Cleveland Guardians ramp up excitement for the MLB Draft, with Roch Cholowsky emerging as the consensus top pick. Will the team’s new strategies and focus on dynamic prospects like Gridlinger and Aiden Robbins continue to elevate their farm system? Jeff Ellis breaks down the latest Locked On Guardians mock draft, spotlighting potential selections, sleeper candidates, and the shifting landscape created by draft lotteries and bloodline talent.
Key discussion points include Cleveland’s organizational needs at shortstop and outfield, the rise of two-way prospect Jared Gridlinger, and the impact of new analytics on draft priorities. With names like Grady Emerson, Drew Burress, and Aiden Robbins rising, Ellis analyzes how the Guardians could reshape their roster and compete for long-term success. MLB draft trends, prospect performance data, and high-leverage picks for rivals like the White Sox and Royals add depth to the conversation. Can the Guardians convert this draft momentum into a winning strategy?

There is a rock, a fluke, and a LeBron though.
One today is Lockdown Guardians.
You are Lockdown Guardians.
You're daily podcast on the Cleveland Guardians, part of the Lockdown Podcast Network, your
team every day.
Hello, I am Jeff Ellis of Lockdown Guardians, proud part of the Lockdown Podcasting Network,
now the number one sports podcasting network.
What is Lockdown Guardians?
Well, if you're new to the show, and I'm explaining it to you, thank you for joining us
today for this special mock edition.
We always get some new viewers or people who may be on Guardians fans because it is
more wide-ranging.
Lockdown Guardians is the only daily Guardians podcast that has you covered from the majors
to the minors to the draft and everything in between.
I want to thank you for making today's episode your first listen today and every day where
I produce you get podcasts.
Who am I?
Why am I qualified to do this?
Well, I'm Jeff Ellis.
I've been here since Lockdown expanded into baseball.
I believe eight years ago, years blend together as you get older.
Before that, I was a national writer at Scouting247 focused on prospects and the draft.
I left it up to listeners and the vote was overwhelmingly to do the mock.
So we are going to dive in on today's episode first part of the show.
We're going to go through 10 picks for those who have never experienced one on a mock.
I always do a pick and a sleeper for that pick based on who is still on the board.
We're going to do first section, first 10 picks, second section, next 10 picks, including
the Guardians 19th overall pick.
And then we'll have for our third part of the show picks 21 to 30 with, again, the Guardians
picking 29th.
So sorry, Dodgers fans, you know, sorry Yankees fans, sorry Phillies and Lou Jays fans.
I wrote them out, but we just don't have time to get to all of them as we get closer to
the draft.
There'll be more opportunities.
But if you are not a Guardians fan, thank you for joining us today on the show.
I think I said, you know, shout out and thank you to each and one of our every dayers,
all of our insiders, everyone out there who is taking part and helping our show grow.
We are pushing for 6,000.
So if you're on subscribe, consider doing us a favor and clicking on the subscribe button.
Before we dive in, one last thing I'm very excited to say that today's episode is brought
to you by MLB the show 26 visit MLB the show backslash locked on and use the code locked
on to unlock a pack to use in diamond dynasty.
They tuned later in the episode for MLB top 100 highlight.
So I already redeemed my pack.
I went and did that myself if you're a fan of the show, why wouldn't you?
It helps us out.
It helps you out.
Go check that out.
So I have this listed.
I will try to maybe put the bottom of the show notes.
I'll figure out a way to make it work when my cat isn't trying to ruin the podcast.
But we will have all of this provided.
So if you're like, I wish there's a list, I'll provide a list, like I said, look in the
show notes.
I will put it at the very bottom.
I'll bury it there for those who want to see it.
But without further ado, let's dive in.
So the Chicago White Sox, kind of an interesting thing.
I was thinking about the other day with the Chicago White Sox picking first overall.
The last two drafts, the Washington National Chicago White Sox have had the first overall
pick.
What's interesting about it is the year before that both those teams were stuck.
They were teams that had their pick locked at 10 and then the next year that won the
lottery.
If you are a Rocky's fan, hey, good news.
Next year you'll win the lottery and get Dex Whitney, that's what it's looking like.
But that's how it's been the last two years.
I was thinking about that.
