And Doug, there's nowhere I wouldn't go to help someone customize and save on car insurance with Liberty Mutual.
Even if it means sitting front row at a comedy show.
Hey everyone, check out this guy and his bird. What is this your first date?
Oh no, we help people customize and save on car insurance with Liberty Mutual together. We're married.
Ah! Mito a human, him to a bird.
Yeah, the bird looks out of your league anyways.
Only pay for what you need at Liberty Mutual.com.
Liberty, Liberty, Liberty, Liberty.
Liberty.
Las Vegas wakes up with Joanna and Sean.
Here's what you missed on sunny mornings.
Huge news yesterday made outside of Allegiance Stadium.
We are getting another Super Bowl. It's going to be our second one since Super Bowl 58 back in 2024.
And I think we can all brace ourselves for the incoming text from friends, family, out of towners.
They're going to be trying to visit for the Super Bowl.
Of course.
Of course, the text, can you get tickets, right?
I got, oh my God, 2024 when Super Bowl 58 was here.
Yeah.
How many text messages did you get from people that were like, hey, you have the plug on tickets?
No, I don't have, no, I have no plug on Super Bowl tickets for you.
I mean, I play Cindy Lauper.
I was fortunate enough to go through my son's work, my son, my husband's work connection.
He was doing a filming project.
We got contracted to a filming project for them.
And so I got to go and be an assistant, a plus one.
And, you know, listen, that was my end.
It was through somebody who was working the event.
I don't, you know, I don't think lightning strikes twice like that.
And I'm fine with it.
You know, I just think the energy that comes to our city with a Super Bowl is pretty special.
And listen, I was super stoked to go to like a lot of the fan fest.
Like that was set up around it, that like you didn't need to spend thousands of dollars to attend.
That stuff was really cool too.
Yeah.
And the big, I mean, they had like a big, I don't really, I don't necessarily want to call it a convention,
but it was at the convention center at Mandela Bay, that giant...
Yeah, the fan fest.
Oh, that's what, okay.
That's what that was.
We're talking about the same thing.
Yeah.
And I took my son to that.
Like I didn't take my son to the Super Bowl, but it took my son to that.
And that was so cool.
I mean, definitely.
I mean, Fremont Street takes on a different vibe for sure.
The city certainly comes alive here.
I will say this, I think it's great for the city as a whole, right?
Economically speaking, brings it a lot of dollars, a lot of energy.
I like that every time we get something like this happening here, it turns our city more and more
into like the sports capital of the world.
Right.
It also makes it harder to fight that battle of...
Can we get that free parking back?
Yeah, that's tough.
I mean, I think that they're just so much excitement around it.
I mean, let's see, it brought Taylor Swift to our city last time.
Right.
Right.
What did Travis Kelsey just sign another three-year deal?
She could potentially be back here, maybe.
We'll see.
That's what I'm rooting for, but...
The protest certainly outweigh the cons, especially if Taylor Swift shows up in your city.
I mean, that's just my personal day, got it?
Sunny 106.5
We all deserve to laugh a little bit, so let's do that this morning together.
The stories you can't believe are real.
But they totally are.
It's the sunny funny.
What's going on?
It's Joanna and Sean Mann, naming a baby candy heart.
But this couple, maybe they figured out the solution.
I have such a great sunny funny today.
We all have a friend that takes the March Madness brackets like a little too seriously.
This couple, I think, they took it to an entirely different level.
Might be the most intense March Madness bracket of all time.
There's a couple in Florida letting the tournament decide their baby's name.
This is wild.
So they took all 64 teams.
Right.
And they paired each one with a baby name that they like.
So every time a team gets eliminated, Joanna, that name is just gone from consideration.
Okay.
Who likes 64 names?
I like maybe 6.
I have to say, maybe.
So what's wild here is that at this point, I like two of their quote-unquote number one seeds, right?
Two of the big names that they love, they're already out.
So Olivia and Sophia are no longer in consideration for their baby.
