9-1-1, where is the emergency?
It's the middle of the night in a small town on the Jersey Shore.
Someone reports an abandoned car on a bridge.
A search gets underway for the missing driver, 19-year-old Sarah Stern.
Is it a missing person? Is it a suicide?
At this point, nobody knows.
Old friendships, buried cash, and a sinister plot that was once pitched as a movie plays out in real life.
I'm Ju-Ju Chang from 2020 and ABC Audio.
Listen now to Bridge of Lies, wherever you get your podcasts.
Tug of War, the president launches a massive strike against Iran.
We have hit hundreds of targets in Iran.
We didn't start this war, but under President Trump, we are finishing it.
That's met with celebration.
The mothership of terrorism is sinking.
And condemnation.
There was no imminent threat to the United States.
Could his promises on the campaign trail come back to haunt him?
I'm not going to start a war, I'm going to stop wars.
And as Iran's future hangs in the balance, our Americans willing to risk the price of another military operation in the Middle East.
Three U.S. military service members have been killed in action.
And sadly, they will likely be more.
Then, Maggie Gyllenhaal talks about going behind the camera for her monster epic thriller The Bride.
A special edition of View Your Deal is celebrating women's history month with the female founders of fabulous brands.
And it's a view family reunion when former co-host Elizabeth Hasselbeck returns to the table as our special guest co-host.
Here come hop topics with whooping, Sarah Haynes, Joy Beihar, and Navarro, Sunny Hauston, and Elizabeth Ayer Griffin.
Now, let's get things started.
I love the view.
It's the reason I made this song.
I love it.
I love it.
I love it.
I love it.
I love it.
I love it.
I love it.
I love it.
I love it.
I love it.
Yes.
Wow.
Thank you very much.
Happy.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
But it's only an hour show.
First of all, Happy Monday.
Happy Monday to you all.
Welcome to the view.
Please welcome back.
Yes.
And please welcome back our friend, former co-host, all-round great gal, Elizabeth Hasselbeck.
Thank you.
We're so thankful to be here with you all.
This is really a gift.
Well, we go way back.
Yes.
We go way back.
And it's a blessing to be near you anytime that I can.
Oh.
So that is great.
And you all do a great job.
And significantly so, to just have voices as women in the world right now,
forever reminded of the gift of our freedoms, particularly in light of what's going on with Iran,
just that women can be beautiful, voiced, respected, and the hope of that there is wonderfully significant,
but a reminder to us today of our blessing of being able to share our thoughts.
And listen, civil discourse is not dead.
We might have differences of opinions, but we love each other.
And we're stronger before it.
I actually think for the young people watching, it's important to see that you can have,
and we've said it before, we can hold our positions in one hand and each other's hands in the other,
and be able to just live as Americans with the freedom that we have,
and speak our hearts and minds.
And so, we get to do that all week, and we get a little spicy at times,
but we do not hate each other.
We love each other, and we have the freedom to do it.
And it is important to remind everybody that we love that.
It is that.
Yeah.
So, let's talk about what's going on, because you know who was elected twice,
but repeatedly making these promises on the campaign trail.
Take a look.
We're going to stop the reckless and costly policy of regime change.
The decades of politicians spend trillions of dollars rebuilding foreign nations, right?
Fighting foreign wars and defending foreign borders, but now we are finally protecting our nation.
They said he will start a war.
I'm not going to start a war. I'm going to stop wars.
But this weekend, well, he had other plans.
He launched a massive military strike against Iraq,
which was met with very strong reactions in DC and around the world.
Take a look.
Ayatollah.
Hamine is dead.
This wretched and vile man had the blood of hundreds,
and even thousands of Americans on his hands,
three U.S. military service members have been killed in action.
As one nation, we grieve for the true American patriots
who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.
And sadly, there will likely be more before it ends. That's the way it is.
The president has started a war of choice.
I saw no intelligence that Iran was on the verge of launching any kind of preemptive strike
against the United States of America.