That's how it is shaped up.
That's how it is gone.
It's kind of interesting.
It's been the lottery is added to me a lot of excitement.
It's interesting.
Watch.
It's fun to follow.
Let me know your thoughts on the lotto below.
But without further ado, it's Rock Chalosky.
He was, if you go back, you can go to my site where I do my free writing, m-o-b-draft.
Now.blogspot.com, I know, very fancy.
But he was my highest rated player.
Now, I only had him 28th, but that was still higher than a lot of other places that I'm
in the 40s or later in the draft three years ago.
He was my highest rated player who did not make it to a team, made it to the college campus,
college setting.
And I wrote then that his floor was the utility guy.
He ran better than now.
He's got more power.
He's a no-dot shortstop, like a potential plus hit, plus power.
I was going through some of his hard hit data today, and I don't want to say it gave me
pause, but definitely made me go like, he has kind of in that group of like Adley Rushman,
which was a player.
I really loved.
But kind of like that level, I don't know if I'm, you know, I don't know if anyone's
hit the level of Straussburg when he came out.
Now, you know, Rock Chalowski, I had him at a coming year, 24% chase, right?
That's, you know, it's not high.
It's not, it's kind of closer to average.
His contact rate at 80, 7.1% is like high end of average, and his exit velocity, 1065,
solid, high end of average.
None of those stand out.
He is just kind of solid across the board.
I still believe in the overall talent and the ability.
He's going to be the number one player on my board.
I don't know if I'm going to throw the generational label on him.
And that's why the sleeper here is Justin LeBron, shortstopped from Alabama.
LeBron does not have the contact skills of Rock, but LeBron has speed for days.
One could really compare these two if you want to go back to something I got wrong.
Many years ago was Bobby Whitt versus CJ Abrams.
LeBron's more Abrams because they both had all the speed and were probably better overall
athletes.
Bobby Whitt, Rock Chalowski, more solid players grew up in and around the game.
You know, fathers who played at high levels, not necessarily take away anything from any
of these guys.
But you know, LeBron is going to be probably the number two player on my board, because
I value the surety of college.
But he is something I've talked about because he's got maybe even power less hit, a lot
more speed.
Let's be fair, a lot more speed there.
But we know the important things.
That's why Rock Chalowski is one, two Tampa, they tend to go prep of late.
They have gone with multiple prep players last few years with their picks since the has
not worked with Taylor, Britain Taylor a few years ago.
They have leaned the other way with one of the many prep short stops a year ago.
I'm getting them confused in my head.
I want to say it was Daniel Pierce to them.
The year before that it was Theo Gillen.
So I have Grady Emerson here, one of the safer prep players we've seen in recent years,
hits the ball to all field, shortstop and fourth worth Christian high school in Texas,
committed to Texas.
He has been the front runner for top prep player for a while.
A lot of people have number two on their board.
I totally understand and get that does a bit of everything.
He kind of has the Rock Chalowski starter kit.
So that makes sense.
Sleeper.
Justin LeBron, because again, short stops.
They always send a rise.
Something I've said for years is they are the quarterback of the MLB draft.
So Justin LeBron here is just one of the best players on the board makes sense for him
to be the sleeper.
Minnesota twins.
You can probably predict who this is going to be and I have them taking Justin LeBron.
They tend to go with college players overall.
It's been their profile of the middle talent and it's probably just a mix of top player
on the board, along with athletic skills and traits.
If you're going to go sleeper, if they want to go with the prep, prep ranks, that's
surprisingly hard to say, Jacob Lombard, the short stop from Gover Prep in Florida,
who's come into the University of Miami.
Was my sleeper here if they decided you want to go prep?
You never know.
A few years ago when the Tiger Shocked the World and took Max Clark over why at length
for it.
Sometimes team see something they like, something they want and they go a different direction.
So while I think LeBron makes sense, sleepers, Jacob Lombard, yes, his brother is George
Lombard with the Yankees, whose dad has also been in around the game.
We have a lot of bloodlines in the early part of this draft.
Speeding it up, pirates at five, they have gone for sealing over the years.
They have gone for some bloodlines, they have gone for talent and sealing and they've taken
big swings.
