A 21-year-old university student named Ross Simpson beat bacterial meningitis and sepsis

thanks to his mum spotting the signs early. Three years ago, while studying computing science

in Glasgow, Ross came home feeling off after a house party. He started with a headache,

then developed a stiff neck and sensitivity to light, classic symptoms his mum gained

unresponsive and needed life support. Doctors confirmed the diagnosis with a lumbar puncture,
