Nats Drop Home Opener, Lose Five Straight

The Washington Nationals kicked off the 2026 season hot, but hit a rough patch, dropping

five straight games including a sweep in there, home opener against the Los Angeles Dodgers,

who rallied for an 8-6 win Sunday, Nat Starder, Foster Griffin kept it tight through

five innings, striking out six while giving up just one earn run, and Washington built

a five run.

Lead by the middle innings thanks to Big Swings from the Whiscarcea Jr. and James Wood.

Dodger stars Shohei Otani got them on the board early with a solo homer, but the Nats

answered back strong before L.A. chipped away in the sixth, and then exploded for four

in the eighth to flip the script.

That late meltdown stung, with walks and timely hits from guys like Freddie Freeman and

Otani putting the Dodgers a hit for good, plus an insurance.

Even in the ninth off the Nats bullpen.

Now the Nats shake it off, and host the St. Louis Cardinals starting Monday, April 6th,

at 6.45 pm, looking to snap the skid right here at Nationals Park.