The big swing here would go to me, but Jacob Lombard, this would be the short stop city.
This is one, two, three, four short stops in a row that have four picks.
I'm sorry, I got this wrong.
I don't want to redo the whole podcast at this point.
This is the problem with not doing double spacing, fourth pick is San Francisco Giants.
I don't have the Giants taking Jacob Lombard.
He is the sleeper with their pick.
So anyone out there who can stop typing, yes, they had a wrong for a second.
It's written right here in front of me, doesn't stop me from being unable to read.
But San Francisco Giants a year ago, they went pretty college heavy.
They were not afraid in the middle of the first round to go undersized with college when
they took Gavin Killan first year with their new front office in place.
Drew Burris is on the board.
He has put up unbelievable numbers throughout his college career.
Good contact rates, good chase rates, does everything well.
The only concern is his height.
He doesn't even expand that much.
There has been a bit of swing and miss.
I think some of the things on him are a little overblown.
The height could scare people off, but I think his level of production, they weren't scared
off by an undersized player a year ago.
San Francisco Giants a four last year's front office.
You see them I will say after their first year open up a bit and they can go from conservative
in year one to very not near two.
Now they've had more time to settle in.
But based on last year, Drew Burris makes a ton of sense right here with Jacob Lombard
as the sleeper.
Now back to the pirates, Jacob Lombard here.
So four of the first five picks are short stops.
And again, he's got bloodlines, he's had unbelievable production, lots of great tools and
traits, gives them another high site healing talent in their system.
Sleeper Jackson, Flora, right hand pitcher from UC Santa Barbara, I feel like a separate
himself from the pack.
If they want a guy who's going to move a little bit quicker, who, you know, they're focused
on trying to get in the post season, probably not going to help you this year because the
college pitcher has already pitched so many innings.
You don't want to risk it, but a guy who could move relatively quickly, fantastic, fantastic
mix of stuff and ceiling and just overall performance.
That's why I have him going number six to the Kansas City Royals for all the reasons
stated there with the sleeper being Chris Hackepian, the shortstop from Texas A&M.
He has some of the best swing and battle ball data from last season in this entire class.
That's why Hackepian is the sleeper for Kansas City.
They have gone with more college players, the past few drafts.
They have had some prep players, but it's another player that could help them.
The other are going to have Chris Boobage likely leaving at the end of this year.
They're going to continue to want to have some waves of pitching.
Floor is arguably also the number one player on the board at this point in draft.
Baltimore Orioles at seven.
I'll come back from the break and tell you who the Baltimore Orioles are taking at seven.
We'll speed up through the teens.
We will get through all 30.
I promise you that.
Come back to hear about the Orioles and many other picks all on today's Lockdown Guardians.
This week's MLB top 100 highlight is brought to you by MLB The Show 26,
the latest from the beloved video game franchise.
Each week we're highlighting the stars of MLB's top 100 player list.
The lead names you'll be controlling, building around and going head to head with in the show.
We could highlight Jose Ramirez at eight,
who was ranked eighth overall in the MLB top 100 players.
But instead, I want to take a moment, maybe at myself in trouble.
I'm going to talk about someone who didn't make it.
Someone who was rated in the one teens or one 20s on our initial list.
Let's let's cut it off.
But Kate Smith, to me, Kate Smith is the second best player on the Guardians.
Two straight years of high level performance,
the highest war of any reliever in baseball since he's been up.
I believe the lowest fit.
Maybe it's the sixth note, so I believe it's the lowest fit.
You can go watch my video on him for even more information.
Kate Smith is one of the best relievers in baseball.
Three relievers made the top 100.
Now that more Kate Smith, and that is an absolute tragedy.
Travesty.
I do want to take one more moment though and tell you a little more about MLB.
The show 26 lets you be the guy.
Let's you be the guys that we talk about every day.
The clutch moments of Breakouts season, new superstars, all of that fun.

how the slate will play out.
Then you apply your profit boost.
It instantly bump up the payout potential.
I'm going to always keep saying blue jackets right now.
Okay, they lost an overtime to Florida.
I will still take the point.
You got to be a team like Florida that might end up with the top by fake.
That's annoying, but the blue jackets.
They are currently on a hot streak.
