Everybody, welcome to the Tuesday show. I'm Tex Hummer. That's Paul Waddlington.

And that's not Eric, because Eric's in New Mexico, skiing right now.

We're going to talk about actual impact guys. They can be transfers and they can be freshmen.

And then we're going to lead with the germane bishop that I know everyone is very excited for.

So, sources, I'm to my journalism, sources tell Inside Texas, don't be surprised if Bishop is ready to start by mid-season or later.

So all the fans just rejoice. But we saw the clips early. A lot of people loved him out of high school.

But it seems it's actually becoming more real, more than just fans sentiment, Paul.

I think the key thing for this information is that I was asked to make a bold proclamation about the offense or defense about a month ago.

And I said, germane bishop will be our.

Hold on. There we go. We're back. We're back. Here's the thing.

We're giving so many secrets and inside scoops away that they, they are trying to stop us, Connor. But they're not going to stop us.

You made a bold proclamation.

I made a bold proclamation about a month ago. Someone said, hey, make a bold proclamation about the defense or offense.

And I said, germane bishop will be starting at slot.

And it looks like I might have wished this in the reality, right? It's the Michael Sarah Giff of it's happening.

The secret, obviously, if you're familiar with him as a recruit, just a unique guy with the football in his hands.

It's not just.

People try to reduce receivers to like speed or always faster. He's good or is good hands.

It's just anticipation. It's ballerness. It's it's all the above, including a really impressive physical package.

And I think that is already something the coaches are seeing.

They're blown away by the freshman's athleticism. So that's a pretty exciting development.

It's not that other people aren't coming through. It's that germane bishop is everything that was promised and perhaps even more.

Absolutely. And I was wary, right? Because if you're anywhere near the third string, starts not playing you.

And that doesn't seem to be the case here, right? They're going to find ways. And of course, guys have been injured too, right?

So he's getting the showcase more just the clips of him running routes. He's not just running fades. He's he has good footwork, good timing anticipation.

Of course, we see here a billion times when he gets the ball. He does awesome stuff after it.

It's shocking some of the things he creates with the balls with the ball in his hands. And it's it's just fun to watch. And you always wonder, you know, he's just going to level up because you know, he's not going to be playing high school players.

But some of this stuff just translates and he's getting better, you know, this is not a guy who's leveled out.

And as he's filling out his frame, as he's getting more refinement, as he's getting faster and stronger.

He's just getting better and it's outpacing his peers. And it's exciting to see.

So I think he's a guy who can be involved, not just in screen game and some basic stuff that you could involve, but you know, typically a good freshman in.

He runs pretty good routes. I mean, you had old desk Bryant raping about your mate. I think he got a little out of control there. He usually does.

He never got leans towards subtlety, but no, but a desk maybe saw something in his routes that he liked, obviously.

And I think it's clear that the Texas staff feel similarly.

Well, just right there, he fakes the sit gets the guy to bite and then he just runs right by him. And a lot of these reps too, the long returns.

He's he's getting interceptions playing like a single high safety. So he's got football playerness in them to play in both sides.

But look at those routes, man, like he's legit setting guys up. I know it's high school, but that translates.

He can all tracks. He can track the ball. And that really shows, I tell you what, I mean, I love that we're getting the ball in his hands.

The defensive side of me is like, God, this guy be a great corner back. He'd be an amazing corner.

But yeah, I can understand that we're I want to put the ball in his hands. So we're good. But hey, if there's a guy who could do a little Travis Hunter imitation, it might be Mr. Bishop.

And fast guys, you're worried about, you know, get the ball and go screen and then after, but he's able to catch deep and short all around.

So our sources saying don't be surprised if Bishop is starting mid season or later.

Well, and our juicy intel doesn't stop there. It doesn't counter. It does not. We have one on Derek Cooper freshman as well.

And just kind of to sum it up is Cooper has Heisman potential from sources. They really like what he is showing even early on.

So we will watch a little Cooper tape here as well, Paul.

