The New York Met's made a big splash by trading prospects, jet Williams and Brandon Sprote

to the Milwaukee Brewers for Ace Freddie Peralta.

This move marks a shift for President David Sterns, who named the two-time All-Star as the

team's opening day starter right away.

Sterns has long-favorite, affordable mid-tier starters over big free agent names, with mixed

results like strong seasons from Sean Manaya and Clay, homes alongside flops from others.

But after building rotation depth and suffering a late 2025 collapse due to pitching woes,

the Met's needed a reliable top line.

Being ahead, Peralta wants a 7, or 8-year extension, which could test Sterns' comfort zone.
