Who's got one? I got one, Sid. The granny killer story, mate. Can you tell everyone that story
again? It's still good. I don't add on that all the time. Yeah, going up Kenya. I actually went
up to Cairns recently and I didn't realize that part of my trip up to Cairns would
be to speak in front of a shit ton of people which I'm not really good at and there I was
at an auditorium and I couldn't see how many people were there and I was panicking and I started
talking about the granny killer story where people that have heard the episodes I was in the lift
and you don't want people in a lift when you have an inmate and the inmate that I had was a
granny killer and just as the doors are about to shut this arm comes between the doors
and it's a granny and she's like why didn't you hold the doors for me? You're an asshole. I know where
you work. It's like whatever and she just kept berating me. She's like yeah corrective services.
I'm going to report you blah blah blah and then she says come on girls and three more
grannies all pile in the lift and they just pile in like this like I'm allowed to be in here
and I turn to the granny killer who's shackled and he was sweating. He was white. I remember
grabbing him and it was a soaking wet. He's just looking at him like yeah there's me last chance
so I just turned him into the corner and he's just sweating thinking he's my chance and I thought
this is a gel. I thought one of my mates had got his mother and her friends to do it. I thought
this is like can a camera. This can't be real and I remember telling this story up in cans
and not knowing how many people were in the auditorium because the lights are in our face
and when I start telling that story I realized how many people because they're gasping and laughing
I thought holy shit. It's just something you don't expect and it's a true story. So that is me with
the disguised voice because there's a story. There's a story there was a I'm not going to go into
who was but we can beep it out. Yeah anyway it was to do with the journey molding murder. Yes
rape and murder anyway I had that crook at one of the prisoners in the cell. I got a phone call
at home one night it was about two o'clock in the morning they said oh you got to come to work I
said why and they said oh we've had an instant down in I think it was two wean then yeah and I
said what's happened when they said that probably that the inmate had cut off his penis off I said what
and you're right so I went in there and I went to the clinic I went and I spoke to the nurse
then I went into the in the little area where the crook was I said what the fuck mate I said what
did you do he said oh you're true for done this I've done that I said why I noticed you do that
for he said it's got me a trouble all my life and he said I don't want it anymore
mate this is not the way to do it you know and you only cut off it so you know
any right one you don't want to deal with that on your day off one thing one thing led to the other
that cross across across yeah yeah left to right and um and I yeah any right but he
then proceeded to confess other things that he'd done wrong uh which were obviously relayed
to the police and then he was appropriately charged and the old fellow stayed on so you know
they're still in jail so that's crook you know I mean there seems like that yeah yeah so escapes um so one
of the stories that sticks in my mind is about killx helicopter escape in silver water and how
that's incredible and as you talk about in the episode you're actually like it everyone didn't
know what to do and so I'm wondering did either of you have any part of that or do you have any
other escape stories and did you know kill it because his story is just crazy as well I can tell you
that um that escape that he pulled off even the officers that were involved will tell you uh that
was epic like to try and pull that off and achieve it was amazing but what came out out of that
it's it's very hard to find any information about what actually went down after that but um
they had been asking at several jails to put wires across the yard to specifically avoid a
helicopter landing in the yard however unlikely that would be they said we need to have that
and they're like nah we're not doing that and then the helicopter landed it's it's like in the long
bay the Robert Cole escape I was very much involved in that and that officer had put in that report
over and over again saying I've sat in the yard and I reckon it's a very slight chance but a
crime could do this and climb up there and get up there and run along there and he kept putting
the report in putting the report in they're like shut up mate and then when the crime did it
they questioned the officer like you seem to know a lot about this so well you all would have
known about this if you had have read my report the past nine years and they're like okay shut up
we'll just I think I think jails itself would have been designed years ago they always thought
a bit like castles back in the medieval state the threat was from the side or from the front and
so they built perimeters around the jails to stop the threat and also underneath but they never
