All right, I guess what we're doing is welcome to still against all odds alongside producer
Mikey Meatballs.
I'm joined by the degenerate trifecta, partly kid, brother, brie and Harry.
What's going on, fellas?
What's going on, Joel?
What's up, Joel?
What's going on, buddy?
I'll tell you what's going on, brother.
First of all, the partly kid's birthday.
Happy birthday.
We're recording this on that Sunday.
There he is.
Look at him.
Look at this guy who looks younger.
Joel, listen, menace, meat is a fence suckers, man.
Come on.
What are you talking about?
You're a good day?
Yeah, it's been great.
Look, here's a run down on my day.
I drove seven hours in a car and then I got home no kidding!
And this was my wife can verify this on Friday when I left, I could not find my wallet.
And I have like a George Costanza wallet, where I got stuff in there that I'm like, I don't
want to, I just, you know, you get the anxiety of am I going to have to call like and cancel
this?
Is this the same wallet you lost in Vegas?
No, it's not.
You told me that story.
No, okay.
No, it's not.
You've heard that story.
So I, I spent about three hours when I got home looking for the wallet while the
same, but these games were going on.
So peeking in and out, keeping track.
And I found it.
I found it.
I really was resigned to saying, it's gone.
Like I don't, and I had it narrowed down.
I knew I had a two hour window of it missing on Friday.
It's like I, I knew it.
And then sure enough, it was on my dining room table underneath, just underneath a stack.
So I had taken, I was using my backpack that I bring into work.
And I had taken stuff out of the backpack, like books and stuff, and put it on top of
my wallet, I guess.
And it was sitting there the whole time, and I'm not kidding, Joel.
It was three hours.
And I want to see the last 48 hours.
I was just like, man, I cannot believe I can't.
I got two hours to sleep on Friday night before I had to leave on Saturday morning, because
I was looking for that freaking wallet.
And I am the worst at losing sleep.
I can't believe.
Thank you.
What I love is the kids wallet phone is a darn thing.
That was all I forgot.
I am, but I also am the king at finding things.
So you don't even, this is why this generation doesn't even have wallets anymore.
You just, everything's on the phone.
Joel, Joel, it's many, many years ago, Darren, when he did lose his wallet, when it
was me, him and Sal, he did find the wallet after he lost it, only to find that the 500
was at the end of the day.
That's exactly what I was missing.
I walk out of the casino.
I'm like, guys, I left my wallet, I don't know why I'm gonna left my wallet like on
a chair with, yeah, within 30 seconds, I walk back in, walk back in.
I'm like, it's not there.
I go to the lost and found, I go, I know you probably don't have it, but our customer
service, what I got, you find a wallet, somebody turn a wallet in, and they were like,
yeah, and they, they're looking at me, looking at my ID and they go, yeah, here it is,
I go, unbelievable.
I come running out of gas, my wallet.
I look inside, no money's left.
That's a bedding.
I got one of that, I was 23 years old, like I was on my wall.
It was all gone.
No, at least, at least we always know what to get you for your birthday, and that is
a new wallet.
I believe it.
the ships that you put in that you don't have that. It's beyond me. That's what they get.
That's a year ago. Like when they first came out with those things and I was like,
nah, I'm good. Joe the funny thing was Michael and I were at my dad's house yesterday watching
wrestling. And my dad's 86. He's turning 87. He's getting old. But we were talking about
down losing his wallet. And my dad is like, that's why I never carry my credit card in my wallet.
And I was like, how does that make any sense?
Harry, Harry, very quickly. What is worse, Harry, losing your wallet or your keys?
Your wallet keys for which would you, for me, it'd be my keys because I don't do wallets.
I think wallets are stupid. I don't do wallets. What do you do? Do you have one of those clips,
though? No. It's just credit cards and IDs go in my pocket along with the cash.
Yeah. Brian, what do you think? Where's thing to lose?
Keys wallet phone.
That's just a good question. This is a really good question.
He is the least. It's a water phone. I think you got to know what's in your wallet, right?
Depends on what you have in your wallet. The phone if you're backed up, like if you have backup,
like if you have backup, then I, well, that's a lot of calling the credit card.
Yeah. That's why I was so at the anxiety I was having over it was ridiculous.
But I had to say I kind of power through it. I didn't really think about it much when I was
away. I'm just like, whatever. It might be, it might be the phone, though, because you
rely so much on it now to call and absent. Now you literally screwed. It could be the phone.
I don't know. That's bad. But by the way, my kids did get me a very good gift. And Brian,
keep June 18th open. I got tickets to the first round of the US Open.
Oh, wow. Wow. Let's go. Let's work, Mikey Meatball.
Kids. I don't do that. Believe that. You know, it's funny, though. I honestly,
I had forgotten about it for a while, because we talked about last year potentially going.
And then I just was looking the other day. I was like, let me look at the tickets here for the
to go. So that's great. That's great. That we go really Thursday.
One bright. Keep it open. A bucket list thing. Have you been yet,
parlay kid? No, no, I've been there. I think this is the best.
I've been there on Thursday. It was awesome. It was like the nicest day out. It was like
right. Like 65, seven years. Keep it open. That's what we're going to be. June 18th.
All right. Well, hey, listen, let's get to the sense of double tournament speaking of birthday
presidents. The best one for parlay kid. They'll might have come from St. John's Dylan darling
with your first buzzer beater of the tournament. What? And he kept your bracket alive. Let's talk
about probably one of the strangest maybe the best game of the tournament so far. St. John's Kansas.
St. John's the Johnny's patino moving on to the sweet 16. What a what a weird game in the
stranger ending, Brian. Yeah, that was, you know, we were talking about that on the text.
We were talking about before we started this. You know, I was almost starting to feel bad for
St. John's because I was like, you know what, I can't believe they're going to blow this game,
right? It was like, oh my god, I felt like they've been dominant this whole day. They got a lot
of the goods. They got most shots they wanted. Kansas, like, Kansas just started fighting hard
in those like last 10 minutes. Right. To cut that lead. But, you know, we were talking about
the foul situation. I mean, you have like, you know, Kansas is what three fouls with 12 seconds left
to whatever it was. And they, you know, to give and they gave all three, but they left too much time
on the clock. They could have, if they, they throw it into the back court with what six point nine
fouls was like three point nine. Yeah, they could have, they definitely could have wasted another
one one and a half seconds before another foul. If that's how they wanted to play that.
