A worker named Kate Ruffley strapped the baby face down on a bean bag to sleep, leading to her death from a spixiation. Ruffley got 14 years in prison for manslaughter last year. Now the couple is pushing hard for three big changes, mandatory CCTV in all nurseries, clearer safe sleep rules, and tougher offset inspections. They point to a string of recent horrors, like a nursery worker in London, jailed 18 years for sexually abusing kids over seven years, another in. Bristol getting 30 years for raping toddlers, and a Dudley nursery, admitting manslaughter over a 14-month-old boy who died face down on a cushion, just like Genevieve. The Mehan's, both lawyers from Greater Manchester, traveled to London to meet early education minister Olivia Bailey. They shared their heartbreak, saying no child should ever die in a nursery and it's destroying their lives.

Bailey praised their courage and said the government is on it, reviewing CCTV rules, tweaking offset processes, and updating sleep policies to keep kids safe.
