Get to get to know.
Janelle, we made it. Our first girl's trip to Jamaica is stunning and the people are incredible.
We've got a great show with the best of Jamaican food, music, and the island's biggest star.
Oh, the culture is so great here. Let's get started. Let's go, Captain. Take us to the beach.
Woo! No problem.
From a stunning shores of Ocho Rios, Jamaica, it's Janelle and Janelle's Girl's Trip with today's guest
Emmy-winning actress Cheryl Lee Ralph and Grammy-winning musician, Shaggy. The party starts right now.
Hi, everyone. Hi, all of you. We made it. It is Thursday, March 26th, and we are here in beautiful Jamaica.
We're so happy to have you with us this morning. And all of you, we've talked to people from Ohio
in South Carolina, Indiana, all over the country. And it's been a beautiful time here in
sending Jamaica. And we should say a big thank you to our sponsors, the Jamaica Tourist Board,
and Sandals Resorts. So beautiful here. We're here at the stunning. And when I say stunning,
it is breathtaking. It feels like paradise. We're at Sandals Duns River in the center of Ocho
Rios. So we are so thankful that you guys are here with us. And we're going to have a good show
today. We're going to have a beautiful show. But before we get started here in Jamaica,
we have to just say we are here by the Caribbean Sea, the wind in our hair, but our hearts are also
with our dearest friend, Savannah. She spoke out today to Hoda. And you know, it's hard. Life is
this crazy thing of happiness and joy. We're surrounded with all of you. We're so happy you're
here. And also pain. And when you love somebody the way we love our girl, you can't help but feel
like she's with us. I will say it's hard to come to a place like this and not feel close to God.
And she talked a lot about her faith. And you know, this has been planned for months and months.
And it's important that we're here because if anybody knows the type of resilience that Savannah's
fighting for every day, it is the people of Jamaica. Yes. They fight for their joy.
It is so important that we're here to celebrate the strength and the beauty of this incredible
country when this island needs it. We know that this island recently faced tremendous hardship
with Hurricane Melissa. A good new friend of ours said, you know, we can whisper that name and
that and they were worried about it. But really the strength of the people here are so absolutely
stronger. Jenna and I were talking about it last night. It's we're going to find a common thread.
It's hope. Yes. And it's resilience. And you know what else it is? It's love. It is so much love.
We felt it so much by the way, speaking of which we should give a shout out to the Soundless
Foundation. They have towels over 900 workers during the hurricane. Not only did they do that,
but they also kept some of their employees working. Yes. When these incredible properties were closed,
we have to tell you this. This country is rebuilding. It is coming back stronger than ever. And the
best way to celebrate these incredible people is to come. How is it? It's open for business.
We have had the most once your phone. I mean, this is our first trip. It's our first
mission. And it feels like and I said it earlier, it really does feel like paradise. The greens
are just lush. The ocean is beautiful. The people are lovely. We've had more food in 24 hours
than one should have in a week. And every single thing we put in our mouth is amazing.
You know what? It's kind of wild. And I didn't even think about it till we were here. I worked here
in 2006. So 20 years ago. What were you doing? I was a baby. And I was working with UNICEF. That's
me. Look at that ponytail. And it was an incredible time. And so I think, you know, anybody that's
been here, Jamaica stays in our hearts. But you can't come here once and think, that's
enough. Most people, you're talking about, you come back here after a year. And so I just,
you know, wanted to shout out Diane Sawyer with me. Now, look what I've got. I've got another
legend. Chanel Jones. And you know what else we should say? This is extra special to our show
here in Jenin Chanel because our senior producer, our executive producer, our boss, Talia Parkinson
Jones, is from Jamaica. And you know, she was born here, y'all. She was born here. She was raised
here till she was nine years old to see it through her eyes has been a gift. It's been so special.
So in the hours ahead and the days ahead, we're going to show you she's going to take you back
to where she's supposed to go. Her elementary school, her primary school. All the things. So she,
she keeps running into people that she grew up with. She's trying to teach us how to dance. What
a beautiful homecoming. So it is going to be a good time. You guys ready to have a good time.
