Good morning.
Good morning.
Good morning.
Happy Monday.
Clocks are spring forward.
It's going to be 70 degrees today, the Delaware Valley.
And it's legal tampering when it comes to free agency.
It all begins today.
Lots of nugs, lots of maneuvering.
I love this time here.
I love the all the news part of it.
Like, what's happening?
What's the latest thing to drop?
It's a lot of fun.
It really is.
It's a lot of fun all weekend long.
I was talking to people.
And let's get you up to speed.
Okay.
So, right now, when we're talking about the birds,
as we know, Jordan Davis in the fold.
I'm hearing that the Eagles want to extend Jalen Carter next
that they're working on a deal to extend Jalen.
So, I know that he was rumored to be part of the Max Crosby trade.
And, you know, his name has been out there.
Some trade rumors.
I'm hearing that the Eagles would like to resign Jalen Carter.
And my guess is, I think, now he's a Drew Rosenhaus guy.
And I think Drew Rosenhaus looks at Jalen and says,
you know what?
Philadelphia is the perfect spot for Jalen Carter.
You got, you know, a great D-line coach.
You got Big Dom.
You got a really good support.
You got the rest of the Georgia guys, other than Nicobie.
Like, you got, you know, Jordan Davis next to him was great, right?
There's a lot of good things.
It's a good spot for Jalen Carter.
So, I think Drew Rosenhaus is looking at this thing going,
yeah, we much prefer to have him here long-term.
It's probably his best place.
I think it's definitely his best place to flourish
would be in Philadelphia.
So, I think that could happen.
So, I think Jalen Carter aches up.
I think Jalen Phillips is close to coming back.
So, I think they're looking to keep their D-line attacked.
I know that the, there's the ESPN report about the Eagles
inquiring about Kenard from Minnesota.
I think they're looking at that edge spot going on.
We need somebody in case Phillips,
we can't get a deal done with Phillips.
You know, what's Kenard?
I think that was just how he kicking the tires.
Nobody's better at this than how he reading the market.
They can sure when it comes to contracts and cap and trades.
Nobody's a better guy to deal with trades than how he, you know,
how he's the best at it.
And so, I look at I think Phillips comes back.
Obviously, we know that Kobe's going to be gone.
And then it goes back to AJ.
Like, like, there's AJ Goddard or semi tied into this thing.
And I know that there's an impasse
when it comes to the wing on Philadelphia as of yesterday.
There was a bit of an impasse.
I think the crux of the impasse is about the number one pick.
I think the Patriots would prefer to give up this year's pick,
which is number 31.
And the Eagles would prefer next year's first round pick from the wing.
Which, to me, it's the smart move.
Because next year, first of all, who knows what was in the wing?
They, you know, a lot of times the loser of the Super Bowl takes a step back.
And it can easily take a step back.
They could easily be drafting in the teams or the, you know, low to mid 20s.
Like, that's, you're going to do better than you did this year.
Plus, I think next year's draft projects to be better.
So, I think that's the impasse right now.
There's perhaps a couple other teams that are in the mix for AJ.
We'll talk to AJ Smith coming up every day right around 920 for the latest
and all the happenings in the league.
Mikey Garofolo will check in.
You know, he's like on the front lines of it.
Head buried in the cell phone, texting everybody.
So, that's kind of where we're at, where we stand right now.
Which is going to be a lot of stuff happening already this morning.
Toa was released by Miami with a June 1 designation.
You're going to see a lot of that too, where you'll see a June 1 designation for cat reasons today.
Obviously coming up this week on Wednesday, it starts the new year.
So, you'll have a new year, the league year begins.
And this is the tampering period for free agents.
The interesting one is the receivers, right?
Because there's not a lot of them.
Which is why I love the way how he's playing the AJ situation.
Everybody loves Alex Pierce.
Alex Pierce is a nice player.
He's going to get way overpaid.
Nice player.
I mean, he is.
But let's be real.
Like, who would you rather have?
Alex Pierce or AJ Brown.
So, I think how he's playing it's smart.
Where you look at it and go, hey, you know, I don't really want to trade AJ Brown.
You know, we'll see what happens.
But, you know, if you make me an offer, and that's how I was playing it, which I think is smart.
So, we'll get into that.
Lots of, all week long, the free agent period, the reshaping of the NFL rosters are fun.
And where those all those, all the quarterbacks go.
We'll be part of it, right?
Kyla Murray has been released.
We'll see what happens with him.
Cousins.
We got all the Aaron Rogers lurking still.
You know, it's going to be interesting.
So, we're all those quarterbacks kind of wind up in that shuffle.
So, we'll, we'll be on top of it.
We'll talk to AJ all week, Mikey G all week.
We got Baldy.
So, we got a lot of good NFL stuff.
Sixers.
Oh, God.
Maxi Hurt now.
He has the finger.
He's going to be out for at least a couple of games.
And it just makes the McCain trade worse and worse and worse and worse.
It really does.
And when you think about the future of that team, they're now in the eighth spot.
Both Florida teams jumped them.
Orlando Miami and Orlando.
So, and Atlanta's on their heels.
Atlanta's only, Atlanta's hot.
They beat them on Saturday night.
And Atlanta's won seven in a row.
They're a game and a half behind the sixers.
So, could you imagine that they, I still can't believe it.
That they move McCain now.
It's made no sense.
The whole thing made no sense.
He was trying to get more.
He was trying to get draft capital to go after Kawaii Leonard.
Let me think about that for a second.
You're just going to add another dude that you can't count on.
The idea of these veterans and all this stuff.
It's, it's, it's screaming for a reach at reboot.
Whatever you want to call it.
Like I'm on the bus when you pull the thing down for the stop.
The wire.
I'm just pulling the thing down.
I have enough.
I can't watch Nick Nurse coach anymore.
I'm just trying to see.
I can't completely drive the insane.
So we're getting them a little bit.
Obviously, World Baseball Classic was awesome.
Shwar bomb against Great Britain.
And I watched the game Friday night.
I loved it.
I love the world baseball classic.
It's been so much fun.
And they're just awesome.
It was the, I guess it was the first inning when judge got a cookie.
And you're, you're watching that thing.
That thing was Bob.
Just outrageous.
So we'll talk about that as that continues.
Nory for the Phillies.
Kids doing well for team Italy.
He's back like 780.
For team Italy.
Pretty cool.
So we'll get to that.
Of course, busy weekend and heavy football today.
Good morning, VG.
Oh, man.
The sun is out, dude.
How nice is that?
It's great.
Wow.
I walked the dogs on the rivers, all the sunrise.
Oh, did you?
I love this 715 sunrise.
That's nice.
You know, you don't have to get up super early.
It's nice.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Well, I like at night.
Like last night we had baseball.
And I mean, it's probably one of our last indoors.
We're going to be indoors.
A couple of three, a little bit during the month,
but we're starting to go outdoors, which is great.
Because we've been indoors since January 2nd is when we started.
Yeah.
I kind of added some of thoseendrements,
because that was a nice spot back there.
A growing seeing day.
So a Saturday night out in the morning.
So what I'm going to go out in the morning,
I like to get up there first.
I want to show you what it meant.
One of those venues that you enjoy getting to do,
ways out in that area.
Thank you.
And also, I like to get a little bit outside of this room,
but I really think you're most suitable to stay on
the back of that room.
Right now, Medical,
I found out that there is another meeting.
Is this line going to be his car are going to be the highest paid edge?
Don't you mean? No. Oh, car. Yeah, no, the tackle. We're going to have two tackles that are going to be the highest paid.
They're going to out out and pay each other. Yeah. A hundred million dollar D line. Yeah. Yeah.
I mean, you know, alternatively, that's the strength of the team.
The Eagles have the Eagles won their Super Bowl with on the strength. So that defensive line.
Mm hmm. All for pricey. I'm a cap stop. I mean, I'm not working. The last thing I worry about with Howie is cat.
All right. He's the prize of Jordan Davis's number. Yeah, I thought it was I thought it was high, but you know,
I thought it was high, but I told you this year of a day where it comes to the cap stuff. I mean,
I don't really worry about it because I know I got a guy that understands it and navigates it,
can push it forward, knows that when the cap's going out, but the cap went up for a hundred million.
Like my, my, my, I was a shot priority is I want, I want, I want this group of defense to be here.
So I love, I, I, I thought Davis played great last year. And I think it works with him and Carter.
I think what you get of him and Carter and the fact that he's here, I think is a big deal because I
think this is the place for Carter to flourish. All right. I was surprised. Like I thought maybe
with the, the amount he signed for, maybe the trade rumors with Carter were a little more legit than
I thought they were, but you say they want them both back. Yeah, I think they're working for a deal.
Again, I mean, you know, Jordan House has to, yeah, can't be, I can't be crazy, but I think the,
I think he's coming back. I still don't love the Phillips. He's like underwhelming last year.
I get the press rate. I don't know. The pressure rates, I guess, but I don't pay taxes.
What do you want to go? Like the problem is there's nothing out there. The problem is you've got
Hendrickson. I don't think they're going to be on, he's going to be real expensive. Right. So
Hendrickson's going to be in the 30s. So I don't think you're going to go there. I think they made
their one shot. If you do 25 or Phillips 24, what we're hearing? Yeah, it's right. Yeah, I heard
it 20, 30, 24. Yeah. Yeah, 35 is a sound that crazy for me, but it kind of is. I mean,
it's still, still 30% more. Yeah. Look at these 35%. Look at these quarterbacks. Right,
these quarterbacks are available. What was you? To a Kyler, Gino Kirk cousins. Kyler one causes to
do. Who you all to? To a Gino. To a Gino. That's a bad shop at the bottom of that list.
I don't know. I mean, I, I had no interest in to a word. Yeah. Right. Yeah. I had no,
I got no interest in that. No, no interest in that. I mean, that's, that's, that's pretty
big throw. I'm Rodgers in there too. You do a two as a backup. No, no. I think, listen,
I love to, you know, I feel for the guy, the concussions, everything else. I think he stinks.
I've always told he stinks. He's like Tanner better than Tua. Yes. Yeah. It's not like not
even close to my mind. Okay. Yeah. I had zero interest. Zero concussions aside. If he was
perfectly healthy, I would want nothing to do with him. All right. I don't like him. Right.
I don't like his arm. I don't like his pocket presence. I don't like anything. Nothing about him.
Yeah. So I, I, I think Tanner's, I think Tanner's legitimately way better. Okay. Then,
then Tua. So I'm, I'm good there. I'm surprised you're not, you're not into the, you know,
resigning your own. I, I like him. I love this group, man. I love this. I'm still young.
I like Davis and I like Carter. I don't like Phillips. He's just, it doesn't excite me at all. He
doesn't, I don't know. He seems like he's overpaid. And I think we're just going to be stuck with him.
He's going to get overpaid because it's a bad year for D N's. Yeah. I don't, I don't, I don't,
I don't, I don't, I don't, I'm not in love with like, obviously, if you had a chance, like,
they were kicking the tires on cross me. So, you know, to get max, I, I get it, you know, that would
have been awesome. But, you know, 24 million. I mean, 35 million to 23 or 24 million is a big deal.
I still think I get, I should get half a game record or 24. You don't even have a game record.
That's the going rate, dude. Like, when the, when the cap goes up, everybody, everybody,
like, it's like, Alex Pierce, what do you think Alex Pierce is going to get?
Well, we're going to see Alex Pierce. Number one fan is coming on later, David Murphy.
He's been seeing Alex Pierce for a month now. I know. I know. I, I, I, I don't think, I love
Murphy. I don't think he and Devonte are a fit. No. So I, like, I, I'm not even thinking about
how Pierce as a possibility, right? Because I look at him like, you know, the AJ trade happens,
and you're looking at who you're going to pair Devonte with. I don't see Alex Pierce as the guy.
Those feel like it to me. I don't know. I don't think they work. My focus is on the defense,
right? So you get the tackles back. You're going to pay Cooper and Quenyan.
Like, you know, as those four nucleus, I mean, that's what I want to, I want to bring back.
Well, yeah. And do I mean, if Phillips here, I guess he's part of Nicholas,
Nicholas, he's not that old, right? Yeah.
I got defense, man. The defense is what it's going to help you. It's going to what make
especially as manion reconfigures and reimagines this offense. It's going to take time for
to start to click. So you've got to have to lean in on your defense. No, I know. Because it was
also the free agent pool. It's not that great. Why receiver? Alex Pierce is the highest rated
tight end. You got a couple old heads and Dallas Goddard. I, I could see a world where if they do move
AJ, Goddard comes back. Yeah, it seems to be what's going on. AJ may become a man. I mean,
seems like the market might be cooling down. I don't think so. No. It's just a read. Yeah.
