America leads the world in medicine development. It matters. We get new medicines first, nearly
three years faster. Five million Americans go to work because we make medicines here at home,
and not relying on other countries keeps us safe. But China is racing to overtake us.
Will we let them? Or will we choose to stay ahead? When America leads,
America cures. Let's tell Washington to keep us in the lead.

time for the club right now to the run home. Manly legend just under 250 games for the club,
Jake Trevoivich. Welcome to the run home. How are you going? How are you going, mate? It's been a
chaotic weekend, and I guess you're a leader of the club right now. I guess over the last 48 to 72
hours, what's been your message to the playing group? More specifically, the younger guys with
sort of dealing with adversity like this so early in the season. Obviously we're all really
disappointed for where it are. You never want to start a season three losses in a row, especially
at four points park. We obviously pride ourselves on playing really well there, and obviously we've
had really good support there. It's been really disappointing, but I think one thing that our clubs
always done is whenever they've been challenged or whatever, everyone's really stood up. So that's
what we're looking at. We're obviously being challenged right now. It's a great chance for us to
actually show some results, show what these clubs build on and go out there and sort of turn it
all around, and obviously it's, yeah, we've got FOD's leadness now. He's obviously a great
of the club. He shows lots of passion, so hopefully we can bind it up and get some better results.
Just on that, Jackie, so he's only been there all of two minutes. Has he outlined the way you
guys are going to play? Is he going to be different from Seabull in the sense of a game plan,
or you haven't chatted about that yet? Well, as you said, it's only been pretty quick, so he's
keeping things pretty much the same at the moment, a little bit of change, putting his own spin on
things, but I think for the moment we've got to keep it pretty similar and just work really
harder, improve the areas, and obviously he's out long where we've got to improve. So we've
been working really hard on it today, especially throughout the week, and we've got a great chance
to turn it around, and we need to turn it around, obviously. Yeah. You've had a couple of stints
with him as a player, Jackie, when he originally in 2013, when you started, and then he did return,
what's the, I guess the best trait that has translated or transferred from his playing days,
that is working for him very early in his interim coaching role, assistant sort of slush
head coaching role, which he's going to take on now, mate. Well, I think as a player, especially
playing for Manley, just his passion and his toughness was one of these greatest traits. He's one
of those players that I think you could ask anyone, and I think you'd be including this. One of
the toughest players you've ever played alongside, you know what I mean, and just just a pleasure to
take the feel with him. So as a coach, he's obviously got that passion, he sort of instilled that,
and he knows the club. So I think it's great for us. And if we can, you know, in hard times,
whatever we need any motivation, we've got him leading us. If we can't get up for it, you know,
we almost shouldn't be playing, you know, he's just a great leader, lots of passion, and I think
he's going to put that into our team. Jackie, what about the first four rounds? You've had the
buy there. What have you been most disappointed in in the side at the moment? Well, I think
defensively, Fletcher obviously, at times, we can, you know, be a greater taking side and all
that sort of stuff. But I think defensively, we've let ourselves down against the Roosters,
it was a little bit of a step in the right direction, like they actually played a almost
near-perfect game before, you know, and that we actually competed a lot better than what we had,
but the first two rounds are very disappointing. You know, just sort of like a summary of what we've
done the last few years, just really in and out of games, that are best so we can be really good,
but then at our worst, you know, we let three or four tries in 10 minutes, you know, which is
really disappointing. It's hard to compete in such a good competition when you're not consistent,
so that's something that, you know, we need to keep getting better and better with it. I know
it sounds cliche, but that's, that's that problem. Jackie, we had your old teammate,
Daly on last night on Maddy Show, and he said, you were quite vocal in abuse out there,
it's legend. Would you like, would you like to confirm or deny that?
I heard some of your questions might be a bit rogue, and I think that one is.
Hey, you know what I did see, and look, Jackie, I spoke to Chase after the game and he admitted,
like they said all the right things leading into the game, but it was quite a unique experience
from his side of things, with all the build-up into it, and then, you know, even with that,
what would you call it, like a Blizzard, or whatever it was? Cyclone?
You're a cyclone, to it. Yeah, it was. What was it like the hard build-up of that Thursday night
leading into it, and then also playing against the guy who you shared the field with over 200 times?
Yeah, well, obviously it was crazy, like he's played the most games for our clubs,
so for him to come back and book Val, I assume from him emotionally, it would have been quite tough,
and I think he did a great job, obviously, the professionally easy-played game, but I think,
I mean, I honestly didn't think about that much because I just really wanted to get
us to play well and get a win, you know, the moment you start thinking about someone else,
sort of, you know, take your eyes off where you want to go, so I didn't worry me too much, but I'm,
I think, to ZDN of it really well, and obviously the crowd and all that sort of stuff were into him,
I think that was all bit of the theater, I don't think, yeah, I don't think it mattered too much.
Yeah, that was awesome, I was loving that. Oh, actually, loving your brother, Benny, not Tommy,
too, by the way, Benny got into him a little bit too, and it looked like they exchanged him well.
