Triple M, it's Robby in Carly.
The WA Mac Master and Truck Show, 2026,
is happening this weekend.
This is a massive event.
All these road trades and trucks all congregate
to put on a massive show.
And we've got Chairperson Matt Lawrence with us right now
to give us the full rundown on what's going on this weekend.
Matt, how are we?
What's cracking?
Good road yet.
Going well, what's on?
What's to do before the weekend?
So tell us what this entails.
Carly, we're one of Australia's largest truck show events.
We've got, we'll have over 400 trucks coming down to the quarry farm
just south of Biford on Sunday or a one day show, 10 to 4.
Our aim is to engage the transport industry
and unite kids back with trucks and get the community involved
and raise money for cutting edge cancer research
at the Harry Perkins Institute right here in Western Australia.
Yeah, that is one of the great things
and you are raising money for the Harry Perkins Institute
of Medical Research.
Tell us a little bit about how you actually go about
raising money and where funds come from over the weekend.
Yeah, so we've got a range of different streams
that we're able to pull on to raise money.
Certainly, the public attending is huge for us
and having a roaring attendance this Sunday
will be amazing, go a long way to funds
that we can raise for the Harry Perkins.
Yeah, we've got sponsorship.
Our sponsors are huge.
I think we've got 80, we're nearly 90 sponsors now
and the support from the industry has been absolutely amazing
so that's critical to what we're doing.
This is a weekend of trucking for us.
It's a one day event for the public
but we've got a sponsor's dinner on Friday night.
Sponsors only where we've got a charity auction
that raises a heap of money for the Perkins as well.
And it's Saturday, we've got a driver celebration
so we acknowledge the drivers
and that keep Australia moving.
They get a chance to have a night for themselves
up here at the farm.
Then on Sunday, we've got the show for the public
and come out and see 400 plus big rigs, road trains,
kids, displays, activities.
We've got carnival rides for free.
We just want this to be one of Perth's cheapest day out
for the families.
So imagine the big trucks coming from all over the state
if not the country.
Do you know who's doing the biggest drive to get there?
Well, yeah, we've got into state guests coming.
So probably the convoy that the trucking life magazine
crew are doing all the way from Victoria and New South Wales
is probably the largest distance to the traffic
which is great.
We've got some international guests coming.
But we've got Dashhall Leeds coming down from North to Geraldton
and they're coming from all over the state,
Cal Goli, the Goldfields.
We've got a lot of support from the community
in regional, regional, Western Australia.
Mate, your timing's probably been pretty good here
because I can imagine in the next couple of weeks
as fuel sort of goes through the roof that some trucks
might not be able to make it across
just for the simple fact that it would be too expensive.
So has that had an effect on anyone who can make it so far?
Yeah, we've had a few people pull out for that very reason.
It's sort of doubled the cost of them coming across
and they've made an economic decision,
which is fair enough, but locally we're hoping,
well, we've got 400 trucks registered.
We will have by this weekend and we're excited
to put on a great show for the community.
Mate, what's the biggest truck you've got there?
Well, it would be one of these.
I'm looking at this right now.
First trucks rolled up.
It's a 60-meter new-haul quad,
what they call an ultra-croad quad road train.
So four trailers, it's got a Volvo Prime Move Runder
and that'll be one of the biggest trucks we'll have here.
What sort of stuff's that hauling?
It's Inault, that one, and yeah,
most of the super quads are on Inault.
I wouldn't like to try and reverse park that,
that's for sure.
If you're here before Sunday,
you can come out and we'll get you
and you can chance and gears and we'll reverse a couple of
12 hours.
Challenge accepted for coming.
No one wants that.
I grind people's gears enough.
Oh, good on you, Matty.
It's going to be a massive weekend.
Can't wait to hear how everything goes for you.
If you want more details,
they want to get along.
What's the best way to get the info?
Yeah, jump onto our website,
www.maxmaster.com.au
or on socials, Facebook and Instagram.
There's a bunch of content that will be coming out.
And so, yeah, give us a follow and see what we're up to
and we'll be posting helps so stay tuned.
Beautiful, TicketipMegaTicks,
macmaster.com.au, Matt Lawrence,
their chairperson of the WA MacMaster and Truckshow.
Thank you very much, bud.
Thanks guys, see you there.
