Welcome to the Carey Abbott Show, your place for news, views, and values you can trust,
and relationship insights you need.
Now here's Carey Abbott.
So good to be with you friends, welcome to the Carey Abbott Show.
It is an honor to be with you, this week in particular, Holy Week, one of the most
if not the most important weeks.
Of course, we celebrate the birth of Christ at Christmas and building up to that is also
important for the believer in Jesus Christ, the work he's done on the cross.
Those of us who name him as Lord and Savior, this is a very important week.
So set aside, make room for him, Palm Sunday with Sunday, a great way to mental and emotionally
and physically set yourself apart and lay something down so he can ride that donkey
into the city, which is a sign of humility.
And I want to stay in that framework this week.
Of course, we'll have a lot of different conversations about things going on in the world
today.
I'll be giving you some news stories and some updates, but think about the messaging going
on.
That's what I want you to focus on, the messaging and how Christ didn't think even of his
position, tells us in Philippians, and who being in very nature, God, okay?
So he's God, verse six in chapter two.
He didn't consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage, rather he
made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant being made in human likeness
and being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death,
even death on a cross, which was reserved for the worst of the worst, right?
And therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every
name, that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow in heaven and on earth and under
the earth.
And every tongue acknowledged that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God, the Father.
I love that passage.
I love that passage.
And I know you do too.
And that's the posture that we should have all the time.
But it's important is that we look at messaging in the world, messaging from people, messaging
rallies or riots, whatever you want to call them, messaging on media.
They're all going to have to bow.
Everyone will kneel and bow and will name him as Lord.
My recommendation to you is to do it now.
Do not wait.
There's nothing to gain.
There's only much to lose.
And it's important that we share that good news with people that we care about and strangers
that you do not know and share it in love and humility, amen?
So some big things have happened and there's a lot going on with TSA.
My husband and I were on a plane recently, two of them.
And so we got to stand in those lines.
And they were not bad.
And we were very grateful to tell the TSA agents, thank you for what you're doing.
And people were quite kind to each other.
And that was a really good thing to see.
Well, let's just say this, the government should not be shut down for any reason and
the people in Congress and senators and congressional members should be doing their job.
And I personally believe that the Democrats are holding the nation hostage.
I don't think it's helpful.
And it puts us at risk as we are, of course, in a circumstance, many will just say we're
at war.
We've been at war with Iran.
They've been at war with us for years.
We are responding and ending this war that's been going on for a decade.
So be praying for that to be reconciled.
I wanted to play just a quick audio about the No Kings rallies.
These No Kings rallies have gone on a number of times.
In fact, this demonstrations on March 28th were the third version of the so-called No Kings
rallies since President Trump came into power in 2025.
We'll talk about who's actually backing those.
And I'm not going to parse out everything about these that you'll probably be able to
read.
But I thought this response from Scott Jennings on CNN was helpful just to put it into
context.
Let's listen to this first one.
These No Kings rallies actually look pretty representative to me of the Democratic coalition.
I saw people flying the hammer and sickle in New York City.
I saw hisbola flags.
I saw Hamas flags.
I saw Palestinian flags.
I saw trans signs.
I see weirdo liberal boomers out there.
This is pretty representative of the Democratic coalition, and that's who funds it as well
by the way.
And so I think if America looks at this and says, what are the two parties stand for?
They got it at the No Kings rally.
No, I think if you Americans are out there, you're out there, the public hands are insane.
You like Hamas sickle flag?
That's not what that No Kings did for.
They had a bunch of them and that it come from somewhere else in No Kings rally.
I did.
I went to six.
And I'll tell you, there's so much excitement.
Six.
There's so much energy.
Yeah.
A lot of free food.
It's a lot of free speech for a country.
That's a lot of free speech.
That was hard here at the end.
That's a lot of free speech for having a king.
Obviously, we have no king.
And that's what makes this interesting and amusing to some of us who understand history
and understand what it would be like if President Trump or anybody else were king.
Thank goodness.
George Washington said no to that concept.
Amen.
Let's hear this other small clip.
I can remember how this started.
Democrats don't want to have any funding or enforcement of our immigration laws.
For this for this fiscal year, this fiscal year, Department of Homeland Security has been
shut down 50% of the time.
Highly irresponsible.