Let's do it. All right. So here's the deal. We squeeze so much into I think 24 hours already.
We've learned a lot about each other. We I'll tell you a lot of something. I've learned about
Miss Chanel Jones. The parts that we can tell on television. Yeah. Okay. Well,
they'll be more tomorrow. But we went tubing. Okay. Yes. Which was hilarious and really beautiful
on this gorgeous ocean. There we there we are. Wow. But it was so much fun. Okay. But this is what
I was on the end. Yeah. And Tolly was on the end. This is how Chanel is. Which I didn't know this
little mischievous part of her. She would do things like this. She would see us bouncing about to fall
off and she would go like this. Look over at us and then look at the person and go faster.
Faster. So that we were flying. You know, because I'm like safely a little all-tucked. Faster.
I'm like, if you're going to come to Jamaica, you got to do a thing. Yeah. Have a good time.
The water is so beautiful. So when you're on the tubes, you know, and you say thumbs up,
you go faster. So I'm like, let's do it. And then we're going to show you a video later of all the
other things we did here in Jamaica. But we ended the day last night with the most amazing dance
party. It was so much fun. She was showing me dances that she's made up. And she's like, no,
Chanel, more on your toes. You got to do it like this. By the way, which has never happened before
because we all know that Chanel is an incredible dancer. But the evening ended. The other thing I
learned about Chanel on a girl's trip, the evening ended with the real bang. Oh, we're going to talk
about you being, we're going to go ahead. I had to cut her out of her dress. Yeah. She had to
literally get scissors and cut me out of my, Davey, don't give me that look. She had to cut me out.
Here's the truth. We were on the dance floor, AKA the sand. We're all dancing away. And I put my
phones down. I'm like, we're in Jamaica. Everybody's good. The kids are good. I'm good.
Phones go down. I'm present. Little did I know Jenna was blowing up my phone because she was stuck
stuck or dressed. Don't know what it feels like to be stuck in an outfit. I was pouring sweat. I
was panicking. I'm like, S O S and I'm like, hey, hey, I'm like dancing. Finally, I call her.
She picks up. She's like, we're still at the party. I'm like, Chanel, I need you to get here
with the scissors, ASAP. This is the type of friend that I've learned I have. She left the dance
bar. I believe they were playing Shaggy. They were playing Jean Paul. She left. She came. I took
her my scissors and out on the streets. Some of y'all may have seen this on the streets. She,
oh, that was you. Oh, she cut me out of my dress. That's right. We're going to have an amazing
girlship and I'm going to be a good friend. As you are going to leave the dance floor. Can we
talking about friends? Oh, yeah. About two of our newest friends. These are our contest winner.
Oh, there you are. Angie and Ella. I bumped into them last night too. I know. They're all
the way here from Erie, Pennsylvania. Y'all, if I knew you were coming to the party, I would
have stayed. How's your trip going so far? Awesome. Amazing. Wait, why are you guys so last night,
they're like, this is live TV. You know, we can do it. Oh, yeah, right. You got to behave on
live television. Well, we are so happy that y'all are here and enjoying this beautiful country
with us. Thank you for being part of the show. Thank you. All right. You guys, we have an incredible
show for you today. Emmy, winning actress Cheryl Lee Ralph is here. Yes.
What's a rainy icon? This is a bombastic himself.
Maggie is joining us.
We can get a picture and get a tour of this beautiful island right after this.

The galaxy is waiting.
Who is this?
Some cool dinosaur just shows up and he's now part of the group.
Cool. The Super Mario Galaxy movie.
Pretty PJ only in theaters Wednesday. Get to get to now.
Back now on the stunning shores of Ocho Rios this week.
We had the chance to explore Jamaica and take in the beautiful sights.
From boats to bobsled, we made our way through the island.
And it did not disappoint. Take a look.
Chaneli, are you ready for our day exploring?
I'm ready for your makeup.
I'm ready for your look.
We're ready for adventure. Can you tell?
Look at beautiful Jamaica.
Should you take me to the waterfall?
Let's go.
A romantic boat trip.
Here we are.
Dunns River Falls.
This is why so many people when they come to Jamaica, they want to come to this spot.