I, I, I really don't think so. I think how he's just playing these, please, he's playing
it cool. Like, I don't need to jump in and do it. I, I would be really surprised if he came back.
Really surprised. I would too. I don't think it's a disaster. He comes back. But
yeah, I don't think he is. I think this is just a hey. And so you could see it, right? Like,
if you're how we, there's too many teams that need a number one receiver.
And you could just hold out for your price. Somebody's going to meet your price. Someone
could give them a one other than New England. I believe that. Yeah. Yeah. I believe that.
AJ is coming up. We'll go. Yeah. Pick his brain at some point. Mikey G will stop by too. So
we'll pick his brain. But I do believe that. All right. Anything else free agent wise that you
are looking forward to? No, I'm just sitting back and enjoying this one because I kind of,
I don't really have any. I feel like it's like you say like the retool. Let's go sit back
and enjoy it. You don't really love this time of the idea. It depends on what happens. I don't
expect much to happen with the birds. I don't know. I don't expect much to happen. So for me,
it's like, I don't know. Like, do you think they're going to go? Do you think there's a big
phrase in signing that's not already on this team that they're going to get? No, I think it's about
there. Yeah. It's going to resigning. It's about resigning their own. And I think it's about.
Yeah. So I think that changes. But I do think he, I could see a trade. In addition to AJ,
I can see love of trade. That would explain me. I can see how we don't want to listen. I know
that he's been where he's working it, man. Like, I, he's got a good vision. All right. He's got a
good vision. He's feeling a little stressed from last year and making a little better.
I think I, well, you know, I, so much is going to be on how Manion works and with Jalen.
I mean, that's with Nick. Yes. I just, I put him on the side. Like, I put him in a closet.
Like, because Manion, yeah, like, man, trying to put him in a closet for years. Dude, he just
keeps popping back out. He's like, he's got a skeleton key that unlocks every lock. He's just
popping out. Get back. I'll see you out again. Here he is sprinkling his office. Get him out.
Poor Maxi. I love. I was with the fifth finger. I've never heard it call the fifth finger in my
life. The pinky. Yeah. We know it's a thumb of the pinky. The fifth finger. Yeah, I don't like that.
We're trying to rename, rename the digit. Yeah. The fifth finger.
Kid, rename the digit. That's a pinky. It's like the pinky. It's a pinky, man.
It's earned its reputation. It's the pinky. You don't just call it the fifth finger. Yeah.
That's relegation. You don't think he's fifth finger. Fingers swear. You pinky swear. Right.
Come on, man. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Disrespect of the pig's relegation of the pinky. Yes. I don't like it.
I don't like respect. But you know what it is? That team is a whole doomed.
There's a guy right in the 13. Doom. Doom. I say it was funny.
Pace cake don't said something to me and about it. He's like, I don't know. I don't know. I go,
do we're cursed? That franchise more than any other franchise brutal. I mean,
even more than the flyers, they're cursed. Have you ever seen a franchise?
Dude, the last time they won is 1983, right? Yeah. They have not been,
like, they haven't even made a run. Like, it's 25 years ago that they made a run to the finals
with AI that was a blip that was just like the 93 Phillies. Is it been longer? Is it an
aptitude? Well, I think it's both. Yeah. I think, but I think they're cursed and they bring it bad
people. Yes. That's right. That's kind of it. That's the two people. Like, like, seriously,
more he was going to go try to get quiet Leonard. Yeah. I know. That's just what this team needs.
I mean, first of all, he's in a nigma that you can't count on. And you don't even know. Like,
listen, I don't know how he plays with Joe. When he plays, he's awesome. But who knows
in his head? Like, you want to bring that? Cooke-a-loop in downtown. Yeah, man. Right? Like,
you're going to bring that dude here. There's no freaking problems. Dude, here you in the list,
since since February 1st, 2024. Do you want to be this played 52 games over under Ben Simmons
games, please? Well, you're telling me he played over, even though he's a pro fisherman now.
He played 59 games. Yeah. Yeah. And he's he's on the the pro-fishing
tournament. They were the less were they both. Number one picks, number one picks by the sixers,
they play 59 and 52 games in the last two years. I know, dude. It's it's cursed. I'm telling you,
it cursed. Who thinks the Ben Simmons thinks it cursed, dude. I'm sorry. And the fault does
look cursed, dude. Everybody. Yeah, but forget faults. That was just a bad move, right?
But as Tatum comes back, a boss is going to win a win of the East again. Boss dude coming
back so early. But Ben Simmons, he'd look, he looks like God, like a God, like figure.
Oh, you thought he was like the 2.0 magic, the new and approved magic.
Checking eyes, having fun, whatever. Yeah, I'll never forget Brett goes here. I was at practice,
early on in the second year. He just didn't crew two inches. He said, yeah, six, eleven, seven,
like wow. Yeah. And here's the dude. He just could pass. Did great handle. Great vision. Yeah.
And actually before he freaked before he went to the show, I mean, he asked him to go ballpark.
He made it all start. Yeah. He was a sad thing. Defensive. And he just didn't want to he don't
want to play. No, he found out what it took to excel. He wasn't in today. Yeah. So he
becomes a pro fisherman. Yeah. All right. Lots to get to today. Coming up shortly.
Jay Smith, as we dive in the birds and all kinds of bird stuff, we love it. This is a great,
this is great. Come on. Get in the way. Get in the frenzy. Come on.
Jules. He's not into with Jules. What's wrong? I'm on the edge of my seat. There's a door
Jackson coming back or not. Look, look, see, he's not in it with Jules. I got to run down to the
question mark. Please Jackson. Slap it. Would you? All right. Let's talk about some of our friends.

So yeah, no, I'm fired up for today. Good. Because I'm happy that you were coming on,

and it ain't cause. I mean, I've got, I've got the Schefter alerts all year round. I got Mike G on
tweet. I got, I got more than I'm going to admit. All of us are sending Minka Fitzpatrick to the Jets
for seventh round pick. Minka Fitzpatrick. All right. All right, let's get to it. All right,
let's, let's kind of go through all what's happening with the birds and suss it out.
So let's start with AJ, right? Cause everybody's wondering like, what's going on?
So we'll cross reference our stuff. I hear how he's waiting it out. Like he's going,
he's not going to do it until unless he gets what he wants. I hear the biggest,
right now, the biggest hurdle is the number one pick. Minka wants to give the Eagles this year's
pick, which is 31 overall. The Eagles will prefer next year's first round pick where, you know,
it's undoubtedly going to be higher. Right. Yeah. No, if you're the Eagles, you want that future
first, you know, New England's going to have a tougher schedule next year. So yeah, I definitely
get the same sense as you there. And you know, I think if you're an Eagles fan that once AJ brown
back, you're probably hoping that the Patriots sign Alec Pierce because that's kind of New England's
leverage right now. I want to say a quick thing about that though, which is Alec Pierce is a nice
player, but he's, he's not AJ Brown, you know, he's not, he's not the same exact thing to start
to show. He's about to get paid un, you know, unbelievable amount. It's a bad receiver group.
There's no receivers. The cap went up. He's going to get a big number. So I don't know. To
me, the Eagles have the leverage here, which is why I still feel like this, this was a deadline
missed, right? You know, the Eagles and the Patriots and the other teams that are involved here,
you're going into free agency. This kind of felt like the first checkpoint where if an AJ deal was
going to happen, it would have happened over the weekend, but I wouldn't discount it quite yet.
I think that, you know, if the Patriots miss out on Alec Pierce, now they have even less leverage
than they did before. So yeah, I think that, you know, because of the cap hit that you take on
if you move AJ, because of the fact that he's still an impact player, the Eagles are going to have
a premium price set on him, but I still think there's a chance that the team's going to pay that price.
I think it's probably going to be one that we revisit in a couple of weeks, you know,
around the draft. And then obviously, once the Eagles can, you know, do this post June 1, that kind
of is another conversation in itself. So I think if you're, again, if you're a fan that's sick of
hearing about the AJ stuff, you're rooting for it. Not to happen. Then you're kind of, I think
you're hoping that the Patriots sign Alec Pierce and that, yeah, this conversation sort of takes
a turn from there. How much of the desire for the pick next year? Do you think it's tied to
being able to do a post one post June 1? You can designate that. You can still designate a post
June 1 if it happens for this draft. You can't designate a trade, which is kind of, which is a
strange thing, because you can designate a release. The release and assigning, right? Yeah.
Now, and I heard, I think it was Mike, Mike Garafolo on NFL network said that, you know,
how he's trying, been trying to get creative about this, where it's like, could we do part of
the deal before June 1st? And then, you know, finalize it June 1. So, yeah, it's definitely
something to keep in mind. And the other thing I would say is if they, if they do take the
brunt of the cap hit this season, it frees money up in future years. And, you know, we'll talk
about some of this, you know, in a minute here, like they need that money in future years as well.
They got some big, some big extensions coming over the next few years.
Yeah. So here's the other thing. I don't think it's just New England, like when it comes to
marketplace for AJ. Again, I think it this works in how he's favorite. Like the Patriots might
could use Alec Pierce's leverage to which I go, good luck. You think that's going to get you
super bowl like back to super bowl. Yeah. And I think there's going to be other teams that
are interested in AJ. Yeah. Yeah. If you're, I mean, honestly, the chiefs are one that jumps
out to me. They have draft capital. If you're the Rams, I mean, I know that, you know, they just
move one of their ones, but they know for a future first. I think, yeah, there are still teams. I
mean, Buffalo would have been one. I don't think they're going to make two trades for a receiver.
The chargers have been reported as a team too. So, uh, yeah, I'm not to say that there's
not a market outside of that, but it does feel like it's funny. Did you broke the Rams?
Interesting. You broke the Rams. Yeah. Because I heard the Rams were, were like kicking the tires
around. Sure. Yeah. I mean, that's their 14, right? They they move, they move these premium
picks for players that can help them right now. I think it makes sense. Yeah. I mean, they, they
think about 13 right now, too. I mean, think about like, if you're the Rams, right? Like, you
imagine that you would have, how does Puca, AJ Devote, I just make, how does that?
Yeah. I mean, that's like probably one of the most physical receiving quarters you could build,
right? I mean, two guys, two, two guys that can run, run after the catch, like nobody's business.
And I mean, I don't staffers taking it, taking one for the team, but
yeah, yeah, the Rams still have the 13th pick in this year's draft. So I know. Yeah,
AJ, they just gave the Duffy a hundred million.
That yeah, I wanted to talk to you about that. We'll get to it. We got other ego stuff to get to,
but yeah, that's, that's another one that's on my, my, my list for today.
I mean, wow, right? Like, it's just wild. It's so much. It's credible. Anyway, you got that. All right.
Jordan Davis sides. Let's start with that signing. Yeah, because, you know, it's funny. A lot of
people, a couple of my buddies were like, man, it's a lot of money for Jordan Davis. VG start
the show. It's a lot of money for Jordan Davis. And my answer is, when the cat goes up, like,
that kind of shapes everything. And I think, you know, I think it was the smart move. I think
you got to recite them. Yeah, I think they were trying to get ahead of the market there.
Um, you know, it's, it's a deal that will necessitate Jordan Davis to continue improving as a
player. But he is the type of player, the type of person that you, you sort of feel good about
making that bet. You know, the, the leap that he took, you know, starting at the end of the 2024
season, really in the 2025 season as well. Uh, and honestly, the fact that he stepped into a
leadership role, I think all these things are taken into account. But he, he was, you know, he
was a huge deal for them defensively last year. He's a big part of what they do schematically.
You know, it's not as simple as saying, oh, just get another nose tackle in there. Um, so yeah,
it was, it was a significant deal. It surprised me at first. But yeah, the sense I got was they were
trying to get ahead of the market. And honestly, yeah, Jalen Carter is a part of that, that
conversation getting ahead of where this defensive tackle market is moving toward over the next
couple of years. You got breaking news. Oh, we got involves the Cowboys. Oh, Hendrickson,
no, Packers are close to finalizing a deal tree. The tree that would send Rashon Gary to the
Cowboys. Hmm. So wait for a late 2027 draft pick. So does that take them out of the Hendrickson?
No, he's a tackle. Hmm. So they're going to go Rashon Gary, Quinn Williams.
I mean, it's not like it's not like it's not like it's too much. There's multiple reports.
Some have them as a tackle. Some have them as an edge. He does play edge sometimes. I think he plays,
I think he's, he kind of plays both. Yeah. Um, I'd about to say because yeah, I, I always
thought of him more as an edge guy. But yeah, I think he plays, he plays inside. Yeah. Yeah. I mean,
maybe I guess if you're thinking about building it for, you know, a Christian Parker type front,
you probably look at him as like that five tech, you know, that four eye, uh, probably in that
like Moro, a Jomo Milton Williams range. Um, so yeah, I guess that doesn't take them out of the
sweepstakes for Hendrickson, uh, especially because I don't know how much Gary's do. Let's see.
