My name is Doug McCain, you can follow me on X and Instagram at DMACC underscore LA.
I've covered LA sports for over a decade, 24 seven sports bleach report, SI Dodgers
Nation.
As always, I'm doing by the Rams pre-half and post game show host for the Rams flagship
radio station, ESPN 710 LA, he's gonna be entering his 12 season cover your Los Angeles
Rams.
The people, Mr Travis Rogers, you can follow him on X at Travis Rogers and on today's show,
the NFL free agent frenzy is quickly arriving.
We've got some free agents that are going to be realistic options after the Rams made
their big swing, but the big story today, Travis is yesterday.
The Rams did what was expected and give the newly acquired corner bag, Tread McDuffy,
the bag, and it was a big bag.
He completely reset the market, a $124 million deal, $31 million per season, making him
the highest paid corner bag in the national football league.
Yeah, they went big.
I think we knew that this was coming, right?
When they made the deal to go get him in the first place, you knew that the price was
going to go way beyond just that first rounder and whatever else they threw in that, you
know, the unspoken part of this was they were going to extend him and we found out exactly
what that extension looks like.
Like you mentioned, it resets the market and I think that, you know, when you do a deal
like this, you only know whether it was a good deal or not based on what's about to
happen next.
We know he's a great player, right?
We know that he instantly made the Rams a much better team just by walking through the
door.
But is this a much better team for 2026 or is this a much better team for 2026 and beyond?
I feel like the Rams have put everything that they have into this upcoming season and
they'll figure out everything else down the line.
So, you know, three years from now, could this be a deal that you're like, holy smoke?
How do you get out from underneath this?
Sure it could be.
Or could this be a, hey, we won the Super Bowl with this guy in large part because he was
here and this was the going price and we're just stretching the cost out over a longer
period of time.
Then that's a good deal.
So it's a big risk.
He's a great player.
Great players are very expensive and they even have a lot of money.
And now the next thing that they have to do is go out and win a bunch of football games.
Exactly.
And I think that for McDuffie, the kind of take is, oh, he's not the best cornerback
in football.
Why is he the highest paid cornerback in football?
Well, that's because when you're top five at your position and your turn to get paid,
you reset the market.
This is not some indication that he's better than sauce gardener or Patrick's or 10 or
any of those guys.
But you just wouldn't be sitting at that table in some capacity.
His strengths are better than some of those guys' strengths, right?
And what he does at a very early level is he can be big and physical.
He's never a lot more than 100 yards per game.
And he wasn't all pro quarterback, even at the outside quarterback position level, a second
team in 2024.
And look, the truth is that by the time that this contract could hurt them, Matthew Stafford
is going to be an analyst, right?
He's going to be in a suit somewhere talking about the game of football.
So the truth is, is this money is going to be money well spent because you had to get
this deal done after giving up the draft capital to get him.
If it helps you or helps you get closer winning a Super Bowl in 2026 and 2027.
So really, this will work out for me if we are talking about either Rams winning or even
the Rams losing, but we're not talking about that being a reason why they lost is, oh,
they got cooked.
They didn't have, they had a lack of premium talent at that position.
He is premium talent.
And that work is throwing around a lot.
The word elite is throwing around a lot, but he's someone that certainly, for talking
about top five being elite, he is a top five quarterback in his league.
Yeah.
And like you said, you know, whoever up next is the guy that gets to set the market.
Like, think about it was Jordan love ever the best quarterback in football.
No, was Dak Prescott ever the best quarterback in football?
No, it's just that it's their turn to get in line and get paid and they shoot right to
the top of the list.
Look, Matthew Stafford is about to get a new contract and was he the best quarterback
in football?
Yeah, he was.
Right.
So he's going to get moved up there and this is just the nature of the NFL.
You said it.
Are they better now than they were?
Will they have an opportunity to win the Super Bowl because they upgraded talent in an
area that they absolutely had to do it?