Oh, did they? Yeah, it was awesome. It was just, you know, sort of in the second half,
but on Benny as well, Jacob, because you and Tommy have both played for your country and your state,
used to get a lot of the raps and deservedly so, but Jesus, I think Benny's been one of the
unsung heroes at the club over the last couple of years as well, mate. What's he, because I've played
with both you and Tom, Benny arrived after I'd left the club, is he more like you or is he more,
more like Tommy? Is he somewhere in between? Well, in terms of his anxiety level,
exactly the same as me, so I'm sorry. He got that trait. He's got a little bit of fast,
got a little bit of fast switch from Tom, so I think that'll help. You don't want my flow
switch, so he's a bit of a mix, but in terms of his personality and yeah, anxiousness and worry,
and overthink everything, hoes, we're spinning image. Yeah, Jakey, just before I thought I could
love you any more, you come out donning this new headgear. I've never seen anything like it,
but in all seriousness, how is the head knocks, and is this headgear designed personally for you,
or tell us a little bit about it? Yeah, well obviously last year didn't really go to plan for me,
I think every second tackle I was getting knocked out, you know what I mean, so I just knew I had to
do something different, so this off season really worked on obviously my work into the tackle
next strength because there's a lot of sides behind that, and then there's a new product,
the game gear developed. Now, it wasn't personally for me, it was the product they got on the market
now, so it's designed around reduces the force when you get hit to the head, and also there's
some research behind that it stops your brain from accelerating when you have a head knock,
which is what causes concussion. So for me, it was a no brainer, I'll be silly not to give it a go,
and obviously on the back of last year I was willing to give everything a crack, so I don't care
what it looks like, I feel confident with it, and yeah, I'm going to keep going ahead with it.
Is it heavier than the regular head gear, because it just looks like there's a little bit more padding
than normal as well? Yeah, no, there's a lot more padding than normal, a little bit heavier,
but nothing noticeable, like I'm really used to it now, I've wanted every session this year,
and obviously every game, so I'm fine with it now, I feel comfortable with it, yeah.
It was a rough game, a rough result, and a pretty chaotic weekend, but one thing that I've
always loved is when I was a player is when someone gets to make their debut, Jakey. Big boy
through the middle, Simeone Leifai, I believe it is pronounced. Tell us a little bit about him,
he looks like a real play for you guys moving forward. It does, it's obviously a good young
kid, he's sort of come into the first grade, scored the last couple of years, and he's really worked
hard on his game, which is great to see, and it's obviously great for him to get the reward,
obviously to boot in a bit different circumstance, where he obviously didn't think he was going to go
on, and he got to go on, which was awesome for him and his family, and I think it'd be great
for his confidence, bringing these young forwards through, and we're seeing him in the trials,
he's going to be a really good player, and really exciting for us, so I hope he keeps developing,
and it turns out great forward for us, which is very exciting. Now, Jakey, my man,
there was a bit of a story going around, David Ricchia, saying that there's some NRL players
who have been taking the Olympics, I'm not suggesting... Can I get some?
I'm not suggesting you, Jakey, but would you be open to it?
I would definitely be open to it, I'm sure you don't think I'm what it's empty, look at it.
I would love to know, I would love to know.
What is your advice? Are you a chocolate man, are you sweet or savoury, Jakey?
I'm everything, I'm calorie surplus, it doesn't matter what it is.
Have you got like a pre-game meal that you're just sticking to, because the great,
speaking of manly players, the great Ben Kennedy, a room with BK, and it was always a pizza and a
full block of chocolate before every game. What's the nod before again?
The nod before. He's off his head. He's off his head. Have you gone well?
I might start doing that, and he would want to turn into Ben Kennedy.
Yeah, well, you know what I lose the hair, you know, beautiful hair, Jakey.
Yeah, true, true. I mean, as a player.
Have you got any sort of pre-ritual meals?
No, I don't have too many pre-game ritual meals, you know, but I definitely do love dessert.
There's something that I struggle not to have, so that's probably what I struggle with.
What does it go to? Because I'm a chocolate moose and a kind of vanilla ice cream.
What's your go, Jake?
I love vanilla ice cream. Is that a lot? Is it like this really vanilla ice cream ice magic on it?
And I'm really getting into lately Biscoph.
Oh, yes, Biscoph. I'm a late bloomer on the Biscoph as well.
If I jam some meal...
I can eat that out of the jar, honestly.
Jake, if I introduce you, or sorry, if I jam a near-pulled an ice cream India face,
what is the power rankings of the vanilla, the chocolate and the strawberry?
What do you go in one?
What order?
Uh, vanilla's one. Chocolate's two, strawberry three.
I know. What does everyone hate strawberry?
Yes, strawberry always gets left last Thursday.
Why?
So Mickey?
Uh, well, I don't really care, but vanilla's definitely one.
That's my go-to. I'll go and add the best gelato shop.
I'll get vanilla ice cream.
I love it.
Okay, now, Jakey tonight, could you go get yourself some Nutella and go and go to the IGA and get some
connoisseur vanilla ice cream and mix it all together for me.
What about your apple pie?
Yeah, no, no, I want to try that.
I can't go.
I can't overload with it.
Okay.
You'll definitely be on this in pick.
Hey, Jakey, Jakey, you can send us through to our run home socials as well, maybe later on
having a feed.
Hey, it's a really tough time at the, uh,
for me only over the weekend and really appreciate your join us on the run home, mate.
Now, thanks for having us guys.
Thanks, Jakey.
There we go, Jakey.
What a champion.
The absolute Michael, uh, one of the best teammates that, yeah,
similar to what he's talking about with Kirin foreign there, um,
just a really good dude.
See, this is the thing, this is the thing that people don't get, right?
So they, they, they look at his numbers and stuff and they go, well,
they might be down a little bit, but it's what he brings to the team and to other people.
They just make you feel more comfortable in being around him.
You know, it is.
This is, you can't put a price on that.
You can't, you're watching the run home with Fletch and Scope.
