Panthers Sign Local Linebacker Nick Hampton

NFL stories making news on March 21st, the Carolina Panthers are bringing in some local defensive talent with outside linebacker Nick Hampton.

The team has reached a deal with the 27-year-old South Carolina native who grew up in Anderson and started Westside High School.

Hampton built his resume at Appalachian State University from 2018 to 2022.

There, he earned third team Allsund Bell honors as a junior and first team recognition in his senior year.

Drafted in the fifth round by the Los Angeles Rams in 2023, Hampton has spent his pro career mostly on special teams.

Over 36 games through the 2025 season, he notched 17 tackles and two passes defense.

This move adds depth to the Panthers linebacker group, especially from a player familiar with the region.

Hampton could compete for snaps right away and Carolina's revamped defense.
