Ready for a different take on Formula One? Look no further than NoGrip, a new podcast tackling the culture of Motor Racing's most coveted series. Join me, Lily Herman, as we dive into the under-explored pockets of F1. Listen to NoGrip on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Daniel Alarcone, and this is my friend who's much more famous than I am. All leading up to the 2026 World Cup. Together we'll find out why of all the unimportant things football, soccer is the most important. Listen to The Away End with Daniel Alarcone and John Green on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Free agency, combine, pro days, trade, every move matters. From my draft boards and mock drafts to my vaunted top 101 free agents and how rosters come together. Quarterback movement? Surprise signings. We'll tell you what it means and who really wins. Open your free iHeartRadio app, search 40s and free agents and listen now. Hey, when's last time you've listened to Hot 995? Because we have all of the music, but also a lot more. Like in turn, John, in your morning show, I'm Elizabethan E.I. want to make sure you always know about the latest events, deals, and things we're making fun of around the DMV. I love this station. You talk about real stuff. And Nicola is getting you access to all of your favorite artists. And we're all giving a bunch of things away every day. In fact, you might even be able to win a million dollars. Oh, it's never working. Awesome. Where do you see his number one? Hey, music station hot 995 just a summer time in, well, it's about to be the summer time.
And we got the 2006 six. Oh my god, 2006 goodness gracious work up. You have any plans for the work up? Oh my gosh. I got tickets. Guess what? Truman. He's 14. My grandson is a soccer expert. And he is a soccer player. And he's in that desk team, you know, downtown desk, you know, desk, you'll know soon because your kids are going to be in the desk soon to wait and see. And so Truman plays all the time and Sunday he was up in cold spring harbor. My daughter spends all her time driving him to games. But he's, I got him tickets to the final and through a friend. And so he and I are going, he said, you're going, he wants to go with a friend, he doesn't want me to go. I'll see closer to closer to the final time. But then he today said, he, he's sending me a list of all the other games that he wants to attend. One, the Columbia game is down in Miami. So he's going to have to fly down to Miami for it.
He's, he really loves soccer. And so I'll be going to some World Cup matches, I hope. And and he, he's just, he's a good kid. He's a really, he really isn't just sports less basketball and more soccer. I bought him a share in Swansea, you know, Swansea in Wales. Yeah, wow. Yeah. That's really dope. Snoop Dogg, Snoop Dogg was buying into Swansea and he told me about it. So I bought and just Swansea and and took Truman over there. It was very fun. I could give you a video. We beat Rexham for the first game, the first game. And then they played last week and they lost two to one. It wasn't so bad. It was only two to one. We beat, we beat Rexham the first game that was last fall. And Truman, he, he wrote to me and he, he said, why am I buying, why am I buying just a little part of a, of a, you know, team like like Swansea, he said, I, I can find you a team for like 70 or 80,000 pounds.
And then, but then I said, you have to manage it, Truman. The other process. Yeah. You have to go, you have to be the match. Oh, he wanted to own the whole team. Yeah, he wanted by the whole team. He said, you make, he says, you'll make, you'll make five, ten times your money. This way, you're only going to make a little fraction of your money. Yeah, but it's so smart. Do you want to hire him? I like the way he thinks. No, he's a big, he's, he's very, very bright. And so we're going to see what Truman, Truman is up to. We'll see. It's really cool because I, I like soccer, obviously, I can't buy into some of those teams. But, you know, watching it, it's cool. So I'm, I'm curious to see, because I think I'm going to go, I'm going to go to a couple of World Cup games. Yeah, you should. Yeah. Try to get finals, right? I think, right. I think we are. Right across the river here. The only problem with that, though, is that life is the worst place to get to. Yeah, but that's like one, that's one of the things like it's worse than, no matter what. I mean, I'm out of work. Go through the Lincoln tunnel. Yeah, but like, if, if trying to, I went to the, I feel what game was, I think it was legals Jets, it took me way too long to actually get into the stadium, but I saw it for
a good hour and a half, two hours before I actually walked in from the, from the road. The, the earlier. Exactly. Okay, you're right. My bad, my bad. I think I did. I did a, or I'm. You're not a good advanced planner. Hold on. Jailing. Hold on. There's one person here. It is a good advanced planner. Who? Me, compared to him. Oh, he's bad. I'm a huge spurred moment guy, you know? I plan. No, I'm. You don't plan. I'm not, I'm not a good planner and I, and I'm, I'm not a good communicator. So you were really roommates in college at Villanova. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And, uh, and, and you, you were all, you, you all lived in something called room 311. Was 311? 311, Galen? No, we were in Galen. What room were you in? We were in Farley. We were the first one. Farley. Let's room 311. Somebody told me there's. 311 or 314, some of that. It was definitely third four, because I remember those steps. Yeah. And they said they, somebody told me if you lived in a room called 311. I mean, probably 311 Farley.
