Major forces behind the development of artificial intelligence are calling on the US and other governments to slow down AI development. For safety. 2:00The president Trump lames a spike in diesel prices on Ukraine's attack on Russian diesel facilities, and he has urged Kiev to stop the strikes. Texas landowners along the US-Mexico border are banding together to sue the Trump administration. Over its plans to seize private property for border wall construction in the state's vast Big Bend region, Marfa Public Radio's Mary Cantrell has elated. The lawsuit takes aim at the Department of Homeland Security's determination that the Big Bend region is an area of high illegal entry, when it only saw 1.5 percent of the total border apprehensions over the past five years. DHS's determination allowed the government to bypass dozens of federal laws and expedite border barrier construction in the region, which is known for its pristine desert landscape. Landowner David Keller is a plaintiff in the lawsuit. We have brought this extraordinary challenge because for us, the Big Bend is not an empty place on a map. It is our home. The court has 60 days to respond to the lawsuit, which seeks a pause on border wall construction.

3:03For MPR News, I'm Mary Cantrell. The Trump administration is expected to roll back stricter Biden-era limits on greenhouse gas emissions from power plants. This is MPR News. Pro-Palestinian activist, Makhmukh Khalil, is suing Columbia University on grounds of discrimination aimed at intimidating Palestinian students engaged in protests against the war in Gaza. The former Columbia graduate student gained national attention during protests against Israel's actions and led to his arrest by ICE agents. University has declined a comment on the lawsuit, but says it works to keep its campus environment safe for all. During a trip to Ireland this weekend, President Trump said he'd like to see the independent country unify with Northern Ireland, which is governed by the British. That's created rare common ground between Trump and the left-wing Irish nationalist party, Shinfane. Start as a political arm of the Irish Republican Army or IRA, the militant group fought for Irish unification, and PR's Lauren Faire has more from London.

4:08Shinfane Vice President Michelle O'Neill was asked about President Trump's comment on Irish reunification. I just think it really underlines where we're at, and it remains everybody that this is a debate that needs to be heard. She spoke to reporters alongside the leaders of Wales and Scotland, which are also governed by separatist parties, together they're calling for constitutional change. Shinfane wants a referendum on Northern Ireland leaving the UK and joining the Republic of Ireland. But the British government has said any such vote is off the table. The idea of Irish reunification fueled what was known as the Troubles, decades of deadly Catholic Protestant fighting in Northern Ireland.