Hey, because I've on them. I'd still prefer.
Wait, hold on. Let me, we're getting a test. Gary's got, he's got a, before the trade yet,
he had pretty big cap hits in, uh, 26 and 27. So, um, financially, it'll probably still be,
uh, you know, decent amount on the Cowboys books. Uh, oh,
here's some, just getting some here. Uh, yep. I got you. Um, all right. We're, we're, we're waiting
about something. Uh, all right. Let's go to, uh, let's, let's go to Jalen Carter. Yeah.
Because I'm hearing, and let's see if you hear the same thing that the Eagles would like to
resign and extend Jalen Carter. And that, um, I think, I think Drew Robes announced,
who's this agent believes the Eagles are the perfect fit for Jalen Carter's future.
Clint Hurt, who is the defensive line coach, and I think the heir apparent to Vic is here. He's
terrific. And you also have obviously Big Dom. And I think those guys are active,
a, act as a good protective kind of pieces for, uh, for Jalen Carter. Yeah. No, I, I hear a lot
of the same things, you know, the, the fit there in terms of the behind the scenes, you know,
the, the coaching staff and obviously Dom is a massive part of that. Um, it is a big reason why
the Eagles drafted Jalen Carter in the first place is because of the confidence they had. Uh,
and they're, and then be, you know, in being able to, uh, support Jalen Carter and kind of,
you know, help him through the maturation process that he's had to undergo the last few years.
And I think, you know, that, that still holds true today. So, uh, yeah, I know that there is,
uh, been some trade speculation. I know that, you know, people are wondering, you know, what's,
what's going to fall, what's going to happen next, especially after the Jordan Davis extension.
I think the Eagles would like to get a deal done with Jalen Carter here. And I think, uh, you
know, there's, there's reason to believe that will get done. Um, you know, that's not to say that
he's untouchable. But, uh, yeah, I think that, uh, he, like, again, similar to what you were here
in here. Um, you know, I think that there, it's going to be a big number when it does happen. I
think that there's probably conversation about what that number is going to look like, which maybe
sparks some of this stuff. But yeah, I, I think, you know, I'd still expect him to be, you know,
with the Eagles long term at this point. Yeah. And I think there's
protective natures to the contract, right? Like so, yeah, there'll be some outs and the whole thing
just to make sure, you know, that everything, uh, Jalen remains kind of diligent and focused.
Yeah. And not to say that this is what's happening here. This is a guess. But sometimes the agent
stuff, like when you're doing a negotiation behind the scenes like this, sometimes the trade
speculation comes from the agent side because, you know, maybe the agent thinks he'll get paid
more somewhere else, right? Um, so, you know, that sometimes comes up with these things. But,
again, he's an impact player. The Eagles aren't going to move him for, you know, it have to be a
huge package. And I don't think, like, it would be much facet, right? Like, I think if you're
the Eagles and, you know, you're kicking around named for a Max Crosby big trade, you know,
I mean, it makes sense because you haven't signed him yet. And, you know, if that's an option,
the team sure, it's fluid, right? I tell you, actually, pick your lane. It's fluid to see what
your team and it's up to your GM to look at every different possibility. So, yeah, could I have
seen him in a trade for Max Crosby? Yeah. But, you know, it would have to be Max and, and a one,
and Jaylin and a three, whatever it was. Yeah, I'm sure if you were doing that deal, you'd be
getting a future first from the Raiders. I think that that would have been something that would
have been hard to pass up. You're talking to Max Crosby and a first that could be in the top,
you know, top 10 next year. That's it. That's, that's a big conversation for any player. So,
yeah, that's how he always been strength, you know, that's why this time of year, you know,
he has such an advantage over the rest of the league is he isn't, he's always willing to have
those conversations. He's always willing to explore those deals. You never know when you're
going to get something crazy like that. Yeah, yeah. All right, Jaylin Phillips, I hear that
they are kind of focused on bringing Phillips back. And then it's like, hey, let's bring this
whole D line back. Yeah, yeah. Now, I think, you know, to pull the, the listeners behind the curtain
here, like that one's prewritten by me, you know, and if it happens, you know, it'll be on all
phy.com pretty shortly after the deal happens because yeah, we've, we've sort of been waiting for
this one for a, for a little bit here, you know, talking to some, some guys on the staff yesterday
about Jaylin Phillips, the thing that jumped out to me is like the, his production tailed off,
but the defensive production as a whole, I think, was really reflective of his impact on that group,
you know, and that is, I've heard it described to me before, like he's kind of like a perfect
ed rusher for Vic Fangio because his sack production is not quite elite, you know, he doesn't have
the sack numbers of an elite ed rusher, but he kind of checks all the boxes that Vic wants in
terms of he's always around the quarterback. He's really tough against the run. He's impactful
against the run. He could play, you know, down and down out and like, you know, and he can drop,
you know, if you, if you need him to drop in coverage, you can do that as well. So, you know,
they're just a sentiment I got last night talking to guys is like his impact was felt by the building,
you know, the organization they felt like, you know, he really gave them a jumpstart last year,
defensively. So, I think that'll be, you know, fronts of mind if they do sign into this extension.
Yeah, I do. I think it's, I think it's close. VJ guy, because you're the one that you're a
dissenter. I just don't, it doesn't feel like a $23, $25,000,000, $1,000,000, you're got to me.
He came in, he looked good for two games and then, I don't know, I've rarely heard his name called.
Yeah, I mean, I think it's, you have to keep in mind where the ad rusher markets at,
like those guys that are like true, like ones, you know, they're in the mid 40s, you know, like
Micah Parsons at 46, five a year, Aiden Hutchinson 45, TJ Watt 41, he's going to be in that next,
you know, honestly, two tiers lower, which is Montess sweat, you throw George Carloftus in there,
a little bit over, you know, not the Josh wet range, but really, I think he, he fits in that,
in that market, especially when you consider it's a, it's a weak free agency class. He's one of the
top free agents on the market. And again, his, his impact is not maybe measured as much by, you know,
the numbers that he compiled while he was there with the Eagles in the second half of the year.
I think it's about, you know, his fit and really how he, you know, kind of unlocks the scheme for
the other guys. And I just want a little bit of a record, a little bit of a crazy headspin.
Yeah, I get it. It's fine. Yeah.
Just seems like, yeah. By the way, it looks like Indy or Tampa Bay for, try hundreds.
So not down. So the Sean Gary, who can play inside, can play both.
Yeah, they're not going to look for another edge. Yeah, I think he just is going to be making
too much. I don't think they can afford both of them. But now, I'm, I'll be interested to hear
what Fran says about Gary in a little bit, because I wonder if this is Christian Parker getting
his like Milton Williams, you know, if he's having that guy like that. That's a great cop. That's
a specialist on the inside on the inside. Yeah. Oh, he's got Quinn and Williams. I mean,
the two of them together. Quinn is like your Jalen Carter. And then, you know, this guy is kind
of like, he's going to take advantage of the one on one. Let's get it. I hate to say it. It's
that smart move. Yeah, especially it didn't cost him a whole lot. Yeah, I think it makes sense.
Yeah, I don't, I don't like it, but it's smart. Yeah. I mean, you wouldn't have liked it
if they got trade either, though, you know, you know, they're going to be better on defense
next year. I mean, that's, I know, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I'm just a little nervous.
I like, I thought, I thought we were the trust tree. And I'm getting, and I'm getting, I'm getting
mapped. Yeah. Now, that was, yeah, that was a violation of the trust tree. I remember that. Yeah,
we're, we're on the same page with that, though. I think that's going to be better defensively.
Yeah. Need more meat and guys are scared. Oh, no, protein. Fine. Cowboys. Come on. They're,
they're, they're, they're Jones running that ship. You know, one thing that stood out to me last night
was the trep, the bettremic Duffy deal. That's a big number, guys. 31 million a year for
McDuffy. I mean, he, I know he plays on the outside more now, but if I'm how he rose when I saw
that number, I'm sure he expected it, you know, he gets paid to, to project these things, but I mean,
Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No, you're like, the Q thing. Listen, Q and Cooper,
all right. Like, we're going to, we're going to pay, man. Yeah. See, like,
Quinion, I figured he resets the market, but a guy like McDuffy, Devon Wittler Spoon's coming
up to on a deal and all these guys have that inside outside versatility. So to me, it's,
it is a little worrying about what Cooper to Gene's market's going to be. I'm sure the Eagles
are going to pay it, whatever it is, but I think that price is going up, you know, really quickly.
You know, I remember when the Kyle Hamilton deal got signed at the beginning of the season,
he's at 25 million and you're saying, okay, I think the Eagles could pay that for Cooper to Gene.
That number jumped up fast. You know, I know that they're different positions, but now it makes me
wonder what Cooper to Gene's usage is going to be like. Is he going to play more safety to try and,
you know, curb this market a little bit, you know, I just, I don't know. It's a big difference.
Like if you're talking 33, 34 million versus 27, 28, if you play safety, it's, it's going to be
a really interesting contract. Dude, I like, I don't know how you get around it. Yeah. Because,
you know, we know his age is very well. Like everybody, you're paying into 30s for Cooper.
Let's not get it twisted. Out of care, how many reps you got him at safety? You're paying for
Cooper. Cooper. Cooper is a rock star. The kids are rock star. The kids can do anything.
There's no way in the world you're getting around it. Like you're paying a minute.
Q and quinoa. I mean, quinoa and Cooper, you're, you're going to back up the truck.
Yeah. And that's just for me. It's going to be an expensive secondary.
That's another reason why I just am not buying them drafting a corner high on the draft.
No, it's, it's, they're not going to be able to pay all those guys. I think they have to keep
recycling these veteran guys on low, low contracts because you know, those guys are going to be
expensive. And how we can pull this off with this most money on defense. I mean, he's going to
have to, he's got to re up jail and jail and hurts next year, right? It's going to be like a 60,
65 million dollar quarterback. I don't know about that. Yeah. Those numbers are scary, man.
Yeah. That's why I don't think I don't know. Well, it depends on how we does with Manion.
I don't think that's a locket by any stretch. Yeah.
What do you think? It's, it's a kind of reminds me of the Jalen Carter conversation where it's like,
it's not straightforward. It's not a straightforward decision. I don't think I would be, you know,
clamoring to extend him right now. I don't know if he's going to push for it. That's the,
that's the, that's the unknown is, does Jalen come to the table and say, you know, I want a market
correction on my deal. You know, there have been players who signed bigger deals over me at this
point. I don't know. For me, I think it's probably one that you revisit next year to, you know,
update the guarantees, update the annual value. But yeah, if it's something that Jalen pushes for
this off season, I don't know what the Eagles would say. Hmm. What do you think about the,
the tight ends? Well, either of them come back grandson or Calcutta. I mean, grandson was decent
on special teams. Maybe you feel like you don't want to, you don't want to turn over the whole
room. Calcutta are like, if they're bringing him back, it's as the third tight end and not as a,
not in a blocking role. So I mean, I wouldn't rule it out. But I really think they just have to turn
the room over, you know, and that's the other thing with this AJ thing lingering is it does kind of
make it less likely to me that they're bringing Goddard back unless they're really confident that
they can get an AJ deal done later in the off season. Yeah, I, well, I know they're both,
you can't really lose, you can't lose both of them. Yeah, especially with how like,
resistant Jalen is to throwing to new targets, you know, like with, it takes some time to build
that trust and Goddard has been, you know, kind of his fall back, you know, in a way, like he is
like the, the safety blanket out there for him sometimes. So now, I mean, if you think you're
trading AJ, I think you do bring Goddard back. But if you haven't made the AJ move yet, there is,
you know, that's not, that's a, that's a tricky situation and advocate.
Yeah, I, you know, my best advice is like, after the draft, and you kind of know who's in your room,
like wherever new tight ends, the new receivers, that whole group, if I was Jalen,
I get everybody together. And I would be throwing, I would, twice the, twice during the off season,
I would host to get together. And I'd say, hey, let's go to, you know, let's go on a beach.
And he's going to take him down to Houston. Yeah, he's going to have him all come to him.
No, he needs to. But I mean, even still, like, I just, I'm a little bit scarred from like, how little
usage some of these guys have had with Jalen, you know, the new guys, like Jahan Dodson stands out,
but, you know, there have been examples over the past three years where he doesn't like,
it doesn't seem like he builds chemistry with guys as quickly as he has to.
I mean, in his new offense, like, and you're going to have new faces.
He's, you know, like, you're going to have to get as much connection as possible.
You're going to have to, you know, a lot of guys, I've done it, a lot of quarterbacks have done it.
Has he hosted any of these get-togethers?