And so I'm guessing they gave their very favorite names to like the top contenders, right?
Yeah, exactly.
Okay.
So we're down to the final four now this weekend, right?
Oh my gosh.
So their baby will either be Deniella, Lucia, Andreina or Valentina.
Oh, okay.
I still think there's all pretty good choices right there.
Pretty good, pretty solid choices.
I mean, the top teams are still left.
So they had to have really liked those names.
I would assume if they gave it to those teams, right?
No pressure on any of these teams playing either, right?
Like imagine being on one of these teams and knowing that your free throws might be deciding
what these couple names their kid.
Right.
And I originally, when you told me about this, I thought maybe they picked their names
and they made it bracket style and then they let their friends and family vote.
But no, this is up to the team's total stranger who's determining the baby's name.
This is totally, totally wild.
I just have so many questions.
Like what happens if they hate the winning name?
I mean, there's a lot of pressure for those teams.
Yeah.
It's, I do think it's, I'll say this, it's incredibly creative.
And I think it's a great story to tell your kid eventually about how they got their name.
And she better play basketball.
Yeah.
Your name came down to a buzzer beater by the way, kiddo.
I love that.
What a great story.
Coming up next, something else to make you smile.
It's our sunny story of the day, a little daily dose of positivity.
What you find today?
Yeah.
I'm going to tell you how a simple t-shirt is helping save lives right here in our community.
That's next and today's sunny story of the day.
Good vibes.
Good people and good news.
Time for your sunny story of the day.
We try to put you in a good mood every single morning and I think our sunny story of the day helps with that.
What you find today, Joanna?
Yeah.
If you're looking for maybe an easy way to do some good here in our community, we've got the story for you.
So the American Red Cross says that spring break time is usually a pretty tough time for blood donations.
You know, people are traveling, schedules are all over the place.
But the need for blood is still there.
Never takes a break, right?
Nope.
So to help boost donations right now, the Red Cross has teamed up with the feel good brand.
Life is good.
And anybody who decides to donate blood over the next couple of weeks, they're going to get a limited addition.
Life is good t-shirt.
It'll, it never ceases to amaze me.
The lengths that people are willing to go for a free t-shirt.
I'm one of them.
Absolutely, and especially a life is good brand one.
That's good quality right there.
Now, here's the best part I think.
One donation can help save up to three lives.
So, you know, just think about that next time.
Maybe, you know, you're rolling up your sleeve, you're just starting to get the poke.
You are helping out a lot of people out there.
And, you know, hospitals, they really rely on blood supplies every single day.
And that's right here in our community.
So, the need is there.
And maybe a t-shirt will, you know, make you decide to make that appointment today.
Yeah, t-shirt or not.
I'm over due to donate myself.
This is a nice reminder this morning as well.
I love that.
So we're going to put up all the details right now at sunny1065.com.
Or you can sign up to make your blood donation appointment.
And that's your sunny story of the day.
Now, Tony's been on hold with us for a little bit.
Good morning, Tony.
Tell us that good news you're feeling on this Tuesday.
What's going on?
I bought a scratch ticket like two weeks ago.
And I kept it in my pocket.
Yeah.
And I forgot it was there.
Yesterday, I went in, scratched it.
And I scratched off for 500 bucks.
Oh, 500 bucks.
That's nice.
And it was a $2 scratch ticket, people.
$2 bucks.
Return on investment.
Somebody let this, let Tony teach you about ROI today.
Love that.
Congrats, Tony.
Sunny1065.
Sunny1065.
Sunny1065.
Good morning.
This is Joanna.
And this Sean.
And we love Women's History Month that we've been so honored to bring back our annual Women
Who Shine programs sponsored by Wild Car Wash.
And this year, we have highlighted women from all industries, all walks of life, making Southern
Nevada a better place.
And another incredible woman graces our studio this morning, Sean.
Say good morning to Serene Agula from Beauty by Serene.
Now you're not only are you a business owner, you've done like so much other stuff around
town.
Yeah.
