March Madness: Powerhouse Clashes in Sweet 16

On March 24, March Madness has charged into the sweet 16 after a wild first weekend with

the field of 68 teams now trimmed down to the final 16.

Upsets have been scarce this year, setting up a slate of powerhouse clashes that could

lead to one of the best final fours ever in Indianapolis 2.

Weeks from now, all top seeds are holding strong, making every game a potential thriller.

In the East Region, number 1 Duke faces number 5, St. John's on Friday at 7.10pm, Eastern

on CBS, followed by number 2 Yukon against, number 3, Michigan State at 9.45pm.

This bracket stayed chalky, with St. John's pulling off the region's only mild surprise

by beating number 4 Kansas on a last second shot.

The South kicks off Thursday at 7.30pm, Eastern on TBS and True TV, with number 4, Nebraska

taking on number 9, Iowa, who stunned, top-seated reigning champs Florida.

Later that night at 10.05pm, number 2, Houston meets number 3, Illinois, and what feels

like a final four preview.

Over in the West, Thursday's action on CBS features number 2, Purdue versus number

11, Texas at 7.10pm, Eastern, then number 1, Arizona against number 4, Arkansas at 9.45pm.

This is the tournament's lone double-digit seed, still alive, while Arizona leads the

odds as favorites.

Friday in the Midwest on TBS and True TV pits number 1, Michigan against number 4, Alabama

at 7.35pm, with number 2, Iowa State, facing number 6, Tennessee at 10.10pm, both sides

promised fireworks as these teams ramp up for elite 8 bids.