He has earlier in his career. He's had guys down in Houston.
It doesn't happen the last few years.
I remember guys, I mean, I remember a couple of high-profile quarterbacks getting everybody together.
A lot of times they would go to Southern California going to beat you.
Yeah, I don't think it's been the whole group necessarily, but, you know, part, like,
you know, there's a few receivers who come down to Houston and throw with them.
I agree with you. I think it's got to be like the full group.
It's got to be a big thing, you know, trying to make sure that they build chemistry,
because he's going to have at least one, if not two major pass catchers, new pass catchers,
that are going to be high volume guys in that offense.
Yeah, I mean, with, with this new offense and like, there's a lot of work to be done
in this thing. It's, it's con. And any seconds here, like, we're looking at a tamper.
And like, when you look at that, that receiver market, anything else kind of staying out to you?
Yeah, I mean, Fran has mentioned Romeo, sorry, not Romeo.
Romeo does probably that, that first here, I like him, but I don't think they're going to be in his
market. Yeah, they're going to be a market for him.
Yeah, Fran's mentioned Brandon cooks a couple of times.
He's someone that, that would interest me as a, a field stretcher. And again, he's,
you want him to be your number three or your number four. You don't want him as a number two.
I don't think you're getting a number two in free agency, though.
No, no, you know, you're, that's if you're going to do that, you're going to do it in the draft.
You're going to trade for somebody's trade. Like, I can see how it was trade for number two.
Yeah, no, I mean, Brian Thomas Jr. makes a lot of sense as a, as, you know, an upside play that
probably wouldn't cost you a whole lot. But yeah, I mean, like, Marquis Brown, it was another name
we threw around Christian Kirk. These are three or fours. I think cooks is probably the one I like
in that group. But yeah, I just, I don't think it's not a great free agency class. It's not,
it's, you're not getting the number two out of this free agency class unless you're,
you know, making a big signing for Alex Pearson. I don't see him doing that. So, yeah, I mean,
or Romeo dobs. But again, I don't know if they're going to be shopping that in that part of the
market. I think those guys are going to get paid. I agree. I don't, I don't see dobs. I, I don't see him.
I don't, I don't, I can see, I don't have these always like cooks, you know, yeah. He was, he's
college teammates with Sean Manion. What's that? He was college teammates in Oregon State with Sean
Manion. Yes, he was, man. Yeah, that's crazy. That's, that's, that's crazy. Um,
uh, the other cornerbacks by anything that other cornerback.
Yeah, we went through some of the names. The, the tricky thing with this year's market is like
it's guys who have had, who have injury histories is like who you're going to have to take
flyers on. Uh, Trayvon Digs and Marshawn Lathamore being the two that I think would make the most
sense. Um, if you were willing to spend a little bit more, uh, I think Greg Newsom is probably the name
that you circle there. I like Greg Newsom a lot. Uh, but I think he's probably not in their market.
So I think the Trayvon Digs one, I, or Russell Douglas is another one you could throw out there. He
doesn't have the injury history. Uh, you know, I'm curious what kind of scheme fit he'd be. I know
he's, he's usually, you kind of expect him to be like an underneath zone coverage corner and be
physical. Um, but yeah, those are the guys you're probably talking about. I, I wouldn't be, you
know, dismissive of the Trayvon digs thing. He's got the draft pedigree. Yeah. He's had really high
level seasons. It's just a matter of, you know, where he's at health wise. Yeah. Yeah. I, now I,
looks like I can see that. Yeah. He's Russell. Man, that's nuts. He's having, he's had a nice
career for himself. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's just funny. Like those guys have been around for a
long time. You know, yeah. No, but that's what you're getting. He's of always had quarters that
have had extended careers. Yeah. Yeah. You're right. It's like whether he or otherwise, you know,
they kind of just hang around the league. Um, I, I mean, we're so, I heard a thought that he's
going to give a deal in Pittsburgh. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No, I'm not sure he's in there. He's in
their range. And then I know that a cater co co has been somebody floated as well. I heard that
he's really only an inside guy. Like, you know, you're not signing him to play on the outside,
even though he's got experience with the McFangio and Miami, I don't really need an outside guy.
You have the inside guy with Cooper, right? You need an outside guy and someone that's just
serviceable. Like, I don't need like, you know, again, cost, cost, somebody's cost effective.
Yeah. Yeah. The thing that's tricky if you, if you went with digs or Latamore, Latamore,
especially is like, you're just, you don't know if they're going to be healthy. Um, but I think
digs would make some sense. I think, uh, you know, you could do worse at that outside corner spot.
Cowboys are sending a 27 fourth round pick to the packers. Okay. Okay. So a little bit higher.
It's worse than that. Man. I don't have that deal for them. Yeah. I kind of like that.
Yeah. Yeah. I, yeah. That interior, for that interior rush is going to be really, really good
next year. I mean, it was good last year. I mean, no, they're just loading up every song. Gary,
that group. It's going to be so annoying for Eagles fans watching the Cowboys build like an
Eagles defense light. You know, like, they are just going to build it exactly the way that
Fangio built his defense. Yeah. When Christian went there, I was like, oh, I love the guy.
But I was like, oh, no. That's not good. Big Farts Jones, chime in and says,
Cuzz is going to wear a 10 gallon hat soon. Guy loves Dallas. Okay.
Forci. How do you could show me being afraid that can on having me also? How do you be,
how do you mean me being afraid to show it to me liking them? I'm afraid of
Farts. He's a ballbreaker. Listen, I have to live this. I have to bear the burden of this.
So you guys can live in ignorance of bliss. All right. We're just trying to inform, right? Yeah,
like we have to actually pay. Yeah. I forecast how guys are going to be. So you guys can just live
blissfully along. I know what's going on. Yeah. I can't wait to understand how the league is
will be in the future. Yeah. Yeah. He says, yeah. Cuzz.
You'd be guy. Hey, mother.
Oh, that's great. All right. Anything else I'm trying to think of anything else we're watching today.
Um, you know, guys like Nikobe, guys like Reed, you know, I feel like every year you get one
surprise signing really early, you know, right around this time where somebody signs a deal that
you didn't expect. So, you know, some of those guys are guys. I'll be keeping my eye on throughout
the day. And then you're really just watching around the division, you know, see if the commanders
run it back with a bunch of old free agents and try to make that work. See what the Cowboys are up to.
So yeah, a lot of a lot of a lot of things to happen over the next couple days. I'll be excited.
Is there a threshold with Reed? Like I see some people say he's seven million. Some people say ten.
Is there a number you think where it's too much for the birds? Yeah, I think the Eagles are
expecting him to be closer to that $10 million mark. And yeah, I don't know. I think that that's
going to be close to their walk away number. They don't sign, you know, they don't I our former
colleague Zach Burman has done a good job laying this out that they don't sign a lot of guys in that
mid mid tier market, you know, the middle class of the NFL. So, um, I know that Reed is valued in
that building. He's got intangible values and, you know, directing traffic on the back. And he kind
of is a leader back there. Obviously, he was a captain last season. So I'm sure that they'd love
to have him back. But yeah, the finances, it's going to be tricky. You know, if he has a real
market, I could see them getting out price there. All right. Um, we'll be fun. Then what's your deal
today? Yeah, we're we're live at noon today. A little three hour free agency special. Yeah,
we got Fran and I think we have a professor in. Uh, yeah. So we'll have some some special guests and
yeah, we'll be reacting live to all the stuff that's happening today. All the crazy. All right.
I love it. I love it. Uh, Fran is coming up next all week long. You and Fran will be on the
school on the show. So let, let's do it. Let's just cover this thing. All right. You know, but
the same. We're going to have these daily check ins. There's always going to be stuff to talk
about the next couple of days. So yeah, excited for it. Love it. Love it. Thanks, buddy. You're the best.
Yes. Okay. Smith. All right. So yeah, it's going to be fun. EJ on top of all the news.
Franny bow to decipher it. Mm-hmm. All right. Like that's that's the all week long. Let's go.
About. All right. First, uh, Fran is coming up, but first of word from our friends.

Who's there? Just starting. Just starting tools.
What am I getting? What am I getting? I can't wait for this stuff.
What's your walk away? You got like a bunch of agents with reader. You in the 7 million?
You in the 10? Are you in a 10 million for read? I mean, I'm hoping not to go to 10. Yeah, I mean,
hoping to go get lower. I love read. I mean, I love the guy. I think he's a great blue guy.
Yeah, he's perfect for this team. You know, like I want him to do well, but like it's like,
all right, like I need you, but I need I need to make a certain number.
Makes sense. I'm complete. So, all right.
We got our man, Jules. It's great. Joining us now on the extended mobile calling line
all week long. We're going to have him decipher like EJ and I will go over the news.
And then the franney and I will kind of decipher it. And what it means? Yeah,
franney's going to tell us the impact Gary will have on your squad. The cowboys this year.
And how that affects the, you know, want me to punch in the face.
So does the chat want you want me to punch you?
That would be on live television. Yeah, that would be all thousand percent.
Yeah, we do the slap fight on live television.
At least, I'm too good looking for that stuff. Come on. Yeah.
Thank you. All right. Just stay away from me.
Brandy Films.
They do not crave food, not drink for nourishment, for the existence solely on the globe of the
all 22 monitors. They are the leatherheads. And he is franney films.
I can say that if I punch Fiji in the face, Fran, that
I could, my defense would be he was calling me a cowboy fan. And I saw red.
And I don't know what else to do. I just, I had momentary. What is it? What is it when you
was a crime of passion? Yes. Right. Like what is it momentary? That's the reason.
You know, like you just let you lost. You just stats. Yeah.
Listen, if we're trying to do numbers, like if we're trying to get raised the the viewership
on the YouTube, I mean, yeah, you punching VG. Let's try. Let's try something different.
Let's throw stuff at a wall. See what sticks.
Well, once he talks about it, it's premeditated assault once he talks about it.
So his defense is out the window.
Sorry, Fran. Let's get to it. We will need you this week for us to decipher what happens,
right? Like so, EJ and I will go through the news. Then you and I will kind of decipher it.
See what it means, what it translates into. Let's start with the big trade Dallas just made
with Richon Gary. So I mean, next to Quintet Williams, kind of a kind of scary.
Yeah, I've always viewed Gary as a good player, not a great player. I think that contract is
probably a little rich for my blood based off the off the the the the final product. You know,
he's got talent. We know he's big. He's explosive. He's got power, not a refined player,
not a nuanced player. But what I will say about Richon Gary is that in that scheme with Christian
Parker is the defensive coordinator, you know, you would say the same same thing here in Philadelphia,
if you're a land here, he's the type of guy where he's going to give you good effort against the run.
And if you're going to ask for like a pocket pusher, like a guy that can just like hold up and
allow you to play with lighter boxes, I think he does give you that. Now is he always the most
disciplined player? No. But I do think that that's a guy that it's certainly an upgrade for them.
And they're looking to try and replenish that defensive line room. It makes sense, especially
given the fact that not just Christian Parker, but other members of that Cowboys coaching staff
have a history with Richon Gary. So they know what they're buying as well.
All right. Let's go. Let's start with potential Eagles stuff. All right. So Jordan Davis,
what was your reaction? Jordan Davis had that number? I was surprised by the number personally.
You know, and I think that and look, I was all aboard the Jordan Davis train this past year.
I loved what I saw from Jordan Davis. I will say like that, that is the higher number than what
I expected. And I think that when you're looking at certainly like the impact that he makes on the
field in the locker room, like you take all of that. There's a he's an easy player to root for.
If you're a fan, like you should be happy that Jordan Davis is going to be an eagle for the foreseeable
future. I do think you know, and I do wonder like when you see that number and what he's compared to
around the other guy, his peers at the position, those guys are out on the field and are disruptive
players against they run in the past on a three down basis. And we just haven't seen that from
Jordan Davis yet. In my opinion, if you're giving Jordan Davis this contract, you think there's even
more meat on the but like he was the best shape of his life last year. And it was the best season he's
ever played like college or pro. And you think that they're still like the arrow is still pointing up.
So that that's the way I look at it is that they give him this number. They give him this contract
because they think there's even more for him to tap into. And they think more importantly,
that he can tap into that that he will tap into that. And so that's kind of how I look at it.
