Lufthansa Cuts 20K Flights, Birmingham Airport Hit
On April 27, Lutanza is slashing 20,000 short-haul flights through October to cut jet fuel costs
and is hitting Birmingham airport, hard with four more cancellations today.
Earlier this month, the airline announced these cuts across its six big hubs,
like Frankfurt and Munich, blaming fuel shortages and skyrocketing prices.
Tied to the war in Iran, travelers are feeling the pinch as the group acts as about
120 flights daily just for fuel savings while outfits like KLM, Air France,
and Delta have trimmed routes too or jacked up fares. On April 25,
five Lutanza flights to and from Frankfurt got scrubbed from Birmingham,
and now today's lineup includes the 1020 AM.
Departure, a 9.45 AM arrival, a 9.46 PM arrival,
plus one more early Tuesday morning. With airlines scrambling amid these global fuel
woes, keep an eye on your Birmingham itineraries and brace for more ripples in the skies ahead.