I cringe slightly when you said Heisman potential. I was hoping we downplay it slightly, but I'm reporting the news.

You're reporting what someone told us in the building. But yeah, I mean, Cooper obviously tremendous raw traits.

And he shows them not only as a running back, but it's a pretty good linebacker as well. Look at that.

Contact shy.

He'll punch you. Look at it. He has that swing and arm that always cracks me up. Yes, he does.

Anthony Hill used to knock out a fever. Scudero. That's right. Scudero, my hero, the patron saint of wide receivers. Yeah, I mean, you can see the speed. That's obvious. The size is also obvious. I mean, that's a big guy trucking.

But the thought was, hey, does he have the refinement or is this just a guy with a bunch of horsepower? We're going to have to teach how to run because frankly, a lot of this runs are him running forward through a hole and defeating inferior athletes. Right.

That doesn't always translate to the college game. What we're hearing is that the coaches are really enthused with Cooper's refinement, his teachability, his coachability.

Here's an interesting thing. We think he's going to be the number three back behind Smothers and Relic Brown, if this continues. And that's that's also good because we're we're paying Cooper and you don't want money sitting on the bench, particularly a position like running back.

So I think we're going to have an opportunity to really spread the load in the offense in the running game.

The motor and raw talent of Ackinson as well as Cohen Brown. So Cohen Brown was somebody that I guess wasn't super heralded. But I watched his tape. I was like, this guy is this guy. Yeah, this guy looks awesome. And he's big. He's fast. He was really smart. Like he was able to find the zone.

So we're hearing good things there. And then importantly to Ackinson on the flip side. There's opportunity there for Ackinson and linebacker. We don't have a super clear cut room of returning starters, at least at one position.

I think Biles will for sure be well. We'll see what happens with Smith's and his injury. But Ackinson has a shot to get real reps. And of course he was brought in to have real reps too.

I think he's going to need to be on our two deep. Yeah. So the question is whether he's the number four linebacker inside of the number three. And that have depend somewhat on some of these older guys coming through for us.

So we also have experience from the transfers. So we have new guys coming in. They're learning a new system all of that. But these are guys that are getting mentioned early.

Oh, Masco at corner, juice, cry or just and cry or linebacker and Eric did a note, I think Friday that he might be your starting Mike. And then Coleman came Coleman, if you guys had heard about him. So we're getting hard working experience transfers.

It's not the Sarkier one where it's like if you were just at Alabama, a former five star, you can come hang out. These guys are impact fighting for starting roles. And then if they don't get the starting role, we'll be legitimate death.

So it seems like on the freshman side and on the transfer side that we brought in some real impacts.

We are in Kool-Aid swimming season right here. But I think what's interesting is I think we know what we did in the off season to improve this football team in the portal.

It's also really nice to get the juice of some of these freshmen who we landed a hell of a freshman class. And it's not surprising some of these guys are making themselves prominent.

But I think what's nice is we're being afforded the opportunity to make them really impactful role players that you can play in spots rather than having to rely on them.

Saying Derek Cooper is going to be our starting workhorse running back 25 carries a game from day one.

We're saying this is a guy the coaches love throwing them in for five, six carries a game to compliment our two little scrapbacks who have their own skill set.

So I just think it's a really nice marriage. And I'm very impressed by some of the stuff I'm hearing and it's about exactly the people I want to hear it about.

And Bishop really offers an interesting dimension to our receiver core right we were going to start like kind of three big guys.

And we still might but Bishop offers something little shifty and nifty in there maybe at the slot that is a really nice compliment to Wingo and Coleman who are these big ball winning or horse power guys out on the edges.

It's a really nice ret new and mix of options. It's going to add to a lot of versatility.

Yeah, yeah, and I'm not normally optimistic type shockingly but I like hearing this stuff and I don't think like you said I don't think it's pure spring hype.

These are guys that the tape matches and before they came in you look at the tape and you're like these guys should be able to play and we're hearing that so that's important stuff.