thought about on top and that is a jails weakness is from the air we see it now
drones dropping drugs dropping whatever or picking up things they come down they can camera
things they can pick things up they can drop things from a height so yes there is a lot of
netting across certain jails now then it never was then no until killing and that's right you know
and but I think there needs to be in the future more protection for all parties from above and
and and then that also goes through when we're talking about microwaves and and telephones and
things like that then there is jammers in certain jails how effective are they I don't know
this here that's where coal escaped from Long Bay hospital and just on what we're talking about
dropping stuff over the wall I've worked there a lot so around that area there used to be a tennis
court and we would actually be out there playing tennis with people that are highly
medicated and dribbling and falling over but it's it's something that we do it's just a weird
quirk of what we do and the way inmates used to get drugs in they would know that there's a tennis court
there so people with chuck tennis balls full of drugs so cream like I've played tennis with creams
they hit it over the fence can you go in the stair I was in chief so you go grab the ball chuck it
back in and that was the first time they realized that that's what they were doing because
got the drugs and a g-banger in it and officer had a tennis racket picked up the ball went to hit
it went what the fuck says and the same with pigeons yep they used to kill pigeons fill them full
of drugs and throw them over into the jails so there's a dead pigeon that like sweep up go grab
that dead pigeon he's like 100% I will full of drugs oh yeah there's been they're very they're very
ingenious yes they've got a lot of brains to figure this stuff out all right who's got another question
yes me yes before you were talking about spinners tell me about um one of the weirdest things
a spinner has said to you over the years yeah so that's that same place there there was Long Bay
hospital I used to work in D Ward actually when you when you first started you weren't allowed to
work in D Ward because they were the most off-tap they were unwell highly medicated and they were
prone to just go absolute that shit crazy so you had to have a bit of time up until you could work
in D Ward and the guys in there thought I would be good in D Ward for some reason and so I worked
in there a fair bit one day I walk in there it was like a little park there's be like a couple of
park benches and the crims would just sit there um playing guitar would have sit there smoking so
I'm sit there one day and this crim comes up to me I'm having a smoke the crim comes up and he's
like chief I'm Jesus and I absolve you of all your sins I'm like thanks mate and he walks off
there's another inmate comes up and he's like he's a fucking liar he's a fucking liar and like calm
down what's your problem with him he's like he's not fucking Jesus I said well he told me it's
Jesus how do you know he's not Jesus he's like because I'm fucking Jesus and I absolve you
of all your sins I'm fine about okay cool cool I'm sin free from both of you now and he walks off
and then a third crim comes up he's like I'm going to punch on with everyone here my shut up what's
your problem he's like I'm Jesus I'm okay I've had enough of this and I'm like oh he says 28 inmates
in this big yard I'm like wait which one of you is Jesus and 28 hands go up
am I all right well Jesus wouldn't behave this poorly Jesus would behave so I want you to all
behave and shut the fuck up and they're like okay yeah okay we can do that I have no idea what
they watched on TV or something but there was like 28 Jesus is that day I'm at them all I can give
you a couple of spinners one spinner it was it was it was crazy anyway it was obviously brought in
and it was it had a mixture of different cocktails of drugs and alcohol and it was he's he's
birthday and the end of the rate one thing led to another his wife went to give him a kiss
and for his birthday when they bought the cake out and he better a nose off and anyway about three or
four days later you know he's in the cell and he's going crazy I don't know I'll go and see
you know I said what's what's going on my is it what the hell am I here for what am I doing here
I shouldn't be here I should be at home you know I said mate do you know what you're done
is it no what the hell did I do I said you beat your Mrs nose off
is it all you know and I said oh my so that's I suppose is he a spinner I'd say yeah because he
was spinning right out yeah and I don't think that's normal no and I thought oh geez
hey this is Paige the Sorbo from Giggly Squad and today I want to talk to you about boost mobile
quick question why are we letting our phone bills bully us here's a money tip stop paying a

it's the proven way to simplify bill pay and maximize cash flow wants to learn more visit bill dot
com slash proven for a special offer and another spinner is in the cell he's posting up and down
paste down what's going on he wanted to get out what which I can understand