Yeah. That's, that's a good point, though, Brian. But to me,
now that now you can't foul. And it allowed St. John's to drive to the hoop for an easy basket.
Yeah. And that's true. Like that, you got, you got to make them make a tough jumper when
the game there. Like, you can't, that can't, and I believe me, I was rooting for say, I couldn't be
happier because I just think a Duke St. John's matchup now is so much better than a Kansas Duke
matchup. I don't need to see Kansas anymore. I really don't. I'm like, I'm tired of the Kansas
program. Let's move on from Kansas. I'm done. I agree. Candace of that. I don't know. That's
11 losses for Candace. Eight of those have been by this year by double did it. So not a great
Candace team this year. Uh, gutsy win by St. John's, but again, the shooting. I mean, uh, look,
I think, I think they have, I got a chance against Duke because they were so bad shooting,
especially in front of that boat teams. Bad shots missed by a mile. So many airballs and terrible
turnovers that you got to play better against Duke. And I think that's what St. John's going to
edge of force fantastic. He's got great moves. He's got a nice soft touch. Uh, Hopkins bailed him out
with six threes. Otherwise, and that shooting was terrible, but a great win for St. John's because
last year, if you remember, guys, um, when they were kind of in the same position, they really
choked in that second game of the tournament. Couldn't move on to the sweet 16th. Patino had to get
this done somehow they did and class stacked. I will say this about Patino when the game was over
and they won, Darren. He acted like he's been there before. No issue, no, no cheer, no
going crazy. He knows what's next. He wants to do. Yeah, that should be a, a great one. Yeah,
and Duke, I might be a wake up call for them. They've, uh, you know, struggled in the last two,
kind of putting teams away in the in the last five minutes. Uh, but yeah, I don't know. It's
tough to get up for those, for those games, maybe, but they will for St. John's a week to get ready
for this show about that. About that, about that, about Duke and the St. John's game real quick.
Duke played 80 minutes, 80 minutes of basketball in this tournament. They've played good
for 10 minutes of 80. That was the second 10, uh, in the second half against TCU to move that lead
from like five or six to 20. Other than that, they haven't played good at all. So this is going to
be very interesting. I'm pumped up for this game and watch again doing St. John's and Duke and
Duke. Well, that's the problem, Harry, is like, when you haven't played your best basketball yet,
and still winning, but, uh, I mean, Cameron Booser, Brian, I don't know. Like I,
when he wants to flip a switch, that's, that's the thing. And, uh, I, I don't know. I don't know
if the St. John, if St. John says anyone that can kind of, can cover him and, and, and stop him
because he's kind of been unstoppable when he, when he wants. Well, this, I mean, the St. John's
team has been pretty great defensively. I mean, I, I did think, you know, again, I thought Kansas
struggled, you know, some of that was just poor shots, but they've really made it tough on them.
I mean, St. John's going to make it tough on him. I mean, defensively, you know, I, I mean,
they're not, Duke's not going to have their way with them. I mean, it's going to be a different,
totally different battle. Um, you know, obviously it's going to be tough to stop Booser, but,
yeah, I don't know. I'm looking, I'm definitely looking forward to it. I mean, this is going to be,
one of the most anticipated, sweet 16s, right? And a long time for, for college basketball.
Yeah, that East region is loaded Michigan state moves on, uh, UCLA Yukon play later tonight.
I mean, that, like we said, that was a region of prestige and, and great teams with great coaching.
And now, uh, Kreme is, is rising to the top in that East region. Harry, we, we brought up a little
bit of, of Tom iso on our text thread this weekend. Part of the kid, I'll, I'll give you the floor
a little bit of how kind of like a forgotten man, a little bit in, in college basketball sometimes.
For sure. Well, look, I, you know, I, I can't pinpoint the exact date, right? But, you know,
I, I think, as always, I think he's a true man. I look, you might say, well,
part of kid thinks everybody's a great coach, right? Iso is a different level of coach compared to,
you know, I could talk about paint or like, you know, but iso to me is like on a Mount Rushmore
of college coaches. And, you know, a couple of years ago, you remember, they try to kind of,
they kind of bashed him saying, oh, you know, he yells at his players too much. He's too hard on
whatever it was. Did you see the end of the game yesterday? His players love him. They love him.
He was almost had tears in his eyes at the end of that game. It means so much to him,
but you could tell that those kids love him. And, and I, I think, I thought that was awesome.
Okay. So, I, I, I always root for Michigan State. I always, that's a team that, I might not
have money on, but I, I root for them because I just, I like, iso, and I like the way he prepares,
and I like the way his kids always compete hard, always. Yeah. A team you always want to pencil in it,
at least first round, probably even the second round. Right. And they're, they're back again,
Harry. They're my national champion. It's six months, Michigan State. And I, I won't say this,
I can't feel the same you do about iso, but something we've always agreed on every single year.
And I think this means a lot, it's happened and means a lot in different years when it comes to
the NCAA tournament and who ends up winning it is the schedule that you make non-conference
during the regular season to test yourself and test your team as you go along. And every single year
iso plays the toughest non-conference. Yeah. He doesn't mind a few early season losses.
He doesn't, doesn't, he plays all the big guys all the time. If, you know, if, if they have to play
a Duke in the next round, if that's, if that's what it turns out to be to go to the final four,
it's okay. They, they played Duke this year. They lost one, but they were ahead at halftime.
And I can't, I really like Michigan State down the stretch because at the end of the season,
a little bit of solid grapes in that Michigan game in the season finale, then you blow the game
against UCLA when you're seven and a half point favorite in the big 10 tournament. So coming into
this little questions, but for these first two games, they've looked solid. They're playing really
well down low and, and they're playing great defense. The same. Yeah. Yeah. No, I agree, Harry.
