Well, at least it's not a real field of three degrees outside.
Back your weather says if you hang on a minute, spring will eventually work its way in here.
The calendar turned to spring this morning. Everybody's waiting for the temperatures to catch up.
Meteorologists John Fierick and the weather center, with the timetable on Windwheel
true to get to warmer temperatures. Anytime soon, John.
Well, it looks like it's going to be a little bit warmer this weekend, but that's how spring is
across our area. Get some ups and then get some downs. That cold air still wants to fight back a
little bit, but it looks like we'll see some rain move through the area tonight. Most of that's
probably going to be between like seven and midnight or so, and then it moves on out.
And then tomorrow's a pretty nice day. We're up into the upper fifties with some sun, a little
bit above the average for the middle of March, and then even a little bit warmer on Sunday
into the mid sixties with more clouds. We'll probably see some showers late in the day into
Sunday night and behind that does look like it's chillier again as we head into Monday and Tuesday.
Thank you John, and you know how we do. New Yorkers will wear flip flops and tank tops if we
need to to wheel spring into the air. Good day sunshine. Might be hard press for that today,
but it's worth a try. We went to the park to see who's doing spring training. That is trying to
train the temperatures to get in line based on the mindset here. Mac Rosenberg over at Prospect Park.
Finally, after months of cold and snow and ice, lies a cruise can ride her bike.
I've been looking forward to this day. Okay, I've been counting the seconds.
Okay, so it's not 60 degrees, but the sun is shining bright, and Matt Rojas can finally get
out for a run in Prospect Park. It's been such a cold winter and first runners have been really
tough with all the ice and the snow. So, you know, a lot of people are out in the
Prospect Park today. I've seen a couple guys without shirts. I think that might be a little
ridiculous, but I think, you know, we're all ready for the warmth. Amen to that.
Mac Rosenberg 10 10 wins on 92 3 FM over in Atlantic City. Somebody's having a real good
first day of spring. We got a new millionaire among us here. Crowd's packed into the golden
nugget for the million dollar replay grand prize join where one lucky winner snagged a million
dollars. And that person is standing by with our Amanda Alexander. First things first,
Amanda asked the guy, does he have anybody named Mullins in his family line? If he does, he needs
to call me. You know, anybody named Mullins deals. No, no, I don't know anybody named Mullins.
Oh, my goodness. You know what, Larry? Not good news for you, but great news for Lewis.
I'm sitting next to a millionaire. I mean, Lewis, talk to me about how you're feeling. I remember
when you won that million, you actually jumped on the MC's back. What are you feeling in that moment?
Oh, Mac, I was just experiencing so many different emotions at that time and just my wife
wasn't here to celebrate. So I hugged the MC and I just looked at him take to the air. I just,
you know, the exuberant. So I was just felt so many emotions. It was overwhelming. I was shaking.
I'm just so excited. I'm just so happy and so blessed to have won the million dollars.
That's beautiful. Now talk to me. Did you have any premises before? Did you have anything that
told you? I'm going to be a millionaire today. You know, it's, it's funny. You ask me that and
dropping my daughter off its oldest morning in the roadway was a white balloon. It was bouncing
around in the roadway and I was slowing down. I didn't want to run it over. And it just kind of
gently landed on the hood of the car and I was like, hmm, it just seemed like a premonition
to today. And, you know, I feel lucky and very blessed for that balloon to win the million dollars.
There you go. White is the color of purity. So that's for you right now. Now, we know there were
a few other grand prizes, 25K, 50K, etc. Would you have been okay with winning anything today?
Oh my goodness. It's funny. I also want to kick off the, we're giving off, giving out
scratch off tickets. And I was one of the early winners there. So I was, I was happy that would
probably pay for gas money back and forth the legs. I was happy with that, you know, to go home
with that. And then, you know, when they said, you know, when they announced the million dollars,
they said it was someone from Essex County. And I said, I was getting excited. He did. Let me
narrow it down to Cedar Grove. And I think it was me and maybe just one other woman,
whom I met today for the first time. And it was me and I just, that's a believer. It started
shaking. Unbelievable. Baby filling. Now, my final question for you, Lewis, if you take any
trips, can you pack me and Larry Mullins in that suitcase? I think we could squeeze you in there.
Yeah, for a weekend, yeah. Vegas trip sounds good. There we go. Well, Larry, the model for New Jersey
Lotto is anything can happen in New Jersey. And if that's not a testament to how true all of that is
and how many lives of change from this event today, you know, I really don't know what else is.
So reporting with a millionaire in Atlantic City, Amanda Alexander, 1010 wins on 92-3 FM.
Amanda, can he hear me speaking right now? Oh, yes, he can. So brother, I check genealogy.com. And
your name is Lewis Mullins. Don't try to act like you don't know me. Okay.
And I thanks. Thanks to you. I appreciate that. Congratulations to him. Sounds like they have a
lot of good fun down there. That's a good thing. Well, police on the hunt for two thieves who
swipes some designer sunglasses from a luxury store out on Long Island. This happened earlier
this month at the Sacks Fifth Avenue in Huntington station. Suffolk County police say a guy
on a woman stole three pairs of specs, two by Tom Ford and one by Chanel. No, they didn't
not the Chanel. Together, those sunglasses have a combined value of $1,500. That's a lot of
specs. The police department is offering a cash reward now for any information that will help
them arrest the suspects and get those glasses back. Long Island man already accused of killing
his ex-girlfriend facing new charges now. The Suffolk County DA is his Austin Lynch,
planning to rob his ex's house weeks after her death. Suffolk County DA Ray Tierney says Austin
Lynch already behind bars for allegedly killing his 18 year old ex-girlfriend Emily Finn
provided a sketch and other details of Finn's parents' home so that another inmate could make plans
to burglarize the home of its contents. He tells information about the home's appearance and
but Lynch's attorney, William Wexler says his client was found to be not capable mentally to
stand trial. So Wexler refused to participate in the burglary arrangements. I said judge,
the state presumes him dead as far as bringing charges. I said, I don't believe in resurrection.
Sophie Hall, 1010 wins, a 92-3 FM on Long Island. Did you hear about this turkey thing on long
island, stabbed an island the other day, strappingers had a rough time getting to work Monday after
a flock of turkeys blocked several trains on the Staten Island railway. Oh, the MTA says a train
crew near Old Town reported a flock of turkeys about two o'clock in the afternoon. A few hours later,
a second train said they also ran into this bird barricade. An MTA spokesperson said it took
several blasts from the train horn to get the birds to scatter. They could have showed some
giblet gravy or a can of cranberry salt. That would have done it quicker. Anyway, despite this,
the delays were pretty foul. Anyway, this wasn't Staten Island's first bird-based delay.
Last month, a turkey reportedly squared off with an MTA bus stopping the morning commute dead in
its tracks. These turkeys. Well, it's all out chaos. Had a pharmacy in the village,
trendy New Yorkers on the hunt for a $40 headband that first hit the shelves 30 years ago.
At CO Bigelow Pharmacy, owner Allie Ginsburg tells me about Gen Z's obsession with a
tortoise shell headband, Carolyn Beset Kennedy purchased here.
You know, the very interstyle and, you know, the iconic classic nature of it and the show is just
kind of blown it up to another level. The show loves story on the FX network. I asked Caroline if
she'd buy the headband. I don't know if I spent $40 on headband. But her friend Magda bought a
hair clip. $30 hair clip. Yeah, maybe I would. But she'd have to come back because the specific
tortoise shell style was sold out. Julia Papa, 1010 wins on 92-3 FM.