Yeah.
I think, you know, I think they've got a much better chance now than they have before.
And it wasn't just going to happen because you wanted it to happen.
You're going to have to go pay for it.
Sometimes when it's time to go pay for the thing that you really want, you got to pay
a little tax on it.
You got to pay a little premium to get that thing that you want because the other guy
knows that you want it and that's what this was.
And, you know, I like it.
I'm here.
You know, here we are in the first, second week of March and I really like it two years
from now.
It may be the thing that's hanging around their neck like an anchor, but I like that
they're going for it.
I like when they think that they're close.
You know, what you and I think and Rams fans think is one thing, but if less needed
Sean McVeigh think they're really close and they think that they're a Trent McDuffie
away from getting closer to this thing and they're going for it and they're spending
money to do it.
They're spending draft capital to do it.
That fills me with a great deal of confidence because they're not a reckless team.
They don't do crazy things like some other teams do just to win the off season, just to win
the press conference.
They do things because they think it's going to give them a chance to win a Super Bowl.
And that's why they gave Trent McDuffie all that money.
Yeah, exactly.
And that's kind of where I'm at on that as well as that this is not some future Hall of
Famer already type of player that we've seen them trade for whether it be a Von Miller
or a Jalen Ramsey or a choir and Odell Beckham Jr.
Those are the guys that when you got them, you kind of knew a lot about them.
I mean, how many fans really knew about Trent McDuffie before this trade?
I think a lot of them will claim they did, but the truth is I think people ran to Google
like who's Trent McDuffie?
I mean, if they were the everyday listeners, they would know that we talked about them really
the day after they lost to the Seahawks, but I do think Travis, it's kind of this oversimplification
on whether or not there's a good deal.
People are saying, oh, if they win a Super Bowl, it's a good deal.
If they don't, it's a bad deal.
It's really not that.
It does it help them get closer to not losing to the eventual Super Bowl champion, which
they've done the last two years.
And here's the way to look at it.
Two Travis is you got to consider the current deal that he's on.
And I think this is just good business by Les Sneed, because if you want to view this
contract as the $124 million deal with four years and fine at $31 million per season,
but if you look at a five year $137.5 million deal, if you include the following season,
well, then it's at $27.5 million per season.
So really, essentially, Les Sneed gets to tell his guy, you're the highest paid cornerback
in the NFL.
You get that notoriety.
You go into training camp and the season going, hey, I have to play.
Make up a $31 million high as paid cornerback in the NFL when you look at the reality of
the contract.
That's not necessarily the case.
Well, the way that NFL contracts are structured and the way that this stuff is laid out and presented
to the public is quite frankly, something de-mac.
I will never understand, because the guaranteed versus the non-guaranteed, the stretch and
the cap year and the cap hit and all of this other stuff is this stuff is mostly for agents,
right?
You can go back to his agency and go recruit his next guy, saying, I got the highest
player a contract at this position or that position.
The teams, they know how to get there to get out of this if they have to, how to minimize
some of the damage if they have to.
So the language of the contract is one of those things that I don't fully understand.
I know they have a much better player.
I know it cost them a lot of money.
I know it cost him a first round draft pick and I know that he's got to come in and look,
there's a lot of pressure on him, right?
If he comes in to your point, when we would watch the Rams lose last year, at least on
occasion, they're like, they really struggled because a manual Forbes couldn't cover anybody.
They really struggled because a killer with a spoon had a tough day or they really struggled
because Darius Williams wasn't up for it.
Whatever that play, you know, they make a trade for Roger McCurray, it doesn't really
work out.
It was very obvious where, if that's still true, if we're talking about Matt Trimick,
Duffy had a bad day, then all of a sudden we're talking about things very differently.
If we're talking about they couldn't score or they missed another kick or they can't
get pressure on the quarterback, that's a different story, but at least they've taken
this off the table, hopefully, for next year, I think that was the goal and I think they
accomplished it.