It won't be the billionaire kids of Donald Trump and his buddies that die.
It's going to be the children of middle class and poor families all across this country.
We didn't start this war.
But under President Trump, we are finishing it.
It took the 47th president, a fighter who always puts America first,
to finally draw the line after 47 years of Iranian belligerence.
So I want to note that this morning, a fourth soldier was declared dead.
So our Americans are going to support another military operation
in the Middle East right now.
I mean, we've had kind of a checkered past in going into the Middle East
and not taking care of business.
So I open it up. What do you think?
I don't think they're going to support it.
If the president of the United States does not make a case and clearly explain
why we went in there and what the end game is.
And look, I'm not an Iran expert.
And I'm not going to pretend that because I spent two days watching former generals on CNN
explaining this, I understand the Middle East.
But I am a regular American.
And I can tell you my reaction.
And it was a mixed feelings because when I heard that the Ayatollah was dead,
I shared in the celebration of so many Iranians around the world,
and including in the United States.
I thought of Masa Amini, the journalist who was stopped by the morality police
and cruelly brutally killed.
I thought of Vida Rabani.
I thought of my friend, Tamil Ganyan, whose uncle was executed by the Ayatollah in 79.
And that is one part.
But I also have such anxiety.
I am furious that we are going into war yet again without congressional approval.
I am furious that the American people have not been brought into this.
I am furious that we are doing this alone.
Yes, Israel is part of it.
But you know, I look at Donald Trump and I look at Netanyahu
and I see two leaders who I think think politically they benefit from war.
Netanyahu is facing criminal charges for corruption back home.
Donald Trump is facing very low numbers and an Epstein files
that will not are not and we will not let go away.
And so, I think that's where a lot of Americans are.
That we were happy that the Ayatollah is dead.
He is brutal, brutal regime.
And let me just say one more thing.
Trump has, I think, changed since Venezuela.
I think Venezuela, I think he thought Venezuela was incredibly successful
and he's been making comparisons with what happened in Venezuela,
with what's happening in Iran.
I don't know Iran, I know Venezuela.
Madura was a pitifully little third world dictator.
Venezuela is not Iran.
Iran has terrorist cells all over the world that they can activate.
Venezuela was one and done.
They went in there, they extricated Maduro,
and that was the end of that.
This, certainly, that is not that he's already told us
it could be four or five more weeks of strikes.
We are seeing retaliation by the Iranians
that the Venezuelans didn't have the ability to do.
So, I think that he's in love with his idea of being the conqueror
and the emperor after Venezuela.
He's got this Napoleonic complex.
He thinks he's Alexander the Great.
And Venezuela is not Iran.
I mean, I respect, I still respect where you come from,
Anna, on this and your ability to like broadly think about it
and have heart in it.
I also think it's very easy to have political concussion at this point
where, and I actually had a concussion a year ago,
one of the side effects was losing depth perception
where you can't see the depth of what is going on
because you're just being constantly barrage by information
or political opinion and now war.
Understandably, the Americans are fatigued
with the idea of war.
We get that, right?
We sit here and we know the repercussions of including the death
and I do want to say our hearts are with the families of those fallen soldiers.
Your sacrifice will not be squandered.
This war will be won.
I do think it's threefold.
One, we have 47 million Iranian women who now have a hope of freedom.
That's a good thing, okay?
We have a disgusting, disgusting terrorist regime ended
and the people finally have hope to create their own nation again.
Okay, so that's the hope.
When we zoom out and do political realm, okay,
which is not my specialty either, but we have a ton of friends in the military
who specialize in this.
We see that this is actually avoiding a boots on the ground war
with China when we are able to choke their oil supply
and the President and our military are exemplary in doing so right now.
They've cut the oil supply from Venezuela and they've now reduced it
and choked the oil supply to China in Iran.
And now what that does is presumably prevent China
from having an absolute stronghold on the globe.
So this is a strategic move geopolitically that we may not fully understand,
but I absolutely trust that this is best for our nation.