So I've been a makeup artist for six years.
The same year that I started doing makeup.
Yeah.
I became a professional cheerleader for the Vegas school tonight.
Awesome.
And I also did two years with the Las Vegas Aces.
That same year, or the same time I was a Viva, we also won the Stanley Cup.
Wow.
And just last year for the Aces, we won a championship.
So the experiences like are so abundant.
And yeah.
You're busy.
On top of all that, you're a mom too.
I am also a mom to a beautiful two year old named Eliana.
We're currently potty training right now.
So that kind of explains the trajectory of my life.
Kind of crazy.
Listen, it's very relatable to a lot of people out there.
And that's why we're so honored to be able to talk with you today because you've done so
much here in Southern Nevada.
And then now you are a business owner.
So tell us how that kind of came to be.
Why did you decide to start Beauty by Serene?
Yeah.
So in the dance world, we are constantly doing hair and makeup for anything in full glam.
And I loved being the teammate to help everyone out in that.
Sure.
They would always come to me for advice.
And I think that's where my love for makeup and beauty just came.
Yeah.
I committed to it at the same, that a year after I had my daughter.
Okay.
She's the reason why I wanted to create a business and have something for myself.
So she can have someone to look up to.
Yes.
I pictured myself dancing for a really long time until my love for makeup became even higher than what it was for dance.
Sure.
Dancing is really hard.
I obviously didn't think I was going to dance for the rest of my life.
It's so physically demanding.
It is.
And makeup.
Making people feel beautiful, something that's like timeless.
Yeah.
I mean, it's definitely timeless.
And it's always a career that's going to be demanding in the entertainment world.
Sure.
So I wanted to be in something that allowed me to be in entertainment on top of glaming people
and make people feel confident and beautiful, right?
And if we could do one more thing, just like plug your Instagram.
Yeah.
We're working people learn about your business and hire you.
Yeah.
So on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, you can find me at Beauty by Serene.
In each one of those social media platforms, I have my link to my website where you can book with me.
You can see my policies, how to book what services I provide, pricing everywhere.
All my information is on that.
Awesome.
Thank you again, Serene.
We appreciate your time this morning.
Thank you guys for having me.
Let's watch where to go and what everyone's talking about.
Here we go.
Joe and the know.
If it's worth talking about Joanna knows about it, what's happening?
Yesterday, Brandy was honored with the 2839 star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Oh, wow. That took a while.
That's overdue.
Yeah. We're talking like 30 years overdue.
I mean, Brandy has been in the music, television, and just really like style, culture, industry forever, right?
So she gave me very emotional speech when she was accepting that honor.
And she talked about, you know, going from teenage superstar to becoming just a voice respected voice in the R&B music world these days.
So congrats to her.
That's a very special honor.
She's got so many great songs.
I'll be sitting up in my room listening to them later.
To the boy's mind, right?
That too.
Yeah.
Now let's share gears to Taylor Swift, because of course, why not?
Big Taylor Swift News this morning.
New music video for Elizabeth Taylor has dropped.
What?
Yeah.
And if you're just telling me about that now, it waited.
Well, listen, it just dropped like a half an hour ago.
But you know, I was checking it out online.
And this video definitely kind of like leans hard into like the classic Hollywood glamour,
which I think a lot of people expected with it being for the music music for the song Elizabeth Taylor, right?
So, you know, Taylor, everything she does is so like not accidental, right?
Everything's with intention.
And of course, fans are looking for those little easter eggs, those little clues in the video as well.
Well, as always, Taylor is the moment.
Absolutely.
And now some refreshing, honest Hollywood news, Vanessa Hutchins.
She's opening up four months postpartum about like this is what it's really like after you have a baby.
And so she shared a photo of like clumps of hair.
She's struggling with postpartum hair loss right now.
But you know what?
She's not pretending that everything just magically snaps back, which a lot of celebrities do.
No, she's like keeping it very real, which I think is so refreshing.
Right.
Don't just show all the glitz and glamour, you know?
