convince me that this examination at the stadium course would
really suit his skill set. But when you play confidently, you can basically to Greg's point should
68 anywhere. And if he does four of those, he's going to be a part of the storyline on Sunday.
So I've been very impressed with what I've seen out of him in terms of how the game has been
trending over the last few months and weeks and months. Maybe not the story on Sunday,
but the story of Thursday, guys. I'm looking at five at five under par. That is the lead.
Maverick McNeely did it in the morning, around of 67. And then in the afternoon,
Lee Hodges, Cepstrocker and Saif Fagala catch him with Austin's motherman standing on the
his 18th hole of the day. He's actually on the green 14 feet away on number nine with a pot
for birdie to get to six under and steal this first round lead. But as of this moment,
we've got five at five. Greg, popery, dealer's choice, where do you want to go?
I'd like to go to Cepstrocker. Okay. Let me let me see up on Cepstrocker.
You made birdie on his first two holes of the day, another one on six. And a big old bird
eagle on 16. This was one of the other bogey free rounds of the day. Victor Hovelin had the third
Cepstrocker has started to round into four of a bit. Greg over the course of the last couple weeks.
Yes. I'm looking very strong. And I'm kicking myself because I'd loved Cepstrocker coming into
this week. But I was a little worried about his T-time kind of moved off him a little bit with
PMT time. And it just looks like that was just dead wrong this week. But looking at Cepst play,
this front nine was stellar. Every single hole looked like he had a 15 footer for birdie
and was playing offense and hitting the ball. Great. It got a little bit, it got a little
bit away from him on the back nine. He started missing some fairways. He hit his second shot
into the water at number 11, which really affected his stroke's gain numbers, although he still
did make par. A lot of scramble and including 18 had to chip out partial chip out on 18 and got
up and down from just under 70 yards. And he nearly made it to 17 inches. So it was a really
nice balance. Great ball striking on the front nine. And then he makes the turn. And when things go
a little sideways, he gets it done with a short game of puttin. It is such an eclectic group of
golfers. Cepstrocker, Maverick, Neely, Austin, Smotherman, do we have Mark? He's sitting in the dark
room. Yeah. Okay. You get your pick here. Do you want to talk about McNeely, Lee Hodges,
Sahi Figalla, or Austin Smotherman? Well, I first wanted before I talk about Maverick. I want
to talk about the fact that this golf course is crazy, right? It is so well designed. And, you
know, we'll always sort of say it's the most democratic test because it's not a respectful
of resumes. And if you look at the guys tied after round one, look at Sally and it's round one
still. It's really a hodgepodge, popery, like you call it, of players, where you can't really
throw blanket over them and say they all do the same things. I would say if there is a similarity
between two players, I'd say it was perhaps McNeely and Austin Smotherman. I would say the guy
seems to fit the golf course the best is Cepstrocker. But he, I heard him remark afterwards that
he felt like the game just wasn't there at all. Even though he looked pretty solid on the front
nine. So he's sort of struggling with stuff, but he put together a round. So I'm just looking at
this golf course saying, man, we got a guy from Sahi Figalla who's the ultimate creative golf
series, like a right handed bubble watch. He's curving and high and learn all sorts of
all over the show. Then you got Cepstrocker, it's the thing like Ross Spaghetti. And then you got
Maverick who's long and a great putter. And then you got Smotherman who's long and sort of coming
into his own as a player. So it's a really curious situation right now. And I'm keen to see how
the whole thing shakes out. If you had to hold a gun to my head though and say, okay, who are you going
with for the rest of the tournament? I would say Maverick McNeely without batting my eyelids.
Wow. I'll bat them for you a little bit here. But let me describe what he did here. Mark,
he was top 25 in all four major Stroke Skane categories. It was completely well rounded.
Just the one blemish on the card on number 15. But this man looks to be ready to take the next step.