We're on our honeymoon.
Let's go on honey.
Let's go.
Ready?
Ready for us to climb.
Oh my gosh, Jenna, this is beautiful.
I don't know the day that we're flying to waterfall before.
Let me go first.
Yeah, it's so fun.
Oh god.
You got it.
Oh shoot, now we gotta get past it.
It was like my inner seven year old.
It's so fun.
You had so fun.
I don't know why did you get to the top.
Bye.
See you at the top.
That was fun.
It was beautiful.
We're here in Jamaica.
Come on, they're known for their bobs.
It's like cool running.
Do you think you'll fit in here?
I'm glad I peed first.
It's just called a big spill.
Oh god.
A little spill.
Is Jenna driving?
I'm driving.
It's very, very simple.
All you have to do is push them forward.
Go.
To go.
It's bomb city time.
Are you ready?
Bomb city time.
You have to.
Bomb.
Bomb.
Bomb.
You have to.
Bomb.
Oh my god.
So much credit.
Woo.
You have to.
So much fun.
So much fun.
So much fun.
I've heard so much about Miss T's kitchen.
Let's see.
Let's go.
Miss T, how long have you been here?
18 years.
18 years.
What is it about Jamaica that makes us play so special?
They're three things.
Okay.
It's food.
Yes.
Music.
Yes.
I love it.
I love it.
That's so interesting.
I love it.
Oh my god.
Shall we go?
Let's go.
I'm ready for the party at Miss T.
What we're going to do is we're going to try a little bit of Ricky.
Yeah.
So this is sausage for us.
That's so good.
Oh, peas and rice.
Peas and wrap.
It's my best curry go I've ever had.
So here we have our escoviche fish.
Yeah.
All right, ladies.
If you're no Miss T.
Oh, Miss T.
You know, white roll.
Those are fruit brown.
I'm the last year.
Oh, the fruit.
So when you're on a road trip in Jamaica.
We're on a road trip.
So we're having some white rolls, yeah?
Yeah.
I got to tell you, I've had a lot of Jamaican food.
Yeah.
This is the best of the hot.
This is amazing.
So when you come to Jamaica, you got to come to Miss T's.
He's coming for you.
Oh, great.
Book it up.
This cat has watched our show.
And it knows what Chanel says about cats.
I think he's our new mascot.
We have to give him a name.
Let's call him with red stripe.
Red stripe.
What we're both here is just an authentic Jamaican experience.
And what is that?
It's about people.
It's about love.
It's about how we make you feel.
Cheers.
Cheers.
Thank you for having us.
What an adventure.
Oh, my goodness.
Cheers to love, life, and Jamaica.
We followed him up.
Wow, that was a day.
I mean, we couldn't have Jen and Chanel without a cat.
No, the cat had to come.
And actually, you're in the process of a dog.
That was good.
Didn't want me to take red stripe home so much.
Can I tell you my favorite thing yesterday, Ms. Tees?
What?
Curry goat.
Yes, goodness.
And that rice and peas.
You guys have got to get to Ms. Tees,
but all of the places.
We need to thank Mystic Mountain,
Ms. Tees Kitchen.
And can we also just think our new mascot,
Red Stripe Cat?
Red Stripe Cat.
All right, up next, guys,
one of our favorites.
The one and only Cheryl Lee route.
She's sharing her love for Jamaica.
Let's go.
Beautiful.
Let's go.
Our next guest is an Emmy-winning actress.
Who loves to represent her to make and reach?
She stars in the hit show, Abbott Elementary.
And was recently named one of times,
2026, Women of the Year.
And she always tells it just as it is.
Take a look.
Let me tell you this.
Yes, please.
I don't compare.
And I don't compete.
I don't compare myself to anybody else.
And I don't compete with anybody else.
When you compare and you compete,
there's only one person that loses.
And that is you.
Yes.
So good.
So, so good.
Let me sing your praises for one more beat.
She also happened to receive the order of Jamaica,
one of the highest honors.
So, please welcome the Honorable Cheryl Lee Row.
Oh, yes, yes.
We are so happy.
