This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE! PART TWO
For Jason Faust, an interest in the paranormal started early—long before he ever imagined it would become his life’s work.
What began as curiosity eventually led him into full-time investigation, taking on cases from people dealing with activity they can’t explain—and often can’t escape. From homes filled with persistent disturbances to encounters that go far beyond a typical haunting, Jason has seen how quickly things can escalate.
He shares what he’s learned from years in the field, including how he approaches cases that may involve darker entities, what separates everyday paranormal activity from something more intense, and the patterns he’s noticed in the people these experiences seem to affect. Through firsthand accounts, Jason offers insight into what it’s like to walk into environments where the activity feels different—and harder to ignore.
It’s a look at the side of the paranormal that many investigators avoid—and what happens when curiosity leads somewhere much darker.

Welcome to part two of our conversation with Jason Faust
about ghosts among us.
Let's talk a little bit more about situations here where you had mentioned earlier
that your odds of, and if I'm just trying to paraphrase,
I'm not trying to put words into your mouth.
So if I'm saying something incorrect, please correct me,
that the odds of running into a situation where it is something truly demonic or a dark force
in a home are very slim compared to that of something that is more earthbound that you can
reason with and you can say, hey, look, we can live peacefully.
Let's just not scare each other and more times than not, that's the simple solution.
But there are certainly cases where there's a situation where there is something darker going on
in a home that may not agree to, you know,
said human encounter and said human, you know, agreement, one sided agreement of,
we're going to coexist.
You be quiet and I'll be good.
Where that doesn't work and it still wants to keep going and it does seem to have some sort
of ill intent. Have you ever come across that personally in any of your investigations where it
was like, this is not that. There's something else going on here that seems to be
kind of dark and more than what I normally run into.
I have actually had two cases like that, both of them are in Omaha.
The one case actually I never actually made it out to the house.
We spent the day talking on the phone trying to figure some stuff out.
The gentleman who had contacted me had already had a team come in and I mean,
I don't know how much you know about like the investigators field researchers like us,
what we do, we don't charge. If we're offered a tip for what we do, we'll have cut it.
Sure.
But anybody who's worth a darn in this field, they don't charge.
No.
And so this team had gone into his home and I guess had up a bunch of equipment
with a lot of recordings and then ended up charging him quite a little sum of money and then went
AWOL. And so that case was actually kind of interesting because it was several factors in what
we did there. But as far as what he had, there was physical harm to his family happening.
The reports of what he was telling me, there was a lot of scary stuff in that house.
And I went ahead and I got in touch with a team and this is where I was telling the team
out of Des Moines actually came in. And I got in touch with this team and they ended up spending
the first weekend there. I think they were there like Friday through Monday.
And then they went out the very next weekend as well and spent a good amount of time.
And I almost want to say they were, they made a third trip just as like a tough follow-up,
like a month later to make sure things were going good. But
that type of case, you know, it's a little bit out of my league. I won't go ahead and just admit it.
That's something that I'm just going to, you know, offer out to other teams that are willing
to do that stuff. And I had the other case in Omaha that I had. There was a young lady that was
very, very afraid. You know, coming home and there'd be broken glass in the carpet, there would be
just odd things that would cause bodily harm, you know, and she was very afraid and she thought
it was demonic stuff. I don't know if I'd go that far, but it was very
dangerous. It was not nice in whatsoever. And so I ended up having a team out of Minnesota
that was going to come in. And we had it all set up and she called us. She goes, yeah, we're moving.
She said, we're moving and until we find a house, we're going to be staying at a relative
house. And, yeah, this one's going to be empty. And so the team out of Minnesota will leave
our business card on the counter for the next resident. Yeah, that's a great one to walk into
when you're at the end. Hey, honey, we're in our new house. This is great. It's going to be
wonderful. Oh, look, the realtor left their car. Wait a second. This isn't the realtor card.
demonic exorcisms of homes. What the fuck? Yeah, that might not be the best housewarming gift
that one could find. Or like the nice little letter, sometimes people leave of the memories
that they made in the house and they wish you the same. No, right. Here's a list of all the things
that we tend to believe why the devil is inhabiting our home. Good luck. Drop the mic. We're out.
Yeah, it's no kid. But I mean, it happens obviously. That's how that can work. This isn't
an interesting thing because I talk to hundreds of people and shows been on the air for many,
many, many, many years. And depending on who I talk to, I majority I will say of investigators
that I talk to have your opinion of that demonic cases. Yes, they're out there, but they are fewer
and far between compared to the rest. However, there's a few folks that I will talk to
that will seem to have the opposite opinion that there's many more out there than we realize
that sometimes these things are taking on a different form or a different way of being perceived
to hide their true identities. Now, some of the folks who are making those claims very well
respected and very experienced too, I hear it quite often, honestly, from from several of the members
of the New England Research Paranormal Society and in Lorraine Warren's original group.
And the people who are still running that, I hear that claim from some of those members.
