Machete Attack on Boys, Five Charged

0:00On April 2nd, police and Shirley have charged five people after a brutal machete attack on three boys outside a shop on Stratford Road. It went down around 9 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, leaving two of the boys aged 15 and 14 rushed to the hospital. One suffered injuries that could change his life forever. Earlier charges included a 16-year-old boy hit with attempted murder, assault, and carrying a bladed weapon. He's still locked up awaiting trial. Now, three more teens, two 14-year-olds and a 15-year-old face counts of wounding and violent disorder. They'll see the Birmingham Magistrates Court on April 21st. The attack shook the community hard, with families left reeling from the violence hitting so close to home. Folks in Shirley are talking safety, especially after dark on busy streets like that. Detective Inspector Stuart Lewis called this a big step in their probe, thanking locals for tips that pushed things forward. Two adults, Navid Collily, and Sadia Khan, both 43, got charged with messing with justice. They're due in court next month.
