Luis Robert Jr. Makes Spring Debut, Mets Eye Opening Day

For the New York Mets, it's March 13th, and here's what's going on.

Luis Robert Jr. made his first spring training appearance for the Mets on Thursday,

playing five innings in center field during a three-to-one loss.

To the Cardinals, the 28-year-old went one-for-three at the plate, marking a key step

for one of their projected opening-day starters. Only Francisco Lindor remained sidelined

among the Mets expected opening-day lineup as he rehabs from left-hand surgery

and works on defense and minor. Bleed games. Robert had been held back early this

spring to build strength in his lower body after leg injuries limited him the past two seasons.

Manager Carlos Mendoza praised Robert's readiness and hints it at another star Friday night,

aiming to ramp him up to full games before the March.