Yeah, brackets. Everyone's brackets still alive. And by the way, yeah, big 10, I, I send out
a almost way too soon text after Ohio State went down and I go, here we go again with the big 10,
but no, big 10 very well represented in the sweet 16. Before we move on from the east,
you guys want to guess what that line is in the Duke St. John's game?
Oh, good question. Duke, Duke five, five and a half. I was going to say five and a half.
It's very close. Six and a half, two minus six and a half. So yeah, maybe jump on that,
Johnny's now then. Let's let's jump around as we look at these regions. We have to talk about the west.
I think, I think let's just get into this west region. Big win for Purdue, Matt Painter wins his
500th game seven trip in the last nine years to the sweet 16 congrats Purdue. By the way,
Matt Painter only needs 12 more wins to match Gene Katie for the most in school history. Charles
Barkley even called him one of the most underrated coaches in college basketball. Harry, Purdue,
moving on. Another guy, Barkley, another guy with zero chips, right? Oh, that's true. I'll throw it
out to the group before before we get to you guys. I will say I actually thought Matt Painter did
an unbelievable job in this game. Miami, I don't care about the seedings. Oh, well,
Purdue should have won their number two seed. All right. Well, Miami had just as many losses as
them. We're not, let's not exactly just look at at seeding here. Miami was the more athletic team
and Purdue. He really did. Their defense was incredible, Parley kid. He never, he never moves off
that obvious defense. He relies on on a zone and and same thing. He's not relying on the three
unoffense. We're getting it down low. We're going to, we're going to play our game and that is
coaching. Harry, come on. That is coaching. DC stinks.
That's what he's got to come up with. Look, great job. Seven out of nine years making it to the
sweet 16 out of Purdue. When, you know, you know, you're not a team that's full of, you know,
even like a few NBA players. What are you watching? Brian, Brian, when you watch them, are they
seven out of nine? Are they probably one of the least athletic? Well, yes, because teams,
or because, yes, because when you point guard is five, I mean, he's a great point guard,
but when he's five, five. Oh, look, I'm not saying he's a great pie, but it's five,
eleven. Darren was talking about it athletically. Like Kaufman runs a row of the player, but not,
you know, probably can barely touch Rem Kaufman run. And then, you know, then they throw,
they do throw out some white guys. I don't know how these guys are really good college players.
Like they don't look like they would be. It's the same like Virginia. Virginia is the same
way too. No one's making a turn. They don't say seven out of nine years. That's right. Yeah,
seven out of nine years. He loses to a 15 and a 16. Okay, I got it. Right. Yeah, but Harry,
sweet 16 and seven of nine years for Purdue is pretty insane. They're big 10 school.
There should be 10. Doesn't even do that well in the tournament anymore. Well, that's that's
there. That's Giancaini's fault. We're never getting it done. That's what we haven't done.
What's he talking about? All right. All right. Well, listen, listen, it's like a small little school.
They're they're big 10 school and they're basketball school. They're not football school.
They're a bottom half 10 school. They should have top-notch guys all the time. They should
be going to sweet 16s. So should Indiana. Indiana is right and close to Indiana too. Indiana
isn't found the right coach in years. All right. Well, let's, you know, we let's talk about this
because in the West region, Gonzaga, you said you would have rather had Mark few,
Mark few, not even not even sniffing the sweet 16. Harry, Gonzaga, going home, if you're going to
get on painter, it might be time to get on Mark few. Look, yeah, you know, a guy also that hasn't
been able to get it done in the end. Don't out about it. But that better teams than better
better teams overall for a small, small school. He said, compared to what Purdue is.
Yeah, I mean, he said better recruits though, but by far, the last 10 years, Gonzaga, for sure.
In a week, in a week or conference, I got no, I got nothing to defend you about really. I don't.
Well, here's the thing. It's hard to win. Joe, it's hard to win. Like it is exactly how
many acts like, ah, you know, this shouldn't be that hard. It's so hard. It's so hard.
Like it's, you know, put this into, you know, put this into context here. It's hard to win. It's
hard to advance. It's how it is. Well, it was not hard to advance for Purdue. And Harry,
I don't know exactly how much I can talk about this, but you were given an opportunity to win
backstreet boys tickets from one of our fans at the sphere. All you had to do was take this bet
that Purdue wouldn't make it. And you didn't want to. Now you know, I wanted to go. I wanted to go
with you. Wow. Maybe we'll still work it. We can still work it out. I might get brief
beats myself. I don't know. I get brief beats myself. You're coming and just getting freebies.
What are you talking about? I would have loved to go.
I would. All the time. I get a bicycle day. It's amazing. I should show you. Don't believe me.
Well, now in the West, now your, your lowest-seated team is Texas, which by the way,
I don't know. I'm opening the floor to you guys on Texas and Sean Miller Purdue is
minus seven and a half. Well, I don't know. Texas barely makes it in the tournament. It's
weird because had they just been, you know, a nine seed or even an eight, nine game, they probably
maybe would have been a team that we would have picked. But because they had to play in the play
and I feel I feel like maybe they got disrespected. I don't know. Do you guys give Texas now a chance
against Purdue or even moving on further? It is weird when that year is now Cinderella just based
on seating. Darren, it's been a couple of years. Sean Miller was one of Darren's favorites too.
Another weasel coach out there. It's now made in 2016. So now Darren, let's talk about him a
couple of years. Well, Archie Miller was my guy. He was at Dayton, his brother. Archie was at
Dayton. Another guy who can't coach it. You know, Sean was at Xavier. He's good wherever he goes.
And let's I think now what is he 10 and 0 9 and 0 in that round as a coach. Yeah, I can't
remember. I was 9 and 0 before that game. Yeah, it's either 9 or 10 and 0 now in that round.