I am a little surprised. I do think that there's a, you know, one of the outcomes of this situation
is that they're not happy with what they've got out of that contract in two, three years. But
that's the other thing too. It was that it's only a three year extension, right? So you've got
the fifth year option next year and then the contract starts. So we'll see how it plays out. But
I do think that you know, at the at the minimum, you got what you got last year and you're hoping
that he's going to reach that high ceiling. So I hear that they're looking, they're working on
an extension for Carter too, that they want to bring back Carter. I think through Rosenhaus
believes that the Eagles are the best place for Jalen Carter. You got, you know, Clint Hurt,
you got Big Dom. I think he responds well to those guys. So it's kind of a good safe place for him,
a place where he can flourish. Yeah. And my guess is if you when you pay Jalen Carter, like you're
going to be up at, if not passing Chris Jones, which he's at he's at 31 million. So if you look
at the numbers that Jordan Davis just got, which is 26 million, if you want to lower it down to like
22 and a half, 23 because of the fifth year option, like all that stuff. Okay. So he's like
right at that next year. But Jalen Carter, if you're paying him right now, like he's getting up
30 plus. And so in terms of million per year. So yeah, it makes all the sense in the world. Obviously
there's been all the stuff in the in the wind in terms of, you know, him maybe going to the
Raiders and you know, teams calling about his availability. But it makes all the sense of the world
to try and get him extended as well. Because that number is only going to go up when you see some of
the other young defensive tackles coming down the pipe. What do you make of his year last year?
Because obviously the shoulder was a big part of it. The procedures on both shoulders.
Yes. But it was it was a quiet year thoughts off with this with the the spittle. And
and kind of, you know, never really had a couple moments, but never really showed the dominant
kind of force that he was the year before. Yeah. I mean, when you're playing that position,
it's usually beneficial to have two working shoulders. And it was pretty clear that he did not
have that from the jump. And, you know, I don't know if I don't know the exact timeline in terms of
one shoulder versus the other, but it was something he dealt with early in training camp. Like,
wasn't on the field when the Eagles took the practice field at the Novakare complex in late July,
or whatever we're calling it now, they did not know. Okay. Well, it was not on the practice field
for the start of camp due to what was at the time like upper body. And so I think when you're
looking at Jalen Carter, he was never healthy. We never saw 100% Jalen Carter and even until
after he got back from injured reserve. And at that point, you're trying to get yourself into like
football shape, trusted like all that stuff. So I think you're you're hoping that last year was
the blip. And you're getting back to like the dominant guy we saw down the stretch second half
of the season in 2024. That's the guy you're getting when you get back on the field this summer.
What about that? Also, we hear that Eagles are also optimistic. They can re-sign Phillips that he
would be their edge guy. Yeah, it makes total sense because here's the thing.
When Vic Fangio gets hired and you look at the, you know, they win the Super Bowl,
those were great defense. You say like they were they was built from back to front. You look
that secondary and you had to slay already. You got you draft the two young guys and you had
the great safety play with Reed and you had CJGJ back there. He was the weakest link of that
secondary, right? Like it was just hard to fathom. But you say like, oh man, like this is not a
typical Eagles defense in that it was built from back to front. It's like, oh, that's in Vic Fangio's
image. But that is anti, that's anti the way that how he roseman and Eagles have typically operated
where it is going to be a front to back kind of operation is built on the front. Well, to me,
the way I look at it is, yeah, like that might be the vision for Vic Fangio. But how much longer
is Vic Fangio going to be a defensive coordinator? And if you're going to say like, hey, we want
to be ready for that transition, you've got to make sure that the the front is built up and ready
to roll, right? You don't want to go into an offseason where it's like, oh, like, we're not sure
what our defensive end depth looks like. If you are transitioning into a different scheme,
Jalen Phillips, they love the guy. They obviously trade forum last year. So you're already,
you put, you put some kind of down payment on the player and on the person. You liked what you got.
Obviously he's got an injury history. But my guess is that he's going to be in that, you know,
he's going to be getting around what Jordan Davis just got, right? And so, you know, it might be
more than that. So I it'll it'll be a big investment. But that's what you pay when you have a
really good player at a premium position. So it'll be interesting because if when Vic does go,
I think Clint probably has the insight track on that. Yeah. I think that it's possible when
and when you look at Clint hurt, like, the way the defense that they ran in Seattle when he was
the defensive coordinator, like how much of that was like truly his defense, right? Because it was
it was still Pete Carroll. It was and they were trying to, you know, smash different things. So
it'll be interesting to see when that transition happens. But if you're if you're how he roseman,
if you're Jeffrey Laurie, like you want to plan for all outcomes, right? And so I do think that
making sure you keep a good player in the building like Jalen Phillips, I think it makes all the
sense in the world. Um, let's look at this. Now we go offense because you're going to spend a
lot of money, right? That line is going to be a very expensive. And then you got two monster 30
million dollar plus contracts coming with Cooper and Quenya. So that's heavy investment,
which is unlike the Eagles to be super invested like that in your defense. That's not been the case.
Which is why in my first mock draft in January, I had them drafting a wide receiver in the first
round. And I said, if it's not a receiver, it's going to be an offensive lineman. It's going to be
a tight end. It's good. You need to get if you're if the if the books are going to shift this way,
where all the heavy numbers now are going to be on the defensive side. Well, now you need the young
cheap talent to be on the offensive side. And so I would be surprised if we don't see, you know,
the Eagles are going to have what four picks on the first two days of the draft. If three of those
first four picks aren't on offense, I will be surprised. I think that that's where the young
talent is going to have to be. I agree. I think if not all four, I'm completely with you. I think
he goes heavy investment draft and all the resources offensively. Do you see and is there any
receivers that you like in free agency will cross off. They're not going to get dubs. They're not
going to be in that market and or peers. I don't even think Pierce is a fit next to Devante.
Assuming AJ gets no. Yeah, it's it to me. Like then that's why, you know, all the reports now are
that it's like at a standstill. There's a stall in the AJ Brown situation in that if the Eagles,
we're going to move on to maybe like you need to know that you're going to be in the out Pierce
market and the Romeo dobs market. Now like it because you need to know like, are we giving out
that money? Are we not giving out that money? Because I'll appear. It's going to get big, big
dollars. Romeo is going to get he's going to get more money than probably what the talent
wants, right? I think that's just the nature of the free agency market. And so I think when you look
at those guys, like if you knew like you were going to go in with that need, then you know,
that's what that's one thing. But they can't give out that number to that player like that with
AJ Brown and the roster. And while still giving out these big extensions, you know, that that was
never in the cards. And so if you're going to go receiver here in the next few days, like my
guess is you're going like bargain basement shopping. And if that's the case, then just wait. Like
you know, I don't think you need to like necessarily push the issue there. You know, and I think
that there are some veterans, there are some older players that they might tap into later in the
off season. You know, I've floated the idea when I was down at the senior ball, like Brandon Cooks
was Shaw Magnus number one receiver when he was at Oregon State. You don't need to race to sign
Brandon Cooks right now played for a couple of teams last year and did five. So he was the
best receiver above all. Oh, right. That's what I mean. Like he was, you know, he's still fine at
that in that role. But you're not, you know, that's going to be like a one year, like three million
dollar deal that you signed, you know, on April 3rd, not necessarily on March 9th. So, you know,
I think that when you're looking at what they can do at receiver, I would be surprised as they
were active at that position here this week. You think Darnell Mooney is too expensive for them?
Probably, you know, Mooney has turned into a nice player. Again, like we know, like, I like Mooney.
I brought him up. I brought him up in the past. I like him. Yeah. I like Mooney too. I think that he
really took a big step in his game from Chicago to Atlanta. I saw big strides as a route runner.
So I he was really banged up last year and really was never healthy throughout the course of the year.
And obviously, at that number, it made sense for Ian Cunningham and for Atlanta to move on.
But again, like I just, to me, the contract that he is likely to get,
I don't think he's going to break the bank, but I don't know if the Eagles are shopping in that
aisle when you still have AJ Brown on the roster. Yeah. Yeah. Again, I think the impasse is,
well, first, I think New England is it wants to give up this year's first and how he wants
that New England was 27 first. And that's the crux of the impasse. I also think that how he
just because I waited out like I'm good. Like I'll just wait this whole thing out because he's
going to try to figure out a way to do it after June want to get some sort of designation after June
want. And look, if and well, that's the big thing will be mentioned out pierce. Like if out
pier signs into England for, you know, four years, a hundred million, I'm just thinking of throwing
numbers out, which is kind of what we're looking at for out pierce, which is crazy. But you know,
to me, if he signs that deal with New England today, all right, New England doesn't have the
same urgency to bring an AJ Brown. Like I would rather have AJ Brown personally, but to me,
if he goes to Tennessee or if he goes to, you know, Kansas City, I'm just throwing names out,
he goes charging. Yeah. Now all of a sudden, New England is kind of in the game of wide receiver
musical chairs, New England's kind of looking around with an empty chair, you know, without a seat
to sit down and I think that's where maybe they, they kind of bow to how he wishes there at that
point. Yeah. And I think I was playing smart. I also think, again, I, even if New England does
sign pierce, they're not going to be the only team that needs to need AJ Brown. So I think there's
going to be a market for him. I think that's why how he's playing hardball. Yeah. It's to me,
it makes it because at the end of the day, you can go back to AJ and say like, hey, like, hey,
man, I'm like, we tried. And you, it's been, it's been in the, in the wind for a while now.
Like everyone knows that we were trying to make this work. We had all these discussions, but
no one likes you more than we do. And we, we want you here. And so if it's something,
we were trying to, we weren't, we weren't trying to dump you. We weren't in the rush to do that.
You're the one who, you know, required to request this thing. So, you know, we'll see,
we'll see exactly how it all unfolds here. But this week, we'll be big. Go with that and
determine what that landing spot's going to be. Well, the other piece of it is that you got to
Goddard thing that is also tied to it because of the way the contracts are constructed.
Right. And because right now with the way that Goddard, you mentioned, like with the way
that Goddard's contract works, if, you know, when, when that contract expires, like that's,
there's a significant amount of dead money that the Eagles take on. And obviously it would take
on more dead money by trading AJ Brown for this year. They would love for that to be a post-June
first. Like there's, there's lots of mechanics there with the cap that, you know, I'm not as well
versed in. But yeah, and that's why, like I would be surprised if they were active in freeings,
you for receiver because they got to turn over this whole tight end room as well. And my guess is
you're doing that with, if it's not the top of the market, it's one of two guys at the second
and third level, the second and third tier of the market. So, yeah, they've got work to do
certainly at that room with pass catchers in this, in this offense. People were talking about,
you know, if you came up earlier in the show, that would you give Jalen, Jalen's going to want to
have the extension? And my stance is, I don't think they're going to give him an extension.
I don't think that happens. Yeah, I think that right now, it would make sense, especially with
the new offense and new identity, like with so many things like up in the air, I don't know that
they're necessarily like jumping into, like, say, like, all right, let's get this done to free up
a little bit more money for us to push all our chips in. That would surprise me a little bit.
Yeah, well, no, I thought you wanted to go. Oh, no, no, no, no, no, you look at, you look
through a runner. Oh, no, all right. So when, if you look at this, the rest of the landscape
across the league, Rams, and you know what's weird, I heard Rams kind of kicking its
hires on AJ too, which is, I, dude, I don't even know how that would work. AJ, Puka, Devon
Tay Adams, he was somebody young guys could play. Yeah, I mean, Devon Tay, I'm pretty sure
Devon Tay Adams is a free agent next year. So he's going into his country. How much longer does
he have? You know, and so I think, and look, this is a team, I think that there's pushing their
chips in that one of the things that you has been kind of bounced around is that, you know,
this is like one final year with Stafford, but also like potentially one final year with McVeigh,
and he might step away when McVeigh, when, when Stafford retires, just to kind of give
himself a mental reset. So there's a lot of, there's a lot of stuff that's interesting with that
team. And obviously they, you make a trade like that for Trent McDuffy. I think that with, if
it's going to be that first right, you know, they've got a pick. What is it? 11 way, you know,
they're in the top 12. They are looking to acquire a pass catcher. Now, you're not getting the,
you're not trading AJ Brown for the eighth pick. My guess is, is that the, with them trading for
McDuffy, that they're probably not as interested in AJ Brown, but maybe they're trading of the,
you know, a future, a future one, that'll, that'll be it shouldn't watch. Yeah.
Would you think of the McDuffy, the 100 million?
I, you know, it's funny. I was, I was texting with EJ last night. I wonder, you know,
I, my guess is how he sees that number that McDuffy got last night where he's resets the ceiling
for the, for the corner market. He's like, geez. My, my, my, my response to EJ was, I wonder if how
he immediately goes to Vic. He's like, yeah, let's, let's move coop to safety. Let's,
let's replace, uh, read bloggers. I just get that number down a little bit. Uh, so now he's
setting though, he's setting the safety number as opposed to the corner number. But, um, you know,
I got news for you. Uh, no one in the agent. Do I know the agent?
I ain't gonna do anything. Well, I look, when you look at, uh,
at McDuffy, he's a, he's a really good plug. I mean, he's a great plug. And what he did,
what he did for that Kansas City defense over the last few years, he's extremely flexible.