Yeah, he is. And he's poised and he seems to be playing well everywhere he goes. And he was a
world veteran college. So we know he can do this. He's now got his victory on the PGA tour. And
the logical next step is knocking off one of these big ones. And remember, this was a guy who
I still will argue should have been on the US right of Cup team. And so he's highly respected.
And I just love the way he hits it. It's flat. It's reliable. And I love the way he puts it.
So I think he's mature enough and he's got gumption enough to hang onto this thing and be a factor
on Sunday afternoon. Did you guys hear the Russell Henley Ben Griffin story? Yes. Crazy story.
This is absolutely insane. So I just heard about it. I did not hear about it until after the round.
So here's what happened, Mark. And to everybody listening. So they had the weather delay this morning.
And they held in place. They did not bring the players in. They held them in place. And
Russell was on to green, which is very close to the clubhouse. So it's starting to pour. He goes in,
he's eating lunch. He's eating lunch inside the clubhouse. Ben Griffin walks by. Ben
Griffin's playing in the afternoon and says, or playing later or whatever. And he says, dude,
they're restarting in four minutes. What are you doing here?
And Henley's like, what? He said, him and his caddy are sprinting out there. Very hectic
few minutes. They get back out to two green in time for the restart. But imagine a world in which
Ben Griffin does not walk by and say that to Russell Henley. We might have had a WD this morning
and a DQ this morning. That's insane. Well, that sort of stuff happens. I mean, look,
they're human beings after all. But I'm surprised Russell would sort of be that way inclined.
But he also, he sort of does his own thing a little bit, turned out good because he showed like
four four indoors, right? Well, he was and he was three under after he got back out there.
Yes. He is actually and me as we have this, I think he is actually the favorite to win this
golf tournament right now. He is ten to one. Cameron Young is twelve to one alongside
Sepstrakka and Maverick McNeely. Are we able to sort this by the odds or do we not?
Maybe we can. I think I can sort by the odds. And then Scotty Sheffler is still nine and a half
to one. So Greg, when you are looking at this, what do you see in this board with three rounds to go?
Well, I know Mark spoke very highly of Cam Young. I love where Cam Young is right now.
But I find really interesting on this board is that if you look at the Strokes Gay and T to
Green leader board, everybody in the top ten is in the top ten of the tournament except Chris Kirk
who's tied 29th. He's the only guy. So I mean, it really points to a T to Green contest.
Right now, the Gala, Smotherman, Conners and Fleetwood are your top four. And Cam Young is seventh
in the T to Green contest. But I love the way that he's sitting his irons and
he's as good a putter as any in that top group. I really believe in his putt and stroke. So
Cam Young has my attention. Looks like he's there at sixteen to one. I think that's a fine number
on him. But ultimately, this tournament is wide open. It is completely wide open right now
through one round. Scottie Sheffler isn't a tie for 40th. He's five shots back. Yep.
Have you ever worried about Scottie Sheffler being five shots back? Not with 54 to go.
Not with 54 to go. Do you think he can get his driver sorted out? I don't even really
worry about him being five back with four to go. Let alone 54. Right. So now the problem is
denied to one. So you know, Vegas isn't too worried about it being five back either. That's your
that's your issue. And there are much more many more questions than this isn't the typical
while he striped it and didn't make anything. That's not what happened here. But I do believe he
get that driver back in order. And the even parts are still in the mix. You know, Roy is at
two over. Is that his seven back too much? I mean, it just feels wide open to me right now.
Mark, you are nodding along with that. And I imagine that when we do this tomorrow night,
this leader board's going to look very, very different. I think so. And I've got a scrutiny of it.
So I just want to talk about a couple of the guys that I had for the world feed. But yeah,
the last point I made before we clicked off today was I spoke to our analysts. And I'm like,
the way I saw the golf course play, you know, you would have thought that after the rain delay,
the golf course would have been there to be had. But no one was really getting away. And there was
no wind. And I got the sense that, you know, anywhere like Rory was two over for the day. And I said,
look, he's only seven back. And if he gets up tomorrow morning and just gets under par,
I don't see the golf course playing any easier. I really don't because it's going to firm up.
