RBV Rural’s Matt Beard goes through some sales from the Central Highlands with Ben
Welcome back to Rural Queens Land today, Ben Doberman with me this morning and RBV Rural
Maddy Beer joins us this morning.
Look, next Tuesday will be their first win or sale, 4,000 head expected.
Yesterday there was a 1,000 head offered.
The market obviously reflective that there is a lot of cattle coming next week.
Matt, be good morning and thanks so much for being with us.
I think good morning, Dober.
How are you, mate?
Hey, Bill, thanks.
Yeah, everything's going pretty good here at the moment.
We'd all appreciate probably just a little bit of moisture coming through to the,
without it there's a few truckers in the panic and a bit of weight-means right and
should pay.
But look, you just take as a come.
Yeah, it's interesting, a really good start to the year and then obviously, you know,
things are drawing out and, you know, the projections for my art are great, but you
hold that with a grain of salt and obviously you don't really rely on that kind of thing.
Only a 1,000 head, that's reflective of what happens, is happening mixed Tuesday, 4,000
head booked.
A lot of prime cattle.
How was that job, mate?
Oh, look, it was pretty solid, Dober.
To be honest, I thought the lead of the fat cattle may not have been a lot dearer than
the previous week, but certainly what we saw was that secondary sort of cattle were
a lot more competitive and certainly many more processes there will into participate
on those stock as well, too.
So, the noble excited quite as such and look largely because of that wiener style.
It was, it basically was a glorified cow cow sale with a handful of other lines of cattle.
But there's about heavy cows there, $3.30 again, but with that mid-range cow, it's sort
of probably listed from the low to, you know, that mid to high, $2.00 range, and that cow,
you know, 4.30 to 4.80 kilos there with a little bit of condition without being grown.
Yeah, and that speaks volumes of what's going on, doesn't it?
You know, there is obviously a lot happening at the present moment.
And I ask you, in your opinion, you know, with that prime job, is it, what's driving
that, you know, coming out of Rockhampton, is there a shortage of numbers again, you
know, three weeks ago they didn't want anything, now they're chasing them again?
Well, I think in the central, just because of the capacity of stock around them here,
I think the book is still well and truly out in advance at the moment, you know, probably
what we are starting to see from what sources are telling me is that numbers are starting
up a little bit in the South, hopefully those, you know, Dolby South can get a really good
shot of rain right through to the, you know, Victorian border and beyond just to wet things
up.
And I think that'll really help supply exploding out a little bit and the whole country
will benefit from it.
Yeah, and that's the big thing, if they can get that.
So let's talk about that cow job.
How was it?
Where was it at?
Yeah, best heavy cows into the street all of 30 range, but it was probably the real
highlight with that cow that was in that middle bracket, you know, four, 50 to 500 kilo
cow.
Back to seeing a lot of those cows into that 275 sort of bar, which we, you know, that
was probably 25, 30 cents better than the previous week.
Yeah, that boats well.
Now mate, Emerald Auction Centre, I've got to ask you, obviously, that you'll have the
MJ mechanical auction running from the 8th to the 11th of May.
So next week that kicks up, but you're taking bookings for the big one, the end of fine
entry year, which will be the 12th to 15th of June, you're taking bookings now.
Yeah, that's right, Dave, we sort of just about finished our deliveries from our
April Auction.
And I ended up with about 90 to think clearance right out of that style, so that's come
off pretty well.
And now those guys are sort of just on the road and they're going to start gathering
up our assets against the next June Auction.
So it's pretty easy, you know, anyone can go to our website anytime and view what can
that upcoming catalog or just go ahead and book in the button and pick that tab or give
one on the same call and we'll be in touch.
And that's the big thing, isn't it?
You know, like you guys have got a lot going on there and obviously, you know, very, very
the clearance right, you talk about that, there's nowhere else that's clearing like you
guys.
So people who are wanting to book Machinery in, there's a real opportunity, you've got
people prepared to sell, they haven't got unrealistic values on their Machinery.
And you guys move Machinery, that is, what has become very evident over a long period
of time at Emory Auction.
So any of you guys get the job done?
Well, and look, I must say that there are some assets that we walk away from, that we
sort of feel that may not be calling one with the market too, you know, so it's probably
not that we are achieving something that is exponentially far greater than anything else.
You know, it's probably that we just, we decide to go with people that are sending them
want to sell it or really want to buy it and put those two parties together.
Yeah.
I like it.
I like it a lot.
Mate, you've got some properties on the market and obviously you guys have been doing
a lot of online with property sales at the moment and it seems to be very successful.
Bluegrass Plains will shut today by the conclusion of this show at 10 o'clock in gatorbvrural.com
but you've also got Eaton Vale and Bagpipe, the Clamont, that's next week, a Matilda Downs
Aggression Cappella, that's in three weeks' time, that closes, that's online as well.
So some significant properties on the market at the moment.
Yeah, look, this is probably a fairly normal cycle for this time of year, although they tend
to get out of a summer period, you market that sort of property around the Easter time
and post and then have an auction made June.
So we have Bluegrass Plains locally, to the honest, we think this is the future of selling
property and it sort of covers a lot of bases from an online auction point of view.
Very transparent, very simple and look, anyone can view this auction that's coming up
and closing this morning on Bluegrass Plains, you don't need to register, just go to our
website and click the button and have a look.
And yeah, look, we'll see how that one goes this morning, hopefully, when we get that
one on the sale.
And that's the big thing, isn't it?
You know, there seems to be the way forward and what it does do is it takes the pressure
of that moment in that time right there and then having to come up with the result, which
is sometimes people like to go away think about it, have a bit more and this online system
where there is time is giving people a real opportunity to make sure that the purchase
they make is the right one and where they're prepared to go to, they have their bank
management involved, the decisions aren't made in quick time in 40 minutes or so or within
an hour.
And that's been evident by the results and that's probably the direction that you guys
are going and feeling that way about.
Yeah, absolutely.
You know, looking at forward days to really view this thing and give it due consideration.
You know, I think this is the perfect hybrid model between a live auction situation and
an expression of interest.
You know, boys get time to take due consideration and also they get an opportunity to contact
their banks or whoever's involved and say, hey, look, you know, this thing's exceeded
where we thought, you know, can we stretch?
Yeah, well said.
Mate, we appreciate you every week.
Best of luck for next Tuesday, 4,000 head yard.
A lot of quality winners there next week and this is the start of them.
Had a good summer.
There'll be plenty of weight and there'll be lots of freshness.
Obviously, some good lines coming in next week.
Oh, for sure.
Look, some of the end look largely of end of bread yarding and, you know, some of the
cattle weight for age will be, it'll be a really classy yard of cattle.
Very exception.
Yeah.

You can go to RBVRural.com to have a look at the latest catalog.