Phenomenal. I'm again, like you, that's so hard. So good for him. He was at Arizona for a while,
so yeah, well, I mean, that it still seems like that's a that could be Arizona going up against
their old coach in the elite eight. You could have Arizona, Texas Arkansas still that game still
to play later tonight. But yeah, another loaded region of solid coaches there. We're going to
get to the Midwest and South right after the break and see if these guys. Oh, we also I want to
quickly talk about you and see and and Hubert Davis who Harry likes for that job and the Syracuse
job will get to that right after the break. All right, guys, welcome back. Hey, the betting
industry has plenty of people who brag about their picks. But now there's an app that keeps track
of who is giving out the most winners. It's called tips. And now the D3 and I are on it. We're
giving out our picks every day. You can download the app or head to the website, follow us as well.
And all the other tips. You'll see who's on a hot streak. They're record over the past week,
month, and even breaks it down by sports. Now you can see who is really backing it up with hard
numbers over the weekend. I wrote, I don't want to brag, Parley kid. I wrote an eight. It should
strip. Yeah, 16 out of 20, just doing a lot of NBA player props. Brother Brie was crushing it on
NCAA tournament bets. And I was I was. I was. I was. I said, you jakes, man. I should not do it.
I lost three straight after that. Oh, man. I know. I sure. It's the kiss of death. Harry,
on the other hand, riding high on international soccer that I don't even know when he's putting these
in, but I wake up. He's already hit like three bets of international soccer. I put them in it
two a.m. yesterday, two a.m. Yeah. Well, thanks to tips there. Yeah, download the app or go to
the website and make sure to follow us. Now let's look a little bit in these other regions.
The Midwest, again, Michigan Charles Barkley loves Michigan. I don't know. Iowa State had some
injuries, but Iowa State still, I think it gives them a big time match. We don't know who they're
playing yet in the second round, just yet. But I don't know. Do you guys, you, you, you still
like Michigan in the in the Midwest? Go ahead, go ahead. I mean, Alabama, Alabama look tremendous.
That's my team. That's my team. Well, we got, we got a long ways to go for them, but.
Well, yeah, exactly. I like it. Well, still, I mean, if Michigan plays, you know, Alabama or
to play that run and gun, that's what Michigan likes to do. Now Michigan didn't play great. I
don't think in the big 10 tournament. They definitely didn't, but they're back to playing the way they
were. I mean, these first two games, just running gun, put up big numbers, scored up more
100 points in game one scored 90 against St. Louis. That's what they do on all year. I like
Michigan. So definitely. I don't know. I mean, I think, Brian, you've been actually on Alabama.
Early on, I think you, you were riding high on Alabama. Well, the SEC tournament. That's right.
They blew it. Narcon, so one extra. Just just that tournament, just that.
Uh, and then you've got the South. We, we saw Houston, again, look like they're on, on,
on a mission. That's my team. That's my team. Let's go.
Playing look Illinois in the second round. I don't know. Again, very,
yeah, very chalky, but, uh, again, I don't, I don't know if there's really anyone that can stop
Houston or Florida. They're hairy. Maybe, uh, I don't know. Can Illinois, can Illinois stop them?
I, you know, Illinois, just, I don't know how many foreigners they have on this team, but they
have a lot. They can get it done. They don't get like they, I was very impressed with Illinois
against Miami, but not they shouldn't have beat them. It definitely, but, but once it was like
13, 10 Miami, all of a sudden, and everybody's, you know, wants Indiana Miami to be like the
Cinderella, maybe of the of the of the tournament, uh, with everything they've got going on and
they've had to do. And all of a sudden, they just, they just turned it on and just destroyed them
from that point, rolled them and, uh, and this team is on a mission too. I mean, they've, they've
had a, uh, a very good season. Want some big games? I think they get it done. They're solid.
Solid. Yeah. Yeah. We are recording this on a Sunday night, and so I don't want to go too
much into the number one seed because, uh, yeah, I was up at Florida at halftime, but I mean,
that, that has been the talk of the tournament so far as, as the favorites. My gosh, if you,
if you were just betting the favorites all weekend, uh, you did pretty well. And that's now
what the talk has become, Parley Kid, is that the NIL was starting to ruin the tournament, that
these Cinderella's we've seen in the past, uh, kind of our, our, the mid majors are getting
players cherry picked from them. And honestly, it also becomes like the six, seven, eight seeds
are, are stronger seeds. You're, you're kind of, uh, like we said, your, your big 10 is so deep
that now your Illinois and Iowa's are, are even stronger and they're not getting knocked off as much.
But I don't know. Do you guys, I throw it out to you think the NIL has ruined this tournament?
Um, I look, well, not maybe early rounds, but in the, when you get to the sweet 16,
you might be looking at just an unbelievable, uh, you know, eight games or so, uh, leading into that.
So, yeah, I, look, I think the, you know, it's, you know, as a mid major guy myself, right,
with Dayton, by the way, the lead eight in the, in the NIT. So let's give it up for the Dayton.
Harry, wow.
I mean, they're in the role. They're in the rolling teams. They're not, they're rolling teams.
Yeah, yeah. Wow.
Uh, all right. Well, and also, let's, let's point out, I forgot to give him credit at the top
of the show. High point, Harry did have high point, uh, not a high point one their first game and
covered against Kansas. Like he said, I think it's been a good, I got to be honest, you, I think
it's been a good tournament so far. Like I'm a, you know, would you like an extra upset
or two? Yes, probably makes it a little bit more interesting early, but I think, I think,
you know, I, I understand there's been some lopsided scores, but I think the tournament's
just playing out pretty well, Joel. I think, uh, enough people like just fans itself.
This, people have so much action on all this stuff with their brackets and all that. So,
it keeps, keeps people engaged anyway. It's going to be up to the mid majors and it is,
this no thing is tough on the, on the mid majors. I think there's probably going to be some
changes in that eventually, but it's going to be what the mid majors got to try to do is keep
their guys around for three or four years where they have, you know, junior, senior, heavy teams,
this guy's with a lot of experience that can come into the tournament and play. So, but, uh,
I've, I've enjoyed the tournament so far. I know complaints from me.
Yeah, Brian, I mean, it is. It's hard. You know, once you're down to 32,
that is like the top 25 people forget. Like, oh, you know, there, there are so many good teams.