I won't recommend it right now.
Maybe going putting some money on their odds to make the playoffs.
Connor Garland has been fantastic addition to that team.
Head to Fandall.com to get started.
That's fandall.com.
Fandall play your game.
And while I have you here, let's take a moment and talk about the every day or club.

I sat there and put a bunch of data into the discord into an excel file.

all of this stuff.
We'll go up in the discord as well as a way to talk to us every single day.
So go to lockdownpodcast.everyday or and, you know, check it out for yourself.
It is a great way to get more, get in on the action.
Have people that talk to you during the game when you're frustrated or excited.
Check out the every day or club yourself.
And then now let's get back and do it.
Baltimore Orioles, I guess, are rapid firing here to a degree.
This was a hard pick.
They leaned kind of in the past.
They're all about power, big power.
They don't care about anything else last year.
They kind of went for more contact.
Guys went for safer profiles and it makes sense because they had a lot of high picks
and did not have a lot of high success.
They had big pools and we did not see a lot of things come back from it.
They really, after all those years of badness and all those high selections,
I think for like four or five years in a row,
they were the top minor league system of baseball and they don't have much to show for it.
So I went with Eric Becker, the shortstop from Virginia.
His brother was a second-round pick, I believe, of Seattle a year ago.
Athletic family, I don't know if he's going to stay shortstop.
He's got chance there.
Just does, you know, a bit of everything feels like kind of a safer bet.
Could be a player that allows Baltimore to save a little money at seven to add some
other talent later in this draft.
I also think that in general, he's going to be a player we see rising on boards.
Virginia is interesting. It is not the old Virginia.
Now that coach is gone. They've got a new approach, they've got some new talent.
We'll talk about two guys from that program.
But I mean, that's looking at Joe Trilio's data the other day.
And while his performance this year is not like lights out, his data is really interesting.
So sleeper, if they want to go for that old power approach, cadence around,
there has been health issues there.
So we have to see at eight, the athletics, they go college heavy, they've gone hit or heavy,
they've also gone name heavy, ace Reese, what a great baseball name, right?
Third baseman, maybe Mississippi state.
I was a little bit disappointed when I looked at this data from a year ago.
Exaveelos weren't quite as high as I expected.
There was also some chase in the zone or chase out of those zone.
I should say with him.
But he's kind of playing in this area right now of the draft.
He's definitely looked better this year.
I think I'm just seeing that natural improvement as a junior.
But looking at him overall, this is about his range.
The athletics late to go with hitters.
If they're going to go with the pitcher,
Cam Fluke, coastal Carolina, especially if you can come back from his injury and kind of show
what he's got going, they could be looking at a pitcher in this range.
Jamie Arnold is who they took a year ago.
But I'm definitely thinking college what we seen.
The Braves.
And what pitcher heavy for years?
And last year was all short stops.
Do you go a short stop?
Do you go a pitcher?
I went with the pitcher.
It's often hard to find landing spots for prep arms.
I looked at this,
mock, geo-rehaust left to hand pitcher from Stoneman Douglas High School,
Florida. I committed to Miami.
You know, some people as the number one arm, I'm not sure if he's the number one arm,
but a lot of places he is the first guy off the board.
Some might say it's lazy, but we've just seen the Braves go with a lot of prep pitching arms.
Now they have not had a lot of success.
Their current pitchers have been more their college rank guys.
But at this point in the draft,
you kind of see the talent starting to even out a bit.
This next stretch is a lot of names that could move up and down,
but looking at the prep talent, looking at a natural landing spot.
Sleeper being Tyler Bell.
If they're going to go with a short stop,
the kid from Kentucky.
He's been hurt to start the year.
It was second round pick of the race two years ago.
That's pretty solid data.
Nothing spectacular, but just does a lot of things well.
Rocky's a 10, new front office.
Chris Hockopian, I have going here.
Another guy who has been hurt.
For part of this year.
When you're looking at Chris Hockopian,
looking at a guy is probably not going to say a short stop.
Maybe they're based on not sure if he's in a farm.
I'll field great data across the board.
He's been healthy.
Chance to really show this year in the SEC.
Could move up boards once he's healthy.
They're going to go for power, though.
In the past, they went for power, but it's a new front office.