I did too, and I think that some will say, oh, a dollar spent towards Big Duffy is one
less dollar we can spend for another player, right?
This is not Major League Baseball, really, everyone can spend around the same mindset.
How do you distribute that money?
Well, here are the other options.
The other options outside of doing what they did and give up the picks and give him
the money.
One, bring back the same level of players and just hope for better.
Hope that, oh, this is their year, hopefully they turn the quarter, hopefully with development
that they can find some better results.
And then two, you could draft a lot of unproven rookies in the same thing.
Hope that they are those guys.
Hope that their NFL caliber starting caliber players at a difficult position, year one,
year three, you could distribute that money differently inside a bunch of middle-level
cornerbacks and hope that just one of them steps up or one of them is good enough to get
the job done.
Well, if I'm Matthew Stafford, that's not good enough for me.
If I'm Sean McVeigh, that's not good enough for me.
If I'm this team in this roster building, knowing where it's at, that's not good enough
for me.
They needed the most proven best performing corner they could get and they certainly did that
and they went out and paid him.
Now, do they need to go get a guy to play the other side and correct that they do?
Hey, it makes the other side a little easier to fill when you got the guy.
I think I will say though this time, there's some pressure on Tramick Duffy.
There's some pressure on him with a lot of pressure on him.
I think there's a ton of pressure on him.
You know, when you're the highest paid blank at your position, yeah, you better be pretty
darn good.
And if you have a bad day, we're going to look at that spot first.
I like what you said, like the idea of just, well, maybe everybody will be better next
year.
Yeah, maybe they'll be worse, you know, like just trying to think
that things will get better because they're going to get better seems like a really careless
way to go about doing it.
So I liked that they were proactive in going to do it.
Now you can try to get better through the draft or sign a better in player or maybe try
to draft and develop somebody a little bit later on on one half of the field.
At least if you have one half of the field that's pretty darn good.
So I think that they've reduced their risk if not eliminated, but they still do need
to get better there.
You know, they have one guy there now that is a really good player that is somebody that
you can lean on, but they needed to get better across the board at cornerback.
So I don't think that they're done.
I think that they will draft guys at that position.
I still think that they'll be looking at the free agent market at that position.
I think that you're going to see a whole bunch of movement there.
I think this is the biggest name that we're going to see.
This is the biggest splash that we'll see.
But I don't think it's done because it's better, but I don't know if it's good enough.
And like we've talked about from the moment the season ended, they are going for it.
Right.
I mean, we did something.
Let's see what it looks like.
It's we've done something, but now what can we do else or what else can we do to get this
done here?
And I think this is the beginning of it.
I don't think it's the end.
I did too.
There's still work to be done for Mick Snead.
We're going to talk about a player that announces retirement that's going to make their jobs
a little easier to get some more talent at that position.
That's coming up next.
I'll lock down Rams.

It's like a better, but I'm telling you like that we figured something out here.
It's like it's cool to go to Twitter and stuff, but you can say things in the Discord
that it's like it's like a safe space, right?
It's like you don't have to worry about the backlash of Twitter that you can say, you can
say it with your chest on Discord, I just put it that way and I've seen Rams certainly
do that.
I mean, I can't imagine like a Dodgers Discord would look like after like a Tanner Scott
blown save, but they say things there they would not say on on Twitter or other social
media.
So I'm just saying, go join today, I'll be in there this afternoon, look now, you guys
trying to get some topics.
I want to get your comments on the show too.
So I'm telling you that I'm a big believer in the everyday, you know what, okay, Travis,
you ever go to like a comedy club these days or see a comedy show and they put your phone
in the bag and lock it up.
It's to me what a Discord is now.
It's like, you get that like safety of like, hey, like I'm not to worry, I'm not saying
people are saying they're crazy stuff, but I'm just saying like, you know, it's like they're
giving their honest opinions, right?