We, you just reminded me that once we said,
let's go to Jamaica together and here you are.
And here we are.
Yes.
When Cheryl Lee says something,
it always happens to fruition.
Oh.
You have the strongest Jamaican roots.
Tell us why you love this country.
Oh, my God.
I love the people.
I love their resilience.
I mean, look at the fact that we have come through
one of the most drastic natural disasters ever
in the last hurricane.
Yes.
And the way the whole country has come together
to help each other,
the way other small islands came to the aid of Jamaica.
I love our resilience.
I love our food.
I love the food.
You know what it is?
I'm listening to Cheryl Talk.
And you hear the sound of the waves.
I think the waves are saying amen.
Yeah.
I don't know if that's what it feels like.
Yes.
So, Jenna just alluded to this.
Congrats on being times to 2026 women of the year.
Thanks.
After you received,
just she had such an amazing year in entertainment.
But 40 years, quite frankly,
in entertainment,
you say you've learned to run your own race.
Oh, absolutely.
Talk about that.
In Jamaica, we have some of the best runners
of the best racers in the world.
Oh, saying bold, you know,
shelly-n and it goes on.
But there's one thing who's saying said.
He says, when you're running your race,
you don't look left.
You don't look right.
You certainly don't look back.
Oh, let's go.
Oh, whatever.
Oh, thank you.
I mean, we just need you to pre-
I don't know day long.
Abit Elementary, one of our favorite shows on television.
Thank you.
You're currently in the fisties
and already renewed for the six.
Yes.
What is the special sauce of this magnificent show?
I think the sauce is that we have incredible riders.
We have an incredible creator in Quinter, Brunson.
Yes.
We have an outstanding cast.
And we are able to lock into the life of educators.
There are educators all around the world
and so many of them at this time, no matter where they are,
are facing the exact same problems.
They're waving behind you.
We got some educators back there.
Yeah, they have the same issues.
And we lean into that.
And we make educators the star of the show,
not the butt of the show.
As they should be.
That's a huge task.
As you can feel it, I remember when it first hit,
Al Roker came in and he said,
you guys have to watch this show.
Yeah, I mean, it was like one of those things
where we all started watching it.
Also, you have a new movie, Ricky.
Yes.
You have such a range.
Let's talk about Ricky and what you do in that role.
You know, I love the fact that I can be like this.
And then you can see me on Abit.
And, you know, she's got her own way of being there.
And then to meet a young director like Rashad Fret
that can look at you and say,
Ms. Ralph, we all know you're fabulous.
But you got to take it all off.
Wow.
Just take it all off.
And I said, really, really?
Is that what we're doing?
And he said, that is exactly what we're doing.
And to play this raw character,
where people looked at the screen and they were like,
well, where are you?
And I was like, okay.
That's it.
There you go.
Yeah, that is it.
And, you know, if there's one thing I want people
to take away from this movie,
which is a young man's challenge, you know,
he's in a heavy Caribbean community in the States
and he gets wrapped up in the system.
And one thing about recidivism that can help with that
is a job.
People believing in other people enough on their journey
and life to give them a second,
even a third chance,
sometime a job can change everything.
So I love this film.
It'll be coming out in April and, yes.
Okay, we're going to go see it.
Is there, okay, and we just have a second,
but we heard the one thing you're really looking forward
to is becoming a grandma.
Yes, I am.
I want to be a grandmother.
Yeah, that's two beautiful kids.
First of all, those wedding pictures broke the internet as well.
Thank you.
20th anniversary with my husband.
If it wasn't Jamaica, I said,
we're doing it at the Rocky Steps in Philadelphia.
Yes.
I need 20 Valentinas.
Are you doing a reed like a,
we did it, the girl.
Yes.
Oh, yes.
20 years and I took those steps in my DR pumps.
Yeah.
Talking about these sneakers.
Do you need a honeymoon here?
We need an extra honeymoon.
Come on, Jamaica.
Yeah.
Hey, we know a nice hotel.
We got you.
Yeah.
Honeymoon sweat.
Sweet.
There you go.
All right, you guys, Cheryl is sticking around.