I think the golf course is probably going to stiffen the examination as the conditions firmer
bit more over the next few days when the wind kicks up again. So it's wide open. And now my group
to today, I had Hideki Matsuyama. I had a zander shaftly in Rory. Now quickly to Rory,
I asked him about the body. He said, now I'm feeling okay. To me, he just looked rusty.
Was finding a two-way miss. He had some spectacular shots and he had some horrid shots. I mean,
he'd have to chip shot on one hole in the par five. And two over was sort of the most he could have
shot. I feel like you'll iron things out because you still got that flat driver that he's
hitting. And I asked him about it on the one hole. And he said, I can count on it so much because
the way he hits it, by getting over the top of it, covering it with a new driver he's got in the bag.
He said it just doesn't cut. The old one used to fade a bunch. So I'm not too concerned about him.
I feel like after a round under these belts, some of that rust will go away. But then a deki Matsuyama.
I didn't see anything really that blew my hair back. And the next thing, he was a couple under par.
I don't know what he finished, but I think it was too under. And then zander shaftly today,
he looked like a guy who was a major championship winner again. Because
like you could watch him play and you're like, well, nothing's really happening. Then you turn
around, you look at the score and he's three under and he's only a couple back. And he made nothing.
And I'm saying nothing today. He made a like a 20 footer, perhaps on 15, 15, 20 footer.
Otherwise, he missed everything. He stood over and he's two back. So if you want someone who's
worthwhile, he's worth a little flutter. If I know what I'm talking about, zander shaftly is
not going away because like you guys always say, you're like, it's the ballstrike is going to come
through. You know, it's the guys who are putting that on going to last. Well, if he finds a way
to wrestle a few puts him, it could be one way traffic. If he keeps hitting the irons,
the way he's been hitting them worth a little flutter gets my heart a little flutter. All right,
Mark, get Mark get out of here. We know, we know you're on to it. We'll see you. Thank you very
much. We'll see you soon. See you. All right, Gregor's just before we get out of here. I just
want to do this because we're doing these every night now. What are you looking forward to tomorrow?
What's the one thing could be player? Could be course? Could be it? What are you just going to?
What's your X factors for tomorrow? Something to keep an eye on?
Well, there's a couple of things. I'm really looking forward to seeing how the wave
advantage shakes out. Is it going to calm down tomorrow afternoon? That was expected early in the week,
although I was looking at the weather today and it's kind of changed and looked like it was going
to pick up again in the afternoon tomorrow on Friday. It looks like it's gusty in the morning
and in the afternoon. What's the wind situation going to be like? Is it going to stay dry tomorrow
afternoon? If it stays dry and windy all day, this golf course is going to get really firm.
That's something I'll be watching for. One of my favorite aspects of TPC sawgrass
is the par-fives. There are some golf courses where a guy gets out of par-five and you know that
you know they're going to make a birdie. You have this sense of, okay, all right, so he's
going to get to six. It's not the case here and I just love watching TPC sawgrass because you
never know what somebody is going to make. They can make a triple, they can make a birdie on
any hole on the whole golf course and that's more rare than it probably should be.
Mine is, I want to see how much dog Rory McRory has in him tomorrow and I know he's fighting it,
but he's going to be fighting the cut line and he's going to get out early and it's going to be a
quick turnaround for him and I'm sure it's going to be a long night, but I want to see how much
dog Rory's gotten in tomorrow or if he just rolls over and kind of takes his miscut in his extra
rest. Well, the good thing for Rory, if he's able to get through tomorrow and get to the weekend,
I imagine the back and the swing and everything will start to be better and better as the week goes on,
but being seven back right now, there are two reasons he doesn't have time for that.
One is 10, 11, 12 is go time, right, you got to go get those right away and you start there.
