on this day in working-class history, the 7th of March. On the 7th of March 1962, Jewish bagel bakers in New York City and Nassau County won a month-long strike for better conditions. Members of the bagel bakers union Local338 voted to accept a deal granting their demand for an additional week's paid vacation, as well as three more paid holidays, and better wages. It was the latest in a long line of strikes and struggles by bagel bakers in New York.