And in both cases, it was Democrats, frankly, just throwing a fit, a fit about immigration.
That's it.
I care more about no immigration enforcement than people moving around the country.
So I agree with Scott Jennings.
I do believe that's what's been happening.
I also believe that the Democrats who are not in power have their number one job when
they have meetings in dark rooms and back, you know, whatever you want to say in private
is to resist anything that this administration is doing so that they are not successful.
And unfortunately, that impacts the American people.
So there were rallies across the nation.
There were some in Europe, which I found really interesting in England, the no kings or
rallies.
You have a king.
But anyway, never mind that, right?
And of course, our nation was built on the fact that we rejected the king's rule back
in the day.
So it is somewhat amusing.
But I am a fan of free speech.
And so if people want to demonstrate, and it looks as if mostly demonstrations were
peaceful, but let's not forget what it's about.
It really is about they don't want policies that are enforcing immigration enforcement.
And they do not want deportation, and they do not want ice to be involved in anything.
Why is that?
Because the Democrat Party made a play under the Biden administration, and even before then,
but especially in the Biden years, that they had to bring in as many people as possible.
Because if they were to really explain to you what they believe and how they want to enforce
it, you would reject it.
And majority of people rejected all the time.
And so this is a power play.
And listen, just so that you recognize, if you had neighbors or friends or people that
you know who went, you think, why are you aligning yourself with those people?
I have the same questions, and I'm not sure everybody understands who's behind it.
So there are people who have looked into those who are actually paying for this.
According to those who, especially if you go to Fox News and others, you'll see this.
The report is that the protests were powered by a $3 billion budget funneled by scores
of organizations.
There are about 500 organizations that are behind the No Kings protest.
So they want to call it grassroots, but it is, as this one person said, 100% astroturf.
This is not grassroots.
And that's important to know, is it wrong that it's organized?
No, it's not wrong at all.
And that's something for people to think about.
You should organize well if you're going to try to make a point and send a message.
But it's important to know this.
No Kings protests are funded by Democrat political advocacy organizations.
And according to a copy of the permit for the flagship march, which was in St. Paul, Minnesota,
guess who's behind it?
Well, of course, one of your favorites, billionaire George Soros.
He is the lead coordinator for the protest or maybe his son.
So that's important to know.
The other name that's come up and you've heard this also is the digital wing of the media.
It also claimed to have found the links radical socialist and communist organizations.
Please note those two.
These are radical socialist and communist organizations.
They do not like the nation the way it is.
The immigration influx that happened was to upset our apple cart to destroy our nation
the way that it's funded and to transform this nation into some global play.
And that's what's going on.
And that's where the real battle is.
The fact that they don't like President Donald Trump is because he's on to the plan.
He's stopping the plan and he has any strong enough to do that.
They are not happy about that.
They would be the same to another person who stepped into his shoes and you might find
that going forward.
So it'll no longer be about Donald Trump.
It will be about the policies that they are opposed.
So keep that in mind as well, especially those of you who might listen to the show and
you went to the rally.
I would love to hear from you by the way, what you went for.
And you probably heard this name, Neville Roy Singham.
He's an American tech tycoon.
He's an avowed communist.
He lives in China.
And he helped fund the rallies as well, especially the ones in Europe.
So these are not grassroots.
These are well funded by people who don't like the American way of life and our Democrat
Republic system.
So please keep that in mind.
And then a lot of the people that showed up, interestingly, you hear someone like a
psychotherapist, Jonathan Alpert, who was talking about this in another show, Fox News.
And he said, this is really probably the largest example of bad group therapy.
And what he meant was that a lot of these people that had go to these rallies are driven
by what we call the grievance culture.
They're people who are so upset about something and they want, they need a focus and they need
an outlet.
And it feels good to go to something where you can scream and say, yeah, that person's
to blame.
If you feel oppressed, you want to point the finger at somebody you want to somebody to
pay for how you feel.
But remember, this would be groups of people who the trans community, LGBT activists, those
who've been told, no, we don't want men in women's sports and good news from the Olympic
Committee, by the way, on that.
So there's a lot of people who would love to hate, actually.
And so this might feel good for a moment.
And then there's that other group of people who are opposed to Jesus Christ, our Lord
and Savior.
This is Holy Week.
Did you know that?
