MAINTENANCE DAY: San Jose Sharks' Mario Ferraro SPARKS Trade Speculation | Thompson TRADED For Woo

Yes, we're talking about practice.

The thing sport, I love the most practice.

Mario Furr who gave us all a scare and just as a reminder to not panic when guys aren't

on the ice, we'll talk about Furr taking a maintenance day.

Look at why it looks like we're probably going to get the same lines against the blues

on Friday night.

And we get an NHL trade as Jack Thompson is traded for JetWoo.

We'll discuss why and get to know JetWoo just a little bit.

So let's get started with, of course, with the big news of today, Mario Furr, missing

practice because of a maintenance day.

And for a guy like Mario Furr, again, I complained about Mario Furr, the hockey player.

You will never hear me complain about Mario Furr's toughness.

That dude is an absolute warrior, tough as nails.

If he is not out there, it's probably for a good reason.

So if you remember a couple of games ago, over the weekend, Furr took like an elbow to

the chest and needed like, it took some effort for him to get off.

This is really the first practice since then, where the sharks have had practice, right?

You know, you had Monday off, you had a game on Tuesday, like it would make sense to try

to give one of your veteran players some time off here.

And I think we learned anything from Shakira Mookamadulins missed absence last week.

It's not to panic.

And I know tomorrow, it's trade deadline, right?

The first thing that all of our minds go to is, well, Mario Furr is getting traded.

And that doesn't mean Mario Furr will won't get traded, but again, right?

It's very easy to kind of jump to the gun, and I've done it.

We've all done it before of this thing is happening.

So it must be x, y, or z.

So again, we'll see with Furr, I think he stayed, my official position is, I think he stays

and I think they let him walk at free agency because I don't think they're going to be able

to find a replacement for Mario Furr with the trade deadline tomorrow.

We'll see.

It's still kind of my official position with Furr, but again, if there's anybody in the

Sharks organization who is more than deserving of a maintenance day, it's Mario Furr.

The dude lays it on the line every game we write again.

I complained about Mario Furr, the player in his decision making and stuff, but you'll

never hear me complain about if this dude, this dude's toughness, Mario Furr, and from

Worsovsky, he's expected to be available for the game against the Blues if he's here.

So looking at the practice reports, it does look like we're going to have the same lines

as we did against the Blues.

We'll have no more when they have morning skate on Friday morning, but the lines, Graph

Cell, Bernie Smith, Kershev, Wenberg, Sherwood, Equin, Misa Tafoli, Goudreau, Aceptor, God

Bet.

Defensively Orlov, Klingberg, Mookwood, Dillon, Lildragon, Filled in for Furrero, would assume

Furrero would go right back playing with Okamadillon, and then Dickinson, Deharnaise.

So no changes there.

Powerplay groups look the same Orlov, Celebrity, Smith, Tafoli, Wenberg on Powerplay 1.

Klingberg, Kershev, Equin, Sherwood, Misa on Powerplay 2.

We don't know the starter, of course, we'll find out tomorrow.

I would assume the Delk, it'll be interesting, right, where you kind of go with this, where

you have a back-to-back, you know, the Delkovich and Asgrover are going to both play.

The Delkovich is kind of playing sparingly here, as of late, whatever net gets the net,

I guess the quote-unquote, the weaker team in the Blues here, but is a kind of a conference

game, or do you put Asgrover in, do you want Asgrover playing the Isles?

So it'll be interesting to see how they kind of approach this, again, they're both going

to play.

It's just who is going to start on Friday and who is going to start on Saturday there.

So I kind of would go Ned on Friday just to kind of get him some action and give Asgrover

another rest day before he plays on Saturday, especially in a back-to-back situation.

So that's what I would do, but who knows.

So it looks like everything should be pretty much the same for the Sharks, and after that

a crazy victory against the Canadians, doesn't really feel like you should kind of change

too much here for San Jose.

