So we won't just re-elect our majorities this November, we'll expose the corruption
0:10
and radicalism of the Democrat Party, it's a lunatic, it's a party of lunatics, we'll defeat
0:15
the forces of national destruction, we'll complete our mission of national renewal, and
0:21
the Republican Party will grow larger, stronger and more dominant than ever before we have
0:26
a chance to do that, because we're competing against lunatics and the public knows it and
0:32
they're seeing it every single day.

You're listening to the 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.
0:38
Good Saturday morning, so nice to have you with us on the 47 Morning Update and we've
0:42
got a big story for you.
0:44
President Donald Trump goes to Memphis, Tennessee to talk about a massive reduction in that
0:50
vulnerable city with crime statistics, literally saving countless lives.
0:56
So why did the mayor and Memphis not show up and why our Democrats angry that crime is
1:02
being lowered all over the country, where President Trump gets involved?
1:06
It's the 47 Morning Update and it starts right now.
1:12
Crime in America it is dropping and it's not happening by accident, it's happening because
1:17
for the first time in years.
1:20
Here's a President in the White House who made one thing clear from day one.
1:24
We're going to go back to policing.
1:27
We are going to enforce the laws that we have on the books and we're going to take our
1:32
streets back so that all Americans can feel safe.
1:37
Now let's talk facts because the numbers are truly incredible and they don't lie.
1:42
Across the country, major cities are reporting.
1:46
People did it drops in violent crime in many liberal metro areas.
1:51
Homicides are down significantly from their recent peaks, property crimes, stabilizing
1:57
after years of spikes, and some cities were seeing murder rates down 10 to 20 percent year
2:05
Shootings are declining as targeted enforcement is ramped up under Trump's leadership and
2:11
law enforcement officials are pointing to some very specific things.
2:15
And they're allowing for all this to happen.
2:18
Number one, a shift in federal posture.
2:22
That all because of the President.
2:25
Also a shift in priorities from federal law enforcement.
2:29
And then the biggest part a shift in leadership from the White House all the way down.
2:35
Now let's be honest, this didn't start in a vacuum.
2:39
For years we were told police should be cut back.
2:42
It should be reduced and criminals should be given more leniency and more second, third,
2:48
fourth, fifth and sixth chances.
2:50
What happened under the Democrats' plan?
2:55
Cities became less safe.
2:57
Communities paid the price and Americans lost their lives.
3:01
Then President Trump came in and flipped the script.
3:04
From day one, the Trump administration said we will always back the blue.
3:09
That wasn't just a slogan.
3:11
It literally became their policy.
3:13
Federal support for local police departments has increased.
3:17
Prosecutors were encouraged to pursue violent offenders aggressively.
3:21
And repeat offenders were targeted instead of being released.
3:25
And just as important, police morale started going back up in this country.
3:30
When officers know the White House had their back, they got to do their jobs more efficiently.
3:36
And criminals knew it.
3:38
Now targeting the worst offenders was also part of the plan.
3:41
It was another major shift.
3:43
Going after the most dangerous criminals first, violent repeat offenders, gang members, drug
3:49
traffickers, illegal immigrants with hardcore criminal records.
3:55
That is where ICE operations and federal partnerships came into play.
3:59
Instead of ignoring the problem, the administration leaned in, arresting thousands of high-risk
4:05
individuals, removing threats from communities, sending a message that lawlessness will not
4:12
Now Trump's message has always been simple, law and order.
4:17
And President Trump has been consistent saying, we will not allow our cities to be taken over
4:23
And he's emphasized that safety is not political.
4:26
It's fundamental to a great country saying every American deserves to live in a safe community.
4:34
And that message is clearly resonating with many Americans who are living in really
4:39
high crime neighborhoods.
4:41
To law enforcement, the president said, hey, I got you to do your job.
4:46
And to the criminals, the president said the rules are being enforced again.
4:50
So get ready because we're coming for you.
4:56
Crime rates have dropped significantly.
4:59
And if you want to look at one example of that, look at what the president did in Memphis,
5:03
Tennessee, on Monday.
5:06
He said, we've fixed the Memphis crime problem.
5:09
That obviously is my hometown.
5:12
And President Trump declared on Monday that the crime problem has been solved through
5:17
the Memphis Safe Task Force.
5:20
Now Trump's comments came during a Memphis Task Force roundtable where he highlighted
5:25
high levels of crime in the city of the year he returned to the Oval Office.