And one of the, like, one of those teams we even thought about was, you know, Nebraska,
look, look at that. Like, eventually, you're, you're more rooting for those teams to knock off
the one or two. Maybe it's like our Cinderella has just kind of changed a little bit. So,
well, look, we didn't see it last year, right? We had the four ones last year make it be
interesting this year. You know, it's anything outside of the ones or the twos. I, you're more
likely, I think the ones are more likely to lose this year than last year, but, uh, but yeah,
look, I think like Darren said, I think it's just a question of you, you'd like to see one or two
more upsets, but it makes the second week a hell of a lot better for sure.
Well, I don't know. I think it's, I haven't been overly thrilled with the tournament so far.
And the play, I don't know, it's been okay, but I think it has ruined and I
has a lot ruined it a little bit because the only time you might get a team that, uh, you know,
is a type of high point type of school to upset a team is type of team like they high point has
that has like an uptempo that can score and shoot. You're going to get a defensive team that,
that comes from no, uh, small school and they won the conference tournament and then the tournament
and get in this tournament against the big guys. Uh, you're not going to be able to beat them if
you don't have any often high points of different animal, but they've got shooters all over the
place and they can run and gun and they were, they were a person in the country and field goal
percentage. I think at first, they're first or second and they were like fourth and scoring.
You're going to have to have that and beyond that day and then you can pull an upset or two,
but if you don't have that and you're just a team and you're winning the game 60 to 58 in your
conference and you can make the tournament, you're going to get blown out in the second half of
these tournaments. Now, I think you're only going to find the team that can score that has an
offensive attack like high point does that's going to pull up so it's moving forward.
I mean, I mean, that is what you've seen in the past, you know, floor, I'm just thinking
off the top of my head like Florida golf coast got up and running and I mean George Mason too,
but now, I don't know, everyone does that. A lot of people liked Hofstra and but also,
I don't know, Barley, a lot of these teams get beat down low. They can't out rebound these teams
and you're seeing when the SEC in big 10 is kind of out rebounding them and getting second chance
opportunities. There's only so many bigs that can kind of compete and now when other teams are
clamoring for those taller players and picking them from mid majors, I think that kind of hurts.
Well, yeah, you know, Jamal Mashburn had said that yesterday. He said, you know, a lot at the
smaller schools or the mid majors, the guard play isn't too much different than maybe what you would
see. It's just the play of the big men, you know, like they so that I think that's lense to the
point when Harry is saying with like a high point, those type of schools that have their best
chances of the ones that kind of run and gun and don't really worry about, you know, having a really
dominant or really, you know, any type of big man, really, they'll run a six, eight guy out there
who can maybe shoot a little bit and stretch the floor a little bit. So yeah, the big man are the
ones that make the difference so much with the between the elite and the close to elite teams for
sure. Yeah, I jokingly sent you guys a text. I mean, that's kind of like what we saw in the Hofstra
Alabama game is like a lot of these mid majors, these lower seed teams, Brian, there's just one guy
completely out of shape, who's basically competing for rebounds against a whole NBA future NBA
front court doing the best he can sweating completely, totally out of shape. And sometimes,
you know, they can pull it off, but eventually, you know, that guy gets in foul trouble and then
there's just no one else on the back. Yeah, look, I mean, even the even the good teams sometimes
can't get a rebounds. I mean, my god, the Purdue Miami game for as well as Purdue shot the ball,
they just, they could, there was a stretch where I was screaming at the TV because I had, I had
Purdue. I just can't just like, oh my god, they can knock every. Yeah, brutal, brutal. Well,
yeah, I was going to talk about, yeah, the first number one seed that you think might go down,
but again, we're recording this on a Sunday. So I'll just say that, yeah, our tournaments,
our final fours are still intact. And who's not there is North Carolina, like we gave out on
the show, VCU beat them in the first round. It sounds like Cuba Davis is likely to be out. And
we were back and forth with tape all weekend of who he thinks might be the coach there. I don't
know if anyone wants to leave and take on such a high pressure job, especially when you, you can
win anywhere now. I don't know, Harry, who you necessarily think is going to be the next UNC coach.
Roy Williams wanted to kind of hand the keys to Hubert Davis and might not have been the guy.
To me, I think why not get a coach? Everyone wants like the young hot commodity who's winning games
in the tournament like right now. I don't know. Maybe you need a guy who's coached 20 years and has
more of an established record and reputation. And instead of just getting the young hot name when
you're when you're a school like North Carolina, which is kind of what they did the first time
getting Roy Williams. Yeah, I mean, but again, I mentioned why I was joking a little bit saying
they stink. They don't stink, but they're down from what they've had. What's happened from years
passing the ACC, the whole conference as a whole, but when Davis got hired, a lot of people were
questioning if that was a good hire than. And then all of a sudden, right off the batty,
it's some pretty good success and just not having it now. But I don't know who you get in the spot.
I mean, it's it's a big because it's in it. It's a it's a it. You don't win right off the bat.
What's going to be talked about? You're going to be it's going to be you're going to be a
it could be you could be in trouble early. I don't care. Even about North Carolina. I don't care
about the ACC because I do care about Syracuse. And I do want Jerry McNamara, but we got
total Syracuse. I mean, they did go stay in house with Adrian Audrey, not the biggest name and
he couldn't get guys to come and just couldn't get the W's. What McNamara did this year at Sienna,
what he's done there over the past couple of years, what he did against Duke was tremendous.
Get him there. He'll be able to get guys to come to Syracuse. Syracuse can be dominant again.
They need this guy. They don't need to go hire a big name by from different from different. What
McNamara you'll get it done. How did that turn it from who's going to coach you on C to McNamara
coaching Syracuse? Yeah, big powerhouse school. Yeah, it's Syracuse, but no, it does seem like
that's going to happen. And yeah, Jerry McNamara and and Sienna gave Duke a scare. So no, I mean,
I know to Harry's point, that is incredible. And the fact that he's going to coach the school that
won a national championship and what Carmelo's Kayan Anthony and that is a surreal moment. I hope
Jerry McNamara gets that job. But yeah, North Carolina, I think, I think even Jerry Mack would take
North Carolina for Syracuse, even if it dies. Yeah. So very quickly, we did a draft last week.