So we're going to look at an AHL trade here, as Jack Thompson was traded to the Abbas

for Earth, to the Vancouver Connects organization, an exchange for JetWoo, so we'll get to know

JetWoo a little bit, and then why I think the Sharks made this trade to acquire JetWoo

and maybe give Jack Thompson do him a solid here.

So we'll get to that in just one second.

All right, we had an AHL trait here as the San Jose Sharks sent defenseman Jack Thompson

to the Abbas for Vancouver Connects, Abbas for Connects for defenseman jet woo.

So let's start with, let's start with why the Sharks did this, and I think it's more about

Thompson, right? Thompson has kind of been passed up, didn't really look like a clear path

to Jack Thompson playing NHL games, so I think the Sharks kind of did him a solid by sending

him to a team like the Vancouver Connects, where he's going to get like, I would be surprised

if Jack Thompson is not playing in the NHL for the Connects, giving the status of their

roster, I guess. Right, the Connects right now, you have Heronik, you have Patterson,

Yves Zibulium, you have Bill under, like you have some guys here, I know they just lost

Lost Pier, all of Joseph, you have like Jack Forber, this is very much I think you're for the

Connects, kind of like what the Sharks did, right? You'd get taken a flyer on a guy here,

you know, in Thompson, there's only 23 right handed shot and is an RFA eligible player.

Like this makes a lot of sense for them to kind of take a shot here, he turns 24 here in a

couple weeks for Jack Thompson, makes a lot of sense and I think for San Jose, right, it was pretty

clear, he wasn't going to play in the NHL, so Sharks, I think kind of made the best of a tough

situation here by acquiring Jet Wu, so Jet Wu's 25, turns 26 in July, he will be a UFA at the end

of this season where he is eligible to go sign elsewhere, right handed defenseman, six foot

205 pounds was a second or second round pick of the Connects back in 2018 draft, the Brian

Murkley draft, if you're keeping track, 37th overall, a player who's just not been able like,

kind of dealt with some injuries, was supposed to be their shutdown, like talking to my friend

Lachlan who covers the Connects organization, supposed to be kind of their future shutdown

defenseman, never really panned out into that, but has really kind of carved out a role with the

Connects, so Abbotsford Connects, so he's been in the NHL with the past couple, you know, since 2020,

was with the Unica team before they moved over to Abbotsford, came up through the WHO,

man, I remember talking about it at the start to draft him way back in the day in 2018,

but he's won an A, he's a leader, he was on this team that won the Calder Cup last year,

this season with the Abbotsford Connects, he's played 26 games, so he's dealt with some injuries,

one goal, seven assists, eight total points, 78 pims, last season, 67 games, two goals, 16 assists,

18 total points, 90 pims, also had six points and 22 playoff games as well, so I think he kind of,

especially when you look at the Barracuda's defense, right, you have Luca Kenyoni, who's going to

like kind of the star of the show offensively, you have Lucas Carlson, who has had an excellent

season for them offensively, you have Matthias Haveled, who is kind of the next man up offensively

for them, and then right, you have guys like Hasheh, who's a defensive defenseman,

Mullen Allen, who's a defensive defenseman, and Wu, I think gives you another one of those hard

nose defensive defenseman type of players for this Barracuda team and just adds some more depth,

this is not just like Jack Thompson's much more of a two-way defenseman than Jet Wu, but I think

for this Barracuda team, which is kind of expected to make a big time playoff run,

having a guy like Jet Wu who's been there, done it, and maybe kind of fits the mold a little bit

more of what the Barracuda are looking for here, it really kind of gives you three even pairs of,

defensive defenseman with offensive moving puck, defensive defenseman with an offensive puck

mover, defensive defenseman with an offensive puck mover, like on all three lines there, and I

think kind of helps to balance out the line. So, you know, very, you know, feel bad that Jack Thompson

got moved, really liked all my interactions with Jack Thompson, seemed like really nice guy.

Sorry, tough break for Ethan Cardwell as Thompson and Cardwell were best of friends there, but,

you know, unfortunately, you know, like Thompson's got to have a better chance to play NHL games in

Vancouver than he is in San Jose at this point. So, that's going to be it for me today. We'll