5:29
Here's part of what the president had to say.
5:32
A few years prior to our involvement, Memphis had become known for something else.
5:37
Being the murder capital of the USA, then not a good title.
5:41
It was averaging far more than one murder per day with a crime rate higher than Columbia,
5:47
a Mexico City, or Baghdad.
5:50
In the year, I shouldn't be saying this, but he's a good news.
5:56
I hate to say this because it's so negative, and so negative.
6:00
In the year before I took office, Memphis, more than 12,500 violent assaults, 429 rapes
6:08
and 7,600 burglaries and armed robbers.
6:13
I mean, it was, and getting worse.
6:16
This catastrophe was a result of years of local politicians, judges, and prosecutors who
6:22
sided with violent criminals over law-abiding citizens.
6:27
Over law-abiding citizens, it was an average far more than one murder per day.
6:33
That is what the people of Memphis were dealing with, with a crime rate higher than Columbia,
6:39
Mexico City, or even Baghdad.
6:42
That's something that the media never wanted you to know.
6:46
He said crime levels were the products of years of local politicians, judges, and prosecutors
6:53
who sided with violent criminals over the law-abiding citizens.
6:58
Fox 13 Memphis, report on March 18th, that overall crime in the city is down 43 percent compared
7:06
to the same period in 2025 before Trump instituted the task force.
7:12
Meanwhile, the White House shared figures Monday, underscoring the stark drop in specific
7:17
crime categories, motor vehicle thefts down 67 percent, robberies in Memphis down 51 percent,
7:27
sexual assaults down 38 percent, homicides are down 35 percent, burglaries are down 32 percent,
7:35
and aggravated assaults are down 31 percent.
7:39
Trump announced back in September efforts to crack down on crime in Memphis on the heels
7:45
of his immediate success in dealing with crime in Washington, DC, on September the 15th.
7:52
He signed a memo establishing the Memphis task force, and what happened, well it's truly
7:58
incredible, the numbers don't lie.
8:01
Here's what the president had to say from the Oval Office, when he started this back in
8:07
Today at the request of Governor Bill Lee of Tennessee standing with us, as you know,
8:14
I'm signing a presidential memorandum to establish the Memphis safe task force, and it's
8:21
very important because of the crime that's going on, not only in Memphis, in many cities
8:25
who are going to take care of all of them, step by step, just like we did in DC, we have
8:30
virtually no crime in DC right now, and we're going to keep it that way, it's our nation's
8:35
capital, we're going to keep it that way, and we're going to federalize it if we had
8:38
to, but we don't have to anymore because it's in such great shape.
8:42
This task force will be a replica of our extraordinarily successful efforts here, and you'll see
8:48
it's a lot of the same thing, although the numbers here are really something, they're
8:53
Now we did send FBI at about four months ago to work and approach some of the numbers
8:57
down, and they did a great job, but we're sending in the big force now.
9:03
You got to ask yourself this question, why would the president of the United States of
9:06
America do something like this in liberal cities?
9:10
Because he truly believes that every American has the right to be safe.
9:15
He said it's very important because the crime that's going on, not only in Memphis, in
9:19
many cities, and we're going to take care of all of them, step by step, just like we did
9:25
Trump said all of this, as he was standing by the governor of Tennessee, Bill Lee, Senator
9:30
Marsha Blackburn and Bill Haggerty, making it clear that we are moving forward.
9:35
We have virtually no crime in DC right now, the president reminded the country.
9:40
And we're going to keep it that way, he added, it's our nation's capital.
9:45
We're going to keep it that way, or we're going to federalize it if we had to, but we
9:50
don't have to anymore because it's in such great shape.
9:54
Now if you're an American, and it doesn't matter where you live right now, you should
9:59
be proud of the president of the United States of America pulling this off so quickly, from
10:03
a meeting in the Oval Office in September, to massive reductions in crime, come March.
10:12
That is truly historic.
10:15
Usually this is something politicians say, take years or multiple election cycles.
10:21
The president's doing it in a matter of months.
10:26
Because the president said to law enforcement, we have your back, do your job.
10:33
And the president also made it clear, we're not leaving.
10:37
We're going to continue to be involved in Memphis and other cities.
10:41
And there are more cities that we're going to be targeting soon.
10:44
So Democrats can say all they want to, that they hate President Trump, but the American
10:50
people it's pretty clear, they're happy with what the president's doing right now.