You've got your opportunities to let your innermost thoughts out in a safe spot without
judgment with fellow people who would look at the world like you do.
There it is.
It's like what's more like the judgment thing.
It's like they want to say things without like, oh, maybe this is a take that someone will
prove otherwise.
It's like they can do it like in a friendlier way.
I totally totally agree.
By the way, before we get our next topic, I don't know if you saw the wild world of Pukin
Akua again, this off season, do you see him at the UFC event?
He looked like he was having a really, really good time.
It's great to see Pukin Akua after such a tough year where he put out one of the best
season, the Rams history.
Just kind of let loose a little bit and enjoy his off season.
I love what I'm seeing franchise tag, baby.
By the way, do you see that UFC fight?
Paramount plus like win black like it was like the series finale of the sopranos.
I really did it when black and I was like, dude, like it was created for everyone too,
which was kind of wild there.
Well, I'm sure the UFC crowd was perfectly understanding of how the technology
dropping down on them.
So no problems there, right?
No, this dude, Olivera, like in Holloway, he was like, this guy was like a bowl
constrict around this.
You've like three rounds just constrict him and you should watch UFC fight and watch
how you look.
I was like, I like watch it like this.
You're like watching, I mean, like it's like it's so barbaric, and I feel like such a,
you know, it's kind of wild, but I can't, it's not for me.
People like it.
That's great.
Good for you.
But I can watch boxing all day long.
I just, I can't do UFC, it's just not my cup of tea.
Yeah, you probably, fans are probably like, okay, what is that about UFC?
I could see Aaron Donnell be like the cabeeb, like Aaron Donnell, a cabeeb going as John
Jones or something like, no, no, I don't, I don't want to mess with Aaron Donnell in
any way, shape or like just leave that man alone, let him do whatever he wants.
Okay.
Fair enough.
All right.
Travis.
So yeah, speaking of retirement, right?
There's Williams announces retirement.
And that is going to save the Rams seven and a half million dollars.
So look, I think the way to kind of sow this in with the previous topic and why I feel
really good about Tremick Duffy is cornerback is a young man's position and he's 25 years
old.
And you guys go from 29 to 30 and they might as well go from 29 to 80, right?
The way that position is played these days and we saw it, Derek Williams, some, some
really solid years, they gave him a nice contract, but unfortunately it's, this is a level
of athleticism that when you lose even a half a step, it can impact you so significantly
on the field.
And we saw that with Derek Williams in his time with the Rams in the second go round.
Yeah.
I think that this is the spot on the field.
Look, we all know that NFL players are just different, right?
And the level of athleticism that they're bringing to what it is that they do is just
off the charts.
Amazing.
But the place where it shows the most is the further you get away from the ball, right?
You get out on those edges and those guys are just different.
And if you are an NFL defensive back, if you're an NFL cornerback, you might need the
best athlete on the entire field because you've got to do it all while going backwards.
You've got to do it all while understanding, I have no idea where I'm going, but that
guy that I got to stick with those exactly where he's going and that they can do it.
So the second, a little bit of that athleticism starts to fade and just think about years and
years of collisions, of injuries, of little bumps and bruises of just time wearing down
on you.
The second that margin is even mildly compromised.
It's a glaring problem.
And that's why those guys, like you said, Doug.
They go from really good to really good to really good to I can't use it anymore.
There's almost never a soft glide at that position.
It's just, it's just too difficult.
The athletes on the other side are just too good.
So Derrius Williams was a really good ram for a very long time.
I think you can feel really good about what he did, but it also looked like it was time
to go on to the next group of guys because that is just a brutal, brutal position and unforgiving
position.
You could just see it just he just was a hair short at that spot and in the NFL, a hair
short might as well be a mile.
Exactly.
I mean, the thing too is he was, I want to say an older 32, but he was a late bloomer too.
So like, I mean, that's the thing about him.
And what's really interesting about his story is it's just a fantastic one.
It really is.