but he said I need to get out of your chief I need to get out I can't handle it anymore I'm
gonna yeah it's so good I said just wait I'm gonna sort it out for you he said hey gonna do
that hey I said glue with me mate I've got a truck I said you look out that back window I said
over there I said there's gonna be a big white truck come over the hill I said it's gonna come
in here I said when that truck comes in here it's gonna be a couple of people come up and pick
you up put you in the back of that truck and I said they're gonna take you out I said where you
go I said it's up to you thanks chief I'm glad you're looking after me you're the only one I trust
chief you know yes no worries mate over you guys in the truck are you enough next job
yeah I think all that spinners are present truck spinners are everywhere there's a lot of spinners
and yeah depends it there in toxicator then go like us so I and all drugs I play guitar and I'm
sitting in the yard and the crimson used to be out of play guitar I sit there in the yard and play
with them and it was like that doesn't sound good yeah no but you know what I mean I play guitar
with the mates and my mates like oh have you seen this crimm he's unreal on the guitar
I'm like you joking I'm looking at this crimm he can barely shuffle along his drooling I was like
now maybe he's like yeah yeah watch he's like hey come over play set a song on your guitar
and he sits up on the bench he's like you want to hear me play guitar mate yeah man
hit me and he looks at it for a while and he's prepping
so he's got a voice of an angel as well yeah right let's see how you at
and the officers like you actually thought he was going to be good
how do you get positive feedback I did but no he's no good who's got another question I actually got
a question yeah so amongst amongst the the CEOs right so you give nicknames to crims what is your
favorite crimm nickname story that was only between all all of the screws oh piggy piggy Harris
oh piggy hours yeah we mentioned him in an episode yeah piggy piggy uh like pigs
you know intimate way hence his nickname piggy he was out of any planes he got removed from the
pigs and they had to get rid of all the pigs because of what piggy done yeah yeah and I remember
in visits CIP uh piggy we're told in stop kissing your mother that's how piggy's life was so and yeah
don't say too much about that because mwrc episodes coming up and I've got a story for all y'all
all right I won't blow your mind it should be very soon next question next question next question
if anyone's listening to this and wants to sponsor this podcast then the episodes will come out
very much sooner yes random person I've never seen before said I've tried bronzing at home it's
not very pleasant thanks for introducing that to me but um of the top five worst things you've
seen while you've been on the job where's it rank okay so one thing about the first episode when
it came out the first episode was all gonna was I'd had it all mapped out it was nearly finished
it was all about how no one grows up and someone says hey little fella what do you want to be
when you grow up no one says a prison officer it's bizarre that uh people get into this job but
as soon as you get in you pretty much never leave so the whole first episode of prison chronicles
was gonna be about that and about the officers and that will be another episode where we talk
specifically about the officers but I tried the first episode to explain things and try and get
you guys a sense of what it's like and towards the end of it I mentioned some of the stuff that
you will see like bronzing up which is uh it makes just smearing feces all over themselves and it
was right at the end of the episode and then once that episode came out Twitter blew up and it was
just hashtag bronze up everyone just could I got bombarded with messages talking about bronzing up
yeah I like it I can give you see some horrible things I've got to categorize them the worst
suicide ever seen was a guy that come in he was he's on a he got a at that point in time there
was a drugs going out that gave you extreme high but they also gave you the extreme low and he
hung himself in a cell and he is he throughout the hanging he obviously wanted to not
continue but they measured the top of his fingernail to his
finger and he had seven centimeters of concrete dust a seven millimeters of concrete dust
and the scratches were in the wall like that and so that's probably the worst suicide I've ever seen
the worst murder I've ever seen was bloke he had his he's don't he's dead obviously
no hold and he was a sex offender back in the 60s he was murdered in 86 in Long Bay
and two bloke set killed him they put his smash his head against the toilet bowl and his
brain was about four feet away from his head and so it was right open
still have to try and revive him when I do yeah yeah I said to the sister I said no wait I said
sister that's his brain yeah she said no we're going to keep going to the doctor come
and so that's and then I've seen some good fights some wacky do fights and you know coins
be reels comes in as per escapes there's been some very good escapes as in well planned well