We shouldn't be America.
What makes you think that the regime has ended?
Let that...
Let's...
Yeah, well, that was the leader.
The absolute Itolla is dead.
Well, but I won't remember.
The people will remember.
Indeed.
I can't remember.
Let's not do this cross-talk.
Yeah, yeah.
Right.
I was just going to say, you know, the bottom line is that this is an illegal war.
This is an unconstitutional war.
Only Congress can wage war and declare war.
And so that's the first thing.
I think we have the call of thing, I think.
So this is an illegal war.
This is a presidential war.
I will also say, I think what Anna was about to say,
did the regime really change?
No.
At this point, Donald Trump has come out and said,
I had some choices for who would lead, but they are dead now, too.
And so now you have people that are in Iran picking their own people.
So you don't have a regime change.
Just like you don't have a regime change in Venezuela.
Also, what I'll say is it's very easy to start a war, right?
Without a plan.
It's very difficult to end a war.
We've seen in Russia invading Ukraine thinking that it was going to be over.
It's five years later.
610,000 Russians are either maimed or killed.
The 1.2 million Russians maimed or killed.
We've got 600,000 Ukrainians maimed or killed.
That war is not over.
I thought this was going to be the president of peace.
I thought this president wanted to win a Nobel Peace Prize for peace.
That is not what I'm seeing.
I am not seeing America first.
I think people that voted for Trump, I was not one of them.
I think you were.
Those people wanted America first.
I've probably voted for Trump because the alternative was not great.
Yes, we would absolutely be under the wrong power.
But let me just finish.
I'm going to stop everybody because we're going to go and come back
and we can continue the conversation then.

Hey, we are back and we're talking about this weekend's US military strike on Iran.
Yeah, so so much depends on what happens next.
I mean, right now I think there's probably not a lot of popular support here in this country,
purely because it's a bit shocking.
Obviously, no one was brought in on this decision.
I do think that having the Supreme Leader killed and not in Iran is a good thing.
This is the largest state-sponsored terrorist nation that has forever fueled China, Russia, as you pointed out, Elizabeth.
And I think the protests that I've been going on for months, the thousands of Iranians who have lost their lives,
this is the largest protesting since 1979, which is a big deal.
Now, I don't know if the handing over their country is as clean as it sounds,
oftentimes when you wipe out regimes, which we don't know for sure, signing,
although 40 of the top leaders have been reported killed.
So they've definitely decapitated the country right now.
What happens next will really depend on how coordinated the people can be,
because remember, they've been suppressed for years.
The Iranian people are amazing and they deserve to live outside of this leader in this regime,
but they also have had media blackouts.
They, any dissidents, they can be killed. They'll just be killed.
How well they speak to each other when they have facial recognition they've been using to identify protesters
and then further eliminate them.
So I just don't think we know yet how long this looks or what it looks like,
but there are some benefits to this country.
If, indeed, it could go smoothly, it just remains a cautious optimism.
Well, I just think we all have to remember that,
because we don't know what's coming next.
We don't know how safe women are going to be.
We don't know. We don't know.
The key here is we don't know, because it would be great if it happened,
and it happened the way we wanted to happen, and people found that freedom,
but I'm not optimistic because, you know, when you have,
when you throw in religion and you throw in male dominance,
and sometimes when you, you know, all kinds of stuff,
you have to surf a lot of this.
And if you don't know what's going on,
all we can do is talk about what we see,
but I am cautiously watching to see who is going to end up becoming the leader,
and it is not somebody I think we need to appoint.
This is up to the Iranian people to make that decision.
We can't just drop somebody in.
Because then we're back with a shot.
We got it out, and I think we'll be emphasized at the point that,
even the President himself has said in Secretary of War,
Secretary of War, Pete Hugg said, that this is now the time for the Iranian people
to stand and do what they need to do.
And when you look at what women looked like and retreated like,
we have a before and after, before this regime, and after.
This is before, and here is after.
