Losing a bunch of non-conference games that are kind of non-typical for those programs

Is are they down or was that just a fluke? Is the league down or is that just a flu

Is state really that much better than everybody else in the SEC aside from Texas maybe

State 14 and two and everybody's got them right there at the top and of all the rankings

So what's the difference? I mean Ole Miss has played a pretty good schedule too

They absolutely are one of the best 25 teams in the country if you're doing a 25 poll now again side note

There's no real reason to do that

Because 60 some 68 teams whatever it is going to get into the

The baseball tournament at the end of the year

So don't go out here and make your own 25 team poll. That's a waste of time

It's all of them are it's 60 something nearly 70 teams getting in you're gonna give me a poll with 25

But just for the sake of conversation

Is Ole Miss one of the best 25 teams? Yeah, they are

Ain't no doubt about it. There's no doubt they are and they'll prove it at some point but

Big opportunity for them because it's true road game

Southern Misses RPI this year is going to be really good and

And it already is really good

They've got them ranked highly and Ole Miss going in there after Southern Miss already beat state and they can make a statement

And I thought huh and it caught my attention. It is

He's a nice guy. I talked to him back whenever he sent me this book

back in the day

There was a note in it from him and it this I thought this was interesting on the back of the note

uh from Chris Warner it said

To do something nice for someone in your family

Three do something to help a school in your community

For do something nice for someone who helps others like teachers law enforcement

Fire military service people

Five encourage and support those who create music art short stories and who make the world a better place in any creative way

That was great five points on random acts of kindness

It's not facts that were in this book uh grumpy

It's random quotes

compiled and arranged

per SEC school now this would have been done

back in

Okay, so it was prior to Texas saying em and Missouri coming into the SEC back when you had a measly old 12 teams in the SEC

Kind of like the original well not the original cuz swanian in this

But pretty much the original SEC teams and so it's as you flip through the book

It's alphabetical order and you start out with like you know

Alabama and Arkansas and Auburn and you work your way through so it's it's

sectioned by school then

You'll have quotes from former coaches

players media people he might say anything about them and

And in the case of state yesterday. It was it had some John Grisham quotes and

I've lost the place by now. I apologize for that. I'll see if I can find it later, but you know

I had a couple of those

John Grisham quotes that were in there about Mississippi State baseball and duty noble field and I read those in the show

And when Winslow called in he said well my favorite one was when you know John Grisham said this

And he quoted him and after the show I flipped over and I found in the book

That quote that Winslow was referencing from John Grisham. So it was in there too

Anyway, there's neat stuff that I do think it's

It'd be a neat little thing to have in your backpack like on a trip

And if you had to sit around or kill some time maybe read them on the beach or

You know in the airport flip through and read some of those quotes. I found it pretty interesting

Then the other book that I referenced I think that's the one you were talking about grumpy the other book that I did reference

I still didn't bring it into the studio. I've got it around here somewhere was the volume two of the mic leech

First of all

They're playing in Houston, Texas

And it was basically a home game for team Mexico. I don't know if you realize that

USA jumps up five to nothing here comes

Mexico storming back late

Had the tying run at the plate couldn't get it done and USA wins five to three, you know schemes pitched

He was phenomenal and the shortstop for team USA

It was web gym after web gym and these guys were playing their guts out playing hard

Bad wanted to win it was awesome

The world baseball classic. I loved it

It's a great game last night

USA plays again tonight they play Italy. Did you know Italy played baseball

I got a team now we discovered this yesterday, you know, it doesn't have to be

People on one of these WBC teams like in that country right now could be people who's even it's just like their parents are from there or something

We saw that with great Britain dog tired called us yesterday and brought that up. I'm just telling you it was

It was an incredible baseball game

It was very very very world series ask

I'm just telling you that's the truth. It's way it felt USA three and O playing again tonight

Against Italy and I guess what you if they win the night they absolutely stamp

Their spot for the weekend, right

Which would be quarterfinals beginning on Friday now. I'm just telling you if you're sports fan