And we got some feedback. Harry was was not on the pod that day. It was St. Patrick's Day,
but he wants, he wants to weigh in on who he thinks one are sick Holy all time college player draft.
Harry, I don't know who you're picking. This was, this was a big draft between the way. I studied
this, you know, I have my own five, but I studied both guys lineups and team here. And I'll say this
on Brian side. I love Elijah one. Yeah, absolutely. No doubt about it.
Tremendous moves. I mean, I was actually underrated in my opinion, how great he was.
Love Layton, you got to have Layton around there for what he's done. Bird,
didn't win. And there was only really one big year for Indiana State there. So I don't know,
Jordan, not the gray, you know, but I don't love the Derek Rose so much. That's why I'm
inside with Parley kid. I know Parley kid loves rip Hamilton and deservedly. So I don't know if he
gets to should be in the top five year either, but I think that he gets to nod over Rose in my
opinion. So I do like Darren's team better. And I caught, you know, I do like it's Danny Manning
picked him because remember, Darren, no, in the in the late 80s, it was Danny Manning and the
miracles beaten those great Oklahoma Billy tub schools. Thank you. Manning in the miracles.
But you must have done something amazing. That's the rest of the name of your team.
He won an national championship. So I agree with you. I agree with Carmelo. I'm being biased here.
And I, you know, how I feel about Carmelo when it came to being in the NBA, he's
can't do a lot of teams because the way he was and the way he played. But bringing that one national
championship to state New York and Syracuse was huge. And he was tremendous in that in that one
year that he was with Syracuse. We're back there beating Kansas. That was fantastic. Magic.
Yeah. I got it. I got it too. But I, but I mean, you have to have Patrick Newman
there too because Elijah one and you winged both. I have Elijah one and you winged both there.
They're like 20 hours in the middle because they just didn't do it one year. They did it numerous
years and then see a tournament making deep runs in the tournament. Brian, you look confused.
Did he give a winner there? No. I think he said he liked Darren's better. I'm curious.
You know, Darren and I drafted back and forth. So Harry did say he had a five. It's not like we
took our best five. We, we, we drafted. Okay. Who was your five? Who was your five?
My five Carmelo. Sorry, magic. But Carmelo gets the not over magic. A key in New England.
Danny Manning and Christian Layton. You have no guards. What kind of team is that?
I got Carmelo. That's all you need. Carmelo is small forward.
Oh, you know, it's a small forward. You don't have one on one side on that team, baby.
I have one guard on that team. I think Brian put it through AI. So the funny,
this was the funny thing. That's the best thing about AI, right? Some things are bad,
but I put it through chat GBT and it told me you had Darren seem would have won by four because
it basically like Harry was saying the rose pick. But then it's funny that I was playing around
with other players. I was like, well, what if I did Isaiah and had me winning by four? And then
I put in Hurley. And I put it Hurley. And it had me winning by eight if I would have put
Hurley in very weird, very well, keep it early over Jordan because, you know, Dean Smith,
Al Jordan's back in college. Well, Jordan is worth the greatest. Well, Harry, how I drafted
was based on guys who all won the NCAA championship because I was looking at as like an all
tournament type of guys like not like all stars guys who excelled in the tournament. And all five
of my guys were MVP of the tournament. So, so that's why I like my team. They all won.
If you if you want to pick, if you want to pick though, Darren instead of going back and forth
with Brian, would would you have had a large one in there? I originally had a large one. I
switched it to you and the large one never won a championship at Houston. So my guys all won.
That's and Jordan won, but worthy was the MVP of that team of the tournament.
I was looking at it from that point of view. But a large one didn't go to two championships though.
He did. He was awesome. I love a large one. I mean, can you imagine the large one in today's
game? Like those moves may be impossible. He might be he might be Harry's point guard on his team
and and three point specialists. That's that harry line of something else. I mean,
jeez. I mean, point cards are the most important position in these NCAA level.
Doesn't have one guy under six. He's got a small guy. He's got a small four.
Fantasy beach for junior by the way, guys. Yeah, I talked to Brad last night. Good for Brad.
He was for Brad. Way to go, Brad. That's a nice job. Before we go to the break because I do want
to get to our our baseball picks. I did. It just hit me. This is we should tell Tate, Harry.
Michael Jordan should just step up and take this North Carolina coaching job. What an easy layup
for he'll just get a ring. He could he you want alumni, just like Michael Jordan coaches team
for one year. He was he pulling NIL money. Whatever he was with the Charlotte Hornets,
general manager, he's the words about. Yeah, Michael Jordan could he wouldn't even have to go
on the road trips. Have someone else, the assistant coaches coach again. It's going to be an
interesting hire. That's going to be. Yeah, Kenny. No, it's a super tough hire. I don't know,
it seems like Nate Oates is the name that's coming out. I don't I don't take they should just throw
the bank at Jay right. Just get just throw throw everything at Jay right. I don't know. Yeah,
it's a good point. That's good one. Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, it's a super tough job to we'll have
to talk to Tate about that. Hey, baseball season underway next week. We're going to get to these
guys best bets and World Series predictions right after the break. All right, welcome back.
Opening day just a few days away. I can't even believe it. We're back. We got ABS,
the challenge system. We've got the Metz new faces on the Metz same faces on the Yankees.
I wish. I wish there were some new faces on our Yankees Barley kid, but let's let's let's get
in. So we have these on record. We want to give out our World Series picks, but also you're kind
of best bet futures bet for the year, which kind of tells the story. Brian, why don't we start
with you? Well, Fandall has some good props. You know, they have like you could bet pretty much
any player to hit 30 home runs or 40 home runs 50 or 60. So I kind of stole a Harry guy
and I was going to go Bobby Whitt to hit 30 home runs. So Whitt's numbers were down last year,
right? I mean, only a 23 home runs, but the two years before he had the low 30s.
