Part 2 - Bible Study - Exodus 12:34-36

0:00Amen, glory to God. Welcome to the program. Welcome to Cafe Pastor Clark Covington here, the another episode of KJV Cafe. As always, thank you for joining me today at the Cafe. Hopefully you're having a blessed day and a blessed week as we grow in God's Word together. I'm so thankful to spend time in God's Word with you today. And for time's sake, we'll get right to it. We're trying to pack in a good bit of information in just three episodes. If you haven't already, this is part two. Look at Exodus 12, 34, through 36. Listen to part one, to get a framework, kind of building up to what's happening here in 34, 35 and 36. Starverse 34 of Exodus 12, the people took their dough before it was leavened, their kneading troughs being bound up in their clothes upon their shoulders. And the children of Israel did according to the Word of Moses. And they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver and jewels of gold and raiment. And the Lord gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians so that they let unto them such things as they required. And they spoiled the

1:00Egyptians. That's 34, 35 and 36. So in the last episode, we talked about this idea of a sudden departure of the Israelites. And we tried to really look at what this would look like in light of the 10 plagues. The fact that there was all these horrific plagues, nine of them that didn't get them to the part. Right? When you really think by the first, it could have been the fear of God gone out into the Egyptians in a Pharaoh and they could have gone. But God in his wisdom, in his mercy, in his timing, in his teaching, if you will, allowed 10 plagues to occur. And then the immediate deliverance of the Israelites, this shows God's power is sovereignty, his sovereignty. The fact that God's in full control, he gives us this account, this very account we just read, he gives us that account in multiple times. Okay, starting in Genesis 15. Okay. And we have like starting in verse 12 of Genesis 15, God tells Abram, who'd

2:02become Abraham, this exact account. When the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram and low a horror of great darkness fell upon him. And he said unto Abram, no, of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs. And she'll serve them and they shall afflict them 400 years. Okay. So Abraham is having a vision. He's having a deep sleep. He's having a vision. There's a great darkness upon him symbolizing this dark vision that Abraham's mighty group of people. And at this point, we believe it's over a million people. Okay. Is going to suffer, right? Is going to abound and at the same time suffer under this master, the Egyptians. They see, they see, she'll be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, Egypt, shall serve them the Egyptians and they shall afflict them for 400 years.

3:03People say, oh, they weren't really servants. They weren't really slaves. Look up what it's like to make strawberries in Egypt. People still do it with the mud and all the rest. It's not easy. It's backbreaking work. It's hot. It's challenging. It's hard. They were slaves. You might use a different term, you know, servant, right? Whatever else they can use all different kinds of terms. Okay. Employee, you call it what you want. We were waiting in line. It was taking my son to get lunch yesterday. We were waiting in line. And this woman was talking about the old times here. It's still a very sore subject of coal mines and stuff and steel mills and whatnot in Appalachia that would have their own currency. And they would pay the worker in their own currency. And then the worker would have to go shop at the store with their own currency in borrow and their own currency. And this currency was not really good. So it locked the worker

4:04into this corrupt economy. It made the worker kind of like a quasi slave or a servant or indentured servant of some kind. And it was just real nasty. It just shows the nastiness of human nature. And still a very sore subject. This woman was very bothered by it. And we were talking about modern day kind of like being paid. If you were a employee and then you would get a share of the tips and that's where she was drawing the reference from. And like I said, still a sore topic. Nobody likes being taken advantage of no one likes being scammed. No one likes being put down. That's why there's this this kind of feeling in our country in America today of frustration with the higher ups because of that. And there's movements, political movements that gain that are gaining steam that are in my opinion very dangerous movements that are like, Hey, we'll treat everyone the same. Yeah, you know what that's called, right? They're dangerous

5:04movements, but they're gaining popularity for a reason. Okay. And I'll give one example. And then we'll move right on. But the currently at the time of recording and who knows when you hear this, the time of recording the mayor of New York City is a Muslim. And we just celebrated the 25th anniversary didn't celebrate, but you know, kind of mourned or recognized the 25th anniversary of 9-11, which if you're from that area, for anywhere in America, you know how hurtful it is, but from that area, it's a very, very open wound still. It's very, very challenging. Who would have thought 25 years later? You would have someone of the same faith. No, and he may not be radical or whatever. I don't know, you know, she is soon. I don't know where he identifies. But he's a Muslim. And he's there 25 years later at this memorial. And it was a very awkward kind of look. And yet you wonder how could someone like that come to power in a place that that had been attacked? Well, because they were sick of seeing the rich get richer and the poor get poor and all the rest. And he's by

6:08his own admission somewhat of a socialist. And so you see him get elected. And so you say, if that could happen there, where again, it's 9-11 is still a very, very emotional thing for many people. And if he could get elected, you know, put politics aside, just look at the idea that he identifies with this socialistic standard, the socialistic idea, this communist idea, this Marxist idea, these ideals that are that are very dangerous. And people are like, yeah, put him in power. Well, why? Because they feel disenfranchised by the coal mine, so to speak, you know, by the steel mill, so to speak, on and on and on. That's why you have the rise in unions and so forth. It's a very fascinating thing. Again, just being apolitical, you know, talking about this party, that party, just looking at the oppression of society and what it brings about. It's a very dark thing. It was happening in Appalachia 100 years ago. It was happening 25 years ago during 9-11. It's happening now in the light of 9-11 and all the rest. And it will happen sadly, probably here on earth until the Lord returns. I mean, certainly you have