We're going to play a fun game with Jamaica's
very own reggae superstar.
We're talking shaggy kids.
Right up to this.
Oh, my goodness.
Oh, my goodness.
Oh, my goodness.
We are back with Emmy-winning actress and star
of Abbott Elementary, Cheryl Lee Ralph.
And we're about to play a fun game
inspired by our next guest.
Yeah, he is a Grammy-winning reggae icon
who has sold more than 40 million records worldwide.
He also calls Jamaica Home.
Come on out, shaggy.
Great.
Great.
Great.
Great.
Great.
Great.
Great.
Great.
Great.
Let's go, shaggy.
Yeah.
Shaggy.
Great.
Shaggy.
There you go.
Great.
Thank you.
I love it.
Oh, yes.
Yeah, there's over the years, actually.
Yes.
You know, shaggy people know him for his music,
and we're going to talk about what he's done, you know,
for the children on island.
Absolutely.
Absolutely.
It's been amazing.
Well, for a long time.
We're going to talk about it, too.
Sure, and he's like national hero in the San Francisco.
Both of you guys.
Just pressure.
Come on.
Shaggy, we just heard your song.
It wasn't me.
We may or may not have danced to it.
Oh, my God.
Last night.
Last night.
We hear that it's the number one requested song at weddings.
Is it?
Yes.
Yeah.
No, that's, do you find that strange?
I'm filming.
When I do, when I do weddings, like some,
some people work as a wedding.
Yeah.
It's always the bride's choice.
What?
And the groom comes to me.
So make sure you play it wasn't me, because that's my name.
And I'm like, really?
Sure you'll give it.
And I'm singing it.
Wow.
Well, he's there.
And I'm saying, you're going to do your nuptials?
Rift flag.
Can you do the rift flag?
I think they know what the song is about.
Oh, I do.
I think it's, you know.
It's just a jam.
It's not a cheating song.
Oh, what happened?
No, it's not.
What happened?
See, all he always was too drunk before it got to the end.
Oh, my God, you know.
At the end of it, it says, I'm going to tell her
that I'm sorry for the things that you've done.
You might think you're a player, but you're completely lost.
Simply mean, it's not condoning cheating.
Oh.
Well, I can't.
But they saw him banging on the counter.
There was a conversation with two people.
And the other guy did not take, the other guys.
Please.
Well, he didn't take his suggestion.
You're about to break the internet with that.
Yeah.
I know.
So in honor of this song, we want to play a game.
We're calling it, it wasn't me.
OK.
Here's how it works.
We each have a paddle.
On one side, it says, it wasn't me.
On the other, it says, it was me.
We're going to read a statement.
And if you all have done what it says, say it was me.
You have to tell the truth.
If you haven't, it wasn't me.
OK.
Let's do the first one.
You ready?
Here's the first statement.
OK.
I had a fling while on vacation.
Oh, it was not me.
I mean, either.
It wasn't me.
Never.
No, no, no, no.
Wait, excuse me, Shaggy.
You never had a fling on vacation.
It was, that's my story.
And I'm stuck.
It wasn't me.
OK.
The next one.
The next one says, I missed my flight after partying too hard.
Oh, it was not me.
It either after partying too hard, yeah, me.
Half a year, Chanel.
I'm just like, I've been.
Chanel.
Chanel, I've been.
Not a lot.
Chanel, it was you.
Maybe in college.
Halfway.
Halfway.
Halfway.
Halfway.
I never, because even if I've already heard my anxiety,
wakes me up, I can't be late.
I don't want to miss that plane.
Are here the next one.
I slept at a celebrity's house after a long night.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, what?
Wait, Chanel.
It's only you.
Do tell.
It's a loop.
Do tell.
Where were you?
What country?
Was there a beach?
Go ahead, just do this.
Were there ponds?
Yeah, it was.
It wasn't me.
OK, sure.
It wasn't me.
OK, here's the next one.
I traveled so low, and it made my flung friends.
Oh, yeah, that was me.
Yeah, and was still friends to this day.
You both done that?
I've done.
Yes.
They tell us, where were you?
Africa.
Africa in Ghana.
And I met some friends.
