On May 1st, firefighters jumped on a blaze at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral, the largest
in the UK and 5th biggest in Europe.
It sparked as an electrical fire on a balcony up in the tower around 244 pm.
Crews rolled up just five minutes later with two engines in an aerial ladder, hitting
the main flames hard.
By 3.22 pm, they had the bulk of it knocked out and started securing the site.
Crews and staff cleared out fast with no injuries, including a group of women from Tennessee
stopping off their cruise ship.
They were gutted to miss it on their first Liverpool trip, but vowed to circle back.
The cathedral shut down for the rest of today, while teams isolate power and wrap up checks.
Expected open normal tomorrow, though the tower stays off limits.
Bioregs and police are still posted up nearby as they dig into what went wrong, so locals
keep clear till it's fully squared away.
