Carlos Beltran, the former New York Met's outfielder, earned a spot in the baseball

Hall of Fame earlier this year.

The Met's are now planning a special tribute by retiring his number 15 jersey during a dedicated

ceremony this season.

Originally, the team intended to induct Beltran into their own Hall of Fame alongside Lee

Mazzilli and Bobby Valentine on May 30th.

But they shifted gears for this standalone event to spotlight his impact.

Beltran played for the Met's from 2005 to 2011, where he delivered some of the franchises

standout performances.

Fans and the organization see him as a key figure from that era.

His overall career highlights include nine All-Star selections, two Silver Slugger Awards,

and three Gold Glove honors.