But suppose that Kansas City, they moved the fences in and they made him shorter. So
they're in like 10 feet all around pretty much at the ballpark except for like center field
and left field, but it's 10 feet shorter. It's like the height of the walls like two feet shorter.
So I feel like Whitt's bound to have a bounce back really big year. And I know Harry's taking
him for like MVP in other years. So you might want to look at him MVP potentially too. But
yeah, 30 home runs. I think he was about even he was about even money to get 30.
You know what's so funny about that? I thought about that because Harry is usually one year off
on these bets. And he did have Bobby Whitt to win MVP. And I looked at it. He's a pretty
incredible plus 450. And if you think that the voter is kind of like Joe Kitch in the NBA that
judge has fatigue, you know, that he's one, two, straight three of the last floor.
And if you're in on the royals this year, I'm with you. That was actually one of mine is Bobby
Whitt for MVP only because Harry always a year early. So speaking of Harry, let's get to your
futures bet. I'm going to go Red Sox starting pitcher Garrett crochet over 222 and a half
strikeouts minus 120, 6, 6, 250 pound big guy only 26 years old. But what I like mostly here
reliable starting 42 games for the White Sox two years ago, 32 games last year for Boston
only getting like I said, only 26 years old in 2024 with Chicago. He had 209 last year
with Boston 255, 255 strikeouts in over 200 anythings. You just need 223 here minus 120. Give me that
Joe. I really like that a lot. Yeah, he blew that line away last year. But I mean, we can't
refer Red Sox Harry. It's good for you. Maybe not so much for us.
Well, before we get to part of the kid, one that I wanted to throw out, what do you guys?
I just was curious to look it up. What do you think is the Dodgers over under win total this year?
104 and a half. I was going to say 104 and a half. I was going to say 103 and a half.
You nailed it, Parley Kid. 103 and a half. So I actually think you take the under on that,
especially if you don't, if you don't want to see the Dodgers dominate this year. And
who knows they build a huge lead in division, rescues down the stretch, which they haven't
lasted the last couple of years. They've won 98 and 93. But yeah, minus 120 Dodgers under,
I don't know, Parley Kid, I don't know if you want to take that bet or you want to give out
a different futures. But yeah, listen, I like I like Harry's, what he just talked about,
crochet. I like that one a lot for sure. I'm just looking at these home run totals. I think
the odds are terrible here for terrible. I agree. I'm looking at these going like, you know,
I thought I was like, let me see what Junior Camin, Caminero is over, you know, over 40 home runs.
Yeah, yeah. I might get some nice really value. It's plus 142.
Say over 40 home runs. Like that's crap. That's that's crap. You can't touch these. You can't
touch these. I'm sorry. You cannot touch these at all. Unless you think judge can get 60,
what plus four, 15. And it's a shame because that's what I wanted to do. I looked at it this
with Sal last year. And I almost wanted to do a home run Derby like Parley of guys to hit over,
you know, over 30 over 40 and you're right. These odds are not helping anybody. I do like if I
was going to maybe take somebody in that home run department, maybe I look at a Rooker over 40
home runs at plus 280. Possibly, he said 39 two years ago. I also like Cam Schlittler of the
Yankees over 153 and a half strikeouts at minus 113. I think that's, you know, we obviously
saw what the kid can do. The Yankees are going to lean on them this year to be one of their main
guys. And, you know, guys touching one on one, one on two, 153 and a half seems reasonable.
As long as they don't have them on too short of a leash. And these Yankees are pissing me off
already, Joel. I'm already pissed off. I was pissed off. They, you know, they don't reward
guys for good springs. You know, like, I know, I'm not a spring training believer. It's,
it's, I think it's overhyped. But, you know, I like the man gets as a good spring. He's down.
Like, if I was coming out of college, say, and the Yankees were going to take me, I tell my
agent, don't let the Yankees draft me because they're there, especially maybe, maybe,
maybe if not for a picture, but if I am a everyday positional player, I do not want to go to
the Yankees because they don't develop those guys really. And they just keep them in the minors,
let them rot way too long. So that's just, I had to say that. But you're, you're not wrong.
But then again, look at the pirates. Everyone's upset. They're sending Connor Griffin down to start.
So, yeah, it's, it's, it's just bad for baseball, Parley. It is bad for baseball when these
guys get sent down. But let's get to our World Series picks. I don't, I will save you for
the last. How about that? We'll start with Harry. Let's start with Harry.
Well, you know, guys, not saying too much about that I gave up the Dodgers last year. But
I'm coming right back with again, plus two tend to win the World Series against the Detroit
Tigers. Look, Major League Baseball is just silly. Yeah, LA dominates the market so much that you
really can't take anybody else. I think it went out and got Kyle Tucker, you know,
not that they didn't need him, but they went. I've got him too. Guy was got 20 on runs,
five years in a row. And, you know, Yankees at 10 to 1. No thanks. Met's 13 also. No thanks at
13 to 1. Just can't get it done. Dodgers are too deep pitching wise. And all offensive wise,
they just put up the runs and you got to beat now Detroit. I know, I like Brian's pick for
when he gets to it on the American League, too. But I'm going to go Detroit here. You get
Justin Berlander coming back to Detroit to go to jump in with Scoobal and Myz in the starting
rotation for the Tigers. I think that's tremendous. Myz and Scoobal combined last year, 27 wins.
I love Will Vest as well. Out of the bullpen for that team. He was screwed for them last year.
Riley greens a star, 36 homers, 111 RBIs last year. So I think Detroit gets it done in the
American League goes up against the Dodgers, but the Dodgers win again. I got him again,
to where they haven't played one game yet. And the Dodgers are only close to 10, but taking them,
taking them. Well, I don't know if it'll be Justin Berlander that put them over the top, but I do
like it. He is, he is like that Kershaw guy, maybe in the in the in the dugout that kind of
gives them something to play for. He could still bring it a little, he could still bring it more
than Kershaw good last year. All right, interesting pick. All right. So Dodgers and Tigers for
Harry, Brian, I feel like yours is the pick though. Yeah, look, well, I mean, I who knows. I mean,
we're all going to say the Dodgers here, but yeah, I had a Dodgers Seattle matchup. It's 12 to 1.