Sawyer, Strong Snyder.
I'll field it from TCU.
Washington Nationals, AJ Gracia, I'll field it from Virginia.
Player of the people having the top 10 on their board.
Just a value at this point in time for, you know,
a front office that came from the Red Sox is more of a conservative front office.
In terms of drafting, sleep early in Peterson.
You go for traits, not performance.
He's been really up and down.
The Florida developmental history of for pictures has been kind of put on blast
over the years by this podcast as well as many others.
If you told me that he ends up being the best pitcher in this class,
it wouldn't shock me if he years down the line.
The Angels.
They like their small school guys outside of Christian Moore.
All of their first rounders have been more from the small school ranks.
I know someone saying, you see Santa Barbara small.
It's not a power conference team.
Neither Coastal Carolina made the World Series, not a power conference team.
So I'm looking for outside that.
And that's why I have Cam Fluke right here.
Going to the Angels chance for him to go much higher.
He's missed time with injury.
But pitcher could move quickly for a team that is struggled with developing
pitchers, really complete toolbox.
Not a lot they have to do.
Just let him move up through their system.
Sleeper Derek Curiel.
I'll feed her from LSU just because I believe he can move quickly.
He's kind of physically what he's going to be and you go from there.
St. Louis Cardinals at 13.
I have them taking left handed pitcher Cameron Johnson from Oklahoma.
One of my other top rated players for a few years ago.
This is a little bit of a surprise.
He's not as high on other boards.
Left you with his velocity is always going to move.
I just think he is a player who has had good stuff,
has not had the opportunities, has noise, you know,
just as a pitcher.
Sometimes it takes a little bit longer, especially in your lefty.
Has some similarities with Joe Doyle, Liam Doyle.
Joe Doyle is the great baseball writer.
Liam Doyle, the right hand pitcher they took, you know,
he had making missing the zone, things like that.
I have Von Lacky as a sleeper here.
If they're looking kind of a safer bat,
which has sometimes been something they have done as well.
But if they're looking pitcher,
Kim Johnson kind of stood out to me.
Miami Marlins.
First draft, they took two prep players
at both men and disappointment.
And then they went heavy on college players last year.
They were very heavy on college players.
So looking at the board,
their entire draft last year was college players.
That's a matter of fact.
I went to sort of Sean Snyder here
because I do think they need to find ways to add power
to their system.
There's a lot of swing and miss there.
There's a lot of chase.
I didn't love this pick,
but this is kind of the point in the draft,
where things get a little spread out.
If they want a little bit safer,
Von Lacky from Georgia is right there.
Oh boy.
We are going to come back from the next break.
I promise you, keep moving.
We'll finally get to a Cardian's pick
as well as multiple organizations.
This has been a long one.
We have a bunch of time at the end, though,
to extend an add-on.
So don't worry, you'll get there.
On today's Lockdown Guardians.
This is Jeff Carr from Lockdown Reds,
and you know, I've reached the point in my life

We've got the house.

Here we go.
Let's dive back into this thing.
So it's my little slow.
I'm given too much information is my takeaway.
So let's start going through.
Don't need to repeat myself.
Arizona Diamondbacks Tyler spends Spangler shortstop.
They saw high school.
California committed Stanford.
They love prep talent.
They love short stops.
They've taken a lot of private short stops.
Here's another one.
He's it's the right place in the board for him.
He's kind of a shortstop in the teens.
There's really kind of it feels like a bit of a drop off
and prep headers after him.
I don't know if I'm going to say after him.
There's one more guy, the sleeper Eric Brith Jr.
outbuilder from Oak Grove High School
and Mississippi who's committed to Vanderbilt
is also but after those two, there's a drop
and he's kind of the last of the short stops.
Speaking of Eric Brith Jr.
I have him going to the Rangers.
He has more of a speed defense guy
but you start to add some powders game.
It makes me really interesting.
Could be a helium candidate.
Someone who's going to rise.
When I was running about him
summer fall.
It was more about his speed and his head tool
but we're seeing power as well.
He's just naturally maturing,
growing and it's some really positive traits.
He could go a lot higher than this.
If they want to go college,
I have writer Helfrick,
the catcher for markets off.