You did your research on this. I mean, look at this. I have. Oh, yeah, here. Light. What was light? This is a question I was supposed to ask you. What was life like in room 311 at Villanova? Um. And who did the cleaning? Well, actually, luckily we had actually a pretty good group. Well, group. It was deeper. It was J.L. And myself, I wish it was J.L. And myself, one of our teammates, Eric. And then we had, was it Danny, right? I walk on Danny, uh, Danny Gray's. It was the cooking. I mean, none of us cooked. So where did you eat in the cafeteria? Yeah. Yeah. The cafeteria or the team were like, what are us food? Like through like, quote unquote. Um. What was your favorite? What was your favorite takeout? I mean, at that point, I mean, we got Chipotle. Chipotle. Le Dolova. You know, it was, I guess we can't really think of that. But Chipotle, maybe. So what was, what was his worst habit? Oh my god. I had a lot.
He had, he wasn't dirty. He wasn't a dirty person like, what I mean, I mean, like messy. Yeah. He just had so much stuff that it was just like everywhere everywhere. What about you? What was, was, was his worst, worst trait? Um. I was a great roommate. He was pretty good. He was just... I probably knocked on his door. Yeah, he would be annoying. That was his only thing. It was just like... I'd be like, yeah. What are you doing? Study in your room or did you study? I mean, you did very well in college I found out. Yeah. Amazingly well. You graduated in three years. Yeah, I know. Incredible. That's a difficult school too. Thank you. But where did you study in that library? Uh, maybe once or twice in a library. I lost in your room? No. I couldn't, I couldn't really study in my room. But you didn't study? Just like we had a, we had a, our film room at the facility also kind of, when we weren't using it, that's where you did like, I worked. Mm-hmm. And so, I mean, it was quiet if people weren't in there to do stuff like that. But you graduated in communications. Yes. And what about you?
Same. Oh, communications. Yeah. But I'm a terrible communicator. No, you're not looking. You have a podcast. No, yeah, I can do this. You're just like texting and phone calls. I'm not good. Yeah, that's a secretary. Trying to play. No, because now that's another pro. Oh, that's like my wife, my wife's my secretary. She is? Do you know that? Yeah, because now she, when I can't, when he doesn't answer, I call her, when it's important I call her. And like now, like, somebody would eat like, my marketing agent, Tosh, like she'll, or Matt, like they'll text me about something I have to do, or like they're like, check, hey, like, you know, we sent you an email, whatever. And she's actually, she has my email on her phone for some reason. And now, so she like opens all the emails and kind of like, let me know what I'm, what I'm doing. No, okay. So she's, she's solid. She's like my son. How many years ago was that? You're, you're 29, Jalen. So I haven't, when did you graduate? How old were you? Like 21? 2018. A graduate. 21. Okay.