And right now, these women have hope.
47 million women have hope.
People who are gay are not being thrown off buildings.
Women will not be mutilated and murdered.
I think there's such hope, and it takes strength to find peace,
and America should be first at that always.
Well, you know, here's the thing, though.
I remember, and I hope you're right.
I hope you're right.
I hope for the sake of the Iranian people and for the sake of the world,
for America's sake.
I hope you're right.
But I remember 1989, when the Ayatollah Khomeini died,
and we thought, this is over, and this is going to be great.
And a bad and a worse guy came up.
Correct.
I remember seeing George W. Bush, and a U.S. aircraft carrier
with a big banner behind him that said mission accomplished,
and the mission had not been accomplished.
I remember going into war with information that wasn't true.
And so, there's a lot that Donald Trump has to say and do,
and I think it starts with Congress.
I just think that they are our elected representatives.
And he needs to give them the respect of giving them the information
and making them part of the...
At this point, this is an unconstitutional war.
It's an illegal war.
He didn't go to Congress.
He didn't go to the U.N.
He didn't go before the American people.
And that's why, at this point, 27% of Americans,
only 27% of Americans approve of these actions.
And I don't believe...
I don't have any confidence that Donald Trump has any sort of plan.
Maybe he has concepts of a plan, but he does not have any sort of plan.
What's the sort of plan?
What's the sort of plan?
The other presidents that have gone in without Congressional approval
have Biden, Obama, Clinton, George H.W. Reagan.
So, I would be more upset that Congress has ceded this power
than mad that the president didn't check with Congress.
Well, I'm mad about all of it.
I think we're quite honest.
I'm going right back.
Yeah.
Welcome back.
I'd rather talk about that, but, apparently, I can't.
So, we'll talk about this.
There seems to be a split of a Gen Z women dating emotionally laid back
so-called nonchalant boyfriends.
Apparently, some people see it as a red flag,
but a woman wrote it article in the independent claiming
she's glad she's dating one because they balance each other out.
So, the question is, where do you stand on this?
Well, I have a nonchalant husband,
but I have enough Shalant for two of us, so we're glad.
He's not an over-the-top guy, but I dated people like that,
and they were never the right match.
So, I assume the nonchalant works.
So, nonchalant means what?
They're not on social media.
They're not going to do the overtly big display of gestures.
Big grand gestures.
I can gauge you on a billboard and things like that.
Big, big, big, big arrangements.
I'm going to tell you this, guys.
Be careful with people who do, like,
professions of love on social media.
I have a friend who's on TV, in Spanish TV.
She was, you know, putting up this...
Oh, you told us.
There's great tweet on...
There's great Instagram posts on her anniversary
about what a wonderful husband she had,
how wonderful everything was, and the next week,
she found out he was cheating.
Oh.
I...
I'd rather than be quiet and loyal.
But, you know, I remember and cheating.
I remember you telling me that story.
And I have the same thing, you know,
I think there's a difference between loud love and quiet love,
and I, too, have a nonchalant husband.
Been married 27 years, and that quiet love has worked for me.
Yeah.
I don't need the grand gestures.
I can buy myself the things.
I love...
That we know.
Fair, right?
I love the setting of that character.
I think there's enough chalant set this table.
Yes.
So, the counterparts probably have to be a little more chill.
The calm does not mean cold, so...
I appreciate a calm, steadfast man, like my tomb.
Because I'm enough.
I'm enough.
I am enough.
I'm enough.
I'm...
I'm enough, Shalom.
I'm an in-man to me.
Elizabeth, since you were here last,
you published another best-selling children's book,
tell us about it, please.
Oh, my gosh.
Thank you.
It's just God's goodness that I get to write these things.
This is called God's Masterpiece.
It's an art lesson for kids.
And it's based on Ephesians 2.10 that says,
like, we are his masterpiece.
You are all his masterpieces created
with good work and purpose ahead of time for you in a world
where it kind of wants to crush the identity and value
of our kids as they get older and older.