coordinated things so there's there's a lot of them but I think Sid's got an episode coming up
on them at a later stage I've got a whole series coming up series coming soon contraband contra
band and this might might go down that well but we're at we had to go search and one night at
mullower which is a female jail and this is back then when they weren't allowed radios but there's
a radio playing and a lady had smuggled in a little transistor through her koala prison purse
koala purse yeah and and we couldn't it's you only turned it on at nighttime and so we were
walking around the back of the cells trying to work out where the radio sound was coming what
cell it's coming from and then we hit cell we found it yeah but that's how she got it in and
so that was that was a good contraband fine we also found some very other unusual items that
I'll just leave that to your imagination yes in different cells let's let's do two more questions
okay soon as I you said prison purse what is the funniest thing you've found in a prison purse
so in the old days the inmates could still smoke but they're only allowed to have matches they
couldn't have a lighter but it was a prized possession if you had a lighter and we had this
inmate who was in a safe cell he's not allowed to have anything he's just got a gown that he can't
rip up he's got no sheets he's just got a mattress that they can't tear up and he's in there
and I look over and he's smoking a cigarette I was like how the fuck has this happened
and I was determined to find out like there's no way he can light that smoke but he did
and then I'm watching the camera and he's got a lighter I was like not only like this is impossible
but he's also got a lighter so I go over there I'm like wait give me the lighter he's like
I don't have a lighter but you do have a lighter I know you've got a lighter give me the lighter he's
like I'll give it to you if you can tell me what color it is so I don't know how come you're
making up the rules mate but but you're not allowed to have the lighter give me the fucking lighter
he's like you think I've got a lighter I said I saw you on the camera mate you got a lighter give
me the lighter he's like all right if you can tell me what color it is I'll give it to you I said okay
I said it's probably fucking brown because I know it's up your ass but prior to that it was white
and there's just these pores and he looks at me and he's like
you got me chief and he reaches in it's the lighter out
and goes to hand it to me I'm like put it on the floor you just strut through the hatch he's like
he's like he's like you've got me you knew you knew it was white I'm like fuck him whatever just give it to me
yeah uh funny a senior I've seen oh jeez like we took I'm sorry sorry I've got another one
though I've got one that'll top that part you go go go and all right this we took him to
paramatter uh he had to go to court sky and we put him in a cell for another bloke and any
rate magistrate says okay calling him up the court open cell he's on all fours his mouth open
and the other inmate's line back like this I said hey Kenny it was performing a oral sex act
on this other prisoner oh yeah and all right I said what the hell are you doing mate I said get
upstairs I said you're going to court anyway he said you won't tell anyone will you truth I said
darn hard it's safe for me anyway so it goes up and then we take him down he gets his sentence
oh you know he's a German and then he we're taking down we're taking back the jar we took him
straight into the boss and we said we said tell the boss you know oh Kenny's been
performing oral sex on other prisons down in the paramatter courthouse he said is that right
he says yes he said you're locked up for three days he said I want you to these officers are
going to take you back to yourself you're going to clone your teeth he said and then you're going to
stay in here for the next three days no worries truth and then Kenny says he said don't tell the
other prisoners boss he said don't tell the other prisoners so I mean obviously the other
prisoners found out somewhere and and Kenny was in demand there's always those inmates that
have extra biops and stuff I don't know I don't know what they're doing so yeah there's a lot of
that sort of stuff so we take one more question yep so when it comes to like Satan's cell
for instance and we had occurrences at night whether there be weird sounds ghosts or what you're
thinking what's going on that was a cool episode what stories do you have did you like that episode
loved it I was worried that that wouldn't go over that well that episode it took me a long time
to put it together because I thought people would think that's bullshit but the phone ringing
on the wall that was me and I absolutely shut my pants wouldn't realise that it's not hooked up
to anything if you got ghost stories if the walls could talk you know and you see like a lot of
the sandstone jiles when I talk about sandstone I talk about paramedic bathas the old mateland
um goblin the old jiles and they've got a lot of it inscriptions on the wall a lot of people