But that, what we, that year we lived was 2016. 16, 17. Let me look together. Yeah. Because he graduated here before me. And did you start playing ball? I mean, professional right away? Right after, yeah. Right away. It's amazing. Yeah. Oh, it's so much fun. So I mean, you're just, you have, you have the charmed life. I mean, this is every kid's dream to be who you are, right? I would hope. And I think so. I think they all, every, every kid wants to be you guys. And you have a big responsibility. Yeah. You live up to your responsibilities. I think. That's a loaded question. I think that was terrible. That's a terrible question. I just made that up. I just made that up. No. I would say except Truman. It's not like Truman wants to be messier and all though. Oh. Oh, no. You kidding? He does not like some of those guys. Who's this favorite soccer player? His favorite soccer ball. His team is Liverpool. Oh, God. Yeah. He likes Liverpool.
How are they doing now? I feel like I've lost track. They are fifth, I think. And they're fifth. I think. And they're fifth. Oh, he must be. He must be depressed. I haven't talked to him about it at all. But, but it's not terrible though. Because in Europe, obviously you have, they're in a Premier League. Yes. So, but then like the main, not the main league. But like the big thing is Champions League. Like you want to qualify for Champions League. Are they going to qualify this year? They're like on the cusp because you get four teams in the Premier League. But then depending on the performance of. So, let me tell you what he said to the, to the owner of Liverpool. After the game, Liverpool won. Mm-hmm. They were, they were playing. Cottonham. Okay. And so Liverpool won. And then the owner had us in his suite. And they were treating us nicely. And because we were owner soccer owners. And, and Truman's asked the guy in front of everybody. All the adults, Truman says, can I tell you something? And the, and the owner said, yes, you could, you can.
And he said, or can I ask you something? And he said, why don't you fire the coach. Mm-hmm. And replace him with last year's coach. The team like that last year's coach much better than this year's coach. Oh, a clop. Yeah. Yeah, clop was amazing. That's a, I said, hell of a question. Is that a good strategy? Maybe since they're in fifth place. And they were in first place last year. Yeah, clop was, he was probably one of the best managers in the world. But I just think he wanted to like, I think he wanted to more so step away. Yeah. Because he still is in. Truman thought they should bring him back. Um, I mean, if they have the chance, they definitely should. But anyway, this is beyond my pay grade. I have no idea what I'm talking about. But Truman does. He wants to, he'll be, he'll be probably, maybe he'll run the mix. That's not bad. Yeah. Not a bad gig. How about that, Truman? I need to, I think I'm going to go to the finals because I have,
through this ambassador ship, I did with, uh, with them. I have like, tickets to the, to the New York game. So maybe I'll, maybe I, I got to meet Truman there. Yeah. I want you to meet Truman. He'll, he would, he'd like him. He's a good kid. All right. The season's given real playoff. It's going to be here before we know it. And Dordash is basically the third member of this friendship. Sorry, Matt. Hit that Dordash out and stay in your bag early because Josh definitely won't share his food. That's crazy. Real crazy. I gotta say it's true. Players got their bags, but fans got theirs too. And Dordash keeps mine elite. Snacks dialed in. Shout out to Mike and Nikes. Drink's ready. Gear fresh enough that I look like I'm wearing in a tunnel fit. Even when I'm walking into the Jalen's house. Bro shows up like it's a runway. And he's just here to watch film. Just kidding. Josh doesn't even watch film. Meanwhile, if my team drops a close one, Dordash already knows I need dessert immediately. My group check was silent. Josh included, but Dordash always pulls through. That's because I'm busy rewatching the highlights. I like 12 thirds. You don't even watch highlights. We know how it goes. You're up late. You need chips. Or like something random.
Dordash was literally built for those exact. I'm starving, but also exhausted moments. Dordash has been walking like the man. Snacks cuts even spirit charger for Josh because he somehow lives his whole life on one percent. I'm kinda serious today, but hey. From tip off to OT, stay in your bag and order on Dordash. Snacks drinks gear. Everything you need is survived the season. Dordash and your bag all season long.