Rory shoots, if he's 300 through three, the way many players were through 10, 11 and 12 today,
it could be, it gets very excited very quickly and he'll be at that time four, maybe five back,
depending on what Smotherman does and now you're playing a golf tournament. So the start for Rory
will be huge for me. The driver for Scottie's huge too. Not only because I have him in one and done,
he's number one in the world and it seemed to be the only issue. Mina bring the leaderboard up
because this is pure one and done a racer from a producer who is seemingly very upset about her own
one and done selection. I don't see my cute little face next to Ludwig Oberg on this leaderboard
anywhere. I want my credit here. I see nothing there. T10, one of the favorites to win completely blank.
This is your own fault. This is a racer. No, it's because he has that like accent over the A.
So it doesn't match up his name and your face. So that's a programming error and that's funny.
I have learned Greg. I have learned Greg that everything is my fault. So I will also, I will take
this one. Yes, that is true. And it was me. It was me. It is definitely that circle thing that's
over his A that I need to program it. So I don't know how to do that on the computer. If I type
his name, I just type A on the phone, I know how to put that in there, which is cool.
Cool tech trick I have. Yeah, you're a real techie. You do it with on a keyboard on Windows,
it is Alt O229. Oh, I'll remember that. Yeah, no problem. Yeah, I think just the A goes far.
What does that thing called an umla? Is that what it's called? I believe so. Maybe. I don't know.
Okay, not an accent. Take Google. Oh, and it's not a it's not a till date. Okay.
That'll do it. It's been a long day. Tomorrow's going to be a long day. We'll get right back at it.
I hope you all join us again tomorrow. We'll do it Friday, Saturday, Sunday. We'll have a cut to
discuss tomorrow. But for now, oh, remind me tomorrow to tell my column more. I'll just tell it right
now. This is all mean as fault again. So do you remember that mean every time she has an interaction
with a professional golfer, they completely tank. So this started with when Sam Ryder was the 36
whole leader at Torrey Pines and Meena and him were in the gym. He asked to use a machine that she
was using. She said no. And he just completely felt like just completely choked the whole thing.
Wow. Yeah. It was insane. And then on. You're telling the story wrong. This is the story. Please.
Please, please. I'm hosting a show here. Please. I have to tell the story.
Ask if I'm done. And I said no. I'm just being honest. I'm not going to lie. And I didn't even know
who he was. So she did not know who he was. Well, now no one does because he plummeted on the
leader board because this entire career has been derailed by Meena. So I have to admit this on
the Tuesday or I think it was Tuesday. We're in a ice cream shop right here next door. And we're
the only people in there and come walking in our colon and his wife cat. And we're now waiting in
line for ice cream together. And he's, you know, trying out the pistachio and whatever else they
got going on. And I think just sharing an ice cream location with Meena really started this whole
thing because she has the absolute curse of golfers. All right. Well, I don't know if I ever
want to play golf with you, Meena. Don't do it. If this is true, do not do it. But you have to go
to more PGA tour events because this really spices things up. I mean, I hope I hope it doesn't
lead to injury. Well, it did this time, Greg. Yeah. Yeah, that's too bad. Okay. So I run into Adam
Scott. Hopefully he stays okay. How did wait? What kind of run in with Adam Scott? I wasn't there for
that. Well, we saw him at the bar. Oh, we saw him at the bar. Okay. Oh, it's cool. Yeah, it's a
cool guy. But this was this was more intimate with the more cows. So I think I think I think
I think Adam Scott's going to be okay. But yeah, that's if you're a professional golfer,
you do not she will ruin your career. She will ruin your career. Stay away. Yeah, stay away.
But don't stay away from the second cut because we'll be back on Friday. It's that
and Sunday. Big thanks to producer Mina who's got the gift of the curse. That's Greg
Dewshark. I'm Rick game and this has been the second cut. We'll see you next time.
