New Canadians Celebrate Citizenship

30 new Canadians from 18 countries got sworn in Friday at Halifax's Maritime Museum of the Atlantic.

Among them was Ashi's mandal from India, celebrating with his five-year-old daughter Anaya,

who was dancing and waving a tiny flag full of joy while his wife Sneha watched proudly.

This ceremony kicked off during Citizenship Week, running April 12th through 18th,

a time to honor shared rights and duties.

Immigration Minister Lena Metlegi Diabh hosted it, complete with a prayer, some drumming,

and words from Citizenship, Judge Joan Mahoneyanda, 44th anniversary of Canada's Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
