Michael breaks up box office record.
Welcome to your IGN daily update.
But first, the success of Resident Evil Requiem means Capcom is raising its earnings forecast
for the year.
In a newly released financial statement, the Resident Evil publisher said that Requiem's
huge sales, which is now up to 7 million copies in climbing, had contributed to, quote,
net sales, operating profit, ordinary profit, and net profit, that all outperformed our
previously announced forecast.
Capcom also said it had seen unexpected growth in sales of older titles, which it also
contributed to its outsized sales performance.
The past year is notably seeing Capcom supporting Monster Hunter Wilds and Street Fighter
6 with further content.
The company now expects net sales of 195.3 billion yen, or around $1.2 billion US.
Up around 3% from its previous forecast for the 12 months ending March 31, 2026.
It also now expects net profit of $54.5 billion, or around $320 million US, up 6.9% from its
previous forecast.
Requiem has been breaking sales records for the franchise since its release, when it
shifted to stunning 5 million copies in just 5 days, making it the fastest selling Resident
Evil game in the whole franchise.
And between two friends with Zach Gallifinakis made waves in the 2010s for its awkward interviews
with celebrities, and clips of its surreal, satirical talk show improv still do the rounds
on the internet.
The hangover star would ask the likes of Brad Pitt, and even former US President Barack
Obama insults dressed up as questions that would often get both interviewer and interview
we laughing uncontrollably.
But after a 10 year run, between two friends came to an end in 2019, with between two
friends the movie.
Since then, nothing.
So would Gallifinakis consider restarting between two friends for a new era, based on
comments he gave recently while promoting his new Netflix series This Is a Gardening
Show?
It's unlikely.
Speaking on the Rich Eyes and Show, Gallifinakis said that, tonally, between two friends wouldn't
work these days because we're quote, living in meaner times.
Gallifinakis went on to explain that between two friends was not a show about pranking
its guests.
Indeed, they were often in on the joke, although it wasn't until the bloopers were released
that the cat was officially out the bag.
In 2016, Gallifinakis admitted that between two friends had quote, run its course a bit.
This is not the future we were promised.
Like hell that out for a tagline for the show.
From the BBC, this is The Interface, the show that explores how tech is rewiring your
week and your world.
This isn't about quarterly earnings or about tech reviews.
It's about what technology is actually doing to your work and your politics, your everyday
life.
And all the bizarre ways people are using the internet.

Michael made a huge $217 million at the global box office, enough to secure the record
for the biggest opening weekend ever for a biopic.
It's ahead of the previous biopic record holder Oppenheimer, which debuted to $174 million
in 2023.
97 million came from North American theaters, while 120.4 million came internationally.
Michael is behind only the Super Mario Galaxy movie in terms of global box office debuts
this year.
According to a variety, Michael cost nearly $200 million to produce.
This includes reshoots for the third act, totaling around $15 million.
But based on this start, Michael will easily turn a profit during its theatrical run.
Michael's box office success comes despite accusations of whitewashing.
The movie ends in 1988 during the bad tour, and does not feature Michael Jackson's high
profile child abuse allegations.
Earlier this week, Coleman Domingo, who plays Michael Jackson's father, Joe, suggested
a sequel could deal with the allegations.
Michael launched a poor review scores from critics too, but a 4.8 out of 5 audience rating
on Rotten Tomatoes.
IGN's Michael review returned a 3 out of 10.
We said, Michael does the impossible.
It makes the king of pop boring.
Meanwhile, the Super Mario Galaxy movie added another $36.7 million internationally this
weekend after finally launching in Japan.
Nationally, the Nintendo movie is now on $445 million, which is just below the first
film at the same point.
Globally, it's now on $831.5 million, and looks set to eventually cross the $1 billion
mark.
Project Hal Mary is showing remarkable staying power at theaters, adding another $12.2 million
on its sixth weekend.
The extended box office came after Amazon announced a return to iMac's theaters for the Ryan
Gosling sci-fi movie.
Co-director Christopher Miller announced last week that Project Hal Mary won't hit streaming
platforms anytime soon.
Globally, it's on $613.3 million.