I just think he makes sense with a Rangers approach.
You know, they took him out a few more years ago.
He struggled a bit.
They can always use more catching in the system.
Houston Astros.
The last time this team took a first round picture
was 2017, which AB Bukowskis.
So I went for hitters.
They have a history of going for power as well.
Going for famous names.
Going for players who
could good tools and traits.
So,
Keaton Sarell,
I'll feed her for TM used to it out to me at this point.
Fits that kind of power approach,
good traits approach,
some bloodlines positive,
things like that that teams are looking for.
If you want to sleeper,
Keaton, Bog and Pull,
I'll feed her from Missouri State.
Yeah, he is going to miss in the zone like crazy.
He's got a lot of Jace Lavalette in him.
It's going to be a high K-rate.
He's been great, but you know,
he's only faced one real team this year.
So the data has been great for Bog and Pull.
But it feels a little too high for him.
Looking at the reds.
They have taken some prep talent,
but they've definitely leaned more into the college ranks.
I have Liam Peterson on the board.
They are a team that is, you know,
always can use more pitching as every team can.
I mean, that's kind of a statement for everyone.
But Liam Peterson is the last of his tier.
I know there are people who think that he has the best
pure stuff of maybe any pitcher in this class.
And with him being available,
I think he makes a lot of sense just because
you're seeing again a thinning out of talent right now.
To me, at this point in the draft,
Blake Bowen, the outfielder from Jace Air High School
in California and come into Oregon State,
is the sleeper.
He chases.
He's got all the traits,
but he does expand the zone and that is an area for concern.
Cleveland Guardians.
I went off board here a bit.
I took put in Jared Gridlinger,
outfielder slash left-handed pitcher
from Huntington Beach High School of California,
currently uncommitted because he was a top five candidate
for next year's draft, 2027.
His brother was in last year's draft,
and he's now a catcher at Tennessee.
And he's probably a pitcher,
six foot three kid, left-handed pitcher,
you know, great athlete, smoothies,
your delivery, fast wall slider change,
all look like they could be above average pitches.
Just, you know, that type of pitcher we know Cleveland likes.
Now it's been a while since Cleveland
took a prep pitcher with their first selection.
You know, Daniel Spino and then before Daniel Spino,
it was Dan Dunham.
I still say Brady Aiken doesn't count.
So the other thing about Gridlinger,
Gridlinger is he's also really an outfielder.
He's kind of their old-school approach outfielder.
Like he has some of the most crazy data in terms of like,
just never missing in the zone, not missing,
like hitting everything, six foot three kid,
good exit bellows, good power potential,
really good contact rates.
He's probably, in my opinion, the best two-way prospect
in this draft class.
I have no problem with the team putting,
sending Matt as an outfielder or a pitcher.
I don't think anyone's ever going to do both.
Again, Otani is a unicorn.
But like, this is the guy who either approach, I think works.
I think he's going to rise.
He's also fits all the age models
because he should have been in next year's class.
So that's why I have Jared Gridlinger here.
Tyler Bell, short sap Kentucky,
they've started draft a few draft eligible sophomores.
It's just a value.
And if he comes out and plays very well
after missing time earlier in the year,
playing well in the SEC, he's going to rise.
And we talked about,
their system is really low on true short stops.
Like, that is just an organizational need.
It's an organizational need meets a value player.
And I just, I couldn't give them right hand a bet
at this point of the draft
because it's been, like, I think Clint Frazier
is the last time they took one this high.
Let's keep going.
Boston Reds X-20.
I have Von Lacky, catcher, Georgia Tech,
safe player.
Boston tends to draft safer types.
He's got actually pretty good exit bellows.
Maybe some work with his swing
and I'll help him turn into, like,
a, I want to say, a five-doll talent,
but as close as you get with a catcher,
there are some swing and miss.
There are a few other minor concerns.
He has a five true five-doll talent.
He'd be, you know, top three player in the sport.
But, you know, he runs exceptionally well.
He's a great athlete.
He's, a lot of people will talk about how he's hit over power,
but I think that's because of his swing.
I think with some work on his swing,
he, you know, could be at least league average hit
and league average power.
21 San Diego Padres.
They like to go for big pictures.