Yes, you did.
And so they have replaced their religion with politics or secularism or Marxism or socialism.
And so they are screaming at the top of their lungs, no king.
Their finger is pointed at the Lord.
If you think it's President Donald Trump, he's just set him aside.
It's authority in general.
And that's what's going on.
People in the grievance culture don't want anyone telling them what to do about anything.
And that's what you see on display.
I think it's helpful when people really say what they think.
I don't like pretending.
I think that's not helpful in authentic relationship.
I have no problem with people wanting to say what they think.
As long as it isn't violent and they don't threaten people.
Unfortunately, in some of these places, they're threatening the lives of ICE agents and
others.
ICE agents represent authority and removing illegal immigrants who, by the way, are not
supposed to be here.
So that in itself is not a good thing.
There's another part of this that I'll get to in just a moment, but I want to play another
message that came through.
And I think you'll find this fascinating.
I don't generally cover Jimmy Kimmel.
I don't have time to cover.
But I thought it was interesting, the messaging that you're hearing in the culture.
And so we're going to just take a little off ramp into some areas I don't often go
into because I thought this was interesting.
He was making comments about Mark Wayne Mullin, who is the new DHS secretary.
And Chrissy Nome has stepped aside.
She was removed.
She was replaced and she transitioned to a different role.
And I thought she did a good job.
Other people thought she did a good job.
Some people said no.
It was not working the way that she was managing it.
Although she helped shut down that border and the border invasion that some people were
noticing.
So I'm grateful for her work, but it is at the pleasure of the president.
And so he felt a change was needed.
I think what was happening in Minneapolis got out of hand and he needed to shut that
down.
So he inserted Mark Wayne Mullin, who happens to be a very popular guy in the Senate.
But listen to what Jimmy Kimmel, how he introduced this change.
Wayne Mullin, he is now on the president's cabinet.
Before that, he was a senator.
Before that, he owned a plumbing business.
He took it from a small little company to a multi-million dollar company.
And he was an MMA fighter.
So that's something to be lauded.
Correct.
A part of a great neighborhood.
I applaud that in America.
But some people think it's funny.
Listen.
Trump's got a whole new generation of thinkers lined up, including his newly confirmed
secretary of Homeland Security, Mark Wayne, Chuck Mike Bruce Dave Mullin, maybe Mullin's
better.
He is the now former senator of Oklahoma.
Before he was elected to the Senate, Mark Wayne Mullin was a low level MMA fighter and
a plumber.
That's right.
We have a plumber protecting us from terrorism now.
Well, I work for Super Mario.
Why not, Mark Wayne?
First of all, there's no low level MMA fighter.
I mean, if you can find it, you can find it.
So, I mean, if you don't mix martial arts, you don't mix martial arts.
I'm sure you couldn't take him no matter where level he was on.
Number two is, it used to be a point in time where we applauded people that took over
their family business, built it from nothing, especially when your kid had your whole life
ahead of you.
That used to be something that we celebrated.
But this is how they think in Hollywood.
If you don't go to Harvard, Yale, some of these at least schools, if you're not a part
of the club, then you're not smart enough to run an agency.
But who do you think America identifies more?
Mark Wayne Mullin or Jimmy Kim?
We relate to the blue collar.
That's what America, we all originally came from nothing and we all had to work our way
up and achieve the American dream.
But we don't call that, I call that grit.
She calls it grit.
So that messaging was interesting, now, you know, comedians should be funny, although
a lot of the writers for the so-called comedians late night are a lot more political than they
used to be.
I think I mentioned this in another show I did on the number of women who've taken over
roles that used to be majority male, and that's one of them, the writers for late night
comedy.
So maybe that's one of the reasons why this sounds so different.
Let me just say this before we go to break and Ben Dominic writes this, when Mark Wayne
Mullin was 20, his dad's health took a turn.
He dropped out of college to run the family business.
He built it from six people, remember, he's just a plumber.
He built it from six people into a multi-million dollar HVAC company with 150 plus employees.
He's a pillar of his community, apparently.
People love him and he is a strong man and he bench presses a lot and apparently he is
friends with everybody.
So he is a good picture of, hey, let's work together and make this country and this nation
great.
So of course, somebody in the messaging has to try to bring him down a notch because
they want our borders weak.
