Deuteronomy 31:6 NIV
Determine on me chapter 31 verse 6, the new international version. Be strong and courageous
to not be afraid or terrified because of them. For the Lord your God goes with you. He
will never leave you, nor forsake you. Bible before breakfast, Mildred Kings will
go here. Good morning. We're still talking about making big moves with God and the
series is on day 4 and today we're talking about moving before you feel ready. We've talked
about intimacy, we've talked about obedience. Now let's talk about that part that nobody puts
on the visual board. Obedience when you don't feel ready. Because let's be honest, just because God
says make big moves, doesn't mean you feel excited about it. Sometimes the instruction comes and
your stomach just drops. Faith is not the absence of fear, it's the movement in spite of it.
Faith says yes while your feelings are still negotiating. Because 2 Corinthians 5 verse 7 tells us in
the personal translation that we live by faith and not by sight, we live not by what we see without
eyes. Notice it doesn't say that we live by how we feel. It says we live by faith. So why don't we
feel ready? Some of us hesitate because well we don't feel qualified. Those constant questions
who are mine in the grand scheme of things. I'm not experienced enough. I don't have the right
credentials. Or maybe you're afraid to feel because you're thinking what if I embarrass myself,
what if it doesn't work? Or maybe you're one of those who like to have all the answers. You're asking
yourself how will it work? What's the full plan? What's step 12? And God says I am step 12. You see
when it comes to making big moves, absolute trust is the requirement. Obedience requires absolutely
trust. That one, God doesn't call the qualified. He qualifies the code. First Corinthians chapter
1 verse 27, the message translation says, isn't it obvious that God deliberately chose men and
women that the culture overlooks and exploits and abuses? He chose these new bodies to expose the
hollow, pretentious of the somebody's. That simply means that if you feel overlooked on the
qualified or underestimated, you're actually a prime candidate for what God wants to do.
For as long as I've long gone, I have never heard that God's candy resume and said,
ah yes, finally someone impressive, no, he calls and then he equips. God knows that the only
thing that he, the only thing that he can actually use are flood vessels because all men are
flood at best. So God knows that he doesn't have much to work with. So if he calls you, he must
equip you. The second thing that you have to trust is the fact that God cannot feel and listen,
he's going with you. Isaiah 41 verse 10, the message translation is one I love so much and I could
often. God says, don't panic. I'm with you. There's no need to fear for I am your God. I'll give you
strength. I will help you. I'll hold you steady and keep a firm grip on you. Notice he doesn't say
I'll send you. He says, I'm with you. If the one who cannot feel is working beside you, then failure
loses his finality. He says, I will give you strength. I will help you and the best part, I will hold
you steady. Listen, the third thing you need to trust absolutely is that God knows what he's doing.
Isaiah 55 verse 8, the message translation says, I don't think the way you think, the way you work
isn't the way I work. Just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than
your ways. Listen, God has it figured out. You don't need all the answers. You only need the one who
has them and he has promised to be with you and never leave you. Interestingly, something happens
in a couple of years ago. I remember praying about something and in the midst of my pain thing,
oh God, I hope you know what you're doing because I'm going through too much and I often have
this ghetto conversations with God. I often have those, oh Lord, this is a bit too much from where I
stand. Maybe where you sit in heaven. You can see everything clearly from here. Oh, it is not
looking good. So please, I hope you know what you're doing and I remember on that, they just flipping
my Bible, reading Jeremiah 29 and then just right after having that conversation with God saying,
I hope you know what you're doing because this is too much. First line, message translation of
Jeremiah 29, 11 says, I know what I'm doing. I had the love out loud. I said, Lord, you do have
a sense of humor. He says, I know what I'm doing. I have it all planned out. Plans to take care of you.
Not abandoned you. Plans to give you the future that you hope for.
God has the answers. With you, he's not doing guesswork. He's not playing with your life. He's
very clear on what he wants to do. And listen, he's doing it. God knows exactly what he wants to do.
You don't need all the answers. You only need the one who has them. Let's look at Gideon.
One of the most reluctant heroes I've ever met in my life and studied the Bible.
When God found him, he wasn't heading an army. Guess what he was doing? He was hiding.
He read Judges 6 chapter 12. It says that God's angel appeared to him and said, God is with you,
almighty warrior. Wait, hold on, mighty warrior. So I was stretching with in a wine press to avoid enemy.
It was literally hiding. But God speaks to your identity before you come to terms with that identity.
God speaks to the person he made, the person he knows. And as much as that is true,
when God is sending us to do big things, those moments we can't relate.
Mighty man, warrior, mighty man, warrior. No, mighty man, warrior. Those two words don't seem to describe
the way Gideon was feeling. I gave you an answer to me, my master, how? And with what could I ever say
visual? No, look at me. My clan is the weakest and I'm the one of the litter. In other words,
he was saying, I'm underqualified and under resourced and God answered him, I will be with you.
Believe me, you will defeat me again as one man. I love you when God brags. He brags on you
because he has put his whole backing on you. He knows what you're capable of. He says, I will
be with you. Believe me, you will defeat me again as one man. Believe me, you will take down that
exam as one man. Believe me, you will finish that interview as one man. Believe me, you will pass
that test as one man. God didn't argue about Gideon's resume. He didn't debate with him about his
insecurity. He just said, I will be with you and trust me, that's usually enough.
And then in God's usual style, just stretching for that, God reduced his army from 32,000
to 300. Now 32,000 wasn't a lot. Where you look at the army that we're going up against and
in God says that's too much new. Why? Why? Because we see with God big moves are not powered by your
human adequacy or inadequacy. They are powered by God's divine sufficiency. God is more and
enough. But Gideon didn't feel ready. You know what he did? He moved anyway. He moved in spite of
his fear and victory followed. You see, we talked about the arrow a couple of days ago.
And I keep thinking about this issue of the arrow. When an arrow is released, it doesn't ask
am I ready. It just trusts the hands of the archer as released in it. Some of what's
I'm media right now, it feels risky, we feel very exposed, on sure hearts are beating
in it. Let me tell you something. If God released you, trust me, he calculated the distance.
Now want you to sit with this thought. Hebrews 11 verse 8. By an act of faith, Abraham said yes to
God's call. He went out not knowing where he was calling, not knowing what going. That's faith.
That's sit down today. And these are a few things that you can do for yourself.
Do the next small step, even if your knees are shaking. Listen, there's always a next step with
God when he asks you to do big things. Just look for one small possible step and take it.
Number two, stop waiting for excitement. Just wait for alignment. When your sense God is moving
move. And then finally, maybe we should start replacing, am I ready? It is God with me.
If the answer to the third question is yes, then move. You may not feel qualified,
but trust me, God qualifies the call. You may fear failure, but God cannot feel, and he's with you.
You may not have all the answers, but God knows exactly what he's doing. So you may not feel ready,
but irrespective of it, move anyway. Trust deeply and let God prove himself faithful.
Good morning. What a wonderful way to start your day. Bible before breakfast with
mill dread, kings they bongle. With mill dread, kings they bongle.