And we are still friends to this day.
And I'm going to celebrate my birthday there.
Yes.
Yes.
What about you?
If there's any place to do it, it's gone apart from Jimmy.
Apart from Jimmy.
Exactly.
No, I met someone in the music industry on the way up.
It was a director.
It was a movie director.
And we ended up being really good.
Life long friends.
See, you guys can make a life long friend right now.
And Jimmy.
And then come back here after a year.
All right, here we go.
OK, here's the last one.
I sang Shaggy's Angel at karaoke.
Kind of sort of.
Sort of.
We tried.
Yes.
I actually did that in Mexico with my wife.
What?
Because we're out of karaoke thing.
And then everybody was singing.
And they knew that I was there.
So they put it up.
And we had to.
So we ended up with this.
I did not forget to catch Cheryl on Abbott Elementary's Wednesdays at 830 on ABC and streaming
on Hulu.
Her movie Ricky is in select theaters April 24th.
Yes.
Oh, honey.
And the Honorable.
The Honorable.
Yes.
And Shaggy is sticking around.
We're going to talk all about his new music and philanthropic endeavors right after this.
Mr. Jamaica.
Yeah.
Here's a shift worth noting.
Better health care is care that meets patients where they are.
United Health Group is bringing it directly to living rooms.
This is a win for patients managing chronic conditions.
And here's the interesting thing.
By closing those care gaps, administering in-home exams and identifying risks earlier, more
diseases can be prevented and patient outcomes can improve.
In 2025 alone, United Health Group patients received over 19 million home visits.

Comcast, proud partner of Team USA.
We are back with reggae artist, music icon, and Jamaica's very own shaggy.
Yes, a brand new album coming out is so good.
It's called Lottery.
And he just released a new song with Robin Thick.
It's called Looking Lovely.
That's the song of the summer.
Before we get started, you brought us your favorite drink.
Oh, yeah, man.
And this is a...
Teac?
This is Monkey 47, which is gin.
Yeah.
My favorite gin.
Yeah.
And Ting.
Everybody's talking about Ting.
What is it?
It's a Jamaica grapefruit drink.
It's my kid's favorite drink.
Oh, that's good.
Cheers.
Everybody's been ordering it.
Welcome to Jamaica.
Ah, thank you.
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
Shaggy.
It's morning here.
Shaggy.
Is it ever morning in Jamaica?
Oh, this is good morning.
Oh, good morning.
You know, we've been talking so much since we've been here.
This is good.
This is actually me and Ting's favorite drink.
Really?
Yeah, this is what we drink after tour all the way.
A Monkey 47 and Ting.
Yeah.
Woo.
By the way, the fact that you and Ting have become these best friends.
I know you all are working on a musical.
Yeah, we did.
What a gift.
What a gift that is.
Oh, it's the brother I never knew I needed.
How do you think that happened?
Like, what is it about the two of you?
I guess it's really cool.
We went into the studio to do one song and ended up just having more fun.
Yeah.
Doing the song.
More fun than work.
And decided that work.
That shouldn't stop.
And we just ended up going to do an album, a tour, and now we're doing a musical.
Oh, my goodness.
We want to come when the musical hits New York City.
Oh, yeah, it's going to be in June from the 9th to the 14th.
Oh, nice.
At, by the way, at the Met.
Oh, nice.
Metrapal of the opera.
How amazing.
How cool is that?
You know, I want to sing your praises for just a moment.
You know, it's been five months since Hurricane Melissa hit.
And your foundation, the Shaggy, made a difference all across this island.
What has it been like for you to see the people in Jamaica come together with this resilience?
Yeah.
It's been fantastic.
I'm happy for you guys to be here because this is part of it.
You know, part of our rebuilding also.
It was good.
It was good to see that, you know, the entertainment community came out large also.
And, you know, matter of fact, we're still doing it.
We actually just delivered about 200 big up-to-roadies international to bring those guys in Project Cure.
And we just delivered bits to Conor Regional Hospital.
Wow.
And Mandeville Hospital.
And also Savannah La La Hospital.
And we did about 230 some bits.
That's amazing.
We just did that last week.
