Miliband Open to Decoupling Electricity Prices

The push comes from a proposal by Ecotie Coon, Dale Vince, who argues the current system uses marginal cost pricing. That means gas, often the priciest source, sets the wholesale rate for all electricity, even from cheaper renewables. Several Labour MPs voiced strong support, with one saying it could save families hundreds of pounds a year. The Green Party leader made a similar call last week, while the Chancellor noted gas prices are already down a third from four years ago, thanks to, less importing. Vince's report estimates that Link added 43 billion pounds to UK energy bills in 2023, or about 367 pounds per household.