7:11some level of universal control and universal distribution at the time of the Antichrist. So when you look at cryptocurrency and again, this kind of growing foement is growing desire for equal distribution that was locked stepped with the tribulation period, the Antichrist and all the rest. You probably got you thinking about a lot of stuff. All of that to say God's plan will happen and God planned for Israel to be afflicted 400 years and God planned what afterwards a judgment in the which what happens. And also that nation whom they shall serve will I judge? He's going to judge that nation. He judged Egypt here. And afterwards shall they come out with great substance. That is the idea of saying, give me if I may, all your gold and silver and nice clothes. And they did. And they did. God in at least in the part realized how poor and needy Israel was. And in their deliverance being taken advantage of and hurt and

8:15manipulated and connived against and talked about and unfairly accused all rest. In part, he says, leave with great riches. Take it from them. Think of it. They willingly gave it to them. They just lost their first born. And they said, here's my gold ring. Here's my silver on necklace. Here's my diamond earring. This is what it may be. Take it and go. All right. We'll take a break. All right. Back to the program. So what does this mean? I think there's so many layers to this as we've talked about it. And I've given you a bunch to think about. I've given you probably 20 little ideas and didn't expand on any of them. Forgive me for that. But timesake, we have to kind of keep it focused. I think, first of all,

9:18most plainly, when they're raiding the Egyptians, they're plundering the Egyptians, most plainly in my mind, I'm thinking all the stuff they need for the worship of God in the wilderness and in Canaan land. Like that was the most plain thing I thought of. Like this is what, and sadly, what they end up using to make the molten calf in the wilderness, right? But in my mind, I'm just thinking God's giving them great riches in which they'll return to him in worship and in offerings and the like. Even if it were like they had a talent of gold they had achieved, let's say a group of the Israelites or one of the tribes or whatever. And they take that talent of gold and they purchase a land for their temple or whatever it is, right? To me, I thought that's why they did it. It was something to give back to God. But if you think deeper, it is also somewhat of a restitution. It's almost a giving back to the Israelites which really rightfully probably theirs that all these jewels really came off the backs of their hard work and their abundant blessing. Certainly it came

10:22from their God, did it not? Everything is gods. All things are his. All things are made by him and for him and without him was nothing made. So if you take that concept and you say, well, God, everything is yours anyways, then surely it makes sense that the Egyptians would give the jewels of silver and gold and nice clothes to the Israelites on their way out because their gods chosen people. And so there's that aspect too. And then if you think of like the streets of golden heaven and you think of being delivered from sin as this being a picture of that by the blood of Christ, this is a picture of that, right? Then you start thinking about, okay, are coming inheritance, a time where we go from poor and beggarly here on earth to wonderful and kingly there in heaven, which is biblical. You know, we are to suffer with Christ here on earth so that we can be an overcomer and rule and reign with him in heaven, right? The overcomer has to have something to overcome. So if you're born of the silver spoon and you're rich your whole life, sure you could be saved, anything's possible with God, but a camel could also go through the eye of a needle with God's help and that's

11:23probably not likely. You see? So in this life when we suffer materially, you know, when we suffer, when we go through hard times, when we just seem to, can't make ends meet, right? You know, we just struggle, right? That's godly. That's how the Israelites were before they were delivered and that's how often the born again Christian is just dealing with finance before the coming reward or award, which happens at the beam of seed of Christ there at his second coming. Okay? Because he comes quickly and he comes with his reward, the Bible says. So he comes with his reward. That means we hear the trumpet sound, the dead and Christ rise first and which those which are alive and remain are called up to be with him. That's when we receive our reward. That's when I understand the beam of seat takes place. So there's a coming reward in which we will be like the Israelites and get the riches of the Egyptians. And then if you go very deep during the millennial kingdom, right? Jesus will rule and reign for a thousand

12:26years and those that are overcomers, those that have been saved and born again, will rule and reign with him and those ruling and reigning in the millennial kingdom, that's that time after the tribulation before the heavenly state or the eternal state will then be greatly rewarded in that time. Beyond just jewels and beyond just nice clothes, they will have a title and a service, right? They will have some kind of order, some kind of work to do for the Lord. That's what makes the idea of like hanging out on a cloud, play in the harp, a little silly in the eyes of what heaven really looks like. Now we're talking about millennial kingdom versus eternal state, but still it's the same. I believe in the millennial kingdom, you'll have your reward, you'll have your glorified body, you'll be serving the Lord, you'll be blessed in the eternal state in heaven, the eternal heaven, you'll have your reward, you'll have your glorified body, you'll be blessed. Different time periods, but same, same kind of soul that's carrying on, right? You're never dying soul is carrying on this reward, this

13:29eternal reward throughout all time. And so you see so much of this here in 3435 and 36. And lastly, before we get to, in the next episode, we'll get to how God told Moses about this incident that was going to come up. Lastly, we see the idea, it says here in verse 36, the Lord gave the people favor in the side of the Egyptians so that they let unto them such things as they required and they spoiled the Egyptians. So they had favor in the side of the Egyptians, the Egyptians, the Egyptians looked at them not as enemies. Now who could do that only God? God turned the heart of the Egyptians to have pity on the Israelites, to respect the Israelites, to like them and say, here, yes, like willingly, here's my gold watch or whatever, you know, here's my, you know, diamond keychain, I'm just making stuff up, but whatever they had back then, you know, a locket appendent, you know, a necklace, you know, a cup, a chalice, what are we called? You know, they gave it to them gladly, right? Because the Israelites would

14:33require these things. They would be poor, okay? As they left to be poor in the wilderness and that generation to come would be poor and being delivered there with Joshua into the promised land, they would need such things. And God in his provision provided those things to them before they needed it. God does the same for us. We'll pick up here. The next episode, too, then, then.
