The following is a conceptualization training exercise from don't move until you see it. Completely exercise using only your mental board, pause and repeat as often as you need to. In this position, white has pawns on A4, B3, F2, F4 and H2. A king on G1, rooks on B5 and D1 and a bishop on E3. Black has pawns on B7, D5, F7, G7 and H6. A king on G8, rooks on D7 and H4 and a knight on F6.
From this position, on move 1, black plays rook H5, 2, king G2, knight E4, 3, rook D4. rook D6. What is the best move for white? If you haven't quite got it yet, pause as often as you need to.