He can line up inside, outside. My guess is is that with the Rams, he's gonna get a lot of work
in the slot. You know, they, they played more dime than basically anybody in the league last year.
So he's gonna get plenty of work inside. And that's why I do think that his, his contract and
Devon Witherspoon's contract, we're just coming up as well for Seattle. Those are two guys that
will play outside and then we'll play inside as well. With Dejean, he is mostly outside.
Like all, you know, heavy, heavy dose outside only goes, goes, or sorry, inside and only goes outside
and a pinch. How does that impact like where he is on the spectrum with Quinion Mitchell? Uh,
you know, look again, like, Pastor Tan is up at 26 million, I believe, uh, you know,
so aware about it right now. Um, it's gonna be fascinating to see where those guys do end up.
I mean, the, the cap is gonna be, uh, even bigger by the time we get to that next off season.
So those numbers are gonna be pretty big. Uh, and it's, it's a lot of money, but those are two
great players. All right. Let's go back to the leak and some of the quarterbacks. So two
we get to release, uh, you look at that weird quarterback market that's out there. Kyler Murray
and cousins and, uh, you know, two, uh, and Geno Smith. We're, we're, how do you think the
quarterback market shakes out? Well, that's what made the Daniel Jones move last week with Indian
apolis. So curious. Like, uh, I look, it's a transition tag. So, you know, they can, they can,
for what I understand, like, you can lift that at any point. Um, but would you rather pay
$37 million for, uh, for Daniel Jones or literally the minimum for Kyler Murray, right? Like,
it's, it's one of those things where, you know, I don't know if like the dollars and cents, uh,
like ultimately make all that much sense. Um, but I think that when you look at it, uh,
not a surprise with two, uh, not a surprise with Geno, you're gonna ride with Mendoza when you
take him number one, um, you know, I think that Minnesota probably gets involved with this, uh,
with this veteran market, uh, they'll try and, you know, plug and play there with it with one of
these vets, uh, to go in and challenge McCarthy. Um, outside of that, it's, I, where these guys end
up is gonna be really interesting. I think that Kyler could benefit, honestly, from going to a place
to just kind of like, hey, like, let me sit in the background, let me benefit from, uh, you know,
whether it's McVeigh or Shanahan or whatever. And Johnson, yeah, rehab my image a little bit,
and then come back and attack it here in 2027.
Does, um, does, uh, what's his name from Green Bay? Uh, where does he go?
Malik Willis. Yeah, Malik.
To me, it's either going to be Arizona, which has been a lot of buzz for that. Um, Arizona
or potentially Miami, uh, where they, uh, yeah, coach and GM are both from Green Bay and got
to see Malik Willis up close the last couple of years. You know, it's interesting because
it sounds like he's going to get a deal similar to what like Justin Fields got last year, similar
what Daniel Jones got last year. Uh, you know, when he played for Green Bay the last couple of
years, like they did an outstanding job with like the, the game script and it was like, I think
he, I mean, that's a quarterback friendly offense. I mean, yeah, I, but he, I mean, they,
they ran the ball heavy. He, he, he never had more than like 23 dropouts in the game. Um,
so that's, uh, to me, that, that is a little bit tough. Would you, again, like Kyler, if you're
Arizona, like Kyler Murray, and I know he's frustrating, but it's kind of like the devil you know
versus the devil you don't, um, that, that, that's, that's a tough, cold swallow. If you're
going to give a lot of money, uh, to, uh, to Malik Willis, so it's, that, that's going to be
interesting to watch in the list a couple days as well. Yeah, they're a mass man. There, but,
but I have to be honest with you, I, I, there's no way in the world I could have some of Kyler Murray
another year. No, I frustrating player. He is because, listen, he could move and he's got a,
he's got a terrific arm, quick release, right? But he just doesn't know where he's, what he's doing.
He just doesn't put the work in. He thought it like, you know, that, that video game stuff,
I heard it was real, man. Like there was a, there was a lot of truth to that. Like it's a shame
because the kids got, you know, some ability small, but there's things that you could do with them.
Yeah. Yeah. And that's why to me, the, the landing spot for him is going to be interesting
and it's going to be telling it does he end up getting a shot to be a starter or is it more like,
hey, we want to bring in and you know, maybe you're, you're our backup here for 2026 and it's a,
a one year kind of proven situation for him. So that, that, that market's going to be interesting.
Yeah, that would be my, my advice to him would be dude, just do a restart with your career.
Go somewhere, learn how to play quarterback. All right. Yeah. Learn how to play because, you know,
he doesn't move. He's got nice subtle movements when he does it, when he does it, like, you know,
learn, learn, learn, go relearn, you know, Mike, Vic, Mike, Vic, when he came to Philadelphia,
he, he's talking about all the time, how much, if I, if I play for Andy from the beginning,
I'd be a whole different quarterback. And look, we've seen over the last few years,
guys that have, you know, Sam Arnold, there's a great example. I just want the Super Bowl,
with what he did just by like kind of, all right, let me, let me, let me, let me,
let's put, hit the brakes for a little bit. Let me give it a mental reset. Let me see the game
a little bit. And then, you know, we went on to, to future success. Yeah. Yeah.
Friendly great stuff. 12 o'clock today for the big free agency show, tampering edition.
tamper. Awesome. Just awesome stuff. We'll be bugging you all week, buddy. A lot of fun, man.
Appreciate it, pal. Yeah. Absolutely. Real quick. Also, I just want to make, let, let our audience know.
My latest big board just went up. And if you are a diehard, you get access to the full,
the full top 100. If you're not a diehard, we have the top 15 available. So you get a little bit
of a sneak peek, but become a diehard and you get the top 100. Obviously, you get access to the
whole guide and everything as well. Oh, I love it. I love this. When you, uh, the next week,
because we're busy with free agency, but next week, we'll dive into the draft. You know,
when I, because I did my, uh, I got another grind session, both of these in LA for the NFL
network. He's coming back and later, uh, toward the end of the week, we have another grind session.
So I want to compare notes with you. Beautiful. Sounds like a plan. All right, buddy. You're in a man.
30,000. See you guys. That's great, man. Did new, new day. Hey, I'm in here looking at
a story. His scatter report list right now. I love the player comps. He gives you
a helljerk frog edge. I don't know who he is. Player comp. Supercharged. Key on weight.
I like that comp.
Jules. Car now. Car now. Who's he? David. It's like nails to the chalkboard for me. It's just that.
Right. Why is that Peter Woods detaq? He compared to Tommy Harris. The mommy. Right.
Will you take a shot at a moment? You don't like at a moment?
He's a little garlic on. Hey, by the way, do you know what today is? Is your favorite day?
What? It's a national football. Oh god. I'm going home. They're all over Fox News this
morning with the meatballs, meatballs, meatballs, meatballs. There's a day for everything.
That's ridiculous. Every food group's got their national day, but I'm going to be fan of
the meatball sandwich. I'll be having them tonight. Celebrate. I hate them. I know. I know.
I hate them. I can't stand them. I love you. Meatball. Oh, and of course, my man, Eddie Wright,
has a picture of me. Look, as a cowboy, you got to tell me the best is a picture of me with a cowboy
hat. A chicken par. A chicken par. And the. No, he pay for that. Just the next
chicken par. I hope you didn't pay for that. Oh, everything I hate. Call you cowboy coast.
Yeah. Ava the chargers. You gave up the charger. Hey, everything I hate. Right.
I think here's the business. Murph on the way.

Uncle Frank, of course, I like meatballs, but they're you being used as a slight

You're already all my nerves. The Monday started and I can't even join free agency.
You know, tempering. It's the frenzy. Close to you for Asian frenzy. Oh, God, this guy.
Hey, yeah, up speed of the go on with gas. So the Georgia Southern. They've won gas. So they've won five in a row.
I think it's on my there. This will be that. So they've won five games in five days. No team is ever
asked for one six games in six days. They played a night against ruin. They're getting six and a half.
Take them out right today. Let's go. Yeah, it's the gauntlet's a cool thing. Yeah, the gauntlet's a cool thing.
There's some good stuff. Like, I love the kind of tournaments because this is like
the little appetizer controversy with Boston upset Navy. Clock operator, a little slow with the
triggers. Start the clock a little late through tomorrow. The game started 1230. Big 12th of it.
Big baler and Arizona state tomorrow. And then it's a million games all day long. You got a
zillion of them. Love it. Love it. Where do we got our squads going? Joe's got a good,
I think Joe got a good, um, a seeding in their bracket. The side of the bracket they're in the
good championship game against. I think they're form one against those teams. Yeah.
Look at this man. Games all day tomorrow. Yeah, if he starts what Friday maybe
we got a chance. I mean, look at it. It's all day long. That's incredible.
Next week, it's gonna be fun. Yeah. I keep living. You don't want to, you don't want to expand the,
uh, no, no, no, no, no, no tournament. No, well, you want to expand it towards us. I like
the way it is. I like my Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday. It's nice. It's neat. It's easy four days.
I begs back. He's got the shorts on. Man, he was in a good time with the shorts in his concert.
Oh, man, he's, look at that look. He's quick at the shorts.
You guys, he just came from Afer, Arizona. He's got some pale legs. He's like my legs out there.
He did a golf trip with his buddies. Hey, people are asking me in the chat,
multi-times where they can find this shirt. I don't know. I don't know. Who designed it? I found it
on a random vendor at the punk rock flea market. So I can't help you all. It's high hopes, man.
I love it. We've been added like smoking a bone.
I got high hopes. I saw it. What's the one with the fanatic in electric chair?
Oh, that's the slime one that I got. I didn't get it yet, but I dig by it. That was a cool one.
They want to know. There's sitting eyes 80 to one. No way. Odds of bro in sandals today.
I think he's in. He probably in. I think he's 70. I think we had him the other day. Bro,
he had his shoes off in his office because he said his feet were hot and his,
he lifted up his foot and his socks were leaving wet marks on the floor. No, he's got sneakers on.
Oh, he's got sneakers on. He's got sneakers. Whoa, you got them dogs and sneakers today?
Yes. So next tomorrow problem flop. He's saying he needs to order new flops for this season.
Yeah, he had his shoes off and they're like, and his socks on the, first of all,
the floor here is nasty. Like you got rats all over the floor. It's everywhere. I mean,
it's, it's just nasty. And he's got his socks out on the floor.
Cool. You got hot. Yeah, but then when you lift it up here, when you lift it up,
your socks are like puddles underneath you from the sweat. It's like, it's like VT pants.
You're rich. Oh, they're so bad right now. Look, if I touch this, I leave marks on my thing.
Guys, no worse. Yeah, yeah. I got the clam hands.
You need to get a fan. They're wet. Gross. They are.
Oh, I don't know. My boy. All right. Give me some of them.
I need a towel afterwards. Big shit guy.
What about him? He's happening. Would you have fun just coming back? I think. Yeah.
I think it's happening. All right. Lots to get to.
We got Murph with us. Jules. He's logging on now.
People are surprised. Bro has an office. Yes, he does.
Yeah, he does have an office.
Tasty cake, dumb. I'm with VG.
Tournament is perfect as this. Oh, yeah.
Because you guys are rich. I change.
You are your anti-chains. It's perfect. I love you guys.
My initial reaction was to keep it the same.
But then when you start to think about it, you can have, you can replicate Thursday Friday
to Tuesday Wednesday. Dude, I'm already asking a lot out of my liver for Thursday Friday,
Saturday, Sunday. There's no way to be yourself. I got to think about everyone else's
livers. We're on the same out there. Come on. You can't have six days of 12 hours a day of
tournament. Well, it's a bad game. That's all too much. Ten games a day.
I have to double my milk. By the way, can I make one? I need to have one personal note out here.
In fact, my boy Bob needs jobs. He loves Bob Marino.
Who is, you might have heard our commercials together. My childhood friend, Bob Marino,
of all the different backs he was at, everything down the spring garden lending.
So his daughter, Victoria, got married Saturday night. We were all there. I love,
love, we, like our kind of little family to get together. It was beautiful wedding.
And Bob and Victoria danced. Oh, Rocky. What? What? That's awesome.
So it was awesome. It was incredible. It was the part of the song that was real dramatic.
So and it was beautiful. And it was like so beautiful. That's cool. Yeah.
Yeah, he killed it with his speech. Oh, yeah, I'm sure he killed it. He was great.
Nice. Yeah, it was a beautiful night on all the boys there. Yeah. Yeah, it was great.
Cool. A lot of fun. So all right, we got Murph with us on the Xfinity mobile call in line.
Our man, a great columnist from the inquire, David Murphy.
Hey, good morning, nice. Morning, fellas. How are we doing? How's my brother?
You good? We miss you last week. We're doing great, man. We're doing real good.