Sometimes they keep them.
Sometimes they trade them.
Prep ranks, Carson Bowman,
left-and-a-pitcher from Southside Christian High School
in South Carolina, committed to Wake Forest.
I think he's the best prep pitcher in this class.
6'4", not quite the giants they are used to drafting.
I looked at, I believe it's Jackson.
Hershorm, who's 6'7",
but I decided to go with just who is the, you know,
I think would be on most four.
It's the top left-and-a-pitcher
and just top prep arm with Bowman.
Sleeper, if they want to go for a bat,
like Bowen, who I already talked about,
very toolsy kid.
I will say, the Padres like to draft California kids,
but then again, so do many teams.
Detroit Tigers at 22 here.
Rocco, Manalesco,
Shortstop, Oxford High School,
and Alabama, committed to Mississippi State.
Another reclassifier, one of the youngest players in this class.
Some people have them as among the top 20 players in the class.
I got to spend more time before I say that for sure about him.
The Tigers love left-and-and-hitters.
Manalesco is a switch hitter,
but he's definitely better from the left side.
Not the biggest guy, but, you know, they have drafted
Bryce Reneer, Kevin McGonicle.
Last year was Yost, I believe, right?
Or was it...
I can't remember necessarily who was top of my head.
Was another shortstop, a guy who was defense first.
They have gone short stops, who are left-handed.
Manalesco, it's probably going to move second-based long-term,
but he just fits their profile.
I think everything people complain about what Cleveland does
is actually what the Tigers have been doing at Shortstop.
The past few years, sleeper Logan Schmidt,
left-and-pitcher from Good Nation High School
in California, committed to LSU.
It's just, again, the right range.
I'm pretty big on him.
I have him as one of the top three prep arms,
so it makes sense here.
Cubs, very conservative team.
Tyler Bell is still on the board.
Someone I thought could go in the top 10 earlier this year still
maybe can, if he gets hot at the right time.
Because we all know about the traits in the ability,
but him being on the board made it easy.
Helfrick as the sleeper there as well.
Seattle Mariners.
I'm going to throw a name out here.
Chris Rembert, the second-based member from Auburn.
People love him.
There are people who have him top 10 on their board.
As long as he has data, it's okay.
His bad wall data is okay.
There's nothing really stands out or makes him necessarily great.
He's been really productive, though.
Mariners used to be the kings of the college.
Then they took some prep guys.
They kind of go back and forth.
I feel like they might go with someone like Rembert,
though, who could be more of a quick moving option for them,
give them someone who can help soon and later.
And then play Bowen again, sleeper.
If they want to go prep ranks,
stood out to me as the top prep player.
The Brewers like power the past few years.
Taking guys,
blanking on the Tennessee First Basement off to the top of my head.
And last year was Andrew Fisher, another Tennessee player.
But they took back about years of Tennessee First Basement.
I'm not giving the Tennessee First Basement,
but I'm going to give them writer,
Hell Freakyear, who is a good value.
You can never have too many catchers in your system.
The catcher for markets off.
Gives them a power bat.
If you're looking for power,
I've got Gavin Grachovic as a sleeper to them.
Because again, a team that likes to add power players.
Lana Braves.
I talked about they like to go with short stops and pictures.
Well,
who's going to talk a little bit about James Clark,
the shortstop from St. Bosco High School,
who's committed to Duke,
sleeper Derek Curiel.
Yes, Derek Curiel is still on my board.
Why is Derek Curiel still on my board?
I'm not sure he's going to hit for much power.
He's kind of maxed out.
And he's had a rough start to the year.
He's not performed what you want to see
for the weak part of the schedule.
So I'm kind of cooled on Curiel right now.
Because he's,
he's a guy who should hit for contact,
should move quickly.
But I'm not sure if there's going to be enough power to make him an impact guy.
That being said,
I'm going to go in the next pick to the New York Met.
Someone's going to jump on him.
You know, he's a player that some people that would be a top 15 pick at a high school.
But his slight build and a strong commitment to Ellis,
you scare people off.
But he is, you know, he's a name.
He's known.
The Met's have gone for, you know,
hit first outfielders.
It's worked out sleeper.
If they want to go for more ceilings,
Ion Rose outfielder from Louisville,
former catcher.
