a vehicle into a major synagogue in a Detroit suburb and was fatally shot by security.
The FBI says it was a targeted act of violence against the Jewish community.

Authorities say the vehicle caught on fire after crashing into the Temple Israel synagogue
in West Bloomfield Township.
A security officer was knocked unconscious and 30 law enforcement officers were treated
for smoke inhalation.
One victim is dead and two people are wounded after a gunman burst into an ROTC classroom
at Old Dominion University in Virginia today.

There were students that were in that room that subdued him and rendered him no longer
Police identified the gunman as Muhammad Jalal, a former Virginia National Guard Specialist.
Jalal was convicted in 2017 of attempting to plot an Islamic State-inspired terrorist
attack inside the U.S.
He was sentenced to 10 years but was released in 2024.
It's not clear what prompted this latest attack.
The university has canceled classes through Friday.