They meaning those who align themselves with socialism, Marxism, globalism, anything
other than America first.
You see that in this messaging, really important and I'll add this one note as we go to break.
Liberal beginnings is important and even if you come from not so humble beginnings as
our Lord and Savior modeled, we need to take on humility and wear it proudly.
Can we do that?
Is that possible?
I think it is.
We'll be right back.
Nearly one in four pregnancies in America ends an abortion.
That's over 800,000 pre-born lives that are lost each year but it doesn't stop there.
Mothers are left with lifelong emotional scars that carry grief and trauma from decisions
often made in fear and oscillation.
At pre-born, they know these mothers don't need judgment, they need love, lasting hope
and practical support to make motherhood possible by the grace of God.
Providing resources for mothers and their pre-born babies means more lives are saved and
souls impacted for the kingdom and this is the passion and purpose of pre-born and their
network clinics.
For just $28 a month, you can provide free ultrasounds, compassionate counseling and
holistic gospel-centered care and by God's grace and the loving faithfulness of supporters
like you.
337,000 babies have been saved, 86,000 commitments to Christ and over 460 ultrasound
machines have been placed.
So go to pre-born.com and together, we can serve mothers, save babies and introduce
people to Christ.
Hey Pastor, do you know you are a key voice in your community on emerging issues?
I'm a Pastor too and even if we don't experience firsthand some of the bigger issues, we owe
it to our church family to understand the why.
Behind the questions the culture is asking about gender, abortion, homosexuality and transgender
issues just to name a few.
I want to encourage every pastor, young and old, to access legacy classroom.
Due to the generosity of the Legacy Institute, it's free.
So what's stopping you?
I jumped into the courses on male and female and family and it literally changed overnight.
The way I counsel blended families, parents with challenges and so many other day-to-day
issues in my church ministry.
Legacy classroom has over 130 experts and authors to help us.
So go to legacyclassroom.com and sign up today.
That's legacyclassroom.com.
You'll be so glad you did.
And now back to the carry-up at show.
So I'm talking about some messaging this week.
It is Holy Week and we want to lean into that first and foremost in Christ put on humility
and therefore we also need to do the same.
We need to look at other people made in the image of God and the purpose that God has for
their life.
It's interesting.
There's one person many of you are familiar with and he has been fighting for the hardworking
man for a long time, Mike Rowe.
He often speaks about jobs and he responded to Jimmy Kimmel's remarks, which I thought
was really interesting.
And remember, he runs a nonprofit to promote skilled trade jobs called Mike Rowe Works.
And he emphasized, quote, the shortage of skilled tradespeople is now headline news.
And that closing is nothing less than a matter of national security in his mind.
He said the only sensible thing to do in the wake of a moment, this tone deaf is remind
America that the skills gap is wide and getting wider.
He said what we really need in this country are more welders who can talk intelligently
about Aristotle and more philosophers who can run and even be, that must be with
talking.
More generals in other words, who can fix their own toilets and more plumbers who can
hold a powerful government job.
And this is what Mullin did, he said.
He was a private citizen who mastered an essential skill.
And then he turned that skill into a multi-million dollar company that employed a lot of people
and served a lot of customers that gave him the freedom to do other things with his
life, including a career in public service, which got him into Congress, where he spent
the last 11 years doing whatever Congressmen do.
Now he is a very consequential position in the cabinet of the current administration.
I like that view and it's another message I wanted to remind you about.
We need tradespeople and we need to highly motivate young men and women to get involved
in that.
On another note, there's a message that came through at CPAC if you're following that
particular news.
Apparently, we heard from them and this CPAC for those of you who don't know or don't
attend.
And served a political action conference.
It was also on March 28 and apparently Vice President JD Vance is the leading candidate
to take the Republican nomination for president in 2028.
Vance received 53% of the support of the people who attended the annual conference in
Great Vine, Texas.
So they sent a message.
And then guess who number two was this won't shock you.
Of course, Marco Rubio, Secretary of State, he was in second place at 35%.
And for those who pay attention, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump Jr.
interestingly came in at 2% each Ted Cruz and Pete Hexeth, Senator Rand Paul and many
others here at 1% so they started naming everybody, including Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
I like to throw that in there because anytime we travel, my husband's name is Greg Abbott
and he says, yes, I'm not the governor of Texas.