This is one of those stories where you look back and you just smiled just because this
is a guy that overcame the odds.
I mean, he entered the NFL as an undrafted free with the Ravens in 2018 after four years
at UAB.
But those were your normal four years.
He left D3 football, D3 football after his freshman year, yet some family issues came
back to UAB three years later as a walk on when undrafted and then he carved out an eight
year career where he won a Super Bowl.
He started 13 games for that team that won a Super Bowl, I never forget too in 2020.
My man was like one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, I never forget that the intercept
she had off Russell Wilson on that screen past like the dude was an absolute menace that
year.
So it is a really great story.
And I'm sure that hey, you'd probably like to maybe play a couple more years, but hey,
we all know with the NFL stands for I'm not going to say what it does.
But I think for him, he kind of looks back at us to smile like, hey, man, like we did
it, man.
No, to take the path that you just described and to just make it to the NFL, to make it
back to college football after something like that is amazing, much less to go on the league,
to thrive in the league, to win a Super Bowl, to be like you said, one of the better guides
in his position for a period of time, it's a remarkable achievement and I wish him nothing
but the best.
And you know, this is one of these things that you've got to be a little lucky if you're
the Rams.
It's a little bit one of these, hey, he decides to go at a time that you need to free
up some money and allows you maybe to go and look at some guys.
Maybe you weren't thinking you could afford otherwise and gives you a little bit more flexibility.
It's another roster spot that you can use.
So, you know, these are all things that may turn out to be blessings in disguise for the
Rams.
Exactly.
I know you love doing this.
We did this a couple times in the show and let's play his career earnings and he's
at 44,560,690.
So, you know what?
This is a Spodetrack, right?
You know what Spodetrack needs?
And this is so, Spodetrack has a premium service where you could pay and you get some additional
stuff.
I don't, I'm not a member of that, like I'm a member of a lot of things, like I'm scared
to look at my subscription stuff, but I'm also really picky as well.
I'm not ready to drop the whatever I need to pay mother for Spodetrack for this information.
You know what I would though is if I could get how much they actually have now.
Like I want to, like, in their bank account now, like, they're like spend, like,
spending and taxes, like, like, you know, I'm sure there's some irresponsible spending
for some guys.
I need the, how much they made and how much they have.
To me, that's, to me, that's like 20 bucks a month of subscription for me if I could
get that, right?
100%.
This is what they made.
This is what they have.
Yes.
And then I need, I need your 401Ks.
I need your checking.
I need your, your 403Bs.
I need your iris, your Roths, your Seps.
I need to know where all of the money is.
So I can determine, you know, when you get to walk away from these things, that would
be fascinating.
I need, I need to know what your most expensive purchase is.
I need like little pockets, like jewelry, cars, houses, clothes, like, like vacation.
I want, like, see, to me, like, this is what I'm talking about, right?
This is what I need.
Because then it's like, you think about it.
What about a category that's like unallocated expenditures?
And they're just huge numbers.
And you've got to try to figure out where it is that the money
went to.
That would be fun.
I'm, I'm all in on this idea.
And then a side column for requests from family members, like how much he's family members,
family and friends, like a Jamie, we'll call it the Jamest Winston list.
I have you saw his family was spending like 500K a month or something crazy, right?
So like, we need that too.
So yeah, for all these people, oh, they made this much of money.
Yeah, they did.
The agent comes, attack uncle Sam comes and, yeah, for me, trust me, I, this money, I'd
be balling out of control.
Like, I guarantee I'd be a, I'd be Antoine Walker with it, right?
Like, you have no idea.
Maybe Vince Young with the opening stake houses, right?
Like, that's how I get down for sure.
Well, remember when Patrick viewing when the NBA was going through its labor situation
many, many years ago, and he was asked, you know, why they were fighting for what they
were fighting for.
He said, well, yeah, sure, we make a lot of money, but don't forget, we also spend a lot
of money.
