Man Killed by Dangerous Dog, Owner Convicted

On March 31st, an 84-year-old man named John McColle died a month after a brutal attack

by an ex-cell bully dog in Warrington, Cheshire back in.

February last year, the dog's owner, 31-year-old Sean Garner, just got convicted at Liverpool

Crown Court for owning a dangerously out-of-control animal that caused serious injury.

The attack happened around 6 p.m. on February 24th when McColle wandered onto Garner's driveway

after leaving the pub.

The massive dog, weighing 7 stone and 4 pounds, went after him viciously until armed

police shot at 10 times to stop the threat.

Neighbors jumped in with whatever they had, like a spear level and walking stick, trying

to pull the dog off, but the damage was done.

McColle fought hard to survive, showing real strength, though he passed away from his

wounds.

Garner's family broke down in tears as the guilty verdict came down.

Garner claimed the dog was locked in a shed, and that he didn't even know its breed,

which got banned last year.

But he had priors for drugs and driving, plus he admitted owning XL bullies without the

right papers.

Prosecutors called him out for lying and being reckless.

He's locked up now, waiting for sentencing on April 17th, where he's facing a long stretch

behind bars.

This case hits hard as a wake-up call on keeping powerful dogs in check to avoid more

heartbreak like this.