have put their poems on there their stories whatever and and it's like it's like going into an
art gallery some cells you've got all over the roof I mean they they try and they keep them painted
and everything but people put their their stories on the cells paramedics are great example
that's still there paramedic still got the morgh it had the morgh there where they used to burn
the bodies because back in those days um and yeah and there's a lot of deaths and there's a lot of
you know obviously suicides end all murders and they stay there they're they are a part of history
and they do come out and they're talked about years and years later they still got the gallows
at Long Bay in in the sea I well what I call the sea I think I think I think I'd talk about
in the Long Bay episode the gallows and that's a prestige cell yeah if you get if you're an
mate that you get put into the end of the what they call the death cell death cells got double doors
so you have a door and then you have a grill so when they open the door then the officer can walk
in is I've got to say probably two or three two feet let's just say two feet before the grill
and so that's the death cell so what the person does is say well what they would do if they if
that was the situation today they come out of there they're on officer would unlock their cell
and then they'd go to the grill that open the grill the person would come out and then probably
only about three or four feet from there is the rafter and the the drop plate all right you've got
it yeah there's a drop plate there hey this is Paige de Sorbo from gigley squad and today I want to

that we would have you know that's that's best to go into that cell you get them off the truck
and they're like no i'm not going in that cell yeah i don't want to go in that cell
yeah the only thing that's the only thing that's not there so that's the rafter up up there
and there's you can't search for me but there's a hole in the middle and that's where the
obviously the rape would be so they're coming under that last cell that cell you walk on to the
trap door and the person would stay in there obviously and there's so that's that's that's
long bay yeah that's that's long bay that's still there that's still there that's a recent photo of it
that's the CIP still there like that what used to I I call the central industrial prison
that's the def cell that's a def cell that's the plate that's the landing there or the landing
is long here that's the rafter and yeah so the the little extra part of the cell was so the priest
could go in and sit with the mate and uh and do there and say time and stuff which keeps the distance
yeah all right last question then we're out because I want to get on the long bay larga
are you both drinking long bay larga who who has been drinking long bay larga's that's the way hi okay
so obviously the big news this week is the verdict for the mushroom killer two part question
firstly do you have any insider info on Aaron Pattinson that hasn't made the news and then secondly
how do you think she'll be treated and what will her experience be like when she does go to jail
I found that uh whole case fascinating that people that you would speak to would say
do you reckon she's guilty it's like yeah yeah not a fucking criminal mastermind old Aaron
it is uh unbelievable that people would actually think that she was going to get away with that
um I haven't spoken to anyone that's had to deal with her she would uh if it's a male
mate I'm assuming it's the same with female inmates but when you're such a high profile in
mate like that you instantly go in on protection so that people can't uh get at them um she's in
Victoria so I've got no idea about that well in Victoria they don't wear green they wear blue
and in Queensland they wear brown and in New South Wales they wear green and she'd be going through
special management process she'd be placed in uh separation where she would be monitored by people
assessed by medical and psychological she'll have to have a pre-sentence report done
which will be by psychiatrists and other other people and that will all be go go under the court
for the presentation she won't be working in the kitchen I'll guarantee you
and and and I think she'll never get a job in the kitchen but at the end of the day look she's a
a high profile person so what'll happen she'll be a target uh she'll be stood over she'll
come to the pressure the article with them in the uh media the other day was her unknown millions
she is going to be a massive target in jail yeah well that's right and if she's got money attached
to her rest assured that money will be extracted through a standover techniques and uh so she'll have
to cough up and to stay alive pretty much with the full support of the officers all right that's
enough for today I think okay let's get on the long bay lagers with everyone here there's a
being informative is it being good is it being yeah that's a remain and and as it created some awareness
and as it created some knowledge and and and all you know has it been what you expected
yeah well that's the main thing that's the main thing all right thank you very much for turning up