So never forget that, you know, they, you make a lot, you're going to spend a lot.
So, you know, that's something people can relate to.
Hey, never ever get with the trail, free will got that contract offer.
And he said that it wasn't up to feed his family.
So he had to, yeah, 15 and then you got the free well rims, right?
They're still spinning to this day.
Never played another play in the NBA, never not one more play.
Not one man.
Yeah.
Use it.
He was a choke artist, but not like in that kind, right?
In the more like PJ Carlisomo vibe.
But coming up next, real quick, we're going to give you a little free agency buzz.
The NFL free agency is here, Ramley.
That's going to be up next.
A lot down Rams.
We live in a world where we can stream just about anything you want, right?
Order food in minutes and carry little supercomputers right here in our pockets and somehow buying tickets
to a live game still feels complicated.
We're talking hidden fees, jumping prices and pretty much endless steps.
There needs to be a better way.
There is.
That's why I use game time.
It gives fans the advantage and makes getting tickets simple, whether we're talking about
the NFL concert, comedy show like Doug mentioned a minute ago, whatever it is that you're into.
You jump into the app, you check out the tickets for your upcoming event and honestly, it
only takes a couple of minutes.
You see panoramic views from every seat before you buy and this is my favorite part.
You've heard me mention this for months.
The price you see includes all of your fees.
No surprise at checkout two taps and you have great seats locked in fast, easy, done.
So take the guesswork out of buying tickets, download the game time app, create an account,
use the code locked on for $20 off your first purchase, terms apply.
Again, create an account, redeem your code, locked on, L-O-C-K-E-D-O-N for $20 off, download
game time today.

All right, Travis.
So it's going to be a big week, free agency.
And we'll start with the Rams just setting themselves up for free agency.
They've done a really good job of doing that.
You already 10 or three exclusive rights for agents with Xavier Smith, Harrison Meevis,
and Justin Dietich.
You got the deal done for McDuffee.
And now you kind of got the deal done with Cam Curle and Tyler Higby.
I mean, they put in a lot of work to kind of set themselves up where they can be, I think
the word is opportunistic, but with a purpose.
And they have to be intentional.
They know what other holes they have on the roster, but now they don't have to be desperate.
No, there aren't a pretty good spot.
The other one that just, you know, again, it's like doing your monthly budget, right?
You just don't know exactly how much you're going to have to spend on Matthew Stafford.
I'm sure everybody has a pretty good understanding of what it's going to be.
It's going to be more than it was before.
Of course it is.
Is it a year?
Is it two years?
How long is it?
What do the outs look like?
So you need to get the economics of your quarterback figured out.
But again, I'm sure that they've allocated that money and then they know what else it is
that they can spend on some other things.
But I like it.
I think your word is the right one to be opportunistic, that if something does show up that you
really like, you can jump on it.
Keep in mind, they still have the 13th pick in the draft, too.
So if they need to use that to go do something else, they can not.
I think I'd like to see them draft.
I think I'd like to see them take advantage of that pick, but I think you're right.
I think that they've set themselves up to be flexible.
That they're not kind of boxed into one particular place that they can go do it.
It's free agents.
Great.
If it's trades, fine.
If it's draft, fine.
They have a lot of different options at this point, which is, I think the best that you
could hope for.
Exactly.
And I think where they're at right now, you definitely have to get that number done.
And one thing we'll talk about that a little more in depth tomorrow.
But yeah, I mean, they definitely need to look at backup quarterback, back up quarterback,
also adding another quarterback.
I did here on your show.
You talking about the idea of Gino Smith as a backup quarterback.
I think that'd be a great option for sure.
Well, if Gino, if Jimmy G goes to Arizona, which is being, you know, speculated that he
goes with Michael, a floor that the floor wants to hit the ground running with the guy
that he knows that he trusts, that knows the offense, they don't have to start from scratch.