Yeah, last week we had a little childcare overlap. So couldn't break away.
Yeah, well, we, you know, we love you. So one of the, the one of the kids back up
or Murphy Mondays. All right. First, let's take Eagles. Let's discuss your thoughts on their initial
attack of free agency, which appears to be resounding their defensive front.
Yeah, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm curious to see how they go about this. I just, I mean, we all know kind of,
kind of the, the illusory, illusory nature of the, the cap at times, but you, you kind of look at
where they set up and it's really hard to know, you know, how much they're going to have the play
with, given that they have, you know, potentially three future historic contracts coming up
in the next couple of years with Jalen Carter, Quinion Mitchell and Cooper DeGene. And it's just,
I mean, I looked, yes, I spent a lot of time, yesterday looking to try to find a comp for, for a
team that, you know, can sign three guys at potentially market setting contracts on the same
side of the ball within a couple of years. I just couldn't find it. So I don't know. I don't know
how much money they're going to have to spend. I mean, we all know what they need, you know,
and I think the tight end position is, is, you know, number one at the top of their list. But I
really don't know how much money they have to play with. Well, like I'm hearing that Carter gets
extended now. They're going to probably, I think they're, I know they're working on something with
Phillips. And like to your point, Cooper and Quinion will be the probably the most expensive,
certainly, Quinion will be. So you got 30 million dollar a year. Carter will be a 30 plus
million dollar a year player. So you got like major, major money tied up on this, on this defensive
side of the ball, which I like, but you just got to make sure that you get it right on the other
reds. Yeah, and that's the thing. I mean, we saw last year, you know, I mean, we're not we're
not talking about adding anybody, you know, it's just resigning the guys they have. And last year
they weren't good enough those guys on the offensive side of the ball. And so, you know,
you figure you have to do something to switch it up or change it up or or give yourself a bit.
Now, maybe you're just banking on the offensive line being healthier. You know, I don't know,
but, but I do know that that look, we've all heard the AJ Brown stuff. You know, even if he's
here this year, you know, it's just going to be next year then, you know, and you're going to have
to replace him at some point. So I'm just very curious to see how this, I really think they're
entering a new stage kind of in their competitive cycle where they have to kind of have a, have a
little bit of a three year plan for this offense. And, and, you know, and right now it's just a
getting enough bodies to compete, you know, again, tight end. I mean, you're really going to run
it back with God or another year older and, and Calcutta who didn't give you much, you know, I,
I don't know that. Not Calcutta won't be back. And even if you do, even if you do, you know,
Johan Dotson wasn't good enough and he's not even here, you know, so you need, you got to do
something. So I'm very interested to see how it starts, starts to unfold. I know. And the other
aspect is like, when we're talking about all this money on the defensive side of the ball,
and, you know, it came up earlier on the show, what happens with Jalen? Like, I don't think they're
going to extend him this year. And that, that's something I think they're going to take a little
hard look at and how he fits with Manion. Yeah, I haven't, I haven't looked at his contract too
closely. I mean, the only reason to extend him at this point, I would think would be to, to,
if you can cut that cap number down and, and give yourself kind of the, the room that you need
to do something else. But again, I haven't looked at it closely. I don't know what, it certainly
wouldn't be one of those things where I'm with you. I don't think that they're, they want to commit
to him any further out in the future than they already are. But, you know, I mean, you know,
how these things work with, with, you know, boy years and, and sliding money around. And so,
who know, maybe there's a way to, to, to, to do it where you're not really, you're not, you're
not setting yourself up to, to have a two, uh, you know, $99 million cap hit in a couple years.
Because look, I mean, I think that that, it's only fair to say, whether you're, whether you're,
whether you're the, Jalen defender or Jalen detractor. I mean, it's only fair to say that he's,
he's got something to prove after last year. And, and, you know, I, I think the Eagles are very much
in, in weight and C mode because, uh, you know, if it wasn't Kevin Petulo and we find that out
this year, then, then you've got to really take, take a hard look at some stuff. Yeah. Yeah,
it's gonna be, how you kind of structure this whole thing will be, will be fascinating. And he's
almost, he's almost 30 already, isn't he? Uh, not, not that that's, uh, but I, not, I wrote it back. Yeah,
it doesn't, I don't know. 28. Yeah, it's 28. But, all right. The quarterbacks, you know,
it doesn't, I mean, you, like, you know, it's what, I mean, I remember Brady was 37 and he said,
it was his best year. Like he, he remembered that at that point, it was so easy to him. Like,
he knew how to diagnose stuff. Like that was the year. That's the, that's the key right there.
And then Brady has also said that as you get older, you have to do that stuff more, you know,
and I think that you look, you know, hurts, obviously he's, he's still very much in his prime for
a quarterback, but for the guy that, that put it this way, is he going to run any more next year
than he did this year or be capable of it? You know, is he going to be any more willing,
willing, willing to do it? And that's the big question kind of with where he's kind of a bit of a,
you know, you can't necessarily compare him to obviously he can't compare anybody to Tom Brady,
but, you know, he's still very much has a question to answer about whether he can be the quarterback
he needs to be without that, you know, run game dimension that where he would add 700 yards a year
on his feet and, and really kind of not even just, it's not even just the rushing yards. It's the,
I mean, I always go back to that 2022 Super Bowl where, you know, yeah, I think he rushed 15 times
for 70 yards or something like that, but he was scrambled, he was, he was Randall Cunningham
in it all night, that game, and that's, that's the biggest difference in his game that, that we've
seen where, you know, he's not, I mean, he could still loot the rush, but he's not making plays
on his feet or looking, it doesn't even look like he's looking to make plays on his feet the way.
He didn't last year. No, he looked slower last year. It looked like he was banged up last year.
I'm, I'm hoping that man in, you know, kind of, re, I kind of,
re-imagined him as a quarterback, like, you know, ball out, sliding in the pocket, you know,
taking, you know, the thing I want to see from Jalen this year is, hey, you know what, step up
into the pocket. Instead of going, you know, bailing right, like step up, give me a little step
here to the right, not a full bail from the pocket, step up into the pocket, make your throws,
get the ball out on time. I think that's the next evolution for Jalen as a quarterback.
But I also think that, that, that, look, everybody talks about, you know, the McVeigh
system or what, you know, I don't know what, what Sean McManian's, I don't know whether he even
has a system, he hasn't been a coach long enough, you know, but, you know, I think that
Eagles would be wise to, to focus first and foremost on doing the simple things better,
you know, the way that they've always done them and that starts up front. And that's why I focus
so much on the tight end position, hey, because if you want to talk about, you know, uh, uh,
you know, Shanahan and McVeigh or, or, uh, O'Connor, you know, it's, it's, that blocking tight end,
plays a huge role, uh, in those offenses. I mean, to the point where they don't even have,
it's not even necessarily one blocking tight end, you know, and it's not even a blocking
tight end. It's not, it's not your donkey tight end, it's your, you know, two-way guy that,
I mean, the Rams have three or four of them, you know, and the Niners have three of them. One of,
one of them is a restrictive reagent, I believe, and Jake Tonga, so I'm a big fan of,
but they need that, you know, that, that, especially with Lane Johnson, I mean, at some point,
he's not going to play anymore, you know, and, and with the offensive line, you're never, you
can't count on them being as dominant and healthy as they were two years ago. And the obvious
way to, to, uh, you know, address that is, is that the tight end position? And if you could add,
you know, if you could add two guys who, who collectively improve, uh, you know, the run blocking
that you got out of that position, uh, and then also just be a guy who can catch a ball when,
when he's open, uh, I think that would, that would go a long ways towards, uh, you know, kind of
putting them on the right track again and, and being able to, to kind of, uh, block the run game
the way they need to block it. Because look, he, change, we can wish all we want for Jalen to,
to, you know, be, be burping the baby and stepping up in the quarter, in, in the pocket and,
and sliding left and right and, and keeping out his eyes down, feel it, but he's just not that guy
necessarily. And very few guys are in the NFL, uh, uh, well, I, I think manual help him. I, I,
do, I think the off, like, the, the, I mean, the coordinator was so bad last year, but
it was terrible last year. Like, you got to help your quarterback. I think manual help Jalen.
I'm, and everyone, everyone talks about play calling. Play calling is not the big thing. It's,
it's, it's, you know, you can call it play coaching, you know, where it's like, uh, you know,
the, you can tell Sean McVeigh that, that, you know, during the week, he's like, listen,
this is what they're going to do here. This is what we're going to do. You get, you know,
if this happens, look here, if this happens, look here, if this, and guys just have a way of,
uh, you know, Shanahan does it too. Uh, you can tell, McOconnell does it just by watching them play.
You can tell that, uh, you know, like Sam Tharnold, give him all the credit in the world. He's
obviously improved, but, uh, you know, a lot of that, you, you see it with Baker too. You know,
a lot of that is just getting them in a place where they're, they have a kind of symbiosis with,
the play caller or, or the play coach or the play designer and, and, uh, you know, there's a comfort
level there. And maybe, maybe that's all that's missing. Maybe we saw that out at Kellyn Moore and
Doug Newsmeyer, uh, two years ago with Jalen Hertz and, and, uh, you know, maybe, they just didn't
have any quarterbacks around them this year. You know, they really didn't. Uh, yeah.
Hey, do we want to take care of business for two seconds? We'll come right back. We'll
finish that part. And I want to talk to baseball, man. I, I, I love talking baseball with it. So, uh,
sit tight. We just got to take care of some, uh, business, a word from our friends.

Like Harper is like probably one of my favorite players in the town. Like he and Maxi
and a lot of I and then Cooper Quinn, John, but
dude, he talks about the world baseball class. And he's like, and I think it's awesome. And he's like,
well, yeah, it's not the Olympics. Man, after my own heart,
you like that? I love the world. You don't like the world baseball classic.
I mean, you know, my default mode is is this is ridiculous.
But yeah, I mean, look, I also think Harper's little ridiculous with the Olympics. Like,
I don't know. I mean, the hockey is great. You know, like to me, like,
start with the hockey, right? Like every, every international tournament should aspire to give you
what the Olympic hockey gave you this year. And you're never going to get it out of baseball.
Because, you know, if they do on the Olympics, like, come on, like, are these teams really going
to want, you know, Zach Wheeler out there, you know, if the Olympics were this year,
where they want Zach Wheeler out there, you know, throwing four more starts in addition to
the 32 he has, you know, that you're paying him to have. It's, it's the pitching. And it's never
going to, they're never going to find a way to be able to do it, you know, they just aren't.
Why? Like, what? I told you, I mean, what if you're, if you're, you know, you know,
a moment, Christopher Sanchez goes out there and, and, you know, listen, can happen in hockey,
guys can get hurt and you're done. Like, that's part of plan. It doesn't happen the way.
And it's, it's specifically pitching. It's not, you know, it's not, it's not the hitter.
But it just is. It is what it is. Look, I think that killed Joy.
I think, I know. So I, I like, I like, I like the Harper has a little of the inner
curmudgeon in him, you know, my biggest thing with the WBC is like, come on, man, like, don't tell me,
like, like, like, it's like the rider. The WC is like the rider cup, where it's like,
it's like the more energy you have to try to sell people on
it being cool and important and big. It's like, the more the rider cup, of course you do.
Yeah, it's like, it's just, it's a little manufactured. That's why, I mean, it just is.
Don't get me wrong. I love it. You're trying to watch breakthrough games.
I mean, watch and hose it. Oh, no, no, no, I'm not saying it is what it is. You know,
it's just never going to be something where, like, first of all, you know, he states his plan.
Brazil and Mexico, you know, it's like, how do you get up for that? It's, it's, we all know who
the best teams are. It now, if it was, if the World Baseball Classic was just the Dominican,
Venezuelan, you know, in the United States, Cuba, and Japan, that would be, you know, and they
all play each other the whole time. That would be something, you know, but they're like, four nations.
I will. I like it. I like it. I like it.
USA, Dominican Republic, Japan, that's where it was great. Watch a hose that can cherish the sun,
you know, face aren't judged. The moments like that are great, but in terms of the game itself,
I haven't watched, you know, an entire inning of any one of these games yet. Really? Oh my god,
I've watched live. I think I watched. I know, and I wish I love it. I've watched a lot of it.
I watched, I watched all of them. I have Friday night.
I wish I had more of that innocent wonder inside of me, but it's, it's not, it died a long time ago.
Yeah, I'm getting crushed in it. I have to chat call me Cowboy fan because I, I'm worried about
them. I got, I got, uh, Murph called me a 12 year old. I got these. He called me a meatball.
Did I call you a meatball? It's a national meatball, Dave.
That's all. I just mentioned it. He's just like, he did it. I just like, I did not. Oh, man.
