On April 1st, Holly Dance, the 50-year-old mom of Archie Battersby and her 26-year-old son, Thomas Summers, just got convicted of grievous. Bodily harm in what prosecutors called a revenge attack. This went down at Baselden Crown Court after a jury deliberated for about two hours. It all happened back in 2022, just weeks after 12-year-old Archie died from a tragic brain injury. The trouble started when they heard this guy allegedly smash their daughter and sister over the head with a bottle. Dance and Summers chased him from South End all the way to Baselden, ramming his car first with her BMW, then Summers piling on with a Toyota after he crashed. Their friend Reese Bentley walked free on all charges. Archie's death hit the family hard he passed on August 6th after a public fight to keep his life support on, but doctors said the injuries were unsurvivable. Summers had been at the hospital daily, hoping for a response, while online trolls piled on the pain. Both denied the charges, but the jury didn't buy it.
Summers also got hit with a fray and danced for having CS spray. The victim ended up with a broken shoulder, trouble walking, and real emotional scars from this mashup. Judges warned they're looking at least five years behind bars, so this chapter is far from over as sentencing looms. Stay tuned for how it plays out.
