Police have shot dead a man believed to be fugitive Dezi Freeman, who's been on the run since August last year.
Freeman triggered Victoria's biggest ever man hunt when he fled into the bush after allegedly shooting two police officers.
Police this morning announced they'd shot a man in relation to their search - reportedly Freeman - but they're not formally confirming his identity. Police say there was a stand-off at a property in Victoria's northeast, and the man they shot was given an opportunity to surrender peacefully.