Your work.
Yeah, so we're continuing.
Your work in music is, it shines bright.
The work you do behind the scenes is so important.
And we really applaud you.
The other thing that's been making a little splash is your wardrobe.
Now, you're looking fine.
Yeah.
But there was a viral shirt.
You're looking lovely.
But there was a viral shirt.
And it went viral.
Were you surprised?
And we heard your dog also supported it.
Yeah, because my dog knows style.
Put your dog name.
Luna.
Luna.
Here's the dog in the exact opposite outfit.
Now, you're kind of having a fashion renaissance.
Yeah.
I'm in fun with it.
I mean, you know, it's a rich, uh, uh, uh, someone wrote a shirt.
If you notice in that video, I will also wear another one, which is a new one.
Yeah.
So I have a couple of pieces for mine.
And all your jewels.
I know.
I'm like locked in.
I'm like, who's having fun with it?
You know, you're not going to be in the gym or not working or not flaunting.
There you go.
As you see.
So I got to keep it working.
But we had a lot of fun with it.
Um, and you know, it's, it's just, you know, part of the record coming out.
So I, yeah, I figured it would have a little splash.
Yeah.
Not this much, but that record lottery.
It's all about sort of the fact that you keep going.
You keep playing.
You keep reinventing.
I mean, it's called lottery because you're betting on yourself.
Yes.
You know, and I've always betted on myself, uh, especially in a genre of dancehall,
which is not your mainstream instrument, but there's no radio station that has reggae, reggae radios.
People get a confused dancehall reggae, but it's a little, your music is different.
And well, there's a, I'm a, I'm a hybrid of it.
Yes.
And I do reggae, but I do a hybrid of it.
And I always think that hybrid is all your move culture.
And I mean, because, you know, the dancehall you're hearing now is not the dancehall of the 90s.
So there is, you know, it, it evolves as you go.
And I keep evolving.
I wonder what little shaggy, you know, this, this country has a history of great musicians.
Fantastic.
Incredible music.
You're a, you're a good company.
Yeah.
Could you ever imagine this career for yourself?
No.
Um, but, you know, as you go along with it, you know, you, you start to realize that,
you start to realize that it's really, you don't want to see me kick a ball.
I suck at that.
I'm really good at that.
And I realized early on that when I spit rhymes, I get girls.
So it worked.
That was my motivation.
It wasn't me.
Okay.
We have a little gift for you.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Because since you went viral and that floral blouse, we thought, you know what?
You know what?
Yeah.
These are real flowers.
Hey, you know what?
I have to say, at least you guys are here giving me my flowers.
Yes.
Literally figuratively.
And we heard you brought a lot of things.
I brought you gifts also.
Wow.
You like gifts.
So this, this is Jamaican, is it?
Okay.
Wow.
Look at this.
Yeah.
Coffee.
Right.
And this is called Jamaica Drops.
Ooh.
You don't know what it is.
You don't know what Jamaica Drops are?
Jamaica Drops.
It's coconut drops.
It went with brown sugar.
Jamaica Drops.
Hot truss.
Hot truffa sauce.
Let's go.
It's got your money, which is Jamaican.
I don't know.
And of course, the coffee.
Yeah.
By the way, this blue mountain coffee is the best in the world.
Thank you.
It's not bad.
There it is.
I'm a coffee drinker.
I'm a dreamer.
I dream of it.
Thank you.
Shaggy's new single, Looking Lovely.
It is out now.
His album.
Get ready for it, y'all.
It's called Lottery.
It drops May 15th.
Y'all catch Shaggy and Sting at the last ship.
The Metropolitan Opera House.
June 19th.
June 9th through 14th.
Yes.
We will be there.
We'll be there.
Give your tickets now.
All right.
Up next here.
Best of luck in Chef Andre Files.
After this.
Btw, we have Shaggy and Gaffey Ch nicht.
Great job.
We are back in Sandals, Dunns, River,
which Jamaican-born chef Andre Files author of the cookbook,
Maj Jamaican tapes.
Ah, yes.
He's here to show us the perfect Island dish.
Gilled lobster.
