A top NFL draft expert is calling North Dakota State quarterback Cole Payton, the most underrated player in this year's class. Todd McShay believes he could be a late-round steal for teams like the New York Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Arizona Cardinals. This year's quarterback group looks weak overall. The Las Vegas Raiders seem set to take Indiana's Fernando Mendoza with the number one pick. Alabama's tie Simpson is next in line, but he might not even go in round one. Several teams have grabbed better in quarterbacks lately to fill gaps. Still, the Jets, Steelers, and Cardinals face uncertain spots at the position and could use a young project player to build behind. Payton put up big numbers in his senior year. He threw for 2,719 yards, completing 72% of his 225 passes. He also rushed for 777 yards and had 29 total touchdowns.