So there's some interesting messaging there.
Now this one, another one I don't often find my way to these, but I thought this was
also interesting from the Pope.
Now my have many friends who are Catholic and I do not disparage anyone and that's not
what I'm doing here, but there was a joke that I had to bring in from Babylon beat, which
again, if you follow them, you get the jokes and satire is hard to pull off if you don't
use it a lot.
But this was interesting because apparently, and this was in Politico, Pope Leo, rejected
the claims that God justifies war in his Palm Sunday Mass message.
And I want to get this exactly right here.
He rejected the claims that God justifies war and prays especially for Christians in
the Middle East during Palm Sunday Mass before tens of thousands of people in St. Peter Square.
And he talked about Jesus in being the king of peace, couldn't agree more.
He said this, brothers and sisters, this is our God, Jesus, king of peace, who rejects
war, whom no one can use to justify war, and he went on to say he does not listen to
the prayers of those who wage war, but rejects them.
In this article, they talk about the misuse of assigning God's motives to things.
I don't, I don't think that's problematic.
I do wonder, however, how much of the Old Testament, he was focused on when he said
this.
And I thought this response from the Babylon B was clever and I wonder what you think
about it.
The headline.
Now remember, this is satire.
Okay.
So please don't be offended.
But I thought this was an interesting response as I'm trying to keep things light-hearted
here.
Right?
So Pope Leo explains that God does not listen to people who wage war so long as you don't
count Moses, David, Joshua, Elijah, Saul, Gideon, Samson, or anyone else in the Bible.
Now that's their headline.
It's kind of a funny way to respond because I thought that was an interesting comment
he made.
I'm reading in the Old Testament and the New Testament in my Bible plan.
And of course, I'm in Psalms and Proverbs every day, generally speaking.
And I found that really interesting and I'm wondering if he, if he may be misspoke or
if he said something in the article itself, I'll link you to it says Pope Leo boldly proclaimed
today that God does not listen to the prayers of those who wage war so long as you don't
count King David or Joshua or Gideon or Samson or Elijah or has a chire or any of those
other people in the Bible and satire clearly.
He further stated that you must also not count St. Joan of Arc, St. George or any of the
other Christian lawyers who prayed to God and it went on to talk about some of those
other exceptions.
Now this is a clever way to say disagree, you know, I disagree with you.
And just to be balanced here, there's another one here that talked about the president
deploying 10,000 soldiers to spread the word that there is no war in Iran.
Now also very funny because it's obviously to attire and you know, that's also not maybe
the way you see it.
The president has announced the deployment of 10,000 soldiers.
The article says to help spread the word that there's no war happening in Iran after
four weeks, if I didn't across the Middle East, President Trump stated that the activation
of several thousand more soldiers was necessary to properly communicate that there is no war.
Okay.
So tongue in cheek clearly satire to balance it out there.
I'd be curious what you think about the Pope's comments just because I do think it's important
that we get the messaging right when it comes to, well, what does God think about war?
And I want to go back to the No Kings.
If you're Catholic and I know I have friends and neighbors who are Catholic and are supportive
of some of the No Kings rallies and I wondered, does this come from then not just the Marxist
socialist, globalist view, is it also built into your religion?
And if so, goodness, what I'm reading, that could be very confusing and I don't want
to assign motives to the Pope.
I'm not close to him and I don't follow him closely, but I think public statements like
that are interesting and we should be looking at that together.
You know, when you look at the what's going on with Iran, 47 years, if not more of them
being the largest terror organization in the world, they pretend to be a country, but
they're really a terror organization.
Is it going to war or finishing a war or taking out the wicked, bad evil people who
are harming their own people to the tune of tens of thousands, right?
There is something about just war that I think fits this description.
So I think the messaging here is important because people who say, we don't like war.
I don't think this president does either.
He's on record to say, but he's not a pacifist and I think there's a difference there.
A lot of other messaging coming out this week that I will cover another time, including
the verdict against meta and a lawsuit that came against them, finding the Bible and
social media addiction trials.
That's a whole nother show.
That's a whole nother week, probably really, when you think about it, but we won't take
that time today.
Think about the messaging you're spreading with your words and your actions.
Remember, it's Holy Week.
We'll see you next time.
