Madubuike Back for Ravens Opener | NFL News

About this episode

Baltimore Ravens defense just got a huge boost as Nnamdi Madubuike clears his physical ahead of their season opener against the Colts — the Pro Bowl defensive tackle missed 15 games last year after neck surgery, but with over 200 tackles and 30 sacks in seven seasons, his return could be a game-changer. Coach Jesse Minter is being cautious, though, prioritizing Madubuike’s health while weighing his impact on the field. Fans will have to wait and see if he suits up for kickoff Sunday.

On September 8th, alright so the Baltimore Ravens are gearing up for their season opener this Sunday against the Colts. And it looks like they might be getting a major peace back on the defensive line. Defensive tackle and AMD Madubu Ekei, who missed most of last season with a neck injury, has passed his physical. Madubu Ekei went down early last year, in just the second game, and ended up needing surgery. He's been out for 15 games total, so this is a pretty big deal for their defense. He's been a pro-bola twice, so his presence is definitely missed. The team's head coach, Jesse Mentor, is being cautious though. He said they need to make sure they're protecting the player and not rushing him back too soon, which is understandable given the severity of the injury. He's been with the Ravens for six seasons now, racking up a serious stat line, over 200 tackles, 42 for loss, and 36 in. 78 games, plus he just signed a big 4-year 98-million dollar contract back in March. So, while he's clear to play, they're still evaluating the best way to bring him back

into the fold. We'll have to wait and see if he's on the field for kickoff this Sunday. That's the story for today, NFL News Today, driven by AI. I'm Cory with the story.
