March 18th, off limits. You have heard it said that God wants to be Lord of every area
of your life. And while you may nod and agree, even reluctantly, thinking of the finances
and entertainment or addictive substances you're struggling to let go of, have you thought
about your sexuality? And would you believe that God wants to be in charge of this area
of your life as well? For some of us, that's hard to imagine. However, consider this.
Any area of your life that you deem off limits to God only gives Satan the opportunity to
control it. Not quite convinced? Today we'll hear from a woman who learned just how sincere
God is about governing even this area of our life. On this, unshackled, daily devotional.
I'm Evelyn Litton in my husband and I made a fortune running a burlast club in San Antonio.
The Green Gate Club had a continuous trip show and dancers, and we were so rich we had
a mansion, a range, and a lake home. I could buy anything I wanted, yet I felt a longing
for something I couldn't name. One night an evangelist walked into our club and wanted
to preach. We let him just for the publicity. Couple of years passed and that same evangelist
returned to preach and Easter service at a mall nearby. I went and heard how Jesus died
on the cross for my sins. During the invitation, I sat there and cried. That evening I called
to thank the evangelist and he asked if he could preach in our club again, we agreed. Then
my husband invited him to stay with us during the revival. He spoke at our club and then
debated a famous atheist on television. Seeing the emptiness in her eyes, I knew I was just
as bad. I had always called myself a Christian, but I was a hypocrite. That evening my husband
and I knelt and asked God's forgiveness, we invited Christ into our lives. The next day
we closed our burlast club and later opened it as a homeless shelter where we served the
Lord in ministry for six years. Today I speak to women's groups telling them Jesus will
set you free. The Apostle Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians chapter 6 verse 18,
Flea fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body, but he that committed
fornication sinneth against his own body. Friend, what the Apostle Paul is referring to here
is God's design for our sexuality. It is an intimate and powerful mystery that resembles in
the purest form God's relationship with his people. But because of this intricate design,
mishandled sexuality can deal the greatest blow to our mental and spiritual condition.
God does not say in scripture that he is embarrassed by our sexuality and wants nothing to do with it,
rather, he wants to help us live out the sexuality he has commanded with reverence and respect
between a husband and wife. So will you invite God into this area of your life today?