They feel the pressing of that on them.
I just wanted to write a little reminder
and you get to learn all about the masters of art
and a mirror at the back in the book that shows you
that you are indeed got the masterpiece.
I've yet to see a child see that mirror
at the end of this book and not smile.
You love to see themselves as you by God.
So God's Masterpiece.
I love it.
I love it.
Thank you for letting me share.
You're so long now.
All of you are going home with a copy.
I'm proud of you.
Viewers at home.
You can scan the QR code on the screen
to purchase the book as well.
And we, of course, will be right back.
Yes.
Welcome back to Red dude's Director Maggie Gillingall
is breathing new life into a classic Frankenstein tale
with her latest movie The Bride.
It's an electric mix of bold, gothic thriller, punk rock, epic, and dark love story.
Take a look.
You do not want to get caught up with me.
People love a monster.
There is going to be a mob.
Really?
I'll be through this before.
Here it is, terrible.
Go.
Go.
Get out of here.
Go home.
I don't know where I live.
Go.
Please welcome, please welcome Maggie do Le Mar.
So the bride just had its world premiere in London is getting all kinds of buzz.
What made you choose the bride in this direction?
Right. Well, after the lost daughter, which I think I came on to as you guys about the lost daughter,
but that was a very tiny movie, you know, but it hit a little vein. And I think it was because
we told the absolute truth about something that people weren't really talking about.
And I was looking, I had a question in my mind, which was like, if I told the absolute truth again,
but in a big pop roller coaster of a way, what would happen? Would it hit a big vein?
Would there be like blood all over the room?
So I was looking for something big and then I went to a party and I saw a guy with the bride of Frankenstein tattooed on his entire forearm.
And I was like, I'll tell you later on those. And I was like, wait, right, right, what is that?
Who is that? And I went back and watched the movie. And the bride of Frankenstein is in the movie,
the bride of Frankenstein, for two minutes. And she doesn't say one word.
Yes, she says nothing. No, this is a lie.
Well, she wakes up and she makes it very clear that she's not happy.
Which must have been kind of a radical thing to do in 1935, still kind of a radical thing to do.
But even backstage listening to all of you guys talking, I was like, here's a group of women talking,
disagreeing with each other, having ideas about things. And I guess I relate to that.
And when I just felt this sort of woman with no voice, I thought like, all right, I want to know what she's thinking.
I want to know what's happening in there. And that's where it started.
Oh, it's so wonderful.
It's wonderful.
Yeah, it's wonderful.
Because she really, in the original, she didn't consent to be being made.
No, it's just like this one.
No one can consent in front of you.
Well, yeah, but she's asking that one of you made it.
That's right.
You know, nobody asked him. That's fascinating.
Well, Jesse Buckley's phenomenal as the bride here, Christian Bale phenomenal as the monster Frank.
You worked with Jesse and your Oscar-nominated directorial debut, The Lost Order.
Would you take him here for it?
And you worked with Christian in the dark night.
Yeah.
So what was it like to reunite with them both?
And did you have them in mind when you were writing the script?
I really tried not to have anyone in mind, but Jesse just kept coming to me.
Oh, wow.
And I was like, okay, just hold on.
I wanted to be able to imagine anything.
You know, then as soon as I was done, I was like, all right, it's got to be Jesse.
And I would have gone to every mat for that woman.
You know, she just won the Saga Ward last night.
At the time, nobody knew who she was.
But I was like, this is my woman.
When you see the movie, you will see there is nobody, but Jesse Buckley that could have done this.
But good for you, for knowing that and fighting for that.
When you just said, you know, not a lot of people knew her.
Well, that conviction.
I mean, first of all, I was an actress forever.
And the people who did that for me are the people who gave me a career.
There was no question.
When you see it, you'll see she's next level.
Yeah.
Like it's like a next kind of generation kind of work.
And then Christian.
Christian.
It's on record.
Listen.
Let me tell you this.