We gave, we gave Max meatballs the other day and, and, you know, the digestive system did not take
kind of, uh, four guy. I'm sorry. Murph takes a strap and they're called on the wettest blanket.
What, what, what do you, uh, we, Murph, what, go back to Phil's, uh, I, next to me, he's already
freaking is over painter. Yeah. And my point is, is that listen, give it some time. Nobody
barreled them up. I mean, I know that's striking guys out, but nobody's really barreled them up.
They, he's induced weak ground balls and we, what? Yeah, he's got a phenom. I'll be like,
oh, well, he gets weak contact. I need to strike out some dudes. Yeah. And it's like,
honestly, it's been a little, not, I'm not going to say troubling, but you want to, you
definitely want to see fastball command. Yes. And the thing is, like, he's got it in there,
you know, like when he gets on top of the ball and, and, uh, you know, keeps it down in the zone,
you're like, all right, this guy always got to do is, is, is, is capture that and, and repeat that.
And, and he's going to be very, very good to, to great right away. But again, if you don't,
you know, it's just, the ball just seems to not fly out of it. It just seems to fly out his hand
sometime. And, and you got to be able to, you got to be able to, it's his second start. I know.
And I'm, and he's great training. He's been sold as like, you know, this is what you want.
This is what he's doing. It's great training. He's been working with stuff when he came out.
He's just firing. If it, if it was the reverse, we would be going and saying about how great he
looks and, and what not. So I'm not, I'm not, you know, better than anybody. You're a great
baseball guy. You covered this stuff. You know that in your seconds, you know, you're working on,
you know, you're stressed out. He's coming off with Tommy John. I mean, isn't it when I get,
but not you. No, I'm, look, I'm not bailing on him. I'm not, I'm not, I'm not going to sit here and
say I'm, I'm, you know, concerned or he's going to be a bus or anything like that. But look,
it is what it is. You know, fastball command is fastball command. And if you're still working on,
you know, like, yeah, he didn't have it last year. And that was part of his problem.
And I think he's going to get it back because you can see it in there. And I, I think it's just,
I think he's probably still knocking off the rust. It's just about repeating repeating the mechanics.
When you see him out there, no, no part about he does not, it's not, this is not like Spencer,
Spencer Howard or, or, you know, Vinnie Velasquez or even Nick Pavetta. You know, I think he's
obviously got it. And I think, you know, even with what we saw, like he said, even with what we've
seen so far, I think he's going to be a better number five starter for you, you know, since I won
Walker. And yeah, he's got it. He's just got to, you know, knock the rust off and get there. But we,
all I'm saying is we haven't seen it yet. And, and, you know, it's not like one of those things where,
yeah, I feel you, I could believe you. By the way, we're an overtime OT in the city.

No, I, I feel you, I guess I'm heartened by I'll take the, the optimistic view and go,
you're not barreling him up, man. And I see a lot of weak, a lot of weak flyballs and weak roundouts.
Yeah. And I'm, and I think that's, and I'll even go further and say, you know, even with the
fastball command, the guy I see out there, it looks like a guy who's going to get it at some point.
You know, he's going to, you know, it's all about repeating the mechanics, you know, and when,
when he does, you know, keep the ball down and hit his spot, it's, you can see why he's the
number, whatever prospect in the game. I mean, he's, I've seen this guy pitch, stand in next to him.
And it's, it's, you're just like, okay, you know, this guy's the real deal. I haven't, I have not seen.
You know, I haven't seen any, I mean, Cole Hamilton is the best pitcher. You know, I've covered
souped the nuts. You know, obviously, holiday, you know, came in for, for a few years and he was
by far the best. But, you know, painters a lot more like holiday in terms of his,
his physical nature on the mound where you're just like, I love Cole, you know,
but Cole was, Cole was, you know, Cole was graceful. He was an artist. He was, he was,
man, a lot of times left handers, I like that. Like his, his delivery was really fluid,
reprehensible, you know, where, you know, doc, doc was, was a beastly, right? And so his stuff
was beastly. It was hard to like, you couldn't get a lot of lift off of holiday. You know,
like, you threw a heavy ball. And painters, I agree with you. Painter reminds me of that more than
you know, well, let's not forget. Roy Holiday had to go down on the miners, you know,
when he was 24, 25 years old and figured it out down there. And, you know, so it's not, I don't
think anything that we're seeing out of painters is anything that, that, you know, wouldn't have
been expected or anything that you need to get concerned about. It's more of anything. It's like,
look, you know, this, you can't be counting on him. Yeah, I mean, remember two years ago we were
talking about Andrew Painter was going to come up in mid season and, and, you know, win the rookie
of the year. Yeah. Well, kind of like a Nolan McLean last year. You know, I, I think, hopefully,
you're hoping he gets to the point over the course of the season where he has figured it out at
some point, you know, this season. And it don't even call, I mean, Cole had a for, for something
ERA his first year, you know, it's, it's kind of par for the course when it comes to, to young
pitchers, where it just takes a while to find the comfort zone. And then painters, you know,
you know, he's got the added thing of coming off the Tommy John, where it takes, it takes
guys a while to, to reestablish the arm slot, you know, kind of, you're almost starting from square
one in terms of, you know, in terms of like your internal clock with regards to reps and stuff
like that. You're kind of learning the walk a little bit all over again. And, and yeah, I think that's,
you know, and then to your point, the fact that he's doing that and still getting results and
still giving you enough where, you know, you could see him going out there and, and, you know,
being competitive for at least four or five innings for you. I mean, that's, that's, that's a win
right now in, in my book. Yeah, I also think the win is he struggled with his command of his
baseball and he gave up no runs again out of the innings and stuff. He learned to work with him
on a day where he didn't have his greatest stuff. Just looking for him to look a little special
one day, I'm still waiting. It's coming. I'm just, I don't have the patience for it right now.
I just need to see one special outing. Yeah, and I would also say the misses, at least from, from,
uh, you know, just kind of kind of see the pants watching, watching without diving into it too much.
It seems like to me the misses are all kind of the same misses. Uh, you know, he's kind of high
and outside, uh, instead of low and outside. He's, he's, uh, uh, you know, I think, so I think it's
stuff that that can be, uh, I, I haven't got a second start of spring misses. Yeah, yeah,
and I, I, I think, uh, I think anybody that's concerned about Andrew Paine or, you know,
I think the biggest thing is let's, let's just see him, uh, looking more like the guy, uh, you know,
he was before the, the surgery and we've definitely seen that. Yeah. Um, all right.
You, you, real quick off the WBC, nori, the Kifram Italy made looks good. He, he, he, he's,
he's looking good, man. He really, it's, yeah. That's what's kind of fun. Seeing all, there's eighteen
fillies, prospects, players, the whole crew. I threw out the tournament. As you kind of look at it,
what's, where's your lineup? Look, what's your opening day lineup looking like? Because I keep
looking to do I want Bryce in second, do I want him in third? How do I want Shorber protected
him? Well, how are you looking at it? Yeah, I mean, nori, nori, first of all, the guy, uh,
when I watched, oh, I watched him the other day, Johnny Dane and was the guy that kind of,
kind of jumped into my head, uh, you know, yeah, it would be great. It would be incredible if
that's if that would actually turn out to be. That's a great cup. I, it's funny. I can totally see
that and watch it in play. Yeah. Uh, but yeah, so look, I actually did a lot. I, I, I, I don't
think the numbers a lot, uh, with regards to the lineup and, you know, pretty consistently,
as long as Harper and Shorber are hitting somewhere in the top three for you, I think that's,
that's your optimal lineup because you want those guys getting the most played appearances.
I always say like this, like if it's the top, if it's the bottom of the knife, tie game, you're down
by one and the top of the orders do up. You want to, we want to guarantee Shorber and Harper
both in a bat and that's what you, that's what you lose when one of them bats fourth or when Shorber
bats fourth. So, uh, yeah, I think two, three, probably I would have, I would probably do Turner,
Shorber, Harper, um, maybe split them up, uh, maybe, maybe Bat Harper lead off against lefties.
I, you know, I don't know, some way to split them up against lefties, but yeah, I would,
I would have Harper two and, and Shorber three. Okay. All right. Who do you?
I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I, I'm sorry. I would have Shorber, Shorber two and Harper three.
Okay. So just like last year, so we'll protect Bryce. I, I mean, nobody that, and that's,
you know, the matter, what, no matter what you do, you're going to be opening something up somewhere.
So look, Bryce actually, the interesting thing I, I, I found is that Bryce actually hit better
when bone was behind him than when Shorber, yeah, I know the numbers bear that. I, you know,
I'm with you, you know, but I think, I think, you know, like, there's no part, there's no good
solution. I mean, the best solution is to hope, uh, you know, goes ham, but, uh, I mean, and I was
hoping, honestly, my, my biggest, my biggest, uh, concern of the spring is ain't a Miller not
getting on the field, you know, I would, I had hope that he would be the guy, uh, you know, that
would help solve that problem at some point in the latter stages of this season. But, you know,
clearly, that's not going to happen with, with the way the back has been. Uh, so boring that,
I think, I think boom is, uh, you know, I, I think look, I, I, I don't know that you're going to
get anything different out of this offense than you did last year. Uh, you know, I, I think you
got to hope that, that, you know, the rotation is better. Uh, you have to hope that, uh, the bullpen
is better. And I think the bullpen is, the bullpen is the biggest thing because if you put it,
if you put it, if you put it, if you put a very good bullpen, not even a leap, but very good, uh,
bullpen behind this team, I, I think that they give you 95 wins easy again, you know, it's just a
question of, um, is that going to happen? Assuming the starter stay healthy. All right, last thing,
clap your hands. There's no maxi and there's no became. Yeah, that's not looking great.
Yeah, yeah, I, I look, uh, I'm, uh, the Jared McCain thing is going to be a giant referendum,
you know, um, they better, they better find something to do with that pick this, this, this summer,
uh, you know, and it better not be coi Leonard or, or, or, or, I mean, he was, he was, that's
whole mori nose. The eel just knows those players. Yeah, you know, that's what he does.
If that's, and if that's the way it turns out, then I will be the first person in line saying
they messed this up. I heard he's going to, I heard he's going to go side darkness ski.
Was he stall on? Here is someone compiled. Here's a mori six deadline moves. 2021,
required George George Hill, 2022, James Hardin, 2023, J. Lemick Daniels, 2024, buddy healed,
2025, Quentin Grimes, 2026, traded away, McCain. Pretty weak, pretty, pretty weak. Yeah, I,
I got news for you. I think I'm writing just to restart the whole friggin thing. I like, I just,
I can't go through this. And, and, you know, I don't trust him. I don't trust him to build anything
for the future that that he was going to go try to get coi Leonard. And listen,
listen, when he plays, like, he went through a great stretch, where he's playing the ball,
but you can't count on him. Like, that's not how I do. And my hero with, with mori is that he's
going to do whatever he can to take a swipe at a title. And you ain't going to win it with this
group. No. And yeah, and, and look to you to the point that you were, you were, you were
harping on last time we talked, you know, if, if a big part of it is on Nick Nurse, if he can't
find a way, if he couldn't find a way to, to do with Jared McCain with the thunder. He did
okay. He's the best team in the league, right? With all those guards, and I get it, the SBA was
out for a little bit, but he found it. He found a role. That right for him. Right. Right.
And yeah, he can't, he could find a role for him. It's dude. Well, especially it's horrible. He's
staying. Yeah. And I think the biggest thing, you know, my biggest question would be, you know,
look, you can argue, I guess the devil's advocate, you know, could say, look, now that SBA is back
and, you know, Jalen Williams is, is, is back. You know, he's playing 14 minutes a night, and, and,
you know, no one's going to give you a first round pick for, for a guy who's, who's, you know,
the third guy off the bench. But, on the best is going to lead. The Sixers don't have SGA,
and they don't have Jalen Williams. And they easily could have, and, and, and anybody who,
you know, watched this team could tell you they weren't, especially with Jason Tatum coming back,
they weren't going to, they weren't going to be in the, in the NBA finals this year, let alone these,
you know, maybe it's probably not even the Eastern Conference finals. I mean, you watch the
next and you watch the Celtics play, and it, you know, they're on a different, they're on an
absolutely different level from this team. So why not take this as another building here,
and find ways to feature a guy like Jared McCain, where he's either going to develop into
something that you can then build around, or his stocks can improve to where you can then trade
him after the season if you want to, and, and you think that's, that's the best move. That,
that's, I didn't understand their, their rush to do it. Um, you know, given that, uh, he clearly
could have still showcased who he is. I know. I know. I know. I know.
For the end, and that's on the code if they thought they couldn't do that.
Murf, we love you, buddy. Best of Max. We'll be reading you every day. Big time. Big week.
I know. I'm going to, I'm going to go do some yard work today in this, this 70 degree weather.
