On April 1st, a 36-year-old man from Alveston faces serious charges after his cars slammed into a group of pedestrians in Derby City Center. Santu Panashan, originally from India, is accused of six counts of grievous bodily harm with intent, one attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, dangerous driving, and possessing a bladed article. He showed up as seven Derbyshire magistrates court this Wednesday, only confirming his name and address before getting remanded in custody. The crash left four men and three women, all between 36 and 52 years old, with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Fear into the community of a random street violence. For the victims have already walked out of the hospital, which is some relief amid the chaos. Panachan heads to Derby Crown Court on April 29th, as police keep digging into what sparked this nightmare.
