Lynch Denied Parole: Still Not Ready for Release

On March 26, Daniel Lynch, the man behind the horrific acid attack on TV presenter Katie Piper, has been denied parole.

The former boyfriend arranged for sulfuric acid to be thrown in her face back in March 2008, leaving her blind in one eye and with, severe burns.

Convicted in 2009, he got a life sentence with a minimum of 16 years.

Now, after more than 18 years inside, parole cheese ruled he's not ready for release.

Lynch himself told the panel he's not prepared to rejoin society yet.

The hearing held over two full days this month via video link, reviewed piles of evidence on his case.

Officials noted the attack was a clear act of revenge after their brief relationship soured.

Katie Piper have been terrified at the thought of him getting out, especially since her attacker, Stefan Silvestra, is still on the run.

She's endured hundreds of surgeries for the permanent damage, which scarred her face and wrecked her eyesight.

The parole bore carefully weighed her victim's statement on the lifelong impact.

During the hearing, Lynch finally admitted to the rape, assault, and putting her through a terrifying ordeal.

He'd made some progress with programs on anger management, relationships, and victim awareness, plus earning qualifications.

But the panel said he still lacks control over his emotions, especially in relationships, and needs more work on sexual violence and consent issues.

No transfer to open prison either, as his risk factors like poor decision-making and lack of empathy remain too high.

He'll get another shot of parole down the line, keeping the focus on public safety for now.