And I talk to them on a fairly regular basis on this on the air. Do you do you think that that
is in fact the case that that there's more of that going on where things are disguising their
identity or do these things that are darker only come out for those who they know can handle them.
It's almost like I'm not going to even play ball with these guys because they for you know,
they don't have the experience of, you know, a demonologist or something. So why even mess with
this because it's not going to be any fun or, you know, I don't know what the thought process is
of a demon, but it makes you wonder a little bit how there can be very kind of almost opposing
views not, you know, against each other or anything like that, but just in ways of viewing the
spirits that are out there in terms of who's encountering what?
It's it's so hard when you can't see who you're communicating with. Sure.
And my studies go really deep and show many different directions. I look at the religion
aspects. I look at the scientific aspects and different branches of each. Okay, like I don't just
look at the Christian denominations. I don't look at just the basic sciences and stuff.
And you look at the metaphysical, you look at, you know, the psychological stuff. All the,
you've got to be broad in your view as far as working in this field. And
when you look in the religious aspect of demons and what is involved,
demons are not going to play parlor tricks. So as far as your question goes with, you know,
them disguising themselves,
different religious aspects is just they're not going to play the parlor tricks or not.
They're going to come out and just pretty much mean business.
I just read, it's so funny that you contacted me because I just ordered your first book
a couple of months ago. No. Well, thank you. There was, and I loved it. I loved it. But there
was one story in there about a gentleman who had gone to a cemetery and it was a large mass
in a tool shed that he kept encountering as he went back. You heard call this story kind of.
I know you have, you have so many stories to remember. I know that. Yeah.
That one, like, it's always like that to believe that make me believe that the demonic exist.
Because from the word go, this guy was experiencing this large looming for boating
a entity and it was kind of tormenting him from his first visit. And I mean, the first visit
seemed somewhat benign. They went into the tool shed. They thought that staying on the back wall,
turned back to look at the stain and the stain was gone and it was a shadow looming over them
and they weren't running out and kind of laughed it off, whatever. Yeah. But they kept returning
to the site and the more they were turned to the site, the more this entity just tormented him.
Sure. And he ended up studying in the demonology and referring to friends who knew about this stuff.
And that's, in my studies, that's what I have found what a demon will do.
You run into something evil. They're not going to think what you're doing and mess with them,
whatever. And they're going to let you know it. Yeah. But then on the other hand, it's like, okay,
with technology and the cyber media that we have now. And people go nuts because I say the word,
but it's the Ouija demon. It's comical to me because when you really look at this and you
you delve into what the Ouija demon, the current is a internet temptation and nothing more.
You look in. There is history to the Ouija demon. Yeah. But it is so far back.
And so it's two different things. It's, you know, but I say, we could delve into this really,
really deep. But there are people who believe Reddit stories and creepypuff is like slender man and
there's still people who believe in the Russian sleep experiment. Even though this stuff has been
come out and admittedly like this was a fabricated story or a creative writing type. Yeah.
It makes you wonder there sometimes where you have situations like that and it originates as a
fabricated story. But when people take it as real or take it as serious, sometimes it makes me wonder,
can that end up almost taking on a life of its own? Can that create or can that maybe not create
energy? But can some misguided energy or dark energy see that as an opportunity of, oh, you're
looking for this specific demon? Sure. I'll be that one today. And it's getting that open door.
It's getting that green light to come in. And it's, it's then having these effects on people
where maybe all these, you know, experiences that we hear about with this specific Ouija demon or
this or that may not be that specific demon. But is it in fact the doors being open and somebody's
asking for something? And these things can be tricky. You know, can it just this the idea of
opening the door to that, which may have been based on a falsehood story or a creative writing
piece, but then applied in real life? Can that then be the, you know, the catalyst for
inviting something else in that's going to take on a whole life of its own?
Oh, I absolutely don't see why not because I mean, it's residual energy is very powerful.
Yeah. There are many places that are haunted because like, say, you have a school house.
I've been to a couple of school houses that have activity, but nothing negative has ever happened
there. And you go to these locations and there's no negative activity. It's very positive feel to
it, but you'll get this activity. And what it is is it's a residual energy of so many people
being there, so many people being happy in that location that that happy energy just still resides
from all those years. Now it goes the other way too. Yeah. So you have, let's take prison and,
you know, forgive me for using the old term in the entertainment island. Yeah, it's fine. Yeah.
But, you know, there's a lot of turmoil in those locations. A lot of
hurting emotionally, physically, mentally hurting. And so that residual energy would stay
and, you know, maybe not these prominent energies, but like, you know, that that sad energy stays
and that's an residual thing. Sure. But what you're describing is a very good example of what
residual energy would happen. We give that that we we ourselves give that energy to
something and it manifests. Yeah. You know, and so I was totally subscribed to that theory. Sure.
But, well, now I'm bringing part because as you were talking about that, I was going to say,
I was going to say something on demons. It happens. There's so many roads we go down.