Yeah.
Show the real stuff too.
And I love that.
So, you know, kudos to Vanessa Hutchins this morning.
All right.
That's your entertainment report.
I'm Joe.
And now you're in the know.
Thanks for waking up with us.
I can't believe we're waking up and it's the last day of March already.
And you know what that means?
April Fool's Day is tomorrow.
Watch out for those pranksters.
Look, I personally, I love a good prank.
But I think the key to a good prank is that everyone needs to be laughing, right?
Like, they can't be.
I don't like mean pranks.
I'm like mean spirited stuff.
I'm going to tell you what, Sean.
And pranks for me stopped when I became like an adult with anxiety.
Okay.
You got a friend who struggles with anxiety, little anxious, takes Alexa Pro, whatever it is.
Stay like let those friends just live their life.
Okay.
They can't handle anymore surprises.
Right.
Right.
Exactly.
Know your audience when it comes to pranks, right?
Exactly.
702-796-1065 Katrina, thanks for the call.
So what do you think here?
What do you think was the worst prank that you had played on you that you're kind of like?
Wow.
Okay.
I had a good sense of humor about this one.
My family played a prank on me that my car was stolen.
They just like moved it around the block to my grandparents house.
But I would get a million.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But I legitimately thought my car was gone.
No.
See this is what I'm talking about.
Means that's not a prank.
That is that is cruel right there.
Come on.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I thought it's hard drive right in the night before.
So like I was thinking like somebody legitimately stole it.
I feel like I've seen that one on social media too.
Like that's a goodie.
But for me again, someone who battles with anxiety, I would send me in a spiral.
Yeah.
There was a good one at the clock.
All right.
All right.
Yeah.
Thank you Katrina.
Yeah.
702-796-1065.
We'll take more calls.
Should we be getting rid of April Fool's Pranks?
Joanna, we do have a sunny story of the day.
Something that should make you smile.
Can we look next?
Well, you know what?
Spring is actually a time of the year that causes a big problem for a life-saving organization.
But they found a clever way to combat that this year.
And I'm going to fill you in on those details and how you can help coming up next in today's sunny story.
A sunny story of the day.
You're listening to sunny mornings with Joanna and Sean.
I'm sunny.
106.5.
Sunny 106.5.
Brush yourselves April Fool's Day is tomorrow.
Are you ready for those pranks?
I am.
I like good nature pranks.
Of course.
Good natured, good spirited pranks.
Brianna, thanks for the call here.
What do you think?
Are you over the April Fool's jokes?
No, I love April Fool's Day.
My mom was a huge April Fool's Day lady.
She would encourage it, actually.
So it was like you never, we had like old time April Fool's Day things.
Like my brother used to wad up aluminum foil and little balls and put them like right on the top of the refrigerator.
So you'd open the door so all the balls would fall down.
Or like, they always like the switcheroo, the sugar to the salt.
Yeah.
That was always a good one.
And my mom, do you know what short-sheeting the bed?
Is that too like too old?
Sure.
But like you make the bed half way.
And so you get in and it's like your feet don't go all the way down because you would like short-sheet the bed.
Ah.
That's a little tight me for sure.
Probably a little tight me, but we used to do that stuff like that.
Oh, well listen.
I mean, sounds like you've got great memories there.
And you kind of want to keep that spirit alive.
That's awesome.
Yeah, mom was a prankster.
She was a prankster.
She was amazing.
We tell us your mom's name.
Her name?
Yeah.
Geneva.
Oh, pretty name.
Very nice.
Well, I mean, look, sounds like she's probably pulling pranks on the other side now, huh?
She is pulling pranks on the other side.
Yeah.
Love her some others.
Such good memories associated with it.
We love that for you.
Brianna, thanks for chiming in this morning.
Hi, thank you.
That's awesome.
Good nature pranks right there.
I love those.
Good stuff.
Come at up next an hour of commercial-free music, the best variety of the 80s, 90s, and today, sunny 106.5.