Then you do need to fill that because I don't think that Stetson Bennett is ready to carry
the water for a team that is on, you know, Super Bowl or bust mode.
You're going to need somebody that has played in this league a long time.
It's had success in the league.
And I, you know, a lot like Jimmy Garoppolo, I think that you can feel pretty good as Gino
Smith has to play for a couple of weeks.
And I get it.
Gino was terrible with the Raiders last year, like legitimately terrible.
But I think that has more to do with the Raiders than it does with Gino Smith.
We've seen so many guys go through Vegas and just be bad and then come somewhere else.
And it looks pretty good.
Remember, they got Jimmy G out of Vegas.
So the awful year that Gino Smith put together with the Raiders doesn't really scare me
all that much.
The part with Smith that I think is interesting is how expensive would he be because he is
a long time starter.
Is he ready to slide into that backup quarterback at this point in his career?
And if so, what does it cost?
But if you had to play three or four games with Gino Smith as your starter, I can live
with that.
Yeah.
And I definitely think that you always have to look at a guy through the prism of backup
versus starter.
And as a backup, it makes a lot of sense.
But I will say, I mean, I just saw this about Gino Smith.
I just had the worst season ever, traded from the Seahawks immediately when the Super Bowl
led the NFL in interceptions, the worst regular NFL got P Carol fired for the second time
in two years, got Max Cosby traded cut after one season.
So the reason I say it is not to drag Gino Smith is to say, Hey, every setbacks and opportunity
for a comeback.
Right.
So, hey, this is where you go to revitalize your career Travis.
Look, if that is what you just told me, I think I'd like to change my mind.
That is brutal.
That is absolutely off of poor, dude, poor Gino Smith.
That sounds just terrible.
I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.
Yeah, we gave you the Disney movie in various Williams in the second segment.
And there's like a 24 like tragic like horror in the third segment.
So that's for it.
That's for Gino Smith, for sure.
But yeah, I mean, they got work to do.
I mean, I'm looking at a guy named Sean Wright, looking at guys like a Monterey Brown guy.
They're corners that they can look at.
Very excited to see they get, but we're going to be locked on all week.
And we're going to be breaking it down free agencies here at Travis.
This is not your long slogged out baseball one that takes 10 years to get done the all season.
We're going to know if this roster looks like before the draft and like you said, a snap
of a finger very soon.
And it's going to be very exciting.
I can't wait.
Like, this is a fun time of year.
The NFL is I don't know how they do it, but they've managed to make us talk about their
league and their teams every single day, 365 days a year.
It really is extraordinary and free agency and shoot the drafts right around the corner
too.
Yeah.
And there's some of the NFL.
It's when you talk about this on the show before I know you got to go, but like it does
blow my mind that there's 17 games in the season, but somehow some way there's enough
for like 30 minute episodes every day is a week that we could probably even do for an
hour.
It would be brilliant.
The NFL, they have figured this thing out for sure.
And I think it really you nailed it.
I think that the reason we care about this, the way that we care about, obviously gambling
and fantasy, just put that aside.
That's obviously a huge part of this.
But the other big part of this is scarcity.
They're just aren't enough games.
You and I both love baseball, right?
There's a game every night for seven months.
Okay.
There's a lot of games.
We scratch that itch.
The NBA, their players don't play for half of the 80 games that they're in.
So that's kind of something that the NFL every game matters, like, and matters a lot.
And one win, one loss is the difference between everything.
It's just, it's extraordinary.
It's the best thing going.
And that's why I think like podcasts like this for Rans fans, like people like Watson
love them so much because like we are like, we are like a Gatorade in the middle of like
the Sahara Desert, right?
Like when you're desperate for football for anything, like we could give you something
for 30 minutes and then you're going to be back to missing football again right now.
So yeah, I love it, but the free agencies here, the Rams are all in and we'll be back
tomorrow.
My name is Doug McCain.
You can follow me on accident Instagram at DMACC underscore late and you can follow the