I was telling this story, you know, but I think it was two

Cycles ago world baseball classic not the most recent one in 23

But I think the one before that is the first time I caught some of it and it was one of those deals where I woke up one morning

It like four and I go and I was sitting in front of the TV and I flipped through and boom

There's this game and at that time it was like Korea

Hosting, you know, maybe Japan or something like that

It was and and it was over there

You know, it was like a home game for the Korean team at that time and the atmosphere was phenomenal

The game was great and it totally pulled me in. I've kind of been in on it ever since and I I don't know how you felt about it

You know, I was talking to my dad throughout the game last night because I told him he needed to watch and then we got into it

Talking about it and it was world series level intensity on the field and in that stadium last night in Houston no doubt

Well, I'm just going to be honest. I like it a lot better than the world series. I mean the you know look look at the United States team go through that line

Oh, I know. Yeah, they can walk to a world series championship. Yeah

I mean, just look at the lineup, you know skiing last night pitching. He was unhittable. He was unhittable totally came out

Yeah, he was just unhittable. So go look at go look at our lineup and our roster. Yeah, that team could

Cruise to a world series. Let me ask you this. Let me ask you this

Have you ever seen two not one but two better plays in one game by any shortstop than what Bobby with had last night

I mean I thought the first one he made I was like that's one of the greatest plays I've ever seen

And then he did it again. Yeah, he did he did it again

I was like oh my god. I know. Yeah, it's

It's intense and I didn't realize really till last night what a great guy Paul skiing did. Yeah

Air Force baseball team pay for their trip and their ticket. He's just I didn't realize I didn't know much about him personally

Yeah, I'm real impressed with that young man. Hey, and did you see the thing where he goes out to warm up to the top gun music theme song?

In Houston, Texas. It was a great atmosphere. They were intense the broadcast last night on Fox was totally focused on baseball

Wasn't you know a bunch of the you know BS that you get on a lot of the other broadcast

It was just really good. Okay, and so my dad goes you know

He's talking about major league baseball stuff and now I've lost he says now lost track

You know governing college athletics right now. It's pretty much every man for himself

I guess this would go back to the end of last week when president trump had the round table that room full of people

From all walks of life Tiger Woods was there and a whole big thing. I saw some

some of the comments and things there

Lawmakers did most of the talking as you might expect

You know what clips I saw from it

The thing that I liked was okay, but at least you have some people recognizing that

Things are a little bit crazy. You got to put some sort of

I don't know structure around if you're going to have a league or whatever it seemed to me

That and and if they want it. Okay, now this

Said SEC presidents and chancellors are meeting this week in Nashville with the hopes of starting to establish some real

rules and guidance for the league

Assuming that Congress cannot establish federal legislation quickly enough on

N-I-L

It says they aren't expected to make any monumental decisions

But would like to get a framework started before the SEC holds its annual spring meetings in destined Florida

And then the final note here in her report says they meaning presidents and chancellors are fed up with the status quo

Now how about that? What do you think about that? There's a lot there. It's just one paragraph and a report from heather dynich

We're talking mark Keenum who you know

Mark dr. Keenum is important. He chairs a lot of the things and and chairs the college football

stuff and all that

And uh, he's kind of speaking for the group here

But all of your presidents and chancellors from the SEC are going to meet this week in Nashville

You got the SEC men's basketball tournament starting tomorrow

State and Ole Miss both play tomorrow by the way and it'll go all the way through the weekend. So they're gonna meet this week

They want to establish some rules and guidance

For the SEC

Now again here in this report it says assuming Congress cannot establish federal legislation quickly enough on N-I-L

But I guarantee you it's not just N-I-L. I guarantee you that

Just take just take it as fact that that N-I-L as you believe it to be quote-unquote name image and likeness money

And we're talking pay for play that ain't the only issue

You know, it's just as big an issue is the transfer

prominence that you have right now

And this goes for you know anyone with any interest you could be a diehard fan you could simply be a

How would you feel if the SEC were to just break off and go do their own thing

They have had loads great players over the years. I think Darius A-Cuff is the most exciting and talented hog
