Lukashenko & Kim Sign Friendship Treaty, Strengthen Ties

On March 27, Belarus president Alexander Lukashenko wrapped up a two-day visit to North

Korea by signing a friendship and cooperation treaty with leader Kim Jong-un, the leader's

exchanged unusual gifts during the ceremony in Pyongyang, with Lukashenko handing over

a Belarus-made assault rifle and Kim presenting A, soared along with a large decorative

vase.

They also inked several other agreements covering education, health care, agriculture

and more.

Russians focused on ramping up high-level visits and tackling share concerns over international

issues.

Lukashenko called the treaty a major step forward, noting that ties between the nations had

grown much stronger lately.

Kim voiced full support for Belarus amid Western pressures, while both leaders highlighted

the need for closer unity among independent countries.

This comes as both nations' deep in alliances with Russia.

Belarus has hosted Russian forces and nuclear weapons for the Ukraine conflict, and North

Korea has supplied troops and munitions to Moscow's efforts.

With diplomatic links dating back to 1992 and a prior meeting last September, their

partnership now looks set to expand even further in.