Look, Seattle last year might have been the best team in the American League, right? ALCS,
they were up 32, Losson, seven game. You know, they have good pitching depths.
Middle of the top of that lineup is good. Adding Donovan for them, who's like a good, you know,
he's a type of like player. I feel like helps a playoff roster a lot, you know, kind of a winning
type player. And he's still pretty young too, Donovan. So it's a good trade for them.
You know, he'll get on base. He won't, you know, he'll walk. He won't strike out a ton.
Little bit of power. Good, good average. So I thought that was going to pick up. So yeah,
I like those two teams. 12 to 1. I'm not going to be a homer. I'm not going to, not going to say the Yankees.
Seattle's got to have a sour taste in their mouth. They had the blue jays on the ropes. What?
They were up to 0. And yeah, I think the biggest thing was Randy, a resident, I apologize to
Cal Raleigh. So that was big. So you had to, I don't know, parlay kid. If anyone's going to go
against the Dodgers, I think it could be you. We've talked about this. The funny thing is I
thought the biggest thing for them last year was Dave Roberts. And maybe Dave Roberts over
manages himself. Meanwhile, he pushed every right button in the world series. He really did.
So that would have been my knock on the Dodgers is the managing, but
will you, do you have a clean sweep for us with the Dodgers? Look, you have to go with the Dodgers.
Oh, you're not going to put the pressure on the meds, parlay kid.
Well, look, the meds should win that division, the best thing in the East. How about that?
You know how, yeah, look, you can't go how this Dodgers team until they lose again,
like you just got to assume they're going to win it. Brian, I was looking at what you were looking
at with the name, the finalists. Is it me? Do I not see the Yankees listed amongst the name,
the finalists teams on Fandall? You just have to scroll down. I have to keep going. Oh my god,
no, I don't see it. I really don't see the Yankees. I see the meds. I do not see the Yankees listed
here on it. Maybe I'm, maybe I'm just not saying that's your algorithm. New York Fandall, New York
Fandall, that's how it is. But Joe, I think, look, 10 to 1 is probably the best value you're going
to get to start a season. Yankees, Yankees, Dodgers 12 to 1. Is that there? I don't see it.
Name the finalists. I don't really. I don't mind. I'm not going down to the Dodgers.
Dodgers. Okay, maybe that's four of this. Okay, either way, what out? That's 12 to 1. Look,
I can rail about the Yankees as much as I want. But the bottom line is they're going to be in the playoffs.
Right? And one of these years, they're going to win it all. But it's probably not going to be
against this Dodgers team. I don't think they could do it. I still think they're the premier team
in the American League for sure. You got probably the greatest hitter in the game today.
In judge, Cole will be back. You got some really good, strong young arms. Is it right?
At least to start the season, addition by subtraction to not have Volpy at shortstop. It might be
your defense is much improved, even though I don't like his batman. Man is obviously an excellent
third baseman. The best glove we've had. Probably since our shella has been there. In this case,
he's probably even better than a shella there. He's still got to like jazz. He's, you know,
guy was close to 40, 40 last year. I don't know. And you have any, I don't even think you've
mentioned Garakol yet. Well, Cole's coming back. Yeah, that's, you know, that's fantastic. And,
you know, Cole wants to win a title in the worst way. I'm sure too. So, I mean, it's still the
best team in the East. So I like, you know, I think Dodgers to beat the Yankees in the World Series
are repeat of a couple of years back would be the, would I go with that? It's boring, but
that's just probably how it's going to play out. You know, I don't know. What a surprise anybody
for sure. And I think, well, I think the Red Sox will be sneaky good this year. I shouldn't say
sneaky good, because I think some people are expecting that too. But I think the Red Sox
going to be a pain the rear end for the Yankees and they Toronto takes a little step back,
little step. Yeah, I agree. And that division or the Yankees, it just seems like every year,
they juggle around and I agree the Red Sox may be a bounce back here. I asked you the wrong
question. I should have asked you is Aaron Boone still the manager at the All-Star Park? That's
what I should have asked you. Yep. There'll be the manager of the Yankees in four All-Star
race now. Oh, no. Oh, no. I don't want to ruin your birthday.
Brian, any parting words for the birthday boy over there and he well wishes for him.
Come on. No, it's, uh, yeah, Darren's 10 years, 10 years over. Yeah. 56 years sober. 56.
Yeah. The LT year. There it is.
Darren. Unbelievable. Darren, Darren, brother John Wish out and said they happy birthday.
All right. Well, listen, uh, you can find him at still AIO, uh, on Twitter or, or email us any,
any, um, advice or he, hopefully you just don't get a rash this year, Parley.
It is my wish for you. By the way, yeah, we haven't talked about it. You know, I still have it.
No, impossible. No, it's still possible. It's still possible. No, I do. It's gotten better.
But I don't think it's going to, I think it's going to be lingering for years.
It's two months. It's six months. I just passed a six-month anniversary of my
I still have it. Joel, I do. Pixant has helped it a little bit, uh, because I'm on that and I'm
running out. I'm going to get off of that now because it's just a matter of not aggravating it.
If I scratch it, if it wears up, I can't scratch it. But it's almost impossible. It's,
Joel, it's so much better. I'm living with it. I'm fine. But like,
you know, it's still, I'm still dealing with it. Yeah.
This is, this is shocking. Out of anything, I had no idea. Yeah. You really are. You are
day-to-day. It's so much better, though. So I'm like, there are times I'm not even thinking about
it. And there are times when I'm like, God damn it. It's still bothering me. You know, but
it's, it's, I'm better with it. So I haven't mentioned it. So I got to do more after you,
hung with Ben Calli. I'm trying to remember. Oh, come on. Come on, bro. Oh, man. All right,
partly kids heading to the US open. What a birthday gift. Harry's not heading to Backstreet Boys
at the sphere. Wow. All thanks to Purdue and Matt Painter. They're moving on.