They could even try him out back there.
If they want to slow him down,
be interesting.
Houston Astros.
Pick it twice in the top 28.
What a world we live in.
This is the Houston Brown.
I don't know if Houston Brown pick.
That's not right.
Houston is their Hunter Brown
selection.
They get for ambition top three in the Saiyung.
I have Blake Bowen going here.
The outfielder from Jay Sarah High School,
come into Oregon State going with a
riskier high ceiling prep player.
Someone with power, sleeper Trevor Condon.
Yes, related to that one.
I'll filter from Attua High School,
committed to Tennessee.
Condon's kind of sneaking up boards.
Nothing like his older sibling.
Very different player.
So Blake Bowen is more of
if you want to go for power and risk
and condense a little more safety.
Cleveland Guardian to 29.
Sleeper Ryan Morone.
Right hand at pitcher NC State.
That's the sleeper.
His number has been really good
in the early going.
This is the player they lost out
when the situation happened with Alex Mooney.
So Morone is having a really good year.
So here is my pick.
And it's not an on the board one.
But I've Aiden Robbins
and Alfredo from Texas.
So Aiden Robbins is,
fits a lot of boxes that they've
liked in the past.
He's a kid from Pennsylvania
who spent his first two years
at Seaton Hall cold weather player.
I believe he is young
for the class as well.
I probably should have looked
that up ahead of time.
But I'll pull that going one talking.
He was great on the Cape.
If you want to look into that as well.
I also didn't realize,
apparently there's a running
back on the browns with that name.
So that's that's would be mildly
humorous for that as well.
But he was great on the Cape cold weather
player.
He said I'm pulling up his
birthday right now.
I believe he's and of course,
it's not loading just my luck.
But more importantly,
so no, he just turned in January.
He's not young for the class.
But he's fine.
He's in the average range.
Who's kind of viewed as a hit
over power guy.
But so far this year he's got six home runs
and his exit videos have always been strong.
When I pull him up,
the player he is most similar to
embedded ball data is Drew Burst.
That is the player that this guy
most resembles.
He's six foot two as opposed to
Burst's hide.
He's nowhere near the athlete.
The Burst is.
But in Robbins,
he doesn't chase too much,
which you know is important to them.
His contact rate is okay,
which is not as big video.
And he's got a 107-1 90th
percentile exit velocity.
That's good.
He has solid data across the board.
We said not dissimilar
to someone like
Drew Burst.
You know, those points kind of meet
up when I look at the overall data.
And for everyone listening,
maybe the most important thing.
Right hand a bat.
I couldn't have them going with a right hand a bat.
And 19 just because it's been so long.
Like I said, it's like Clint Frazier
after really dig to see when the last
college right handed hitter they took was.
But I get to be honest,
there's not a lot of left handed hitters
kind of just in general
in the college ranks in this first run range.
There is not a lot who stood out to me.
There's not a lot
who we're really talking about.
It is a class that there is a
dirt of that.
So at this point,
after going with,
you know,
having them
sit there and take a picture
an outkiller,
we'll see.
But coming back looking at the college
rank, seeing a guy who,
you know,
he should be better because he's called
wider.
This is his first year at a big
university.
We'll see how it goes in the SEC.
That's going to be a big thing for him.
That could cause him to raise even higher.
But the better ball data performance,
I think he had the
seventh best batting average in the country a year ago.
He's already equaled his home run total from a year ago.
He went out to the Cape,
hit for power, hit for average.
One of the best players in the Cape
played all three outfield spots.
And again, he's right handed.
So did I make you happy with that one?
Let me know in the comments below.
And Kansas City,
I am giving them Logan Schmidt,
the left-handed pitcher
from Ganesha High School,
committed to LSU.
I thought there's a chance they could go with the
prep rate.
Later come back after having given them
a hitter earlier come back
and give them the pitcher here.
Or I'm sorry,
I gave him a pitcher earlier.
Well, they're getting two pictures in this one.
I contradict myself with
when I'm looking at like,
who's the sleepers at this point?
I probably put Trevor Condon
as they have another team
that's gone with bloodlines at this point.
I've gone long.
I got to end this thing before he in trouble.
