Michigan Basketball's New Frontcourt: Estrella, Thiam, Reed

On April 28th, Michigan basketball just beefed up its front court with three key transfers

for the 2026-27 roster.

They signed JP Estrella from Tennessee, Jalen Reed from LSU, and Mustafa Tiam from Cincinnati.

These guys bring serious size and skills to replace the production lost from last year's

national championship squad.

After dominating with the best front court in the country, the Wolverines had to rebuild

big time.

As like Gaxalindabourk, Mora's Johnson Jr., and Ademira bounced, all eyed as first-round

NBA picks.

Coach Dusty May targeted players with winning experience to fill those massive shoes.

Estrella, a 6'11 forward, averaged 10 points and 5'4 rebounds per game off the bench

for Tennessee.

He showed out against Michigan in the final four, grabbing seven boards.

Tiam, a 7'2 center, earned all big 12 honorable mention at Cincinnati, with 12.8 points, 7.1

rebounds, and 50 blocks.

Reed adds grit, despite back-to-back injuries, an ACL tear, and a killi's issue, with

he flashed 11 points and 6 rebounds early last season at LSU.

Together, this trio should log most minutes up front, mixing with freshman Quinn Costello

and vet Oscar Goodman.

Expect them to bring toughness and rim protection right away, setting Michigan up to compete

deep into March Madness once more.