It's hard to stay on on topic because you get into wanting like, oh, this should be an interesting
thing to discuss and you keep moving. I keep a no I keep a no pet in front of me as we go and I
kind of end up jumping back and forth. Let me ask you this in closing and Jason, I'd love to have
you back on again sometime and we can certainly go down these roads and you know, we have a completely
different conversation. But to wrap up this one today, earlier you were talking about areas where
you live almost being like a ghost desert. I would I would call it where there doesn't seem to be
a lot of reported activity. Sure, there's stuff here and there, but it's not as is active,
quote unquote, as some other areas of the country or many other areas of the country. When you look
at that in in perspective, do you think that is is truly the case that that there is a massive
lack of paranormal activity going on in certain places or is it more so a lack of the living
not talking about it or really trying to avoid the reality of these things going on and a lot of
brushing off in certain areas more than others. And that's why you don't necessarily hear about
those sort of things because it's not as socially acceptable to talk about them.
Well, no, I might have misrepresented my comments there. Okay. When I when I was saying like
comparing Nebraska to Kansas and Iowa, Kansas and Iowa has more commercial
okay, lack of a better word commercial location where like you said, like the tourist
investigators or the weekend warriors can go. Yeah. Nebraska doesn't have like we just had our very
first location opened what two years ago and why more Nebraska is called the Stevenson Building.
Other than that, we have a lot of haunted locations that a lot of people know about and a lot of
them. People don't know the real history. They know kind of like the urban legends of them.
But as far as like, yeah, like activities very high, especially here in Lincoln,
it's just that we don't commercialize it. Sure. Okay. I guess I missed my misunderstood your
your viewpoint on that and that clarifies it more because I know some. I didn't make it clear.
Sure. And some people will think that way almost, you know, the way that I had taken it.
So I mean, let's take it from that perspective where someone will say,
ah, there's, you know, this city doesn't have many ghost stories or things like that.
Do you feel like ghost stories are spread out? I mean, obviously areas that have, you know,
tragic events and, you know, massive fires or saw war and things of that nature,
likely to probably be a bit more hot than a town or a city that has been relatively peaceful
throughout most of its existence. But exclude those from, from this thought and just kind of go
with the average area that, you know, it's seen its ups and downs, but hasn't had, you know,
horrible, you know, a flood knock out the town and everybody's dead. Do you feel like, you know,
hauntings are pretty equal no matter where you go throughout the country, aside from those
tragic spikes that ghosts are really truly pretty much everywhere that people have been?
I, yeah, I honestly do think we're totally surrounded by activity.
Now we're, excuse me, we're not surrounded by the activity. We're surrounded by the energy.
I mean, Einstein said energy is infinite. Once we're gone, whether we go, a lot of people
go to heaven hell, whatever you believe in. A lot of that energy stays on its earth and we
are surrounded by that energy. And a lot of it is residual energy. I mean, you can live in a house
for 50 years. Watch Jeopardy every night and not even realize that there's an energy in the corner of
your room. Yeah. Well, that's because everyone is enthralled with Alex Trebek and they're just like,
oh my god, he's still alive. You know, I'm making a horrible joke.
Absolutely, but because somebody's going to hear this two years from now and be like,
that's horrible. He died the other year. And I love Alex Trebek. So I'm dying.
I do too. I do too. He's awesome. But like, no, I'm on your question. Yeah. I think
I just think it's in different areas, different regions. That's more discussed. It's more open.
Some regions that's like, you know, if I'm asked about it, I'll talk about it. Sure.
Two years ago, we went to Hawaii. And it was so funny because like, I loved interacting with
some of the polities and folks. And they would tell me wonderful stories. And they weren't so much
about colonies. There was more about tradition and superstition. And so it was, but I would have
never known had I not been wearing my heartland garb. And, you know, gone up and said, you know,
hey, do you have on the locations around this area. But once I started the conversation,
boy, the stories were just flowing. Sure. And that happens a lot of places, actually.
I, you know, we could be at a park here in Lincoln, Dylan, something. And actually it happened,
Lake Street Lake. And my wife saw an old gentleman on the sports cross street. She went over and
said, I'm about, you know, have you ever witnessed activity with Lake Street Lake being,
you know, reportedly on it. And he wasn't really in the talking or whatever. Well, I didn't know
that she had gone over and talked to him. I went over and I introduced myself. I'm said to
one more apartment, apparently normal. And I do paranormal investigations.
Boom. Dude opened up and was like, you know, hey, I'm never a witness anything. But I've heard
stories you want to hear. I do. So I think it's just, you know, different people open up to
different folks. And but like I said, some regions, I just don't think it's, you know, some people
are just, yeah, you know, we, we might believe in it. We just don't talk about it. That wraps
out the second half of our conversation with Jason Faust. A big thank you to him for joining us on
today's program and discussing his experiences. Until next time for the Grave Talks. I'm Tony