So if you want the recipe, just scan that QR code to follow along with us.
Thank you for coming with us.
I mean, you are, you live in the States,
but this is your home.
I'm living in a dream right now.
We're here in sunny New York.
I'm really a little excited.
Sunny New York.
Sunny Jamaica.
Yeah.
The New York is on the mind,
but I'm here in beautiful Jamaica
to demonstrate this wonderful dish.
It's so, come on.
Let's go.
Let's go.
Okay, so let's get started.
How do we prepare the lobster?
All right, so yeah, so this is actually
the local lobster.
It's a spiny lobster.
Yes, I'm last time.
It's a real lobster with a scotch bonnet garlic butter.
Yum.
Because scotch bonnet has a lot of flavor,
so I want to quickly.
Do I need to move out of the way?
No, you're fine.
Okay, so the first thing we got to do
is to add a lot of salt.
Okay.
Into your water,
because we don't want it to taste like ocean, right?
And then we're putting these babies in there?
Absolutely.
So what part of the lobster?
With the stick?
Yeah, so the stick is to make sure
you get a nice presentation to that goes in
for between two to three minutes.
Pretty much you just want to get that salty flavor
into the lobster.
Okay.
And once it's done,
then you shock it in some ice water
and then it looks like this.
Okay.
So this is my take on it because it keeps it juicy,
keeps it really moist,
and of course, a lot of flavors in it.
Okay.
All right, then the next step,
we're going to make a scotch bonnet garlic butter.
And this is where the use of scotch bonnet is so versatile
because a lot of the time people think
that scotch bonnet is all about heat.
Yes.
But it's so much flavor.
This is a scotch bonnet, it's a pepper, right?
Yeah, yeah.
But it's so cute.
It's so fresh today.
It's so good.
It's so, you know, it's fruity, it's citrus.
So it's a lot of flavor.
So how do you do it without it being too, too hot?
What do you think?
You don't put the seeds in.
Yeah.
Just to get the flavor from it.
But obviously people like it spices,
so you can add my scotch bonnet.
Yeah.
So here we go.
So we have some softened butter.
We're going to put lime juice.
This is a scotch bonnet that's chopped up as well.
Okay.
Then we're going to go with some scallions and lime zest.
Yep.
Some parsley.
Mm.
And of course, the minced garlic.
Yeah.
You give it that flavor because garlic and lobster
goes so well.
I thought you could put that on so many things.
Right?
Right?
It was like a flavor bomb.
Yeah.
And that's a little bit of pepper.
And of course, the salt.
You go.
Wow.
Look at that.
Beautiful.
And then the trick is, you want to baste your lobster inside a shell.
Oh.
Right?
So look at that.
Look at that.
In my coat book as well, because it insulates the bone.
And then you grill it, right?
And then you grill it.
And it goes on top as well.
And then you have a nice hot grill.
We have to taste this.
I'm going to try it.
You're handy one.
Right?
Absolutely.
Here it is.
Oh, sorry.
No, you're okay.
Yum.
How long do you put, do you grill it for?
What do you think?
You grill it for between maybe two to four minutes.
On the size of your lobster, some extra butter as well.
Oh.
Yes, please.
It doesn't know the extra butter.
Very mean butter.
And of course, we have the mango sauce, so it'll be the sweet, spicy, a little bit of
salty.
And of course, vegetable.
I heard you had it last night.
Oh, my God.
It's the best.
It's the best.
I get a big bowl of it.
And it's just like the island food.
Because we eat so many seafood.
And when we like a little bit of sweet festival to balance the spiciness of the dishes
that we have.
Trust us.
This is like the best combination.
Yeah.
Thank you to today.com slash food.
And you can check out Andre's cookbook.
It's called Mind You Make and Table at today.com slash book.
Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for being here.
And we'll be back right after this.
Oh, my God.
How good is this?
There you go.
Perfect.
Delish.
Delish.
Delish.
Delish.
Delish.
Delish.
Delish.
Delish.
Delish.
Delish.
Delish.
Delish.
Delish.
Delish.
Delish.
The girlship continues here in Ocarios, which are making rappers, singer and reggae artists,