The movie in general is the celebration of all of the ways
and I'm looking at it at all these beautiful faces in the audience that no matter what your hair looks like,
no matter what music you listen to, the ways in which we just do not fit into the box
that everyone has told us we're supposed to fit into.
And Christian Bell.
I mean, he's like, let's crack that box open.
Let's break it open.
You know, he was the perfect Frank.
And one of the things we have to talk about are the looks.
Because these looks are instantly iconic.
I feel like there's going to be a lot of the bride looks for Halloween.
No, you don't have to wait till Halloween.
You can do it tomorrow.
Tell my lipstick what you're saying.
So we're fine.
But I mean, you were just talking about Christian and his great work.
But one of the things he had to do was sit for what, six, six and a half hours in order to get the prosthetics on.
When I hear there was a special technique he had in order to be able to sit still.
Yeah.
That long onset?
So it was six and a half hours when we had to see his whole body, which is amazing,
because his body is all sewn together.
You know, Frankenstein's body.
And it was about three and a half hours on it every day.
And so he, after sitting still that long,
would do what we called the primal scream or the monster howl.
We can do it if you want.
Yeah, what does it sound like?
Seriously.
Go ahead.
Go ahead.
Arhaha.
Let's do it!
Arhaha!
Arhaha!
Arhaha!
Where are we?
Ready?
Arhaha!
Arhaha!
Arhaha!
Arhaha!
What?
Arhaha!
Wait, the trumpet's still into the precedent.
Arhaha!
Arhaha!
I have gas!
Arhaha!
Yeah, guys.
Yeah, guys.
That's what I'm going to feel like when you walk out of the theater on Friday nights.
I have to ask.
We were talking about nonchalant relationships.
Who's a nonchalant in the relationship?
You are working. This is a family affair project.
Your husband, Peter Sarsgard, said that you may prefer his home self to his work self
because he asked the question why too many times.
First of all, is he not a nonchalant guy?
And then what was it like?
So cute.
Yeah, I know what you're talking about.
Peter, Peter is the one that everyone loves at a party, at a family reunion.
He's super nice.
He looks just like his dad.
He's kind and fun and very, very charming.
On set, he takes me to task for everything.
He's like, how many bullets would there be left in this gun?
So we need to refill it.
And every single thing he takes me to task, but I love it.
It's what makes him such a great actor.
On task network.
Yeah, I have to say this.
The brightest in theaters and I'm Max Nationwide on Friday.
And members of our studio audience are all getting a pair of tickets to experience tomorrow.
We'll be right back.
You always want the best for your family.
And that means only egg lands best eggs in your kitchen.
Compared to ordinary eggs, egg lands best eggs contain six times more vitamin D, 25% less saturated fat,
more than double the omega-3s, 10 times more vitamin E, and more than double the vitamin V12.
So why give your family less when they can have the best?
Add egg lands best superior nutrition to your next grocery list.

That means I can focus on the task at hand and make an extra sale at two.
Sometimes I do miss the bonding time.
Sometimes.

Now this product is dentist-founded.
Oralcare that you'll actually look forward to using.
I use it all the time, especially the floss.
Take a look.
I created Cocoa Lab with my sister because Oralcare doesn't have to feel like a chore.
We combine real clinical performance with joy.
Cocoa floss is made with over 500 woven fibers.
So instead of sliding past plaque, it actually grabs it and lifts it out.
It's about four times more effective than traditional flat floss.
A lot of people think that they're bad at flossing.
They're actually just using bad floss.
We design flavors inspired by travel and desserts because if it's fun,
people are more likely to stick with the habit.
And this is our toothpaste.
Cocoa shine whitening toothpaste.
It's remineralizing.
And it's amazing for sensitive teeth, coffee drinkers, and wine drinkers.
So I buy this at my dentist all the time.
You're just breathing about this.
Exactly.
I rave about it all the time.
I think it's fantastic.
And you now can get it on our website.
Half off everything.
It's really a great deal.
